Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III at Sen.

  1. Statement of Sen.Noynoy Aquino:

    1. I am not surprised with this turn of events. First, our opponents have had a long head start in this campaign. And while I diligently perform my functions as a legislator, the others are practically campaigning fulltime, neglecting their mandate with those who entrusted them with their votes. Second, for all the unprecedented and sustained ads spending in all forms of media of the other camp and the unrelenting and increasingly below-the-belt and baseless black propaganda against me by my opponents, not to mention the harassment we have been continuously getting from this administration—the arbitrary transfers and replacement of police directors, the inexplicably adverse rulings we have been getting from Comelec for our local executives, the abrupt cessation of government projects in provinces friendly to us and lately even the denial of venues for our rally sites– I am surprised that I am still on top of the surveys.

    2. By the day, it is becoming clear that an unholy alliance is developing between this administration and my opponent. No wonder the Palace spokesman couldn’t restrain himself in expressing his gratitude to one of my opponents for keeping quiet on the many issues confronting this administration.

    3. Of course, that is not to say that we do not face challenges in the campaign. Quite a lot, I must say, foremost of which is the ability to bring our message—a clean, decent, transparent and accountable government will put an end to massive corruption, dedicate precious public resources to basic services for the poor and alleviate our people’s hopelessness and poverty—across to as many of our people as possible. It is a strong and relevant message that we are certain has had and will continue to have traction among more and more of our voters. We have been able to address this. In the coming days, we will be able to do this with greater frequency and in a sustained manner through ads.

    4. On top of this, I believe that our comparative advantage—the organizational strength coming from our ability to mobilize volunteers all over the country—still has to make itself felt in the campaign. We expect that to happen as we formally start the campaign this February, the historic People Power month.

    5. I have been through this before. When I first ran for office as a Congressman in 1998, I faced eight opponents and initially attracted about two-thirds of the votes. After the eight ganged up on me, throwing everything they could at me, my numbers fell to half of what I started with. But since the issues they threw at me did not stick and since I brought a message of change and hope, in the end, I prevailed with plenty to spare.

    6. What should not escape all of us is that I still lead the surveys—from the time I declared my candidacy to this day. I would like to assure everyone, especially our supporters, that as the formal campaign period starts, we will work harder to make sure that we remain on top of the fight and the hope of our people for a clean, competent and compassionate government through my tandem with Senator Mar Roxas will be fulfilled.

Ayayayayay! He needs a direction finder. Otherwise his missile-like start will fall to earth in a dud.

Oh well, the presidency was almost his for the taking if we are to believe past surveys, so if he loses the election, it will be his fault and his alone.

In war, even the best laid plans can lead to defeat, what more when there is no focus.

  3. I would like to assure everyone, especially our supporters, that as the formal campaign period starts, we will work harder

Geez… not good enough! Fire his commanding officers is what I say. You don’t wait for battle to fomally begin to work harder. You do it EVEN BEFORE the battle begins.

  4. In my lil world of defence business, if my execs said that to me, I’d have their hide!

  5. Isagani Isagani

Malabo ang takbo ng campanya ni Noynoy. Sa tingin ko, he is taking the electorate for granted. Think of it is, wala naman siya ng overt record vs Gloria Arroyo and her gangsters – tahimik lang, kung mayroon mang galaw. And, Pinoys love aggressive fighters. Barako/Macho man wins the day.

Isa pa, yung celebrety niyang kapatid is a liability.

  6. Anna,
This is the Philippines. You’ll be disappointed if you get your hopes up too high. Villar knows all too well that if you spend enough money on ads, endorsers, buy votes where needed, hire the best writers, etc…you’ll get what you want…
Thats why at the back of my mind, I have this nagging thought that Villar will win…
Its like this, we’re like the old Philippine eagle you find in a zoo of some sorts, it still looks majestic, fierce, and full of promise – but its just a shadow of what it once was…totally forgotten what it was to shed blood for love for God and country, some even despised the EDSAs…it knows that beyond its cage lies freedom, it can smell it, but it will not make any attempt to escape, even if you open the door.
Sadly, like most families, wives, women, children, here, they are willing to endure abusive fathers/husbands, whether its physical or psychological…how many women accept their husband’s physical abuse and infidelity? For as long as he takes care of the family, provides for the children, give the mother money for mahjong or ballroom dancing – he can have as many women as he like, he will come back to the house eventually anyway…
Thats the way most of us look for our leaders, we will endure the evil that we know because he can take care of us, we look for a strong, dominant, but generous, father (or mother) figure, and will not mind if he’s cruel, unfaithful, or without scruples, for as long as he can take care of us, he will do…
…we may have forgotten how it is to fend for ourselves, to fight the big fight, and will just follow the one throwing money around, because most of us are hungry? Not really, just lost…
    …I hope I’m wrong…

  7. Jug,

It’s quite a paradox, isn’t it? On one hand, people want a corrupt-free government (or at the very least, limited corruption governance) but on the other hand, they vote corrupt leaders into office.

  8. Isagani Isagani

Pinoy psyche in an old joke:

There were four soldiers, allies in the Korean war – an American, a Frenchman, a Chinaman and a Filipino. Alas, they were cornered in a fierce firefight. They were sure to die! As a show of braveness and unity in fighting for a common cause, they have all decided to fight to the end.

First the American, he sprung from his dugout and cheered, “God bless America!” He was cut down even before he could make a charge.

Next the Frenchman. He drew his bayonet, as he was out of bullets and shouted, “Vive la France” (or something like that) and jumped over the ramparts to make a charge. He was also cut down.

Not to be outdone, the Filipino, inspired by the gallantry of what he had witnessed, stood up, hands tensed in a surging stance, pushed the Chinaman from where they lay into the fray and screamed, “Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!”

    It’s only a joke. 😉

  9. Despite Villar somehow making a dent into Noynoy’s lead, I still think Noynoy will win.

I seriously doubt if Villar will be able to hold on to his ad-fueled rating.

  10. Ellen,

What is sad is that there really is no choice — at the very best, he/she’s forced to choose from an extremely unpresidentiable lot, one who has lost his direction finder somewhere and another whose direction finder is focused on finding the loot.

  11. How many contenders are there? 6? Imagine the winner obtaining 19% or say, 20% of the votes, or even 25% — the future president will be presiding over a fractuous nation. How can one govern, build concesus, or preside over the affairs of the state with a quarter of a mandate?

No wonder Pinas is in such a state of disarray.

  12. A president with a fraction of a mandate, a useless senate with non-legislating actors for leading candidates, a house of reps that only function by incentive (pork barrel), a corrupt justice system, an inexistent honour system… what a recipe for disaster.

Sorry to say this, but truly, the Philippines needs a benevolent dictator.

  13. henry90 henry90

Simply unbelievable! This has become a roller-coaster ride for the country! Something’s gotta give sooner or later. This can’t go on forever. I’m afraid this social volcano is nearing Eraption. Will failure of elections be the trigger?

  14. Isagani Isagani

“the Philippines needs a benevolent dictator.”

Remember???: This nation will be great again.

I hope we don’t go there ever again.

  15. Ah, Isagani, but the one who coined that phrase was not exactly a benevolent dictator.

  16. Phil Cruz Phil Cruz

The electorate gets easily fooled by Villar’s smoke and mirrors ads. They easily succumb to these because of lack of independent thinking due to lack of good education and poverty. What a sorry state of affairs.

    Stuck and mired in mud.

I just hope and I pray that whoever wins is a righteous man and a God fearing man..ang sabi nga ni St. Thomas More..”a
statesman who removes his private conscience for the sake of his country would lead his country to chaos..” and sa tingin ko ito ang nangyayari sa atin..malungkot..ano nga ba ang tunay na dahilan ng bawat isa kung bakit gusto nila maging pangulo? nakikita na natin ang kanilang kulay at kung sino ang totoo sa kanilang layunin…para sa bayan. may the best man wins! pero sa tingin kung sino ang ma pera ay siyang magwawagi…malungkot..pero on the other hand baka may pagbabago..

  18. As tough as the times are, the selection of a new president for the Philippines is easy. We obviously cannot put back into office a disgraced ex-president convicted and pardoned for PLUNDER.We cannot a elect a man who promises another 6 years of failed GMA polices. We cannot elect the richest candidate who could have serious conflicts of interest with the government because of his vast business empire.

  19. balweg balweg

Re: We obviously cannot put back into office a disgraced ex-president convicted and pardoned for PLUNDER?

Well, The Equalizer…how about if the majority of Masang Pilipino take him back to Malacanang once again? Are you and other Pinoys are willing to accept the mandate of registered voters who will vote for him for the second time again?

    A part of Democratic exercise…friend!

Correct, he was convicted of WHO? The rubber-stamp of corrupt and liars regime, thru the Sandigan ni Gloria to convict him, but remember…he is still popular and millions of Pinoys loves him.

A thru Nationalist and Ama ng Masang Pilino, except those civil socialites who conspired against his popularity and mandate?

Example of his bravery…he conquered around 46MILF camps without yabang and tontong kaisipin to bring all these areas back again to the fold of Philippine sovereignty.

But, those bastards lingkod-bulsa thru the help of Santita Cory, Kardinal Makasalanan, Tabako, evil socialites, lingkod-bulsa and other bystanders were the one who conspired against the legitimate President of the Republic.

In 10-years of corrupt regime…who will be blamed for this messed? Ofcouse, those conspirators who conspired each other to still Malacanang from the hand of Masang Pilipino?

Now, who are the noisiest and hard headed Pinoys in our society?

NOT ang Masang Pilipino, but those who were kicked out from the evil regime and they portrayed them that they are the saviours and protectors of our land?

Yaks, common sense…we are NOT urging each other NOW if those bastard Pinoys may paggalang sa Constitution and respect sa mandate ng Masang Pilipino.

Sa aking kaisipan, sooner or later ang mga maka Erap at mga maka Noynoy ay dapat magkakaroon ng unity against Money V. Friends, iisa ang kalaban – si Money V, never never again the same banana for Malacanang. His corruption was mothered by Gloria.

Dikdikan na ang labanan sa sarbey. Pukpukan, dikitan.

It is not the strongest, the wealthiest, that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to Change “..This is the type of leader we need today…simple-transparent-humble-with people’s heart…..

    V–Villeges-subdivisions-mga C-5 sumasabit,

nangu-nguna sa surveys, mga karamihang Pinoy.

  29. Press statement of former President Joseph Estrada:

“There is something amiss with the latest presidential surveys,” United Opposition spokesperson and campaign manager Ernesto Maceda said today, after receiving news of the latest Pulse Asia survey where former President Joseph Estrada slid down to 12% from last month’s 19%.

“I cannot reconcile Erap’s low rankings with the crowds that come out to by the thousands to welcome him in every province that we visit,” Maceda said.

Maceda recalled that just last week, South Cotabato greeted former President Joseph Estrada with a 20,000 strong crowd that filled their track and field oval. “Just today,” Maceda said, “thousands again came out to welcome and pledge their support to President Erap at the Bgy. Botongan Gym in Estancia in Iloilo. The same with happened in the gym in Carles, in the 5th district of Iloilo, where people rode boats out of the islands they live in just to greet Erap. The surveys don’t seem to reconcile with the numbers of these crowds.”

Maceda attributed the drop to the lack of television and radio commercials of the former president compared to Senator Manny Villar, who rose the highest in the latest Pulse Asia survey. “Villar has really been flooding TV, radio, billboards, the internet, every avenue possible with ads, compared to all the other candidates, who have not been spending billions on advertising,” Maceda analyzed.

Nevertheless, Maceda remained firm that it is not good to peak at this point. “If you peak too early, you risk falling out of the race,” Maceda said. “That is also why we have been pacing ourselves, in accordance with our campaign program,” Maceda said.

now the race is getting interesting. but it is still a very long way to san jose. and let Villar spends all his Monny and find out that he just remain a senator. but anyways, take a look at some of the interesting registered parties we have here and their platforms, like the Marijuana Party and the Less Work party. Also take a peep at the Communist party and the Marxist-Leninist Party. they are all accredited.

And some may asked, how much can a PM spend to become one? Or any individual to become a member of the Parliament.

Here is the new rule. Contributions come from only one one source, from citizens and permanent residents. campaign funds can also come from government in form of rebates and refunds of yearly expense.
    ******************
New contribution limits have been set for individuals.

Only an individual who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada may make political contributions:

    * up to $1,000* in total in any calendar year to a particular registered party
    * up to $1,000* in total in any calendar year to the registered associations, nomination contestants and candidates of a particular registered party
    * up to $1,000* in total to a candidate in an election who does not represent a registered party
    * up to $1,000* in total to the contestants in a particular leadership contest

In addition, a person who is a nomination contestant or a candidate of a registered party may give contributions that do not exceed $1,000 to his or her own campaign without it counting toward his or her contribution limits.

A candidate who is not a candidate for a registered party may give contributions that do not exceed $1,000 to his or her own campaign without it counting toward his or her contribution limits.

A person who is a leadership contestant may give contributions that do not exceed $1,000 to his or her own campaign without it counting toward his or her contribution limits.

    *********
Altogether, A candidate or any may not spend more than $1000 for his own campaign and $5000 (same for any individual) for his total contributions annually and subject to refunds and tax reductions. Very cheap elections.

  41. Seriously, ang kelangang gawin ni Noynoy is to pirate and hire Villar’s campaign manager at ang buong team. I think they are doing a great job. Narinig ko yong si Butch Abad puro negative ang explanation, like “we only rely on donations” la-la-la! ano ba!

Have these people followed Hillary’s campaign? Ganun na ganun eh. Noynoy Aquino’s campaign reminds me of Hillary’s campaign. When Hillary started, she was way up there on top, unbeatable. While Obama continued on with this message. It was too late in the game for the Hillary campaign to fire her campaign manager and change strategies. She and her campaign were just too over-confident and un-focused and of course not feeling the people. Not even the magic of Bill could resuscitate that campaign.

If Noynoy’s campaign staff continues the direction they’re doing, reactive and instead of being proactively sustaining what they had achieved in the beginning even without much help, this is theirs to lose big time. And the trend is not looking good for them.

If I were Noynoy, I’d rethink about who’s running my campaign, as in NOW NA.

  48. Masa or not, i.e., the populace or the elite, poor or rich, at the end of the day, Pinoys deserve the kind of head of state they elect. Full stop!

If they want to put a stop to the political filth and government corruption — they must do something about it. After all, the masa outnumber the elite. Their voting power can easily overwhelm the elite they so despise. If they can’t get their acts together so that their desiderata for good government may prevail, they must share a large part of the blame.

They must stop whining and moaning over their condition. If they want good governance, they must fight for it and if they don’t, they only have themselves to blame.

God gave people brains to think and if they don’t use it — tough!

  49. In the same manner that while I abhor what happened in 2001 that toppled the masa-elected Erap, I believe that Erap is largely to blame for his destitution. He was asleep on the job. Full stop.

Even at the height of the coup d’état, he could have paused to think. He had the power, he had the means, he had government elements at his beck and call, he had the support of his masa and Iglesia ni Cristo yet he decided to surrender and play the martyr.

His excuse that he didn’t want bloodshed is baloney. That’s good for the movies but not a credible alibi in real life. As we all know, a few weeks later, an army of masa or a huge chunk of the leaderless populace attacked Malacanang. So, to say that he wanted to avoid bloodshed was pure crap.

The fact is, he was not up to the task.

  50. A president is not only a president of the masa but of all classes of the population. It is very wrong of a leader or his supporters to instill class segregation in this society — it destroys the very moral basis for national survival. And if Estrada is once again saying that he is the president of the poor, why the fuck should those in the middle class and in the upper class consider him the leader of a nation?

  51. Accomplishments as President:

2)Decreased the inflation rate to an average of 9.7% to 8.4% during the first-half of 1999 to 6.6% at the 2nd-half and to 3.5% at the 1st-half of 2000.

3)Decreased the unemployment rate from 13.3% to 11.8% that gave 1.6 million Filipinos jobs.

4)Gave more than 20,000 hectares of land irrigation and build 250 km of farm-to-market roads.

5)Fully implemented the Agriculture and fisheries Modernization Act that aims at transforming our agriculture and fisheries into technologically advanced and globally competitive sectors.

6)Built or upgraded 582 kilometers of roads, 10,069 lineal meters of bridges, provided electricity to 1,221 barangays and installed 165,000 new telephone lines.

7)Distributed more than 266,000 hectares of land to 175,000 landless farmers, including land owned by the traditional rural elite. (Total of 523,000 hectares to 305,000 farmers during his 2nd year as President).

8)Won the war against the terrorism caused by the MILF rebels.

9)Constructed thousands of new classrooms, provided hundreds of thousands of new desks, addressed the teacher shortage problem, and proposed improvements to the curricula to meet both global standards and local needs.

10)In partnership with the private sector, extended assistance to students by providing them access to the Internet.

11)Launched a parallel importation program to bring down the market prices of medicines drastically and make them affordable to the poor.

12)From July 1999 to May 2000, more than 190,000 households were provided with housing units. This represents 52 percent of the target households to be sheltered in Metro Manila and surrounding provinces.

13)Exports, led by electronics and semiconductors, reached $11.3 billion in the first four months of 2000, 10.6 percent higher than for the same period of 1999.

  57. Balweg,

He lost the presidency without even lifting a finger to prevent it… That in itself speaks volumes. In other words, the fact that he lost his job despite the overwhelming devotion of what you call the masa is most likely because he was not up to the task. Either that or the masa were not up to it… Whatever it is, the fact is beloved Saint Erap, the best president the country one can have according to you, the only one who ever did anything good for this country, etc etc, couldn’t keep his job. Full stop!

But wait, perhaps, Erap was mistaken in thinking that the masa would come and help him against the depised Edsa 2 folks, but ignoble masa didn’t — so, what does that make of Estrada? Uto uto? Anyway, I’m sure despite the evidence, you still believe Erap is Philipines’ political Einstein. But your problem not mine.

Your problem today is not with me or with the elite or with the middle class or not even with the poor… Your problem is with Erap! You must explain to Erap why, despite his devotion and love for the masa, the masa didn’t even blink to bloody defend him against the “evil Civil society”…

At the end of the day, masa or not, like I said, Pinoys deserve the government they get!

  58. And Balweg, it’s inifinitely wrong to impose apartheid or segregation — class or race or wahtever — in a country. It’s a moral crime.

As I said above: “And if Estrada is once again saying that he is the president of the poor, why the fuck should those in the middle class and in the upper class consider him the leader of a nation, why the fuck should those in the middle class and in the upper class consider him a WORTHTY leader of the nation?

Truly, instilling class segregation or class apartheid as campaign platform is odious!

Does Erap know that you are instilling segregation or apartheid? If he is truly the great and saintly man you’ve been saying he is, careful… he might not aprpeciate the fact that his supporters are dividing the nation in terms of class…

(After all, Erap admires Mandela very much — he was over the moon when he was sent by FVR as emissary in Mandela’s investiture back then…)

  59. balweg balweg

RE: The fact is, he was not up to the task?

Really, a big ignorance about President Erap accomplishments during his tenure as the President of the Republic.

(A)The ERAP Program, which was implemented from February 26 until July 15, 1999, resulted to a total collection of P 21.186 billion from 92,107 tax returns filed by 74,745 taxpayers.

    (B) Conduct verification of the 1997 tax liabilities of inter-related taxpayers with focus on the use of tax haven, foundation and other tax favored entities; inter-company loans and advances; inter-company financing; shifting of income and expenses to tax favored affiliates; and excessive allowances paid to major shareholders and directors not subject to withholding. This resulted to the collection of P 4.190 billion with an assessment of P 15.180 billion.

(C)Implementation of the BIR-Land Regulatory Authority (LRA) Project in 7 Registers of Deeds in Metro Manila which resulted to the identification of 47 fake/spurious/ questionable documents and total payment of taxes for Certificate Authorizing Registration (CAR) and Tax Clearance Certificate (TCL) documents amounting to P 152.854 million.

(D)Conduct of audit of tax returns on selected taxpayers by the revenue District Offices through the issuance of RMO No. 67-99, which resulted to the collection of P 1.596 billion. Deficiency tax assessments amounting to P 9.107 billion have been issued involving 12,433 cases.

“Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago said she joined the Senate boycott last Wednesday to block alleged attempts to pass two controversial bills and not to show solidarity with Sen. Manuel Villar, who could have faced censure from his colleagues in the majority for the C-5 road controversy” (Philstar)

Iyan din ang pautot ni Alan Cayetano, na nagboycott daw sila para hindi mapasa ang bill na intended to extend the term of Gloria.

RE: But wait, perhaps, Erap was mistaken in thinking that the masa would come and help him against the depised Edsa 2 folks, but ignoble masa didn’t — so, what does that make of Estrada? Uto uto?

I heard that word Ms. Anna during EDSA 3, i was there at the Edsa Shrine from the first nite of this event. I was on holiday and i joined with them to express our disappointment against EDSA DOS conspirators.

Erap has guts to lead ng nation.

Di natin pwedeng talikuran na ang Pinas e divided NOT only rich and poor, but during Apo Macoy watch…classified lamang ang status ng Pinoy from class A, B and C.

We are squatters in our own country, except those Migrant Pinoys who changed their allegiance to their adopted new home.

About us Pinoy still living in the Pinas, we need to fight and protect our country against this ruling class who pretend na mga lingkod-bayan but lingkod-bulsa pala.

She turned her back on him just like those members of the masa, i.e., Satur Ocampo and the reds (who technically belong to the masa too) who joined Gloria and Civil Society in toppling him.

Erap doesn’t deserve the fickle-minded “masa” — he should not sacrifice his life or his comfort for them. He should just devote the remaining years of his life to his wife, his concubines and his children.

  64. About us Pinoy still living in the Pinas, we need to fight and protect our country against this ruling class who pretend na mga lingkod-bayan but lingkod-bulsa pala.

Agree ako diyan Balweg but there must be focus. But those who are prepared to fight for what is right to put good governance in place must be able to depend and rely on fickle-minded masa.

If the masa is so unreliable, eg., they prefer to sell their votes and to vote for shitheads, then I say, they could go wallow in filth for all I care. They deserve no sympathy.

  65. Ooops mali: “Fickle-minded masa don’t deserve great and wonderful Erap -— he should not sacrifice his life or his comfort for them.” 🙂

Saklap nyan.

  67. florry florry

If the survey is to be believed, it is now a fight between C-5 at taga and SCTEX at Hacienda Luisita.

It’s too bad Lacson made his flight to freedom without seeing and participating to get the desired result of what he started against Villar. Now Villar’s handlers can spin all they want that there’s nothing irregular against their candidate. And plus all his ads, expect his numbers to go up, up more.

As to Noynoy, all he is doing is laugh (he said so) at the cases involving SCTEX and HL, no answers, ignore all the issues, call it black pro and everything will take care of itself just like the style of C-5 and it seemed to be effective. He started strong in the survey, but when you’re up, there’s no more room to go up but plenty of room to go down. If he wants to be prez, he should show and prove that he can stand on his own merit and face issues squarely. He can not just feel and assume that he is entitled because he is the son of Cory and Ninoy. He has to work for it. He can not just say that his parents are Cory and Ninoy. This feeling of entitlement and those nose-on-the air sorts of people around him is a turned-off. He is now under a microscopic examination by people who gave him the high numbers before, and maybe they saw something that’s why his numbers are going down. The danger is, he might lose some more.

Erap, he is now at a low third place. Does anyone really think that the scheming and cunning Gloria cuts a deal with a candidate who is not in the mix? What benefit will she gets by cutting a deal with a candidate that is not showing good numbers in surveys; unless of course she knows or has something which shows that Erap is in the thick of the fight?

With all the resources still at her disposal, it’s possible, so the fight is not just between the two frontrunners, but a three cornered fight.

And Erap may even emerged as the winner.

  68. florry florry

It is only Cory who was true inside. She was without experience in office and was surrounded by many greedy wolves, but she had conviction and the people loved her despite her shortcomings. Actually, that is what Noynoy leans on. Without his parents legacy there is no contest.

This is not to say that he does not have the stuff that his parents have, but that still remains to be seen.

  88. chi chi

Poor Dolphy! His humour has become sallow.

Time he went into retirement. Lending his name to a plunderer won’t be good for his old age.

  90. Dolphy’s humour is athritic… time for him to give his comedy skills a rest.

  91. Btw, who is Erap’s running mate nga pala?

  92. Tedanz Tedanz

    chi,

  93. Tedanz Tedanz

    Anna,
Si Binay ang bise ni Erap.

  94. Ah ganoon ba… Thanks, Tedanz.

  95. Certainly, one of these candidates will win in the coming elections.

But the question remains, “When will the people win?”

    Obviously, not in this elections.

  96. E si Fernando? Sino ang nag running mate sa kanya?

  97. Just keep dreaming.

    It’s free.

And when you do, make it grand.

  98. “When will the people win?”

Sumpit, when they start voting with their heads instead of with their feet.

  99. christian christian

choices before were between lesser evils, now the choice is GOOD VS EVIL, no doubt NOYNOY is the Good candidate while Villar of C5 is the Evil candidate. It’s up to filipinos now if they want a good president or an evil president to rule the country.

  100. They have been using their heads all along.

But what you can find in there are trash that the mainstream media fed them since the day they were born.

  101. What do you mean? If they’re still buying the “trash that’s fed to them”, how can they be using their heads?

  102. Filomeno Sta Ana of BusinessWorld described Villar accurately in his column:

b>Unfortunately, Villar has neither responsibility nor integrity. He does not adhere to the ethics of honesty, uprightness, and transparency. He makes money do the talking, but he veers away from obligations, accountabilities, and tradeoffs. <He is another Gloria.

  103. chi chi

Anna, Gordon and Fernando are a team.

  104. The quality of a decision is dependent on the quality of information acquired.

In most cases, quality information comes with a premium, eg. internet. That’s why only those who can afford can have access to it.

Meanwhile, the majority which are poor source their daily dose of info from the mainstream media. The media can effectively shape the opinion of the majority to its will.

It’s that same majority who will decide periodically the leaders, ergo the fate of this country for the next 6 years.

The big question is: “Are they really the one deciding, or it just appear to be so?”

  105. balweg balweg

Well, Ms. Martina…walang tulak-kabigin ang mga taga-Eraptians coz’ either Yellow Fever, C5 at Tiyaga and the rest of all these candidates e sila dahilan ng pagpipingkian natin ng katwiran about sa kapalaran ng bansa?

ONLY Pres.

  106. balweg balweg

RE: Just keep dreaming. It’s free.

  107. balweg balweg

RE: …no doubt NOYNOY is the Good candidate while Villar of C5 is the Evil candidate?

Di ako mapalagay Christian…where are you during EDSA DOS con Hello Garci coup détat?

Wala tayong maasahan dyan.

  109. Erap had his chance and he blew it. He was a disgrace and a source of national shame, more multinational would have pulled out of the country had he stayed. His idea of solving the muslim rebel issue borders on genocide and religious intolerance, and insult – given more of that and we could have sentenced our OFWs working in Muslim countries to death. Lets face it, the guy lives in the movies, he doesn’t have the brains…and whatever his supporters say, he is a CONVICTED felon, a CRIMINAL, we are a country of laws so whatever the law says (or courts) so be it! If you get a CRIMINAL RECORD you are a criminal, period. It would have been better if he was imprisoned for political crimes like fighting corruption, dictatorship, enemies of democracy or for human rights – but no, he was imprisoned for money. The guy is driven by money, wine, women, he has no respect for anyone or anything at all. It was just right for him to leave pronto.
…and the supposedly “masa” supporters? they will move only when you give them money anyway, and the most rabid of these don’t even pay taxes. These supposed “masa” are teh rabble that we can do without, besides being unproductive, criminal elements come from this group…

Ito ay comment ni Ariel Querubin:
    http://www.abante.com.ph/issue/feb0510/default.htm

Mas mabuti pa sundin niya ang ‘silence is a virtue’.

  112. balweg balweg

RE: ka Balweg:Di po ako nag-enjoy?

YES Igan SumpPit…tayong dalawa at SURE marami pang-iba!

Like TOL Defensor, and other spice boyz, Mr.Noted, Cayetanos, at iba pa…na sa halip na maging bagong breed of politicians e marunong nang magsinungaling at mangurap.

  119. Question: If the choice was only between Erap and Villar and you’d like to exercise your right to vote, sino ang pipiliin ninyo?
    ——————————

    No contest – Villar!
Erap will drive all multinational companies and foreign investors away, and can we really endure another 4 years of Erap jokes? 🙂

  120. Chi,

That’s the gravest dilemma a voter shouldn’t have to face.

Right off the bat, if such were the scenario presented to me, I’d say I wouldn’t vote, i.e., abstain.

But if it’s a question of life and death, i.e., prevent Villar winning, there is no other choice — I’ll vote for the devil I know than the devil I don’t know, hence, much to my chagrin, I will be forced to cast my vote for Erap to vote against Villar.

Anyway, this position also involves Aquino because my decision to vote for him will hinge on the very same above factors.

  121. chi chi

Anna, superb ang response mo, “I’ll vote for the devil I know than the devil I don’t know”.

  122. Mike Mike

“I will be forced to cast my vote for Erap to vote against Villar.” = AnnaDeBrux

At least this devil you picked can entertain us with his Erap jokes. 😛

  123. Question: If the choice was only between Erap and Villar and you’d like to exercise your right to vote, sino ang pipiliin ninyo?
    ——————————————

For the country’s sake, I’ll vote for Villar. A smart thief is better than a stupid, clumsy, and drunk one. Villar, being a businessman will protect his interests which are tied up with the Filipinos(if we do well, he gets more money), while Erap on the other hand will drive the country to the ground. I don’t think I can endure four more years of Erap jokes and being the butt of ridicule of the international community…then again, we still need to get rid of him later…

  124. baycas2 baycas2

Proven big spender in 2007, Villar (or his handlers) apparently is still not missing the message. He has constantly reminded voters that he worked his way up from poverty.

But Manny also buys election with his “S at T” embedded in noontime shows.

Boo Chanco (Philippine Star article today) has this to say too:

I have heard that Villar has locked up the prime time spots equivalent to what is allowed by the Comelec and was merely using a lot of bonus spots before the official campaign period started. I am afraid that once Noynoy’s handlers decide to buy media spots, they would find themselves relegated to non prime times.

  125. A long time ago, the question of who can we replace Arroyo with cropped up, so many people thought we had a lot to choose from, now it seems we never had anyone to start with…its a shame really…but there’s always the lesser evil…
I can’t help it, I know that Noynoy is the logical choice but voting for him reminds me of those god awful cod liver oil my mother made me take when I was little…I felt like vomitting all the time, all those years, and up to now I could still smell the fishy taste and slimy feel…but I never got seriously sick after that…

  126. rose rose

Para sa akin the real opposition- are the people who will vote for the right..remember the song “The Impossible Dream”? “this is our quest to follow that star, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far..”? mga kabataan don’t join the money packed band wagon..hitch your wagon to a star that would lead us all to what is right..katotohanan, kaunlaran, kapayapaan, katarungan..let us all be united..

  127. rose rose

btw..are we now ready for automated election? ang narinig ko we are not ready..kaya malaki pang possible na mano mano ang election..at ang labanan ay to borrow the words of money packed hero of Gen San..pound by pound, kamao to kamao ang labanan?..huwag naman sana armalites ang gamitin sa labanan..nakakalungkot isipin, nakakatakot isipin..ay gloria nasaan ka?

  128. Noynoy folks are getting annoyed at the comments that their campaign and their advertisements do not reach the proper sectors like the OFW’s and their families.

A Noynoy supporter may have the answer when the guy said — “Noynoy does not need the OFW sector. OFW’s don’t vote! They don’t register to vote, they won’t come back to Pilipinas to vote. OFW’s don’t vote!”

    THE GREATEST ATROCITY
During the Dark Ages the Catholic Church slaughtered over 150 million Christians, and this atrocity is never mentioned today! The world has almost completely forgotten the many millions of people who were burned at the stake by the papacy because they wanted to worship God according to the Bible.

The slaughter in Bosnia, Kosovo, Serbia, and Croatia is a direct result of the Vatican’s involvement in this area, but you will never hear about it because the Jesuit-controlled news media not only refuse to mention it but they lie about the situation to keep the papacy from being suspected of their true involvement.

    FROM HISTORY

A secular history book declares: “That the Church of Rome has shed more innocent blood than any other institution that has ever existed among mankind, will be questioned by no Protestant who has a competent knowledge of history.” — W. E. H. Lecky, History of the Rise and Influence of the Spirit of Rationalism in Europe, (reprint: New York: Braziller, 1955), Vol. 2, pp. 40-45.

At ang kanilang inilalabas ay two way fight na lamang between Noynoy and Villar.

The Villar camp is trying to dissuade the Noynoy camp from conducting a negative campaign. They know this is the one strategy which will bring Villar down. And they, in fact, started it against Noynoy.

So Noynoy’s camp should not act like the goody-goody stupid lambs about to be eaten by a wolf. They want to break Villar’s surge? Expose him for what he really is. And that calls for a negative campaign strategy.
