Ang mga nabanggit na mga pangalan ay sina Mike Defensor, Robert Ace Barbers, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Prospero Pichay, Prospero Nograles, Ace Durano, Angelo Reyes, Rolando Andaya, Margarito Teves, Francisco Duque.
Gusto ko ang line-up ng administrasyon dahil mukhang magpipyesta ang mga botante sa Mayo. Sa lahat na survey, Social Weather Station at Pulse Asia, si Mike Defensor lamang ang lumulutang. Kahit pa ganun, hindi pa rin siya pasok sa magic 12 , katulad nina Alan Peter Cayetano at Chiz Escudero.
Siyempre ang palaging topnotcher ay sina Loren Legarda, Ping Lacson, Manny Villar, Kiko Pangilinan, at Ralph Recto.
Si Defensor, kayang-kaya hilahin pataas yan ng makinarya ng Malacañang. At siyempre hindi yan magpu-problema sa pera. Ano ang ginagawa ni Mama sa Malacañang?
Yung iba, kailangan talaga buhusan ng pera. Katulad na lamang nitong mga congressman na sina Pichay, Nograles, Zubiri, at Barbers. Ang baho-baho ng pangalan nila sa publiko sa ganilang pinagga-gawa sa impeachment laban kay Arroyo at sa Con-Ass. Katakot-takot na pera ang kailangan nilang ibuhos. Kung kailangan lang siguro, pera ang itapal nila sa kanilang mga posters, para hindi itapon ng mga tao sa basurahan.
Isipin mo na lang. Pinagpipilitan nilang i-abolish ang Senado dahil wala raw kwenta. Ngayon tatakbo sila para Senado.
Ganoon rin itong si Zubiri at Barbers na hindi naman masyadong kilala sa nasyonal maliban sa kanilang distrito. Yun mga nanakilala naman sa kanila sa nasyonal, hindi naman maganda ang reputasyon.
Siguro sasabihin nila kung nasa Senado kami, hindi na maging balakid ang Senado sa pagsulong ng bayan dahil hindi na naming pahirapan si GMA. Lalong magagalit ang taumbayan sa kanila. Dahil dalaw asa bawat tatlong Pilipino at galit kay Arroyo.
Ang dapat raw budget ng isang kandidato para senador ay P450 milyon. (Paano kaya nila babawin ito kapag manalo na sila? Siyempre sa kurakutan.) Media raw ang pinakamalaking budget. Sa political advertisement lang aabutin ng P150 milyon. Mahal yata ang ad rates ng TV. Ay ang mga bayad pa sa mga “jukebox journalists”. Yung reporter at columnist na huhulugan mo bago kumanta ng awit na gusto mo. Malaking budget din yun dahil hindi lang sa national media, pati na rin sa local media.
Kahit papaano maambunan ang mga botante. Tuwing eleksyon lang naman sila pinapansin ng mga pulitiko. Kaya re-distribution of stolen wealth and mangyayari.

Back here I can smell Election in Spring or Summer, because the current government just shuffled the cabinet and give a lot of attention to the Environment Ministry where voters are most concern now a days. The reason why I’m quite confident, because it’s the opposite from the Philippines, whereas a Bonanza for the voters and a chance to partake on politicians stolen Wealth, our is we are bamboozled by emails and letters from our Party Associations for Campaign Donations, though can be tax deductible up to 70% at a certain amount, can be a very timing just after Christmas.
Candidates can not spend their own money on Campagns and can also donate to their own campaign just like any other citizens. It all depends on party workers to raise funds for the party, but still there are limits on how much can be spent for every voters on a campaign.
But there is always an advantage for the Party in Government, because they can initiate or implement programs that are attractive to the voters, but still they have to justify financing and source without adding more to the already sky high taxes, otherwise it will just turn of the voters..for me I still have to convince family and friends to switch to my Party, Conservatives, they always like the Liberals…

Same here, Vic. I guess it is because ours has been patterned after the parliamentary system of UK. Even the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department is copied from the Scotland Yard dating back to the late 19th century. It works for the Japanese because of the similarity between Japan and UK, even the island-country mentality and fondness for rituals and ceremonies.
When we do not like the line-ups of candidates, in fact, we just do not go to the polls to vote, and when the turn out is very low, those running the government know it is a gauge of the people’s dissatisfaction with the government and they know they would have to make amends and/or make improvements, even having some politicians to take responsibility for such poor show and public response. In other words, there is the figurative chopping of heads to appease the angry public, and another election is called for. It is actually as simple as that.
Point is we have elected officials and bureaucrats, both understanding that they are public servants and are there to serve the people, and while elected officials may be put on top positions in the government, bureaucrats are there not to be their subordinates and servants the way they do in the Philippines, but a kind of helpmeet to make sure that the public is satisfied with their performances.
Iyong asal ni Great Switik, hindi puede dito. And if they do not want to act the public servant, they know they should not run for office or try to work in the government.

Whilst this administration has the power and fails to obey the rule of law a Parlimentary system would make no difference. Many people here don’t seem to understand that a parliment to work efficiently needs discipline of these officials to work honestly and truthfully within rules and the law. As we know very well if they can’t or won’t make the Constitution work then Parliment would be no different. But people with little knowledge of the Parlimentary system hope and think it would be the quick fix. Here, we need a big public debate before entertaining any thoughts of a Parlimentary system, but we know the reason its being rushed into.

From the way I understood the article, Gabby Claudio says that if businessmen do not vote for Gloria’s team, then the economy will fall. How STUPID can that be ? Even at the height the scandals that plagued Gloria’s administration, the economy was resilient. In fact, it was impressive that the economy was strong despite the political chaos ! I don’t know how true this is, but what was told me by a source in the palace, was that Gabby Claudio’s wife left him for a DI (dancing instructor); thinking it was “in”, Gabby Claudio is also “with” a DI. Your observation is well taken. Earlier and somewhere in this blog, I already wrote why I will not vote for some of the those I listed above. Diskarte ko lang naman yan na parang inunahan ko ang UNO in its final selection. In a few days and by January 15, we will know the final picture. Marami pang mangyayari sa ilang araw. Nasa hulaan blues pa lang tayo.
