Capt. Nick Faeldon’s website (www.pilipino.org.ph) crashed yesterday. The information on the site said:
Bandwidth Limit Exceeded.The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later.
My friend, Fe Zamora of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, said she visited the site at 4:25 p.m. and she was the 221,350th visitor.
Faeldon’s site is every web/blog owner’s dream.
My last e-mail from him was last Thursday, Jan. 5. He issued a press release and video clips of his visit to the Wescom in Palawan (which was denied by military authorities). Since his site is down, we are posting the latest from him:
Despite an ongoing nationwide manhunt for him, Philippine Marine Capt. Nicanor Faeldon has gone inside the military’s western command headquarters in Palawan, and even had pictures taken of him inside the camp.
“No one can stop me from entering these camps unless the corrupt generals themselves man the entrances. The soldiers and officers of the military who remain loyal to the people, and who value their honor, will not turn me in,” Faeldon said. The statement was in a cd released this morning, which included two brief footages of Faeldon inside Wescom, as well as a statement in which he explained that the role of the military should be to protect the people, and not just the commander in chief.
Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita had earlier belittled Faeldon’s call for civil disobedience, and said he expected Faeldon to be captured soon.
“Sino ba naman si Captain Faeldon? …hulihin natin iyan. Lahat ng ating mga kababayan hingan natin ng tulong. Pero hindi natin bigyan ng kahalagahan iyong panawagan niya. Na magkaroon ng civil disobedience. Anong karapatan niya para manawagan siya ng ganoon? Diyos ko po,” Ermita had earlier said in a radio interview.
In his latest statement, Faeldon denied that he is being “coddled” by some groups.
“There are others in the military who are committing civil disobedience together with me,” Faeldon said, as he reiterated his call on the people to join him in bringing down Arroyo through civil disobedience.
“We will post in the coming days specific, nonviolent acts that people can do to send the message to Arroyo and to the rest of the world that Arroyo is not our president,” he added.

Do you know what Faeldon’s plans or his objectives are?
Has he got a definite plan of action or is he doing it on a day to day basis?
Can’t blame him if he decides to keep things close to his chest. What with the many traydors in his midst – he’s gotta be more discerning lest he ends up in the lowest part of Ermita’s totem pole.
By the way, Ed Ermita is being silly – to even begin to utter ” Sino ba iyang si Faeldon?” is stupid. To say “Hulihin na yan!” is terribly dangerous. Faeldon could be his downfall if he doesn’t watch it. But let’s see if Ermita has the courage to put at stake the 3 stars he had against the captain stripes (or suns) of Faeldon’s! I would bet on the latter who’s staked everything he had to fight the Ermita’s beloved Gloria-led establishment.
Ermita’s pseudo-psy war verbose tactics against Faledon reminded me of a similar incident involving Ed’s friend, Undersecretary Feliciano Gacis who said the same thing of a naval officer, a LtCommander at the time and who had an irritating habit of questioning Gacis’ policy drafts (Gacis used to write kilometers of military comments on this and that).
Gacis who didn’t like (an undestatement) to be contradicted once quipped vigorously to a group of people: “Who does he think he is? He is NOTHING – he is at the bottom of the totem pole!”
The said naval officer didn’t mind and went about doing his thing, contradicting Gacis when he thought Gacis was being ridiculous – he became the FOIC less than 10 years later while Gacis could only boast of an easy-earned 1 star during his bland deskwork career and owed that un-deserved star to FVR’s extreme generosity!
And by the way, this was the same naval officer that Commodore Rex Robles had insulted to his face in front of Commoore Bayani Marec (then vice-com Phil Navy) during a confrontation: “Putang-inang hipon ka!”
The naval officer in question didn’t flinch and instead went to Admiral Marcelo and submitted his resignation right then and there but Marcelo wouldn’t hear any of it. Instead, the former FOIC (one of the most respected military men of his generation) fired Robles!

“Bandwidth limit exceeded” usually means they used up their traffic allocation from when they bought the domain,though they had less than 200,000 hits last time I visited them before yesterday and most ISPs give you a lot of BW nowadays. I wonder if it’s not in fact a DENIAL OF SERVICE ATTACK where SOMEONE has been overloading the site with an army of ZOMBIES,like the case of that Canadian hacker, Mafiaboy, which brought down Yahoo and other sites a few years back?

www dot pilipino dot org dot ph seems to be back ONLINE this morning with over 220,000 hits. But you know what I noticed noon pa… MADAYA ANG HIT COUNTER NILA! Every visit I make to the website of Faeldon increments the counter by over 30 hits each time. So a good estimate of the true number of times the website has been VIEWED would be more like whatever is displayed there divided by 30. And since I visited it about ten times just this morning, maybe divided by 300 gives a good picture of how many PEOPLE have visited there.
I wish people who blog or put up websites adopt a kind of TRUTH IN ADVERTISING when it comes to counters and sitemeters. And like all good bloggers, they should set such counters to ignore visits by the authors and maintainers of the website.
It gives everybody else in cyberspace a bad name.

This doesnt mean that the site has crashed! It only means that http://www.pilipino.org.ph has reached the alloted bandwidth limit given to them by their server. You can’t blame pilipino.org from reaching its bandwidth limit. its obvious.. the site is recieving 10,000 hits a day or more than that. About the web counter.. You can’t trick that. Web site counter are server side scripts. Its not on your pc only. Anyway whats the big deal about that counter? who cares if its only 100 or 1,000,000 already?
