Two letters

This is a first person account by my friend and fellow blogger, Joel.

Joel’s first letter to our e-group was sent last Friday. It’s heartwarming:

Last Monday, I gave a Trillanes campaign shirt and stickers to a young lady. It was during a meeting I had with a group from Bicol. This group from Bicol is supporting Sonny, Sonia Roco and Chiz Escudero. This morning while giving away Sonny’s stickers in Marikina, I ran into the very same lady. She was with a group of retired soldiers giving away Trillanes shirts and stickers. They had the stickers and shirt I gave copied. There were kids along with them. I later learned these kids are grandchildren and kids of those who were with the girl.

They then invited me to join their little caravan of six vehicles to Novaliches. Medyo traffic and a military-looking man whom I invited to ride with me handed out shirts and stickers. I did not join them anymore in going around Novaliches as I had an appointment with my dentist.

I was not introduced to the males in the group. I later learned from a driver that these are members of the Guardians. Also in the group is member of Willie Villarama’s staff.

Before I left the group in their mini campaign sortie, I had a snack with them. I learned that they have been wanting to get hold of Sonny’s campaign materials and I was god-sent daw to them.

Tinablan ako with their gesture. These are people helping Sonny in their own little way. I don’t know how many shirts we gave away. I had 250 shirts in my car and naubos namin yun before reaching Novaliches. The other cars still had boxes of shirts when I left them. Nagulat ako with the effort they put in supporting Sonny’s candidacy.

It was an overwhelming experience for me. I am glad I was given the chance to see for myself how the people support Sonny. They surveys obviously were wrong. May silent majority na sumusuporta kay Sonny. I just hope that their numbers will be enough come May 14.

I got another letter from Joel the next day. It shows malevolent forces are at work to make sure that Trillanes does not make it to the Senate where he could make it difficult for them to continue their rape of the nation.

Today, I had a bad experience. I went out to buy a cake my bunso wanted so much to try. I parked my car in an open area in Katipunan. When I got back, I was surprised to see very deep scratches on the doors and a big portion of my compartment. My Trillanes stickers were torn off which gave me the impression that it was done to teach me a lesson.

Though it’s 10 years old, I love this car so much that you wouldn’t notice its age. I’m in the process of supping it up into a racing model, just like the cars in the Fast and the Furious. I just spent P58,000 on its paint alone. I had the paint customized, it’s black with silver glitters.

Nakakainis talaga. Just because I support Trillanes, someone would actually stoop so low as to vandalize another’s property. I have reported it and the insurance will cover it. They had it estimated and the repair would cost P12,000. But because I had my paint customized, I will be shelling out another P15,000 of my own money.

Hassle talaga I could have donated the amount to Sonny’s campaign. Some people are really weird. Ang babaw talaga.

“Nakakainis talaga. Just because I support Trillanes, someone would actually stoop so low as to vandalize another’s property.”

same here…my stickers are always torn out..left the car in a public parking lot in cubao, a lot in Manila, then along one of the roads in the parking lot of a Cubao LTO office..so what does it say?..i park in makati but never did i encounter anything like it. parked it in mcdo near DLSU and in Ateneo parking lot, nobody touched it…good thing i saved some stickers for myself…..funny but when people pass me by, they would try to look at the people inside my vehicle…my trillanes sticker is at the rear windshield….sadly i had to take it out for the time being as it is my 6th time to replace it…

i hope our friend blogger be very vigilant, lest something untoward happens to him which we dont want to happen…take care dear friend…mga kabayan!!! GO para sa pagbabago,
Go para sa pagkakaiba! PAgbabago at pagkakaiba para umusad!

  6. Funny, Ellen, but there was no asterisks on the name of Trillanes in the list provided by the Comelec, but there were two next to the name of Allan Peter S. Cayetano.

Nevertheless, it is most likely that the Unano is now preparing to order all the 11 GO senatorial candidates disqualified should they all win the Senate seats. If that is not calling for the whole Philippine nation to revolt, what is?

  7. As for the vandalism as described by Joel, I have not heard of such barbarism in fact in real democratic Japan, because people here know that such items cost big money.

And people there call themselves democratic and pious Christians!!! Yuck!

Another questionable thing is that many of the partylists in the list provided by the Comelec to voters in Japan are not in the list provided voters in the USA according to a friend when I exchanged notes with him.

Also, as I have mentioned earlier, PEP Coalition is also one of the partylists Comelec is apparently cautioning OFWs not to vote for as PEP Coalition’s name is followed by 5 asterisks.

This may turn out to be the worst election the Philippines has ever had, I believe.

A lot of the people in the list are non-existent, and/or no longer in the country. Kaya maraming babalik na voting kits sa Comelec which sent those packages from Manila. Ang trick, pagdating ng mga ballots kuno doon, iyong lutong makaw na mga ballots kuno ang ipapadala sa Japan with note that they were mistakenly missent to Manila which is impossible because the return envelopes are addressed to the Philippine Embassy or Consulate with no indication that they should be returned to Manila (Comelec) and postage shouldered by the voters. Sinong niloloko nila!

We are encouraging Filipinos in Japan to protest against counting any ballots that are delivered from the Comelec on May 14. The civilians they are hiring to watch those ballots should be concerned enough a citizen to protest against any attempt to cheat in favor of and for the Unano, who is not their employer but the Republic of the Philippines—meaning the taxpayers!!! Time for bureaucrats in the Philippines to understand that and make the distinction.

  9. OFWs starting casting their ballots yesterday, the 14th of April.

There are a lot many disenfranchised again.

A friend who voted in 2004 said she had not yet received her voting kit.

Aside from Vandalism that everyone has to be aware of, I just received an e-mail from a friend in the US warning about robbery modus operandi which could happen to anyone, anywhere. Supposed to be, 2 men would approached you and asked you what’s your favorite perfume. Then they’ll tell you that they have branded perfumes they’re selling for very cheap prices and if you’d like to try it first. If you smell it, then it’s your disaster. It’s not perfume you’re going to inhale but ETHER! And when you pass out, that’s their turn to rob you with everything they can find from you or inside your car. Let’s pass this information around because my friend said, it’s been happening around not only in the states but in other countries as well for quite sometime now!

  11. This should read, “OFWs STARTED casting their ballots yesterday, the 14th of April.”

  12. Elvie: it’s been happening around not only in the states but in other countries as well for quite sometime now!
    *****

Never heard of in Japan. Elvie, because the Japanese are not fond of buying cheap perfume if they have money. Only those with less buy bargain unless it is a bargain at the exclusive stores like Chanel store, etc. Bagay kasi hindi naman maraming magnanakaw dito. Maraming magnanakaw, mga foreigner!

  13. Yuko, the reason why there is no asterisk on Trillanes’ name is because there is no pending disqualification case against him while Allan Cayetano has two.

  14. Ellen,

There was one asterisk next to the name of Noynoy, and it says there it is a question of party affiliation. Importante ba iyon? Over here, candidates run independent if they want to even when they belong to some distiguished party like the Governor of Tokyo, Ishihara Shintaro, who ran for the 3rd time as governor of Tokyo without carrying the name of his party of affiliation, the Jiminsto or Liberal-Democractic Party.

And they call that “democratic”?

As I had mentioned from my previous post, here’s the caption–Oreta, Esperon, GMA, FVR–Most Distrusted–April 12,2007 at 1:15 PM.—Being perceived as effective means being surrounded by malevolent enemies who are capable of stopping a politician’s good intention.

Be careful, because they are an organized structure intimidator who has the capacity for such an operation whose aim is to undermine the campaigning strategy of the opposition. Their political repression is a terrible reminder that the opposition must be able to pursue their aspirations and determine their own political conquest. We all know that Trillanes is vividly embodies with extraordinary courage, he took a strong and courageous stand for what he know was right, he risk his freedom in the ongoing struggle for the present corrupt government .His honor, decency, and the will of the people to vote for him will triumph over fraud, deceit and intimidation. And because of his great courage, the Rule of Law prevail against the oppressive rule of punggok and the idiot four star general esperong. Keep up on campaigning for Trillanes,Joel! We are behind and supporting you!

  18. Para ano daw iyong asterisk?

  19. Ellen, di dapat iyang pangalan ni Gloria – anywhere it’s written should have at least 10 asterisks because she should have been disqualified 10 x over.

Kaya kailangan, Gloria Macapal Arroyo y Pidal ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤.

(Sorry, my keyboard has gone on strike, can’t locate the asterisk – coz it reverted to bloddy Flemish.)

  20. chi chi

It’s been three days of stormy weather from where I am.

Two stories related to Trillanes, the first one touches the heart, while the second is nakakabwisit!

Takot ang EK kay Trillanes because his win will become a big headache for Tianak and Assperon kaya pati mga supporters ni Trillanes ay kanilang tinatakot.

  23. cocoy cocoy

    Chi;
    Welkam bak!

There are still many who are belittling the candidacy of Trillanes and minimize his chances because he is behind bars. I haven’t had the chance yet to read his other campaign leaflets but I could see that there is really a strong reason why is running and foremost of which is, he wants to be heard.

It’s the same line being adhered to by a prominent medical practitioner in Pasig City, Dr. Fernando Melendres, a candidate for the lone congressional district of Pasig. As emailed to me by a former classmate, Dr. Melendres’ statement is likened to what Trillanes would like to let us know when he said:

“Remember this. Politics, particularly a political campaign, isn’t simply a matter of winning or losing or of getting elected or rejected. A political campaign is the most important aspect of a democracy because that’s about the only time when the mass of voters get informed and educated on issues that matter to their life, their health and their security. A democracy isn’t only about governance. It is, above all, about the highest form of public education and that’s what an electoral campaign is all about. And that’s why, particularly in these times, those who feel strongly about certain public issues, should run.”

    Chi & Sleeplees:
Trillanes is on the verge of a roaring eagle and ready to fight and I am confident that he will win, he is like a stealth fighter silently conquering his opponent.—–Continue pouring support for him—

    Magdalo;
    Kudos, Amigo!
Trillanes will win! Although I went to some lengthy argument around the corner and in the coffee shop that he does not have any political experience. I agree, on that comment. But, here is my insight. Doctors have to go to medical school and pass the board exam before they become physician and treat patients, same as, lawyers must pass the bar exam before become a member of the court. Even mechanics need an apprenticeship before becoming certified technicians, But, in Politics ,No Experience Required. His lack of experience in politics has no bar for him in running. Yes, he can be a risk-taker, but, he’s most likely to focus on the problem than the command of the self serving interest of the lapdogs. And, for better or worst he’ll embrace the idea that seems to ambitious, unworkable or even looney to his veteran colleagues in the senate.

He is more likely to win this election under particular circumstances. He is handsome, courageous and underdog, as what Fernando had said we glorify the Api. He fare best because the TU are all greedy trapos and their political warfare has turned off voters and the government of Arroyo is facing corruptions and other crisis. When the traditional politician don’t seem up to the challenge of the day, voters are more willing to take a change with somebody new. Trillanes Rises to Occasion. That is my foresight about Trillanes, Magdalo!

The argument that federalism helps to secure democracy and human rights has been influenced by the contemporary public choice theory. It has been argued that in smaller political units, individuals can participate more directly than in a monolithic unitary government. Moreover, individuals dissatisfied with conditions in one state have the option of moving to another. Of course, this argument assumes that a freedom of movement between states is necessarily secured by a federal system.

  34. alegadown alegadown

pareng cocoy, let it be known that in politics most of your enemies had no faces. you don’t even know them cause they are not just a political opponent…. perhaps, experience may not be a prerequisite yet knowing what to do and what really you can do to all the people that surrounds you is the best thing for you. our country is really very sick of all the corruptions left and right, here and there… aside from impeachment and overthrow that current government what more they can do and offer to solve these issues? they should let the people know…..

corruption is more than the dreaded aids in which doctors, pharmacist and chemist are still squeezing their brains to find the cure… just like entering into a trial in which you don’t have any idea where to favor, whether to the defense panel or to the prosecution…. unless until you are willing to listen to both sides arguments and make up your mind…..

neophytes… really are hot blooded, they’re just like new pma graduates… excited to be included in combat operations wishing to be appreciated by superiors upon accomplishing their missions…. yet politics is not that way around….. as they says that in politics there are no permanent friends and no permanent enemies…. well, it means that whoever your friends today might be your enemies the next day and vise versa….. truth is you can never please everybody….

  35. Ellen:

Your blog was inaccessible again between 11 am and 3 pm Manila time. But anyway, here’s another note from Arkibo for those voting for the partylist. Kahit may asterisks, iboto ninyo. It will be the will of the people VS Comelec ang labas niyan pagnagkataon. Time to show these crooks who their real bosses are—ang taumbayan!!!

Ano ba ‘yan?!

  42. soleil soleil

Chi..pati ba naman yung st luke’s gusto nilang sakupin? bakit sila na ba ang may-ari ng St Luke’s?!!??!! super kapal ng 2 mokong na yun ah…fartso and tyanak are really peeing in their pants…talagang insecure na sila. i amsure they already have an exit plan when worst comes to worst. malamang may nakahandang private jet ang pamilya kurakot either in fort boni or in clark…kaya todo kamkam nman ng mga herodes nila ang mga military camps na pwedeng pagkasyahan ng chopper or may airfield…

  43. soleil soleil

pati PEPCOALITION tiniira ni abalos-ulyanin? tarantado talaga ang mga yan…puro bayaran tlaga sila!!!!! wait till Philip Piccio hears about this….

  44. Malaya news says, “COMMISSION on Elections chair Benjamin Abalos Sr. yesterday said it is still too early to be disappointed over the low turnout of Filipinos for the overseas absentee voting (OAV) exercise since the voting has just started and Filipinos have a tendency to procrastinate.”

This midterm election is definitely going to be the dirtiest.

  46. chi chi

    Soleil,

Aba, lalong nagkakampanya ang aking mga pinsan for Trillanes after that incident. My cousin said that in his Q.C. neighborhood ay pumapatok pa raw si Trillanes.

If there’s a group that needs total support of the pinoys, isa diyan ang PEP Coalition. Malakas ang binabangga ninyo Soleil!

    Pareng Alegadown;
Re;”Hindi parliamentary system ang gusto mo kundi Federalism”.

Yeah! You read my blueprint, and you are smart to read my mind. Hehehehe!
It is about time to change the form of our government to avoid the present massive corruption. As I can see, our elected politician applied wrong systems of government, they could not rule and run our country well, they are greedy who satisfy their ambition in power and in the process they have ruined our country, they looted our treasures and suppressed civil and human rights, and who can stop them? Is a big question mark…If we can change the present form of government, is a big relief. All of us know that it is the President, who holds all the power in our country right now, her wicked thinking causes all the muddle, as we know she is a little person who sits in a chair bigger than her, she’s the one who holds our destiny and, therefore,we let her acts she likes without any restrain from her squadrons and battalion of corrupt politicians. The truth is that she is the chief servant of the people and not the master of the people.–Time to change the bulok system na noong pang panahon ni Limahong. As we can see, today those countries which have federal form of government are leading in the world, especially from the economic point of view. Such as the countries like: USSR, Germany, USA, Switzerland and the rest are following the federal form.—Maybe, we can talk the advantages of federal form nexttime.I don’t like parliamentary form of government, mayayaman lang ang magiging minister d’yan at magiging dynasty and the worst it will be a lifetime career for them.

  51. chi chi

    Cocoy,

Only this morning that my hubby and I discussed about the form of government that would fit Pinas. I also like a federal one, kasi ay napapag-iwanan ang ibang parte ng Pinas.

Ginawa na ang gayong pandaraya in the last election.

  54. BOB BOB

  56. BOB BOB

sorry Ystakei, got your name misspelled…

  57. TonGuE-tWisTeD TonGuE-tWisTeD

Nakakapagtaka kung bakit despite that, napakababa, according to the news, ng voter turnout sa OAV centers.

    2. Kung bumoto sila nung 2004, bakit hindi ngayon?
    3. Marami bang sadyang na-disenfranchised ngayon? O tinatamad na lang?
    4. Magsisihabol ba sila sa last minute?

  58. Tongue,

Gloria won in Belgium in 2004 with Ping taking second place and FPJ a distant third, but of course, that was what the chargé d’affaires told me – there was really nobody (I didn’t go and check because I was in Paris to vote) to confirm that except for the embassy people themselves.

  59. TonGuE-tWisTeD TonGuE-tWisTeD

Maging Nasyunal man o Lokal!

    Meron ba?

  60. TonGuE-tWisTeD TonGuE-tWisTeD

    Anna,
And that’s the same tall tale all over the planet, that Gloria was the OFWs bet.

Update dito sa Region 10, malapit nang maging buo ang support base from the Guardian Philippines, Inc (GPI) and Philippine Guardian Brotherhood, Inc (PGBI).

First time kong sumabak sa ganitong pagkampanya kaya sana mabigyan ninyo kami ng suggestions or bright ideas.

Pasensya na kung hindi ko mabigyan ng commentaryo isa-isa ang mga comments ninyo, paalis na ulit kami towards eastern towns (going to Camiguin and Gingoog city) to continue postering and being with people for Trillanes.

Mga tol, birthday ko nga ngayon pero walang time out dito sa campaign.

I like this guy!

    Pareng Alegadown;
I agree with your comment that in politics most of your enemies had no faces.–It’s definitely politically correct. My stand, to these kind of bozo politician, is that they can go to hell! We as a people can only be ignored and taken advantage of so much before we just tune ourselves out. In spite of their failure to serve us, we must let them know directly in their faces and ignore them by not voting for them. We must demand our rightful authority over this politicians and be adamant in making them serve their responsibilities and their servitude toward us. We are not here to serve them or to fund their self interest. We can not allow them to damage or curtail our way of life anymore than they already have.–It is not them–it is us, we, the people matter!..Danugin ko pa sila Manong pag loloko-loko sila sa akin.

Too many families have, and continue to suffer needlessly because of our present corrupt administration, the predicaments are surmounting and worsening since punggok grabbed power. We must bring her carelessness and negligence to a screeching halt. We have to do that, what we must do? Ay simpol lang siguro Manong–One plus one ay equals two– kaya boto ka na sa GO….Mga Misis Boto n’yo Trillanes para malinis!

  66. cocoy cocoy

    Chi;
Maybe,we can discuss a topic of Federal Government sa susunod na talakayan.

  67. Tongue T:

Nabisto namin ang dayaan sa Tokyo noong 2004. Simple arithmetic lang. Iyong discrepancy may explanation in fact coming from a reliable source kaya laqng hindi siya puwedeng bumalandra.

The more the merrier sabi nga! Good luck sa inyo! Mabuhay kayo!

  69. Happy Birthday pala, Magdalo! Sana walang magtangka sa buhay mo sa ginagawa mo. Baka malagyan ka rin ng asterisks!!!! 😛

  70. Chi: I like this guy.

thank you Yuko for the advise. i already sent your emails and Emil’s (w/o ur names of course!)re the irregularity.
yes Chi…super laki ang mga kabangga naming mga maliliit na magulang. and to think all we want is what is due us. not even us directly but our children’s education. marami na namang madadagagang mga bata ang hindi makakapagpatuloy sa kanilang pinapasukan. marami sa mga batang babae ay mapapa-sabak maging GRO, mga lalaki na papatol mag-moonlighting para mapilitang maiahon ang kanilang sarili at makatapos kahit paano. may mga high school na nsa private ang hindi rin muna mag-papatuloy. aasahan nating parang sardinas na naman ang mga public school sa pasukan. and this is what pandak is boasting about!..LECHE NYA!!!!! taon-taon ay nadaragdagan ang mga nag-p*p*ta dahil hindi sapat kahit sila ay magparttime khit sa jolibee or mcdo. minsan ang iba, kahit na doon gustong pumasok ay hindi makapasok dahil hindi makapasa sa criteria nila.

  73. Alegadown and Nelbar,

Federalism is not the topic here. It’s clear that you are purposely and maliciously trying to derail the discussion here. I will not allow that.

  74. Mrivera Mrivera

  75. Magdalo, Happy Birthday and Good Luck!

I met another of your member yesterday at the Black and White launching of the White List, Black List – Fermin Mabulo (PMA Class ’95), running for mayor in San Fernando, Camarines Sur.

He is the younger brother of Sabas “Abang” Mabulo, who is running against Dato Arroyo. Fermin is running for the position that Abang vacated.

Fermin, who was not in Oakwood, was detained for three months in 2003. he is no longer with the AFP.

  76. nelbar nelbar

    salamat na marami …just sharing

  79. Trillanes was finally interviewed by TV today. I just saw TV patrol.Interview by Korina Sanchez. It was good. In fighting form against corruption. He didn’t regret what he did although he paid a high price for that. Aside from his freedom, he lost a child while in detention.

He said Gloria Arroyo will cheat again this election in the same way that she cheated in 2004. Full interview will be shown tomorrow on Korina Today, ANC at 1 pm.

  80. magdalo sa region 10 magdalo sa region 10

ellen, thanks for the information. yah i got a text message about the interview last night over TV patrol. Unfortunately our new safe house has no TV set yet. I’d rather spend the money to campaign for Trillanes. I will try to hang around some coffee shops with TV for tomorrow’s complete rolling of that interview.

  81. Magdalo, you may try to catch the replay saturday, and sunday, ANC. I’ll get the schedule of replays. Thre will be more interviews of him. On Monday, he will be on ANC, Halalan 2007 again at 6 pm.

There are schedules for interviews with Channel 7.

  82. Last replay of Trillanes interview by Korina Sanchez:
