This temporary freedom is a ray of light for Honasan. He seem to be ahead in the polls anyway. Maybe he does not really need additional time to campaign anymore. But since he represents one of the oppressed by this bogus regime, I welcome the development in his case.

  3. soleil soleil

the threat to pandak is only one person now…Trillanes!…lam nyang si Honasan ay may mga benefactors and Honasan will be campaigning quietly. But with Trillanes, alam ng EK na maalab at mainit ang pagtanggap sa kanya kung sakaling papalayain sya pansamantala. Trillanes brings hope to the frustrated and is the epitome of the young and idealist!..as Trillanes mentioned, for him; it is a one-shot deal! hindi pareho ni pandak at karamihan ng trapo na pinagpipilitan ang sarili at hindi nahihiya na kaya sila nilalapitan ng tao ay kasi namumudmod sila ng pera!

Hmmmp!Something fishy! let me make sure before I comment.

  5. Hmmmm.

Ok. So if a bozo like Honasan is “freed on bail”, there are sinister forces behind it.

But if another bozo like Trillianes walks free, the “sponsor” will be venerated like a saint.

Kawawa nga naman talaga ang Pilipinas. Political discussion can’t seem to rise beyond whether one if for or against a sitting incumbent.

Kelan kaya tayo magkakaroon ng issues- and platforms-based political exercise?

If the opposition wins, will they remain “united” once they lay their fat arses on the seats of Congress? Historical data seems to say otherwise.

And then the cycle starts again. Another “united” opposition in the next elections, and yet another demonised incumbent to “unite” against.

That’s Pinoy politics in the next 50-100 years.

Mang Benigno, por dyos por santo! You’re insulting Ma’m Ellen by insinuating that this blog “offer hollow-headed gossip”! Magaling na kung magaling ang iyong website but you don’t have to go as far as insulting Ma’m Ellen’s. But I know you have no shame that’s why you keep coming and jabbing at everybody else including the blog owner.

Well I may have “insinuated” as you said (that’s your interpretation). But would making me go away (and with due respect to Ms. Ellen, it’s her prerogative to boot me out at her pleasure) change, prove, or disprove any such insinuations that you perceive me to be making?

Maybe the reason that “naguguluhan” kayo with my comments is that they are in fact thought provoking comments.

As I said before, it’s really what Ms. Ellen thinks this blog is all about. Is it a fans club of anti-incumbent politicians? Or is it a forum for exchanging ideas about the issues.

Just some food for thought, mga kabayans.

It’s not in the character of Ma’m Ellen to telll you to go away. You should voluntarily cease and desist blogging here. Others did it already, why can’t you have some shame? Your posts are never thought provoking but continued assault to the bloggers and insult to the blog owner. And what food for thought you are talking about?

  12. Ellen,

I hate distractions, too. I don’t read the guy as a matter of fact, but everytime someone answers him, we are distracted. Maganda kung walang magulo at kung hindi man kapareho ng opinion natin, he/she should be civilized enough to follow some netiquette to maintain the good flow of discussions here, especially if Filipinos want to show other peoples that they are no longer the proverbial “white man’s burden,” and worthy of other peoples’ respect. This ass slaving down under is accomplishing nothting but has definitely gained the ire of people who cannot help but read the trash he seems to litter here. Yikes! Kadiri!

Well if it is moi you are talking about, I challenge you then to cite some clear examples of where I violate “netiquette”.

I neither speculate about the personal circumstances of the commentors here nor do I tell people to “shut up” or “go away” if I don’t like what they say.

All I do is challenge conventional and popular thinking by presenting alternative views and angles. If you perceive these alternatives as “distractions” and cannot tolerate them as such then you are no better than people who kill journalists because they are distractions to their own personal agendas.

    .
Well that’s my entire point, isn’t it? If we all strive to see a different future (i.e. different from the chronic mediocrity we’ve seen year in and year out), then don’t you think we owe it to ourselves to not only strive to conduct ourselves differently but also to think differently?

    As Einstein said:

Problems can’t be solved using the same thinking that created them.

And I keep saying here and again:

    What are we doing differently?
How different is the nature of political discussion today from those udertaken in 2005, 2000, and 1986?
What is different about the way we advocate or condemn (evaluate) the current crop of politicians?

  24. parasabayan parasabayan

Benigno, you are generations ahead of today. Your triangular-character, politics and economy is kind of very idealistic for me. Maybe you and I and all the other bloggers can start a school where we can start from scratch and teach the young kids to be idealistic, nationalistic and be tough. It will take a tough position to be against the grain which is what it will take to turn our nation around. Still, we have to deal with what is plaguing our country before we can institute your doctine. We have to deal with the staggering poverty, corruption, lack of basic structures and services. Our country is laying on the ground, helpless. Her blood oozing from all the wounds all of us inflicted on her by those who participate in corruption such as vote selling and buying; indolence by those who prefer to bear children they can exploit instead of working for the family’s welfare; by those who simply watch the decay of the society instead of having the initiative to make a difference. The list can go on and on. But it will take a lot of villages to work together to get our feet on the ground. So much of our resources (people and nature) have been ravaged. It will take generations to undo the damage.

The court’s decision to free Honasan on bail shows that our legal system can still work. Whether somebody’s hand is behind the release, still it may be a step to the right direction. One can not be incarcerated just because he has conflicting ideologies to that of the incumbent.

It is healthy for any society to have different ideologies. These opposing views can stimulate people’s participation in the country’s issues. It is also a check and balance for any malfunctioning governance. Suppression can breed discontent.

Communism is now a thing of the past. China is not even practicing strict doctine of communism anymore. In fact, why are all the world leaders wanting to do business with China? Some eastern and central European countries which used to be communist countries are now embracing democracy. For sure these countries still have hard core communistic ideologies but they learned to blend for the sake of unity and progress. Why can’t we?

Sang-ayon ako sa sinabi mo, noypinoy! We have to test our stand against an opposing stand. This, I think, is how we can be assured that we are on the right track. If we have the same opinion, one post would have been enough to represent everybody else’s posts.

Honasan freed on bail? This may be a good indication that there is still hope. The judidary, at least in high profile cases, had so far shown independence in resolving questions of law.

At least, now we know how Abalos and Company intend to cheat for their amo. Pero bistado na sila. So, who says that Filipinos are a hopeless lot. Helpless right now maybe kasi walang armas, but hopeless, I doubt.

Imagine, getting votes even without being there to campaign in person. Bilib ako doon sa mga supporters niya. 38. Maybe you and I and all the other bloggers can start a school where we can start from scratch and teach the young kids to be idealistic, nationalistic and be tough.

    .
The latter three adjectives you used are ok. But I think the right thing to teach kids is (1) to be critical thinkers, (2) to be spirtiual but secular, and (3) tough. Note that I agree with your last adjective.

    .
Why these three? Well, it is because:

    (1) Pinoys’ minds need to be freed from old thinking and be able to question and evaluate even their most cherished beliefs. In this way, the medieval ideas of traditional politicians and religious leaders (who themselves are now almost indistinguishable from politicians) become less appealing to them;

    (2) Spirituality involves an inner peace and an ethical/moral constitution that emanates from within (compared to one that is enforced by religious dogma that derives power from morbid guilt ingrained into us since childhood) and is therefore more natural and sustanable; and

    (3) Toughness in the face of crushing peer pressure to embrace popular but mediocre ideas. Note here that a lone voice that begs to differ to popular ideas requires resilience and fortitude. The prevalence of corruption in fact is partly due to weak minds succumbing to its prevalence and popular appeal to most Pinoys. Doing and thinking the right thing in Pinoy society is indeed a lonely job and most corrupt people started out saying to themselves “if you can’t beat them, join them”.

There’s a latest brickbrats that Honasan is going to replace one of TU candidates. Three names mentioned are: Cesar Montano, Jamalul Kiram and Chavit Singson due to their poor showing in the surveys. The speculation emanated from the sudden release of Honasan which took many by surprise. Dellon Porcalla of Philippine Star tells it all.

    Sleepless:
You might be right in your prediction that Honasan will replace TU candidates who is doing poor, for the midget’s insurance to prolong her usurped power. I am being reluctant with Honasan. As I had stated in my previous post, something smell fishy. His background of being a political adventurer, is set off a bidding war between two sides, which Gloria ultimately won. That was likely the reason why he was released on bail so that he can concentrated in campaigning and at the same time give some booster to a weak battery of TU to re-start their engine. In the process, he can deliver a serious blow to GO. Now, we learned that Honasan had no party allegiance, he was simply available to a highest bidder. As, I said it before and I will say it again, He is a risky-commodity, being close and a puppet of Enrile.

He is repeated story of a man with no solid party and principle, A man once idolized and solid as a rock in an ever changing political world, a transformation of Houdini,”Now you see, Now you don’t”.He is a turncoat plain and simple, What, if and will, the solid opposition win, as we inevitably hope, I wonder! will he switch back?

as for benign0, he’s been banned so many times in other forums already for causing trouble. but i don’t advocate for this serial troll’s banning yet unless he does something really stupid (which is likely to happen anytime soon…).

considering his previous troublemaking actions in other similar forums and how he spams the forums and blogs to get people to visit his site, he should be on a short leash.

kung sasama si gringo sa mga alagang aso ni gloria, ang susuporta lamang sa kanyang kandidatura mula sa milyong miyembro ng GUARDIANS ay ‘yung mga nasa paligid lamang niya. subukan niyang mag-declare, even during the last minutes of his campaign and i will circulate a NO VOTE for him being a pioneer organizer of GUARDIANS chapters in different parts of saudi arabia and totally severe my ties and confidence in him.

    yuko,

  72. Ellen, All:

8 GO and 3 TUTA kulang ng isa!!!

Calling all OFWs!

  74. Now, I know kung bakit nanalo si Cuneta sa Tsukuba dito. Kasi marami daw siyang mga naging kaklase sa mga pilipinong bumoto sa kaniya doon and not really because of Sharon!!!

Ngeeeeekkkk, what a dirty, dirty, dirty sub symbol! LOL!
