The frustration of the people over the ineptness of the Aquino government has made the “kamay na bakal” brand of leadership that Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte appealing to many.

Former Human Rights Commission Chair Etta Rosales warned about the dangers of a leader who wants to play God.
Rosales said, ““These people who say we need a Duterte, they don’t think of the law. They don’t realize that if you don’t respect the law, it would affect also you and your family.”

She adds: “The moment you take the law in your hands and you think you can get away with it, then you become part of the problem, and that has been the way of all authoritarian rulers.”

The call of Liberal Party’s Caloocan Rep. Edgar Erice for Sen. Grace Poe to be more transparent on the issue of her residency in the Philippines signals the drawing of the line between Poe and the Liberal Party’s presidential bet, Interior Secretary Mar Roxas.

Erice was quoted as saying that he believes that the lady senator, whose surging popularity makes her the frontrunner in the 2016 presidential elections, is a natural born Filipino citizen and should have no problem with the Constitutional requirement of citizenship for the presidency.

Erice said it’s in the requirement of a 10-year residency immediately preceding before the election that it’s not clear whether Poe is qualified or not. “”Si Senator Poe is a natural born Filipino, wala dapat mag-question doon. But I think Senator Grace should be more transparent as far as accusation she’s been using US passport 2006, 2007, 2009, according to former Senator Tatad,” the LP congressman said.

Erice sounded like United Nationalist Alliance interim president and Navotas City Rep. Toby Tiangco who first exposed the issue of Poe’s residency after the lady senator turned down Vice President Jejomar Binay’s offer for her to be his running mate.

Some of those who have ambitions to become president in 2016 are reportedly thinking of ways how to stop Grace Poe, whose political trajectory is consistently ascending since she was elected senator two years ago.

This has become urgent with President Aquino’s recent meeting with her on the possibility of running for higher office in 2016.

One of the issues Poe’s prospective political opponents have prepared to raise is her citizenship.
It is a known fact that the 2013 senatorial race topnotcher was a foundling. She was found in Jaro Cathedral in Iloilo City. A kind woman took care of her and later gave her to the then King and Queen of Philippine Movies Fernando Poe, Jr and Susan Roces.

There are, of course, juicier version of her parentage. One is that she is allegedly the daughter of Susan Roces’ sister, Rosemarie Sonora, with the late President Ferdinand Marcos.

Disqualify Binay to level playing field for 2016

VP Jejomar Binay did not present proof to debunk corruption allegations allegations against him.
All these investigations on the alleged corruption of Vice President Jejomar Binay are primarily to level the playing field for the 2016 presidential elections.

That’s because surveys showed that Binay is way, way ahead of other politicians who have ambitions to run for president in 2016.

When Pulse Asia asked 1,200 representative adults, 18 years old and above last June 24 through July 2, who they would vote for president if elections were held at that time, 41 percent said, “Binay.” That’s a good number. Analysts say that a presidential candidate has to have at least 40 per cent of the votes cast to win the presidency.
