Protecting personal dignity and honor

During the campaign for last May’s election, the slimy guns of Malacañang were aimed at Alan Peter Cayetano, who was rating high in pre-election surveys largely because Mike Arroyo tried to have him expelled from the House of Representatives after he told the Filipino people about a multimillion-dollar stash in a German bank.

Malacañang ignored Antonio Trillanes IV because they all thought he was not going to win anyway. After all, until a week before election, surveys showed him down in the list.

To everybody’s relief, Cayetano won, despite Joselito Cayetano. To everybody’s surprise, Trillanes also won.

Recovering from their initial shock, Gloria Arroyo and her demolition experts are again at work. Complementing the Department of Justice’s official position opposing the detained senator’s request to be allowed to perform his duties, Malacañang has activated its dirty tricks department to operate against Trillanes.

So far, they have come up with rehashed black propaganda they spread in 2003, immediately after the July 27 Oakwood incident.

We are reprinting here Trillanes’ letter of August 29, 2003 published in the Daily Tribune which belied all the lies peddled by the Arroyo’s operators. Ironically, this letter is stored online in the government’s website: http://www.gov.ph/forum/thread.asp?rootID=12604&catID=11

Due to space limitations, we are running Trillanes’ letter, which he titled “In protection of personal dignity and honor” in two parts.

“This is to address the issues raised in the media against us during the last two weeks as part of the government’s intensified “demolition job” against my person, which did not even spare my family. This is very unfortunate. They are apparently doing this in the hope that if my reputation is tarnished, the message we want to convey will also be stained as well. They have failed miserably. They are able, however, to temporarily distract the people from absorbing the true causes we have espoused when we went to Oakwood last July 27. To protect my personal dignity and the honor of my family and my loved ones, I am forced to defend myself through this letter.

“The government, using the entire machinery and resources of the state, came up with the following accusations: (1) That I own eight luxurious vehicles; (2) That I had a P1 million investment at Glasgow; (3) That I am an incorporator of FYI Research and Consulting Group Inc.; and (4) That ammunition and explosives were supposedly found in my “house” in Talipapa Village in Novaliches, Quezon City.

“According to government reports, I own a 2001 model Mitsubishi Pajero with license plate RIZ-222, a 1996 Nissan Terrano, a 1995 Kawasaki motorbike and five second-hand Japan-surplus Delicas. In truth, however, I only own the second-hand 1996 Nissan Terrano and it is not a luxury vehicle as compared to the Expeditions, Land Cruisers, Lexuses and Jaguars that many government and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) officials own. I have never ever owned a Pajero or Kawasaki motorbike. In fact, I have never driven and I do not know how to ride a motorbike, not even once in my life. My license restriction can easily prove this fact.

“As for the Pajero with license plate RIZ-222, the true owner thereof, a certain Darlito Roca, operations officer of Lydia’s Lechon, has surfaced to claim and acknowledge his ownership thereof. This only goes to prove that this government will go to the extent of fabricating and manufacturing even crude evidence just to smear my name.

“With regard to the five Delicas, the actual and beneficial owner thereof is my mother, a businesswoman who bought the same from the proceeds of a P2 million loan she obtained from a bank sometime in October 2000. Delicas are not luxury vehicles. In fact, they can be bought in lots for as low as P100,000 to P150,000 each. The intention was to operate a van rental service using these vehicles. These old vehicles, however, proved too costly to maintain. Hence, my mother opted to sell and dispose some of them.

“The very idea that I would buy five vehicles of the same model and make for my personal use is quite absurd and illogical. The government obviously has very little respect for the intelligence of our people to concoct such a flimsy and dubious story. Again, these are not luxury vehicles and most definitely they are not mine! My mother’s van rental business still operates to this day. It is duly registered with the Department of Trade and Industry under her name and is properly stamped and licensed by the Caloocan City Hall.”

“Regarding my alleged P1 million investment in Glasgow: It is true that my name is included among the list of the thousands victimized by Glasgow’s sudden closure. The money, however, does not belong to me but to my mother. The said funds came from the same P2 million bank loan obtained in October 2000; she invested the same with Glasgow so the interest could cover the amortization and/or maintenance of the Delicas. Contrary to the information released by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), my mother never had the chance to cash in on the investment since it closed down before the post-dated checks they issued matured. These uncashed checks are still with us.

“The government makes an issue out of the fact that my name appears as an incorporator of FYI Research and Consulting Group Inc., with a very minimal investment of P12,500.

“The truth is that the company was formed by my best friend, Rolando Averilla, an instructor at the Asian Institute of Management. He invited me to join the company as a consultant and asked me to design the research format/template of the company. I readily accepted because I was then on schooling or study leave from my job at the AFP. I also took it as an opportunity to learn and further my knowledge in the said field and as part of my academic training while in school. I was also then contemplating on the possibility of shifting to another profession.

“Is this a crime? No! As I have indicated above, even though I was still in the active service with the AFP, there is no conflict of interest between my job at the AFP, where I was on schooling or on study leave and my being a part-time consultant at FYI. The fact is, I was even twice recognized as a university scholar (or president’s lister) and once as a college scholar (or dean’s lister) while studying in University of the Philippines, showing that I was never remiss in my duties as an officer in the AFP on schooling/study leave.”

The black propaganda this administration will unleash against Sen. Trillanes will not hold water anymore. The eleven million voters have spoken and they cast their lot with somebody whom they perceived to become their voice in the Senate. The eleven million voters plus their families now comprise almost half of our population. The man they ignored first because he is behind bars and with no political machinery to run his candidacy is now the man the administration are out to destroy because he’s telling the truth. The people have long waited for this kind of man who’s straightforward and never wavered on his statement that for this country to move up, Gloria Arroyo must step down. This man Trillanes is the new star in the Philippine political scene.

No amount of black proganda to bismirch his honor and dignity can convince the people to turn their back on him. No black propaganda will deter his determination to pursue his dreams of the much needed change in the government and in the military. No black knight in this blog can a make a dent in our belief that Sen. Trillanes is here to stay and will become a real hero to every Filipino who love this country freed from a tyrannical ruler who is actually a pretender to the throne I hereby nominate Sen. Trillanes as the Man of the Year.

Im not a black night but I really think in time Trillanes will turn out just a fraud. A shallow-minded nuisance I may say, too much babbling and no direction at all. A lose cannon with very limited scope and range. I won’t be surprised if he will resort to another mutiny in the future because thats the only thing he knows.

Well, people here adore him so much probably because he has charisma and “good-looking” :o) well thats all there is to it.

  3. xanadu,

(I love this Olivia Newton-John song!)

Tulfo, Montalvan and Olivares-Cunanan are digging the issues again, hoping that their readers won’t dig and cross-check their allegations. We’re lucky to have diligent people among us here who dug this old letter up (was it Skip or Tongue?). It made me laugh when I read Tulfo’s article detailing the issues and ending hi column with a call for Senator Trillanes to answer the allegations. Little did he know that the answers were already there even before he posed his questions… or, maybe just pretended not to know?

    biboy:

I won’t contest your opinion about Senator Trillanes, and I guess, nobody here ever will. You are entitled to that. Though, most of us here disagree, I believe, all of us will find your opinion unworthy of attention and much too shallow to deserve a dignified rebuttal. Request lang, ‘Dre. Don’t speak for us. Our admiration for the good senator goes way deeper than looks and charisma.

  4. Valdemar Valdemar

Dignity and honor, that’s in question. But we can discuss more of looks and charisma. I can upload my picture here, those in favor, say Aye. No need to say anything for those unfavorable.

  5. From Yoly Tuadles:

I empathize with Antonio Trillanes because I know he is a victim of the government’s underhanded demolition job. Any citizen who is a potential political figure in this land is wickedly maligned and persecuted.

A few days ago, I chanced to read Ramon Tulfo’s column attacking the integrity of the senator regarding his unexplained wealth. It is sad that truth and justice are two virtues that are already stricken out of our political vocabulary. Bribes and lies are the words that replaced these.

Honestly, I believe that Senator Trillanes little finger has more integrity than the entire GMA administration. I just hope that he will continue to be the true patriot that we expect him to be. I was so dismayed by Chiz Escudero and Allan Cayetano. The
people voted for them thinking that they are true oppositionists and fiscalizers. How can they fiscalize when they already jumped to the administration bandwagon.

As for Manny Villar, my admiration for him was replaced with skepticism as to whether he will make a good president with his underhanded horsetrading just to keep the Senate presidency.

Press on Senator Trillanes, there are millions of Filipinos out there who need you. The odds might be tough but with God and the people on our side, we will get there. God bless.

  6. TonGuE-tWisTeD TonGuE-tWisTeD

“Im not a black night but I really think in time Trillanes will turn out just a fraud.”

Oh yeah, and Gloria is a genuine president.

“A shallow-minded nuisance I may say, too much babbling and no direction at all.”

If that’s true, then you CAN be a senator, biboy!

“A lose (sic) cannon with very limited scope and range. I won’t be surprised if he will resort to another mutiny in the future because thats the only thing he knows.”

Mutiny? By a civilian? Hahaha! Further, you can’t be in the University List (weighted average of 1.25) in UP if you know nothing.

“Well, people here adore him so much probably because he has charisma and “good-looking” :o) well thats all there is to it.”

Wrong again! People here like him and believe in him for what he says about the whore! (whore = woman who screws you then takes your money)

You got it all wrong, dude. You ARE a black knight!

    Try harder next time.

  7. cocoy cocoy

    Biboy:
The time when Trillanes filed his certificate of candidacy, he automatically resigned his commissioned in the military. He was not convicted with mutiny in any court proceeding wether in civilian judicial court or in military court martial so it’s is baseless for the military to pursue a court martial proceedings against him. Also, the charged against him was amended to a conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman because Esperon’s cohorts of cabal doesn’t have any solid evidence to pin him down on the charge that attributed to him.

The only punishment in conduct unbecoming an officer and gentleman is a dishonorable discharged and demotion in ranks, forfeiture of all pays and allowances and a few years of confinement in hard labor.

The balance in fulcrum between civilian and military court martial has different aspects, between military law and civilian law, the military code cannot be equated to a civilian criminal code. It regulates aspect of the conduct of members of the military which in the civilian code carves out a relatively small segment of potential conduct and declares it criminal. In civilian life there is no legal sanction civil or criminal for failure to behave as an officer and a gentleman, the code likewise imposes other sanction for conduct that in civilian life is not subject to criminal penalties, in disrespect toward superior commissioned officers, cruelty towards or oppression. Therefore if the wheel of justice in the Philippines is not malfunctioning, there is no reason why the court won’t allow Trillanes to post bail for his temporary liberty and attend a senate hearing on which he sworn to defend the constitutions, so help him GOD!

  9. BLACK KNIGHT BLACK KNIGHT

    Ellen,

  10. Re: “To everybody’s relief, Cayetano won, despite Joselito Cayetano. To everybody’s surprise, Trillanes also won.”

Heh! Ellen, those two young senators elect kicked the harlot couple in Malacanang hard in the crotch, so hard, they still are reeling from the kick.

  14. cocoy cocoy

    Black Knight;
I don’t want to be harsh on you, but I think you are going out of context in digging the financial capabilities of Trillanes mother. If his Mom is a suppliers in the AFP, there is nothing wrong about that, everyone are entitled to make a simple living, if it’s a crime, might as well prosecute all the civilian concessioners inside the military camps, and also those people who are pushing carts in front of the gate in military camps selling mango, buko and banana Q.

Also a P2million loans is not a big amount, financial institution will not approve a loan without collateral. There’s a lot of people who can able to deposit that amount in the bank, That amount could not be considered a big bucks, it is not enough for your son’s tuition fees in college if he’s taking medicine even you enroll him in University of Pangasinan. Why, Don’t you have P2 million worth of properties?

Hon Trillanes, I believe your response
to the accusations and slander of gloria and her
dogs. Detailed but Succinct, that should be
read in the Senate for the record for the future
generations of Filipinos. Indeed, an explanation
worthy of a senator of the realm, better than any
piece written by the senate trapos like Angara, Joke
    Arroyo, Meryam Defensor-Santiago, Villar, Recto,
Escudero, Pangilinan, Drilon, Enrile, Lapid, Gordon.

  25. Xanadu: Don’t speak for us. Our admiration for the good senator goes way deeper than looks and charisma.

    *****

Said with precision! This guy cannot speak for us for he definitely speaks for the criminal squatting at the palace by the murky river. He definitely does not know the long-suffering gentlemen who has avowed to serve his country and people. His oath-taking in fact significantly shows his defiance against tradition. He is definitely no trapo, one who wants to sit in the government with all those tempting promises only to show true colors when in position because he has to get back what he has invested in his campaign.

In the case of Trillanes, there is actually not much to reimburse. His supporters who contributed to his campaign do not expect him to pay them back in cash. They expect to be reimbursement with his devotion, commitment, and love of country and people by doing the very thing they have voted him for—REMOVAL of the creep, who does the same tricks again even by trying now to break the Genuine Opposition using media people even to sow discords, envy and apathy among the candidates who vowed to be united for the Opposition!!!

Fortunately, Senator Trillanes is of a different breed and kind. That is what makes him different and lovable to those who have come to admire his guts and even “arrogance” (daw)!!!

  26. This should read: “They expect to be reimbursed with his devotion, commitment, and love of country and people by doing the very thing they have voted him for…” Sorry!

  27. I still would like to give Cayetano the benefit of the doubt, for I would not like him to suffer the punishment of heaven for using God in his campaign. I was in fact lured to support him by his supposed “religiosity” and faith in God even when he and I belong to different churches, and I thought he would be one who would stomp his feet on people who would reject propriety. I would not imagine him surrendering his sense of right and wrong for the devil advocates who bombarded him with “P—–ina mo!,” family and all, at a Congress session or two.

Cayetano should come out, face the electorates, especially those who voted for him believing that he has evidences to show against the creepy family squatting at the palace by the murky river, and tell if the “tsismis” being passed around by the creeps’ highly paid propagandists are true or not.

As for Escudero, I was hoping he would be as great a man as his lolo although I started having my doubts when I saw his picture with the creep a month or two before election. That was indeed “walang delikadesa,” too!!!

I hope, Ellen, you can get a statement straight from Cayetano. He should not disappoint the voters who supported him because he was OPPOSITIONIST! He should not forget that!

    Kawawang Pilipinas! Nakakadugo ng puso!

  28. skip skip

    yuko,

I agree with you. I do not believe Allan has it in him to go consorting with the devil. I believe the man has a firm grip on the moral issues surrounding this administration and knows exactly where his convictions lie.

His reticence of late is a bit off-putting, I admit. But let us not be too hasty in mistaking this for sleeping with the enemy.

But he had better make his move soon.

  29. martina martina

In the meantime, i am reserving any praise for these politicos, until they have proven something, although am hopeful that Trillanes can deliver.

  30. You bet, Skip. Let us give Cayetano the benefit of the doubt. The guy definitely must be just taking his time, and his silence now should not be taken as surrender to the devil advocates he vowed to expose, and reason why he was elected to the Senate. Besides, kahit ako devoted Christian, I will not, never align myself myself with people who have insulted, berrated, and shouted profanity at me in front of TV cameras, etc. and now act as meek as a lamb conniving with these crooks.

I still would like to think that Alan Cayetano is not one without honor and dignity!

I’ll wait for Alan and Chiz words about their real stand before commenting. Kapag palpak at hindi ko nagustuhan, sisimulan ko na ang kampanya against them!

  38. Apparently, Koko won the race. Kaya ngayon naghahanda siya ng panglaban kay Dayana, who still insists that he won. Dapat diyan patawan na ng kaso of conniving in this election fraud. But how do you disqualify someone who has been promised a victory by one who has done this kind of cheating before?

Koko, pagbutihin mo.

  39. Yuko, I’m writing right now my column for Abante for tomorrow. It’s about the power struggle in the Senate. I’m very disappointed with Alan. I never had expectations from Chiz Escudero and much more Villar. But Alan, I put my trust in him.

He called me up and explained that he has his core values of truth, justice and service to the country intact. He explained to me why he is voting Villar, who is also being supported by Malacañang and Gloria’s stooges. He said he will continue to be opposition even if he supports Villar.

It’s difficult for me to accept.

But his is the way I look it. Okay they were with us in our fight against those who promote evil in this country- Gloria Arroyo. Gloria got slapped and kicked. At least kasama natin sila doon.

Now they are willing to support her. Let them be.

Tayo, we go on with our fight. There are less of us this time, maybe, but wiser and more determined.

Sige Senator Sonny…mukhang ikaw lang yata ang matitirang lalaban sa kapalpakan ni Blinky Tianak among the young elected senators. If that happens, you’ll prove true what my Dad was saying all along that walang kwentang iboto sila dahil bihasa sila sa political compromises!

  41. Jay, Please huwag magmura.

I have said it several times here. I don’t allow pagmumura here.

You can be strong in your statements but never, never magmura here. It’s a sign of maturity that you are able to express your strongest emotions without resorting to curses.

    Ellen,

I told Purple right after I came back from voting in DC that I felt guilty because I only wrote Trillanes in my ballot. NO OTHER NAMES. Like other members of my family, isa lang ang aming ibinoto…si Sonny lang! Some relatives voted for Koko! But that’s all.

I didn’t see anything special about Alan and Chiz… Sorry guys, mapili kasi ako. I don’t have regrets leaving their names in the pansitan!

  43. Thanks, Ellen. I am disappointed to hear of his stand on Villar. I thought he should have more balls!

Anyway, I hope Alan is not playing chicken. Bakit hindi niya gayahin si Trillanes? If he has the evidences on Arroyo, he should show reveal them now! Por dies, por singko! And if indeed he feels that God is with him, why then does he hesitate to dl what is right as God must have inspired him to do! He should always remember that evil cannot triumph over good. Bakit nahihinaan siya ng loob?

I actually did not like Villar. Remember my arguments on this guy? These are the same kind of people who will sell their country to the enemies in times of war.

Geeezzz, I just dont what to say, I admire both alan cayetano and chiz escudero, if the news is true, then there is this big question mark in their faces. As they say, they will vote for villar (the ever opportunists)for senate presidency, but they will be a fiscalizer or for whatever reason/s they have, i dont know anymore.

Here’s the thing, if they want to villar, that’s fine as long as they will not abandon their motto as a fiscalizer in the senate, but to be counted in as a member of the pro-gloria senators is another thing. A lot of things remain to be seen in the next few weeks when both chamber convenes the 14th congress.

A lot of people put their trusts and confidence in these two young turks when they were still member of the lower house. A lot of people voted for them because they see in them the next generation politician. i hope they dont fall in the pit of TRAPOS. As they say “dapat tayong magmanman.”.

    A bit off-topic:

Does anyone of you guys notices that that DOJ sec siRAUlo gonzales move his office from the 2nd flr to the ground flr??? according to sources it is because his difficulty in using the stairs in going up and down the stairs???? hmmmmm, I hope this siRAUlo have delicadeza to resign, if his sick and has difficulty in climbng a stairs, he should resign. He’s sick and he should resign.

  46. Just curious. Why won’t these senators want to support Nene Pimentel VS Villar?

On the other hand, this turn of events makes Trillanes shine brighter to a lot many of us who know a gold when we see one.

Thank God really for Trillanes! And thanks, Ellen, for helping guide us to the right path although I must tell you, I rely more on that still small voice who tells me who to choose right. No need to be kind-hearted to the devil advocate at the palace by the murky river the way Alan is willing to compromise now with the devil!!!

Is it because Alan is American and since the Americans are willing to prostitute democratic principles to maintain their world supremacy by conniving with the likes of Madame Pidal, he is now willing to connive with them? Just curious, really!

And as I promised you, let me post this again and again:

These officers are simply “whiners”. In simple terms, they are not sick! What they have are sick “brains”!!! What they need is simple exercises everyday and they have to watch their diet. They need to sweat and stretch their muscles. Better yet, read the Holy Bible for enlightenment. Send them psychiatrists/guidance counselors and spiritual persons/priests!!! But the ultimate best you can give to these whining officers is SEX…hahaha! (Not necessarily with their wives).

  50. chi chi

    Rose,

Thanks. Sabi ni Ellen ay nabawasan tayo sa pakikipagbuno kay Gloria but wiser and more determined. I like that, eliminating the kulang ang yagbols!

But karma/destiny is not transferrable, so let’s allow them to wallow in envy!

It’s treachery to the people that he is doing. Kaya siya binoto dahil akala ng mga tao tunay niya, not really taking revenge on the Pidals for shouting expletives at him, but because it is his divine right to do so—fight for truth and right. Pero kung naduduwag na siya ngayon, may he rot in hell likewise.

God willing, matatapos din sila, and hopefully, with many more inspired by the examples of Trillanes, mauubos na sila!!!

Sayang si Cayetano! Funny that I don’t really feel hinayang, but more good riddance if he does not change his mind between now and the election for the Senate President. I did not waste anything on him as a matter of fact except some postings in this blog in his defense because I thought he was one with the people.

Kung talagang maka-Diyos siya, hindi siya sasama sa mga kurakot as a matter of fact.

You are absolutely right, Alan will totally fail the pinoys who voted for him thinking that he’s got the balls to fight!

  55. Chi,

As a Japanese national, I am not allowed to have dual citizenship, so I cannot vote, but if I were a Philippine voter, I would definitely just vote for Trillanes, and Koko because Nene Pimentel is a good friend of mine, and I am friend with the Senator because I know he is honest and for real.

Trillanes is the best thing that has happened to the Filipinos in decades, even a century. Daig pa niya in fact si Rizal, who was in fact willing to compromise with his tormentors. We see in Trillanes courage beyond compare and hope for a better Philippines. Ito ang tunay who will not compromise his principles for anything. So far, I like what hear and read.

He should be encouraged to go on being what he is. Kaya galit ako doon sa mga Internet Brigader saying otherwise, and trying hard for us to see him as no different from his other fellow GO candidates who now claim they have seen the light even when we know they have seen only darkness that now frightens them!!!

Attaboy, Sonny! Hindi ka nag-iisa. Marami pa rin kami!

  56. Let BK and Biboy be. That’s the beauty of democracy. We can learn from other people’s views even if they are different from ours.

  57. Democracy, Ellen, is good only for people who can understand it.

I doubt if a lot many Filipinos really do when they cannot even have an election where no one dies or get killed, or vote without feeling intimidated and threatened. Worse is when some idiots would even try to try tro mudsmear a good candidate like what these people have done and are doing still versus Senator Trillanes instead of concentrating on platforms the way we do over in this Land of the Rising Sun. I still have to see a candidate here in fact resorting to black propaganda in order to win. This is why we can vote better over here.

Over there in the Philippines, cheating has even become a prerogative of the agency designated to keep elections clean, and thus, being rendered useless. That definitely is not what democracy is all about.

  58. cocoy cocoy

Cheers to Ellen for reminding us that democracy still exist in this blog.

My stand about Trillanes is based on what I’m seeing in the news. For me, he seems so naive in the politics as what the others are starting to notice too. But of course my guess is only as good as yours so lets just wait and see how he will eventually turn out when the ball actually starts rolling.

  61. biboy biboy

As for the word “charisma” I used, in the world of politics and ideologies, nobody can’t deny that this is a great factor.

  62. Cocoy:

Contrary to US propaganda during and after WWII, Emperor Hirohito (Showa) was not directly involved in politics even when during national crisis, he would be asked to make those errie broadcasts (he had a way of speaking reserved to members of the Imperial family then) as when he made that announcement about Japan’s defeat in the war and rebuilding Japan by bearing the unbearable, which to all was “shame” or losing face to stop in fact the many Japanese gathered in front of the Imperial Palace ready to commit mass harakiri.

The emperor of Japan, as you may know, was considered a god, believed to have descended from the Sun Goddess, Amaterasu Omikami. My mother-in-law used to tell me stories of how when she was in grade school, they were told to bow down to a small shrine with the picture of the emperor inside, something like an anting-anting. Up until the last world war in fact, no one was allowed to see the face of the emperor in person. That was why they had to vow down low and never even peep when the emperor passed by.

The idiot in fact cannot compare herself with the royalties of the world. Wala siyang sinabi.

  63. Sinabi mo pa, Cocoy, there is no democracy in the Philippines. Dapat pantay-pantay, not the kind of you can get a good job in the Philippines only when you know someone or have connection with the powerful kurakots in the land.

I hated that as a matter of fact. Never experienced such deprivation in Japan even though I must admit, I am over-qualified enough as I have been told with my credentials from UP and Oxford U. Sa Pilipinas, even when you have credentials, kung wala kang kakilala, you can’t find a good job where you can use what you have been trained for. Kaya ano ang nangyayari. Umaalis ang mga pilipino na pinagsasamantalahan naman ni unano, who cannot make money by clean and legitimate means and even make yabang of the loans and aids she gets from overseas, and even have the nerve to make all those false claims about economic progress in the Philippines when in fact there has been an Asian economic crisis going on.

Fake democracy is what they have in the Philippines.

  64. Mrivera Mrivera

Itong nangyayari ngayon is for me, an attempt to undermine the efforts of the 11M million who gave Trillanes his victory. Hello Biboy,

In May 10, 2004 presidential election, Gloria Arroyo got 109,000 votes from 11 municipalities in Maguindanao province where no election was held. Affidavits from voters and election watchers to prove that no election was held in these towns. The repeat of 2004 massive electoral fraud had been executed by Lintang Bedol, et al last May 14 elections. Daya-na Zubiri got 98+% out of 210,000 registered voters.

    *****

Ako din, Chi, wondered about the softening, when he knew for a fact that it was only for a show for a man who is evil to the bones cannot change overnight. I was hoping against hope, he was God inspired enough to know what his duties and responsibilities to his country and people are, and what he promised his people he would do “with the help of God.”

Palpak din pala. Ang lakas talaga ng demonyo in the form of Villar!

  71. According to Tribune, here’s the take on this treachery by Escudero and Cayetano (of all people!): ““When he (Villar) was warned that it (his meeting with the President) could adversely affect his political career, he said (his career will be taken care of through ‘media handling’) as if all media are paid hacks who can be cajoled into twisting the real situation,”the opposition senator said.”

Someone here has asked just how much money are being distributed now to the media? Magkano nga ba?

I am not surprised. Alam ko naman ang baho ng Philippine media, a big reason in fact why I quit being connected with a news agency there. Di hamak naman malaki ang kita ko coordinating with a broadsheet company here who contracts me from time to time. Pero nakakaiyak talaga ang situation ng mga journalists sa Pilipinas maliban na lang kung may iba silang means of livelihood and make writing more as a devotion, not hobby definitely. Labas noong mga bayaran, pataygutom! Yuck!

  72. Point is for how long will Filipinos allow this babuyan that the unano does to destroy them. Golly, pati simbahan binababoy. Buti na lang iyong simbahan namin, hindi tumatanggap ng abuloy from other people not belonging to our religion! She should be condemned!

I haven’t experienced deprivation as a matter of fact, but I guess I am my father’s daughter, the one with the Samurai blood, and I am confident, I cannot be bribed and corrupted. Besides, I know God will protect and help me. He has as a matter of fact against all adversities and adversaries. PATALSIKIN NA, NOW NA!

  74. I like what Ka Mentong wrote in his column in Tribune:

Our faith in Trillanes is a case in point, and we see far more achievements from this straight-shooting senator and his Magdalo group. It isn’t that we foresaw his victory, nobody could have predicted that (although several people came up to us and predicted it based on feng shui readings coming all the way from Taiwan); it is the recognition of a truly deserving individual and group who have all the right qualities of integrity, intellectual perspicacity and commitment to the welfare of the nation that demand our wholehearted support and sacrifice.

Trillanes became the fruit of the people’s hard-earned wisdom. A young, honest man, with a track record of service and ultimate sacrifice, elected to office without money, without mobility and with only the people’s support. That’s the ideal national leader, and fortunately, he is not of age for the 2010 so his actions today cannot be colored with political ambition. Unfortunately, there is no one like him for 2010. If there’s a lesson from our past, it is with the current “presidentiables” on the scene, the 2010 elections will be meaningless again. Aside from lessons, we need surprises.

    *****
Read the whole column on Villar. http://www.tribune.net.ph/commentary/20070704com5.html
I share his thoughts on this. Nakakaiyak! Yuck talaga!

Heaven forbid! Wala na bang katapusan?!

  76. naguilenya naguilenya

I’ve read a lot of times the columns of Ramon Tulfo in Inquirer. Most of the accusations hurled against Sen. Trillanes that you posted here are the very same things that Mr. Tulfo are citing in his columns. He refers to Sen. Trillanes as a “boy with a new toy”. What I could not understand from Mr. Tulfo is his obvious personal grudge with former military men. Remember his allegations against Sen Pnafilo Lacson, a former PNP Chief? Is this the work ethic of an “investigator” (as he is known for his defunct shows? Parang tandang na mahilig pumutak. Between him and Sen. Trillanes, the latter is more credible.

  77. Come to think of it. I was in fact against the name Genuine Opposition because I did not see the necessity for changing the name of the opposition from United Opposition. For me, it was more than enough, but someone in the invitees suggested it and Binay decided to adopt it for the people that he had invited to join the opposition versus the team unano.

On the other hand, it is OK that this early we are able to know who’s tricking who. Wala naman silang naloko sa totoo lang. Inggit nga sila for the attention we are giving Senator Trillanes.

see guys, thats what happens when we bank on people to help us get rid of the little witch. havent i blogged a few weeks ago saying these oppositionists are in the opposition cos its the best way to get elected and the perfect way to increase popularity? isnt it true that all these people pretending to fight for the values of justice and honor in government are undermining us, their believers or supporters, with insidious eloquence so that we may fall for their speeches and motherhood statements hook, line and sinker? yan na kasi. trillanes is the best we’ve got sa opposition, he is after something not any of these kunwaring ‘statesmen’ are after. people like escudero want a stable political career so they may end up president in 10 years, people like cayetano want the same. these are the people we could rely on if we want real change: trillanes, ping lacson, jamby madrigal, maybe jinggoy estrada, maybe mar roxas, and a few others i may not remember right now. thse people are willing to go all out. escudero is very pa-konyo, he’s just good lang talaga at making a masa impression for his own ends using masa jargon in his arguments even if such don’t have much weight. motherhood statements, cliches’ thats the chiz style. sayang, he’s gonna end up a devenecia, or some traditional politico out there speaking of state building, progress, tradition, the constitution, etc etc etc but in reality, serving the interests of his masters. trillanes is the next ninoy, i believe he will be. his commitment for change is not as mababaw as escudero’s. trillanes will go all out, work beyond our institutions as long as the people will ultimately benefit from such. i believe in trillanes cos he speaks of his personal convictions as soemthing based on nothing less than his Christian obligation, which does not promise him statesmanship or prestige but will simply grant him the grace of salvation.

go sonny trillanes, may you continue the hard fight. ping lacson, jamby madrigal, jinggoy estrada, mar roxas and the rest of the patriotic senators will back u up, though maybe not all the way. pero ikaw, senator trillanes, you will be the ‘Lux in domino’, the light when everything else is dark. as you’ve said mr trillanes, this is not just your social obligation. speaking against wrong is your Christian moral obligation. sana magampanan mo tungkulin mo. keep the flame alive.

i think it is ok to have rules even in blogs where almost anything is allowed.Anyway speaking of trillanes and cayetano, there is also a big difference in their background and present status which can influence their way of thinking and actions. trillanes did not come from a family of politicians, is in jail and therefore he is probably not subjected to outside influence and more left to his own thinking which of course can be positive or negative.cayetano on the other hand has politics in his blood and also was a representative and therefore has a lot of factors that has influenced him or can have influence, for good or bad, it depend on him. politics is more of a groupwork, that is why some wise guy said long ago that it is the art of the possibles. standing alone against all odds like what trillanes did in the election is of course heroic but to have things done would need cooperation from the others.what is common between the two is that both are young and therefore can learn things in positive and negative ways, so i just wait and see.

  82. Etnad Etnad

  83. Sampot Sampot

I believe that those who are voting for Villar are not only offered Committee Chairmanships but Cabinet Positions. This is the factor that separates the two contenders apart.

With the way things are going on in the Senate, all changes we are hoping for may never come. I think the GO ticket was decided based primarily on winability and not on integrity.

And if the Estradas are expecting a guilty verdict, then it’s no surprise if they will support Villar’s Senate Presidency. Afterall, Villar may win in 2010 and they are hoping that Erap sentence will be commuted by then.

The interests of the people can always wait.

Come to think of it, kahit anong kaplastikan ang gawin nina Villar, the fact remains that they were elected by the people not because majority of Filipinos did not like the unano, and they wanted her out by the time they start the sessions at the Senate. Now, we’ll see how the Filipinos will show their anger at this treachery with or without the implementation of the Terrorist Law that they have passed and signed by the idiotic tyrant for her own survival as a matter of fact. 93.

Bakit? Dahil lang ba sa inggit kay Trillanes? Pwe naman!

  94. They’re delaying the announcement of the 12th winner till August with hopes perhaps that they will be able to consolidate the balimbings to change their allegiance to replace the losers in the team unano, and they live happily every after with the queen. Or so they think! Hindi na ba sila nadala that what the unano says today is different from what she says tomorrow or yesterday.

No wonder Koko seems ready to give up. Poor topnotcher! Kawawang bansa! But me, tuloy pa rin. Gotta double my fasting and prayers. Remember the story of Daniel who was put in the lion’s den? With what is happening now, Trillanes is going to be in a lion’s den, but with God on his side, I bet you the lions will either be tamed down or killed by some unseen hands.

I know Sonny Trillanes has that enough faith in God’s miracles. Nakita niya na ang mirakulo. Walang dudang may mangyayari pang mirakulo!!!

  95. rose rose

Villar, Cayetano and Escudero made their decisions to go along with Gloria for whatever reasons they may have. Para sa akin tapos na yon. Yesterday. They are “Gone With the Wind” Pero they still have to face tomorrow- 2010. They are quite young. Ang sabi ni Scarlett O’Hara “tomorrow is another day”. In celebrating Independence Day, our Pastor in his homily said this morning..”with freedom comes responsibility”. There is no doubt we want freedom. Our responsibility then is to fight for it and to guard that nobody could trample it. Sen. Trillanes is fighting for the freedom to serve his country as Senator. Let us fight and help him. Let us help him clear the path to freedom- so that we too will enjoy that freedom. That I think is our responsibility.

  97. xanadu xanadu

Basta nandyan si Sen. Trillanes, tuloy ang laban. Up to this moment, si Gloria ang puntiriya.

I am giving these GO senators until the senate presidency squabble is over. If finally they will turn up siding with the administration, kowtowing with Gloria Arroyo, turning back to their campaign promises, woe unto them. I will always remember the statement of Sen.

I salute the honorable Senator Trillanes. A true pinoy, brave and God fearing soldier. Fight for us mr.Trillanes, Fight for the truth, Be steadfast, the filipino people is behind you,be a light to our nation, dont lose hope, the youth of today needs to imitate your principles. You are selfless, may your tribe increase.

  99. parasabayan parasabayan

It is too early to tell if Alan and Chiz have officially joined the “trapos”. Picking the Senate President is one thing, performing as an opposition is another. The fact remains though that if the opposition do not get the Blue Ribbon Commitee, tiyanak will be singing and dancing again because she will continue abusing the Filipino people. We just gave the tiyanak a more powerful gun to execute us with. We never learn…really! Let us just hope that maybe the opposition’s way of infiltating the enemy’s camp is by joining them then do the killing after! A strategy that worked in the 2007 May elections. Whatever their strategies are, the people are watching. If they make a wrong move, the people are not going to be forgiving. If Villar has presidential aspirations, he better take care of the people otherwise, he may have the billions to pay another Garci and Bedol, he can only win in the forever cheating haven of the politicos, Maguindanao. Everywhere else in the country, the people will be watching over their precious votes and maybe next time, another Garci and Bedol will not be as easy to find. A third blunder is most unlikely! The people are watching and taking notes!Make no mistakes, Villar.

    I agree with Parasabayan.

At the moment, it’s all what we read and learned from media that’s why I am taking it easy and wait after the Senate is set in motion. And that is after the Senate president is in place and the different committees fiiled up and its composition known. We will know their true colors from thereon.

In a previous posting I said, in the revolution, it is crucial to Make sure the generation spawned by these political, religious and military criminals (they are already with us) must be stopped from continuing the crimes of their fathers. You know all of them even if you come from the provinces and the hinterlands. Some are already in the Senate, they are numerous in the House of Representatives. Those practicing the bar are multitudes in defending in the courts their corrupt clients. The young ones females even in the business sector have already taken over the partnerships of their parents with the government. No corporate business can be clean under a dirty government. They are partners every minute of the day: the government and the business sector. They thrive and flourished together in sucking the blood of the nation. they are insatiable gluttons for unbridled greed for money (preferably cash in US dollars) in creating more dirt and more crimes. For more than twenty-five years these sons of their fathers are already with us.

In 1970 sabi ni Ditas Concepcion, the population problem is not about birth control and family planning. The problem is already with us.

My friend did not know how difficult it is to be objective, to cut the anger, the impatience, to be fair at the same time avoiding being a sucker, a moron, an imbecile, an infantile whiner and whinger, an infidel of a Christian. Actually it is not about being judgmental. To the angry and righteous, it seems more than a surgeon’s dilemma, it is not whether to scalpel out even healthy cells or to amputate. It should be a hangman’s really …..to avoid the Bagdad experience which neglected the weight and the length of rope factors resulting in the decapitation of the hanged. It seems common sense, the heavier the man and the longer the rope the likelihood of decapitation. To be avoided if the official policy is death by PBA slowmo which is also quick because of commercials.

ellen: ang sabi ni Cayetano- “his core of values in truth, justice and service to his country are in tact?” Lumalabas na ang pagkatao mo – “what a sweet smile. oh you are so sweet sir.”
Neonate- I found many of the bloggers here true and they mean what they say and feel… We have one thing in common “we love the Phil…it is the land of our birth.” And for me I love Antique in particular- it is the home of the peaceful and free…. And Ellen is “Bugal kang Antique.

  107. Jay, I have long ago spelled out the rule of “walang bastusan” and “walang murahan” in this blog.

It’s possible you missed that. Now, I’ve said it again.
It’s not only good manners. It’s respect.

  108. So long as we are left with Sonny Trillanes, Truth & Justice in the senate then these three are good enough for me to know that there’s check and balance in the senate.

  109. Maybe the likes of Sonny Trillanes’ no nonsense attitude is too much competition for Alan and Chiz and could leave them wanting.

  110. PSB:

Point is that it is dangerous to sleep with the enemies, and that is what Escudero and Cayetano have done.

Kahit sa demonyo makikipag-deal ang ungas to get the position he wants. Buti na lang may Trillanes to remind Filipinos that they can always say “No!” and make their choice.

Sabi nga, “No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” These are words of wisdom in Luke 16:13, Matt 6:24.

  111. On the other hand, let us not forget the mastermind of all these evils—the unano who squats still at the palace by the murky river.

Kailangang mag-rally ang mga pilipino against this kind of abuse. Golly, ang galing ng gimmick! Now they are trying hard to make Trillanes look like a leftist Communist even when the poor fellow has had no communist indoctrination but ironically has been trained and upholds democratic principles that he wants followed and obeyed.

Ako nga puede pang sabihin leftist even when I am actually a rightist (no difference in fact), but no one can tell that to my face or I sue them for defamation and namecalling that are liable to legal and criminal procedures.

Buti na lang nalagay na si Trillanes sa mga newspapers abroad so that any action taken against him will just serve as proof enough that something is really wrong with Philippine leadership.

  112. In a way, I consider this early revelation about Escudero and Cayetano as a blessing in disguise. Through their own wrongdoing, they have been exposed, and we know for sure that God in His Infinite Wisdom has made it possible for this “sifting of the tares from the wheats”!

It is in fact, good riddance. And Trillanes? He should count his blessings that God is saving him from being tainted by these wannabe crooks! Kasi tuwid siya! His incarceration is helping him, I guess, to be more responsive to that Still Small Voice that tells him what to say and do!

Number in fact is irrelevant even when in a democracy number counts. The most important thing is he is being true to his commitments for his country and people as when he decided to run for the Senate with only his faith in God, his fellow countrymen and himself. Iyan ang tunay! May paninindigan!

  113. dzandueta dzandueta

Point is that it is dangerous to sleep with the enemies, and that is what Escudero and Cayetano have done.

So they should be completely damned for doing so no matter what? What’s wrong with agreeing to work with someone on certain issues both happen to agree on?

A link from Philstar isn’t showing the article I want to post here, so I’ll quote a portion instead:

The senator, who promised to work with the administration in passing vital measures like the budget, vowed to remain with the opposition.

I’m sure Mr. Escudero and Mr. Cayetano are aware of the risks and rewards for doing so. But like all of us, they have priorities and choices to make.

As Mr. Escudero one said, history will judge us. Of course, that depends after how long.

    *****

Sure they have their choices and priorities to make and they are free to do that when it concerns only their own selves, but not when they are making choices and preferring their own priorities to the choices and priorities of the people they took oath to serve, they do not have that freedom. When they run for public office, they should have taken that BIG point into consideration. They are not the boss, they are mere public servants!!!

  117. Salamat, Magno, sa patawa mong malaman. Naalis ang init ng ulo ko and I can argue better. Kawawang Pilipinas! Natabunan na ng animal!

  118. Ellen,

You can’t imagine how disgusted I was to discover that Escudero and Cayetano have closed ranks with the Senate stooges of Malacanang.

I remember a previous thread where you categorically gave Escudero the biggest benefit of the doubt despite his being lovey dovey with Gloria (at a wedding in Davao, and I remember that Yuko even started to ask question whether it was worth fighting for Escudero) and so I voted for him hoping beyond hope that he would stick it out with the rest of the anti-Gloria senators come hell or high water; same thing with Cayetano because I felt his battle with Jose Pidal was admirable! I never counted much on Villar because to me, he would always be a traydor but just the same I voted for him because he was with GO!

I don’t want to be definitive about this yet but I am inclined to believe today that there’s no hope for Pinas! These people who are supposed to have the education, the wealth, the breeding, the status, the reach, etc are the first ones to spit on principles and to betray the trust of the Filipinos for their own political and PERSONAL survival; they are CORRUPT as in morally corrupt and bankrupt. How can these people who have all the advantages in life sell their principles?

At some point in time, a nation has no other recourse but to cleanse its ranks of these scalawags – cleansing through the good, old fashion way.

    Absolutely disgusting in the extreme.

I do not understand why the government wasted their times to look this personal information of mr. trillanes.

These are small about of cash na puweding mabili ng halos lahat ng ofw, so ano eto? at ano ang gusto nilang palabasin dito?

  120. Yup, Anna, that picture really bothered me, for ninang or no ninang, I would have more scruples not to be seen in the company of this criminal called “Gloria M. Arroyo aka Mrs. Pidal”! One big beneficiary of all these twists and turns: Danding Cojuangco!

A major force in the Lower House, now gets his party some juicy committees in the Senate. And his nephew bags the top DND post as a bonus. How lucky can one get?!

Is the San Miguel ownership gonna be resolved in his favor soon? I think so.

  122. dzandueta dzandueta

but not when they are making choices and preferring their own priorities to the choices and priorities of the people they took oath to serve, they do not have that freedom.

That depends on what those priorities and choices are. Why not ask them? (although a lot of people already are, anyway…)

IIRC Chiz’ website has a forum.

That’s one thing he’s probably counting on. However, the chances of that happening aren’t good as long as San Miguel continues to bring out good numbers under his…err…leadership.

  123. parasabayan parasabayan

Interesting observation dzandueta. Actually there is one thing common with Ramos,Cojuangco and Enrile, they were all products of the Marcos regime. Danding Cojuangco was one of the bagmen for Marcos together with Lucio Tan! Now they are the powerful people and they are the puppet operators! The tiyanak is somehow connected to their strings! Do we get the picture?

  124. Mrivera Mrivera

    parasabayan,

wow, meron na tayong league of national chameleons!

    yehey!

  125. I don’t think Danding Cojuangco is really being faithful to anyone but himself.

People in the Marcos Loyalist Movement in fact thought they could squeeze a lot of money from him and that he was faithful to Marcos just because he decided to go on exile likewise to the US when Marcos was there to save himself from being arrested I guess since Cory was going to do that for sure. They failed to get anything from him as a matter of fact.

The Americans did not touch him for some reason. His mother was an American, I was told, but that was not really the reason, I guess.

Ellen was right when she said that Danding was simply protecting his business, especially his San Miguel shares. Baka manakaw pa lahat ng mga Pidal.

As for Ramos, wala nang pag-asa ang mamang iyan. I actually hate the blood ties I am told we have with him. Yuck talaga!

Kabagyan din namin si Enrile, but I won’t cover up for these people just because they are kin.

  126. Ramos is gone, goner and for good! Forget Ramos in the scheme of power play today!
