Blood in Gloria Arroyo’s hands

After throwing a tantrum because the teleprompter was not ready, Gloria Arroyo told the Filipino people Monday, “Because of this sneaky and treacherous attack , as your commander-in-chief, I have ordered the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police to defend every inch of Philippine territory against MILF forces, and Immediately restore peace in the affected areas in Lanao de Norte.”

It would have been funny if not for the more than 30 lives that were lost and more than 60,000 people who have been rendered homeless.

Update from GMANews: Death toll in MILK attacks rises to more than 30.

At least 21 people have been killed and many others were wounded in attacks carried out in Lanao del Norte and Saranggani provinces by the members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front that have since fled and were being pursued by troops, officials said Monday.

Pakistan’s Musharraf announces resignation

Whatever you say of Musharraf, he still has dignity left in him which you cannot say of Gloria Arroyo.

ISLAMABAD (Agence France Presse) — Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf announced in a televised address to the nation Monday that he had decided to resign after nine years in power to avoid the threat of impeachment.

Pati kasaysayan sinisira

Sinabi ni Sen. Benigno Aquino, Jr. na magpa-file raw siya ng bill para amyendahan ang ‘holiday economics’ na batas ni Gloria Arroyo.

Mabuti naman at nakakainis na. Sinira na ni Gloria ang ating demokrasya sa kaniyang pagbabastos ng eleksyon. Sinira na niya ang ang check and balance mechanism ng ating pamahalaan sa pag-corrupt ng maari niyang ma-corrupt at paglagay ng kanyang mga tuta sa Ombudsman at sa Supreme Court.

Pati kasaysayan hindi pinapatawad. Sa kakalipat niya ng mga holiday, nababawasan ang kahalagahan ng ating pinagdidiwang na petsa.

A country not even his own

Last month,Meralco chair Oscar Lopez said in a forum that with what is happening now to his family in relation to the ruling power, it’s as though Ferdinand Marcos’ dictatorship had not ended.

Lopez said this following attempts by Gloria Arroyo’s avid supporter, Winston Garcia, president and general manager of the Government Service Insurance System, to takeover Meralco, the Lopez family’s flagship firm.
