Malacañang seeks way out of Trillanes problem

Malacañang knows there’s no way they can prevent Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV from assuming his seat in the Senate. They want to save face by asking Trillanes to apologize to the bogus president. I can’t wait to hear Trillanes’ answer.

Trillanes may get off with slap on the wrist

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV might end up with just a slap on the wrist for leading hundreds of soldiers in the 2003 Oakwood mutiny — if he agrees to plead guilty to the charges and apologize to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Presidential Legal Counsel Sergio Apostol said the government has not closed its doors to giving clemency to Trillanes.

“The government cannot close the option of a plea bargain, if he apologized, then we must follow the procedure,” said Apostol.

“He could be given lesser penalty even if his crime is more serious than the soldiers,” he added, referring to the plea bargain approved by President Arroyo to Trillanes’ soldiers. “He is also entitled to a plea bargain if he wants.”

  1. Frankly, Ellen, if this happens in Japan, you can bet your bottom dollar, people here will stop whatever they are doing and go to the streets to protest. This is in fact why we can get things done in Japan, and why Japan is what it is. Our government officials cannot be above anyone here. At least, they know how to be grateful to the people who vote for them. Over in the Philippines, except for one or two I know personally, I see the majority to be unworthy of my vote if I were a voter there.

  2. Hopefully, Senator Trillanes has better moral fibers than these crooks not oppressing not just him and his fellow Magdalos but ALL Filipinos.

I hope he is not presently being subjected to some police/military brutally to force him to accept what the criminal is offering him that I don’t believe will be one similar to the cajoling offered the now seemingly senile Hudasan. I pray that God will give Sonny the strength and divine will to endure to the end.

The way I read the offer he is being forced to accept even when it will not mean being allowed to serve in the Senate the way the Filipinos want him to serve them—remove the criminal from the palace by the murky river—but just to have him out of military court to be given in full custody of the criminal court that can keep him there for as long as the criminal calls herself president of the Philippines ala-Erap.

Ang galing talaga, galing sa kawalanghiyaan. I’m actually tempted to think like Anna, that the Philippines and Filipinos are a hopeless case!!! Acute cancer ba?

My pulse rate has been going awry, pounding at an average of 155 beats per minute (100 bpm being critical); so I must sleep for the next 24 hours and see my doctors. I’m therefore cutting short this column. Meanwhile, I’m trying to organize a seven-man steering committee to launch a total civil disobedience movement, which has the potential for averting a gory revolt. To comprise that group, I’d like to suggest Bishop Oscar Cruz or Fr. Jerry Orbos, VP Tito Guingona, lawyer Louie Sison or lawyer Lorna Kapunan for legal affairs, Prof. Nemenzo, the ubiquitous Linggoy Alcuaz, Marietta Goco and a representative of a GO senator. I have requested Bettina Legarda to handle the project. The Lord be with us! Ciao!

Yuko,my older brother left the Philippines over 40 years ago when our country was still one of the best countries in Asia. By the way, he was the one who went to school in Japan for one of his engineering degrees. Wala pang mga squatters noon and our literacy level was very high. My brother says that the Philippines now is simply hopeless! It is not just cancer but it is in its final stages of pre-death. No more chemo or drastic surgery can save the country! I am still an optimist and so are my other sibblings who happen to still live in the Philippines. But there are times when I agree with my older brother’s views. Look at what the tiyanak and her cohorts are doing to Erap and Trillianes and how the voted tongressmen and senators have turned into “trapos” and how a pint sized woman can just violate all the constitutional laws to simply stay in her stolen power without any regard for anything else. Seeing Bedol act like a hoodlum and who is untouchable with no less than the Comelec Chairman nodding his head on the gross cheating operation in the traditionally corrupt Maguindanao. Nobody cares to correct the election fraud in Maguindanao because it was a successful cheating haven for the tiyanak in the 2004 and now in the 2007. Almost all the lower courts are bought! I wonder why the Ong’s position is being dangled, it will obviosly be a position for one of the Sandigan Bayan’s judges who will seal Erap’s conviction or maybe given to Abalaos for delivering Zubiri to the 12th senatorial position. Everything is done in a corrupted way. These is no sense of decency whatsoever! What is even more appalling is the Filipinos’ silence. It is like saying, sige gahasain mo lang ako para matapos na o kaya, sige, patayin mo na lang ako para mawala na lahat ng mga problema ko! It is this passive reaction to what the tiyanak does that bothers me more! The tiyanak just keeps on doing what she is good at: corrupting, cheating, deceiving, murdering and all the worst words in the dictionary that can describe THING that may have been once a human being but has turned into NOTHING!

The conviction of Erap and the implementation of the deceptive anti terror bill may just be the spark that the people need to oust this thing called tiyanak.

Obviosly, the May 2007 election was a total failure! So something else has to be done! We thought we voted the right people into office but we are dead wrong. It is just the same trapos all over again. Poor Philippines! When will we ever learn?

  8. PSB,

Baka kilala ko ang kapatid mo. I was active in the circle of Filipino students here likewise in the 60’s. I was then waiting for my Japanese citizenship because I did not want to stay in the USA with my folks.

You bet, the Philippines was better off then, outwardly speaking but on the verge of collapse because of the bad economic policies during the reign of Dadong Macapagal that my professor then used to hammer into our young minds that Filipinos of my generation and those to come would never be able to pay back the debts and loans he had incurred, and the Philippines would be the sorriest sight in the years to come.

My professor apparently was right. Luckily, my folks and I were spared. We left the Philippines in the 60’s.

ano ba ito? i just hope AT4 won’t even entertain the idea of asking apology from that bansot! sana naman, ganun siya katatag.

  10. parasabayan parasabayan

Yuko, yes, my older brother was in Japan in the 60s. And maybe you know him.

  11. PSB,

May mga squatters na noon pa. This squatting in fact is the legacy of the last world war.

Manila was destroyed by US bombings, and people were left with nothing but charred remains of the city. They started rebuilding houses, I guess, with those charred roofings. Point is why they have not been encouraged to despise such poverty and live like human beings. After more than half a century, it is still the same.

In fact, when we left, the controversy then was the Sapang Palay relocation plan and the tenement housing in Punta that was a project of Imelda. Unfortunately, there was no Internet then and we failed to follow up news from the Philippines. I don’t also remember getting a copy of some Philippine news the way they are now scattered in the Bay Area in CA.

  12. parasabayan parasabayan

My brother hated the father of tiyanak too and so did my dad because of his bad economic policies! Obviously, tiyanak continued with his “legacy”.

No way will Trillianes do what the other 54 soldiers did! My reading would be that he will be the last Magdalo to get out from detention. This is the Trillianes I know!

Hope Senator Trillanes would not get tempted by the bait being dangled by Malacanang. Never trust the enemies that can not even trust themselves. First the give you all the carrots and then the Big Stick.

Tulfo can say anything he wants to destroy the credibility of Trillianes but it may take his lifetime to discredit Trillianes. Trillianes is a phenomenon, the last ray of hope. This phenomenon has to work!

  17. PSB: What is even more appalling is the Filipinos’ silence.

    *****

It’s called “indifference.” Funny but what this government is trying hard still to do is to condition the minds of Filipinos that no matter what they do, they cannot do anything, which is actually not true.

Katwiran ko, if the Japanese can do it, why can’t they? It is actually just a matter of having the right motivation, desire and yes, will to do it. Problem is that in the Philippines, people there are not given the right and chance to develop to be useful and good citizens, because once they have gained power, these crooks in the government now will no longer be able to do what they have gotten used to for their own selfish aggrandizement. Masarap kasing sila ang boss rather be the public servants that they should.

Inot-inot, and it may take another decade or two to indocrinate Filipinos. Huwag lang mapabayaan, even with this treachery by Cayetano and Escudero, hindi pa siguro hopeless and helpless as we are inclined to think.

Dito, we also have an Anti-Terror Law but no one is stopped to conduct peaceful rallies. And this, PSB, is what I do appreciate about being a Japanese national in addition to the many blessings and opportunities I have been granted with as a law-abiding citizen of Japan, which has no conflict with but beneficial indeed to my activities for the land of my birth.

  18. Tulfo? Who is this guy? I don’t read these columnists as a matter of fact because I know a paid lipserver when I see one. Ibang-iba doon sa mga kakilala kong sikat na journalists sa Japan who are in fact crusaders not just journalists. I like Ellen, Ka Mentong, et al because they are like the journalists I know.

My father was an associate editor of a movie magazine before and after WWII. When I told him that I would like to be a journalist, he stopped me. He said I should have another vocation and then do writing as a hobby, not make it as a profession. That way, he said, I would be able to make better use of my writing talent, and use my pen better than a sword!!! He said I could try writing fiction even without getting a degree in journalism or mass com. He was right.

My only worry now is the police/military brutality that he or his fellow defiant Magdalo are likely to be subjected to by the criminal mastermind to make them do as she now desires.

Pero gaya nga ng sabi ni Ellen, “I can’t wait to hear Trillanes’ answer.”Me, too!

  20. cocoy cocoy

    Jojo;
Tulfo’s ego is more taller than the Empire State Building, while in fact, Dagul’s IQ is greater than him. He is notorious in gaining notoriety, he always appear if there is a good opportunity. An assassin for hire and his lip service goes to a higher bidder. In the land of Gloria’s democracy, the reign are those who has money. If people bow on their needs they must answer for their deeds.

  21. cocoy cocoy

A ploy of Malacanang for Trillanes to succumb is a kid’s play. The only person who are compromising to a plea bargaining are those guilty and the evidence against them are strong and solid , even Bulldozer can’t demolished it and leveled it to the ground.

If Malacanang will pursue a case against him, they are in an awkward position, the DOJ exonerate Honasan, somehow there is a connection in between, How can they explain to the court that they let the mastermind go scotch free while the stunt character will answer the crime for his master. I am just asking?

Jadenlou: Certainly, Sen. Trillanes will not apologize to Gloria. Never.

  24. Come to think of it, Malacanang is not seeking a way out of the Trillanes problem but seeking ways and means to get rid of him once and for all. And this is what the Filipinos should make sure will never happen.

  25. In other words, tama na, sobra na.

  26. cocoy cocoy

    PSB;
The Anti-Terror bill that they are preparing to serve is raw cooked from the oven, is poisonous and deadly, the smell alone can cause a severe diarrhea, the butler who prepared that is also a butcher.

It is unconstitutional and inhumane treatment, The provisions on that bill can create chaos and confusion even in a judicial process. That bill is nothing more, but, a lethal weapon in Gloria’s arsenal to use by her executioner against the suspected enemies of the states. It is very scary and dangerous if that weapon goes to Palparan’s hand.—How about if your neighbor don’t like you and he call the cop and telling them that you are terrorist? They will just come and arrest you without any warrant and freeze your ass in a cold cement. The next an unfriendly interrogator comes to your cell, hook two leads of electrical wire on both of your nipple and turn the switch on,can you imagine your lungs will be blinking like a Christmas light inside your rib case until you admit on a false confession just for him to turned the switch off…..Araaaaaaaaay…

  27. Xanadu, PSB, and others who would still want to give Escudero and Cayetano aa second chance:

Baka sabihin ni Cayetano later on na Ellen misquoted him but what he said is clear. Administration na siya ngayon but will still go opposition on issues he thinks he needs to oppose not what the people want him to oppose! There is a big difference in doing things according to his liking and according to his conscience according to the general will and desire of the people. In short, wala siyang niloko kundi sarili niya.

  39. Technically, Trillanes doesn’t have anything to apologize to Gloria for at all… nothing at all because Gloria in the first place is not the DULY elected president of the republic.

Ironically, if ever there are people to whom the newly elected senator should, that is if he feels or believes he should apologize or explain the events surrounding the Oakwood mutiny, is to the military component of which he is or was a member, again that is if he believes he’s breached some military tenet. However, I do believe that the recent election gave him the moral and legal high ground as some sort of referendum, i.e., we are the people and we say, get on with it, do what you must do, (kind of thing), there is absolutely no moral obligation on his part to apologize to Gloria.

There is such a thing as MORAL COURAGE AND MORAL OBLIGATION – either he stands pat on what he believes in and fights for or he doesn’t. And I think, he shouldn’t – UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES – and must not apologize to Arroyo!

If by not apologizing, life becomes more difficult for him not only personally but also professionally as a senator, then so be it.

Things will not get easier for him, they will get rougher, more dangerous and extremely complicated for him but because he is young, he can build on his youth to take in the mean times ahead. (In the active service particularly at war time, it is the young ones and not the old ones who serve as gladiators to win the war – the old ones do not win the war for a nation, they are merely the guide but it is the young officers and men who eventually make or break a nation at war!)

Trillanes has loads of time ahead of him and having gone through the military service even for a short period of time only, he has the military stamina to sustain him – he must stand pat! He must use his time like a chess player would… bide his time and then go for the kill (that’s all that matters to achieve victory!)

aalagaan naman si erap, executive clemency pa before the election in 2010.

Clemency, Pardon or whatever is only offered and given after the court disposed of the case or the accused had pleaded guilty. It is not dangled to influence the outcome of a fair hearing. Plea Bargain on the other hand is an agreement between the Prosecutor (State) and the Accused for a lesser offence in exchange for either the accused pleading guilty to a lesser offense to spare the witnesses the hardship or agony of testifying or the accused co-operating with the crown or prosecutor as a witness.

Even as late as this week, President George W only commuted the sentence of Libby without any pre-announcement and only after the Court sentenced him to 30 months in Jail. And some times ago, former President Gerald Ford, pardon Disgraced President Nixon only after he resigned the Presidency when impeachment and a guilty verdict in senate trial was a certainty.

many hours later part of the truth says the tribune for its Saturday morning readers:

    The Daily Tribune
‘Erap guilty’ message spooks market; stocks fall
    07/07/2007

“The cardinal issued a statement claiming that Mrs. Arroyo never said she would be meddling in the court’s decision.

At the same time, however, it was noted that the cardinal did not deny he was so concerned that he rushed to Tanay, Rizal, where Estrada’s rest house is located. Neither did he deny that the issue discussed was Estrada’s imminent conviction.”

In the Oakwood episode, among the red flags raised by Antonio Trillanes IV is graft in the military, a component of the prevailing destructive corruption in the country. Is he justified? This is answered by the recent news that a former FOIC (Flag Officer in Command, meaning Navy Chief) was convicted, along with some subordinates, of malfeasance and infidelity in handling of funds.
I admit having special affection for this young man because of personal similarities. We were both regular officers in the Philippine Navy and separated from the service at about the same age. We both studied in U.P. Even our dissimilarities are endearing in contrast. He was a Mistah, I was not. He was a landlubber, I had sealegs. He commanded a Navy desk and pen, I commanded a gunboat. He completed a Masters degree, I declined orders to attend the Postgraduate Naval College at Monterey, Ca.
One cannot dispute that eleven million electors created a wonder boy of Trillanes.
The Trillanes phenomenon could turn out to be a powerful force for the nation’s progress. More so if he is untrammeled in his avowed pursuits. With former Senator Leticia Shahani advising him on Foreign Affairs his limited Navy experience can be expanded by his advocacy of UNCLOS (United Nations Convention of the Law of the Sea) a neglected opportunity by this and past administrations.

Just thinking aloud, why many left for good and left the ship floundering leaving the country at the mercy of pestering politicians…while I am left alone here parrying… I just hope no one rocks the boat, the only lifeboat we have left with Senator Trillanes gathering pieces and flotsams…

  51. Tongue:

“Nawala na yung telenobela ni Bedol! Ibalik ninyo yung palabas na iyon!”

Tama ka, real issues are being waylaid by non-issues. I suggest we concentrate on issues that really matter. Here are my issues in the order of importance:

    1. Jonas Burgos: Lest we forget, he’s still missing and the AFP is still in total denial. If I’d be allowed, I’ll start my future posts with a count-up as to the length of time since Jonas was abducted. I’ll stop only when Jonas surfaces, dead or alive. As a start, it has been 2 months and 9 days today (07 July 2007) since he was abducted. Let us not forget Jonas. Let’s keep track of his forced disappearance…

    2. The Maguindanao vote: Bakit pinakawalan si Bedol? Bakit isasama sa bilang ang mga botong dinuktor. COMELEC, and by extension, the entire government, has been too kind too Bedol and too harsh on the rest of the Maguindanao voters.

    3. This government’s meddling in the affairs of the Sandiganbayan: We must not be fooled into seeing the issue as Erap’s acquittal vs Erap’s conviction, and any other options in between. Ang isyu rito, bakit pinapakialaman ng sangay tagapagpaganap sa pangunguna ni Aling Gloria ang Sandiganbayan.

    4. The government’s handling of Senator Trillanes: Aling Gloria’s men are trying desperately hard to give Senator Trillanes a most special treatment by preventing him from working. Is this how much they love him? That, they don’t want him to work? They have to realize that we, and not them, are the boss. Senator Trillanes should not work only if we say so… They did not hear the boss talking? They did not know that we sent LtSG Trillanes to the Senate?

    Neonate;
Your expression of doubt about the raising of the red flags by Trillanes if it’s justified, to those more than 11 millions who voted for him, agreed! For them his action justified the reason in endemic corruption. The arrogance of your ate Glue’s governance and the rampant corruption of her cabals of cohort and disrespecting the written constitution of the land, sparked their aggressive mind to stages a coup as the only alternative solution having no one has the testicle fortitude to stand and fight. Again,11 million plus people agreed. It is an undeniable facts of course!

At least you have special affection for him, although, you’ve mentioned that you have dissimilarities, I salute you for that for being honest to your feelings. He might be a landlubber compared to you as a tugboat commander, but, his sailing inexperience and unfamiliarity with the sea doesn’t qualified him to be a bad sailor, and a law-abiding citizen. His untimely opportunity to be an skipper on the ship can be also the reason on his long written list of disappointment being a Mistah while some navigator on the ship they are commanding are not. It is not the rank and the position in the military, Captain! but, PASSION–passion to sail, and passion to explore the sea, such as the Marine and the Army, gunpowder is perfume to them and bang!bang!bang! are music to their ears. Did I miss something?

  54. I will never believe the Malacanang crooks if I were you. You never believe a criminal, period, even when they succeed corrupting some people to justify the means like when they succeeded in corrupting two stalwarts or so we thought to justify the black propaganda they are spreading now that Trillanes is the same as Escudero and Cayetano because he is after all a FILIPINO!

    Valdemar:
Since, you are asking why our people leaving our country. My answer to you, is that I am not looking to put down our beloved country in shame, but, the people is the problem, they are paranoia. I can certainly say at least from my personal experience when I was still in the Philippines, that there is a lot of people seems to treat their kababayan with a measure of disdain, A peasants and a poor palaboy especially if you are probinsyano when you come to Manila or in the suburbs with a limited learning of only grade II, a dialect of a bunch illiterates and forgotten barrio in undeveloped backyard toilet and the pig is ready to catch anything you deposed, or an association of a gangster associated with a dialect of Oki-nana, Patayon or Tunto. Sad to say my friend, it is still our fellow arrogant kababayan who grew up in Alta Sociedad who bleached their skin and tint their hair who treated these poor promdi. I’ve heard these awful stories everyday when I was growing up in Olongapo, don’t get me wrong!, I am not neither one of them, I wear Adidas and Hang-ten and go on vacation with full of money in my wallet. Those are the victims of insults and injustice and they want to change their lives and they marry Canuto and Negro even it needs a lot of repairing on the gas tank after a long painful night because the nozzle is too big, in the end, they got used to it.

They come to America, get their U.S. Citizenship and petitioned all their families, A buy one take all for GI Joe. That’s is why U.S. Embassy in Manila are busy processing family visas, because Mrs. Canuto has a big family and she wants to get them all here in America. Dolyar! Amigo compared to Peso.

  59. You bet Mrivera. I was surprised to see the new format. I didn’t change it. Nor did my administrator. I was hacked again. Hindi pa in effect and Human Security Act.

  60. I actually noted the change, and I tried to call the attention of Ellen about it. Just make sure you have your virus buster and spyware on.

Bakit may gagawin ba silang Animal Security Act in addition to it? Just kidding!

  62. Nag-umpisa iyong mahabang pila sa US Embassy in fact in the 60’s, pero hindi hanggang kalsada. Brain drain was the issue when we left the Philippines. Tumindi when Macapagal was president.

Pamilya naman namin, it was not hunger that we felt uneasy with. Ani sa lupain was more than enough to feed our clan. It was just that my parents were looking for a better place for us to grow and prove ourselves.

Favorite expression ng father ko, “I want you to find your place under the sun.” I did.

  63. BTW, Ellen, the pygmy did not get invited for a state visit to Japan. Tapos na ang allotment niya. Request pala niya, but the Japanese government is busy to entertain anybody now, and definitely not at the expense of the Japanese taxpayers. Mangungutang lang naman iyan! Akala niya kasi kung sino siya.

The Human Security Act in a Responsible Government Hands maybe a Good Law as proven in our case that we are able to prevent and anticipate the progress of terrorists before they materialized, but in the current Government in the Philippines to Quote DJB it is ANTI-ANTI TERRORISM ACT. Implemented by Asperon and Madame Glo it will aggravate terrorism more that it will stump it, or they will use the law to Terrorize the Public Themselves.

Neonate: Thanks with all the new words I learned.
*landlubber-one who has had little experience at sea.
*sealegs the ability to walk without loss of balance on board a ship
In both you used past tense “was a landlubber” “had sea legs. You commandered a PTBoat like JFK? To go after the smugglers in Mindanao? Did we ever (other than WWII) use ships, etc. at war in PI the last 50 years? I had ridden in navy boats..one was sent to Antique to pick up my father when he had a serious heart attack..
Trillanes had no experience- hands on experience..maybe so but there is no need for it right now.. to use at war..
the struggle we have is to fight corruption and clean up the gov’t. We can all work together in this..right?
I have no problem understanding you in that. But can you in whatever way ( you think you can)help? We need people like you to advise..Puede? Pungko anay kag mag istoryahanay kita. Ti kaon ron..
Valdemar- I left the Phil. “kasi walang magawa sa buhay” at the time. I didn’t want to be here. But I find myself here- half spent in the Phil. and half here in the states. To borrow the words above- I am both a landlubber and have sealegs. I have no regrets whatsoever. I am raring to go home (but I am keeping my apt. here)to Antique- “there shall my home ever be.” Mauli gid takon sa Antique..the land of the peaceful and free…(tanong mo kay Ellen)
And together we all will fight for the rights we adore with Sen. Trillanes…citizens of Ellenville…

Visayas govs, Palace clash over regional council leadership

    By Joey A. Gabieta
    Visayas Bureau
Last updated 03:39pm (Mla time) 07/07/2007

TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte — The scramble for the coveted chairmanship of the Regional Development Council in Eastern Visayas may turn out to be a fight between the governors in the region and some highly placed officials of Malacañang.

This emerged after Eastern Samar Governor Ben Evardone revealed on Saturday that he and the other governors in the region have committed to support the bid of Leyte Governor Carlos Jericho Petilla to become the next RDC-8 chairman.

Some Malacañang officials, notably Secretary Gabriel Claudio, are pushing, however, for Calbayog City Mayor Mel Senen Sarmiento to succeed the outgoing RCD chair, former Southern Leyte Governor Rosette Lerias, according to Evardone.

Claudio, who is from Samar, is also the Cabinet official for Regional Development of Eastern Visayas.

  68. Rose:

Experience, actually, should not be made the only basis for one to be successful in something he wants to do and is foreordained to do as in the case of Senator Trillanes. It is not everything as a matter of fact.

We learn from experience, yes, but there is always a first to everything, even experience. Experience in fact comes from trying to do what one is compelled to do. For me, what is more important is the motive in doing what’s right or wrong. I would prefer the former though because of my religious conviction.

I see the potential in Senator Trillanes. I will not allow anybody to even try to change my conviction and good opinion of this brave soldier. This guy deserves my support, and yes, my admiration for a job well done.

I don’t believe God will abandon him now. I’m actually just watching what God will do next to stop these creeps who now try to destroy his spirit. His victory for me is miracle enough for me to have more faith in God and His Power, even in the power of prayers said from the heart!!!

  69. rose rose

ystakei: I feel the same way too..God will not abandon him. As a matter of fact, on the day Sen. Trillanes took his oath- one of the readings at mass that day was Psalm 23..To me it was not coincidental that this was so..it was Providential.

  70. Surprise, surprise, surprise!

Rose, I just read in Tribune that Oliver Lozano of KBL has offered to provide Trillanes with proof of poll fraud. I hope he’s for real now even just to make amends and redeem his own name. Nasira si Lozano for going with the wrong crowd as a matter of fact. Matalino pa naman sana. UP Law grad na sinayang ang talino for allowing himself to be used by the criminal in the palace by the murky river and her cohorts.

Trillanes has welcome the offer. I would, too, because it is what he actually needs. I know, however, that with Lozano’s reputation, Trillanes will be very careful dealing with him. It isn’t arrogance, mind you, if Trillanes finds out something fishy and turns Lozano down. It is common sense. Senator Trillanes has plenty of that compared to the idiot who knows only how to commit crimes and cover her tracts.

  71. Rose,

I know the Psalm of David by heart. It has been made into a beautiful hymn in our church, and I sing it when I am troubled. It’s titled “The Lord Is My Shepherd.”

David’s psalm is a joyful proclamation of God’s providence. Humankind can live free from fear because, like the good shepherd, God will always provide, protect, and guide this flock.

“You anoint my head with oil” – When a king made a covenant with a vassal, he often sealed it by holding a banquet. During the festivities, it was customary to anoint the head of his guests with oil as a sign of friendship and protection.

You bet, Rose, God is on his side as long as he is likewise on the Lord’s side.

  72. Way out of Trillanes problem is for Gloria the dunces’ queen to hang herself from the highest lamppost and perhaps when she does that, there will be sympathy from the very maawain na Pinoys, i.e., they will take her down before she goes into coma.

  73. Sampot Sampot

Lozano is not in it for Truth but for the money he can extort from Malacanan. Kailangang makabawi sa pagkatalo sa eleksyon.

Mahirap paniwalaan ang isang tao na ginawang hanapbuhay ang pagiging “swindler” at the expense of the country.

  74. Sampot,

Let’s see what Lozano can offer.

You bet, mahirap siyang pagkatiwalaan after all that he did. Sabi nga, “Once bitten, twice shy.” Mahirap din akong magtiwala once I’m tricked and fooled by someone I have trusted once.

  75. acer acer

Si Trillanes problema ng Malacanang? A big no! Akalain mo nag who does yun tatlong itlog (Chiz, Cayetano and Villar). Even if Trillanes is in the senate.

  76. parasabayan parasabayan

Acer, I agree with you. Although Trillianes may have the capacity to correct the corruption going on in tiyanak’s kingdom, if he is not a member of the committee in the senate that is in charge of investigating any of the anomalous activities of the administration, hanggang salita lang siya dahil he will not have the floor to do anything. This is why the admin trapos are fighting so hard to gain control of the Blue Ribbon committee because they know that once the admin gets that, they will simply look the other way and the Senate will just be on status quo until the tiyanak is gone. Worse, Villar may strike up a deal with the Admin that if he wins the presidency, he will be soft on digging into the tiyanak’s offences so she will not suffer the same fate that Erap had. It is all wheeling and dealing. The last three years of this “mad pint sized acting and illegal president” will be very interesting. We may hate some of the senators now for crossing the lines but we may see how the puzzle gets solved at a later date. All these politicos are “players”. This is how they survive. If anyone of them show their own color, they are easy preys.

This Lozano is not a credible person. Yes, he may be the greatest swindler of all! Baka pain lang iyan ni tiyanak. But Trillianes should discern the danger ahead of him. There will be a lot of “sugos” from the tiyanak for sure, disguised as his ally! I am pretty sure that the other GO senators will be able to guide him somehow. What are extremely important are his passion to serve the people, a sincere heart and good intentions.

  77. parasabayan parasabayan

What will Lozano gain from feeding Trillianes some info? Baka kukuha lang siya ng mga info kay Trillianes and fee them to the tiyanak in exchange for money. Everyone should know now that tiyanak has a doctorate degree in feeding her dogs with money and position of power! Be careful Sonny!

  78. parasabayan parasabayan

Correction: Baka kukuha lang siya ng mga info kay Trillianes and feed them to the tiyanak in exchange for money.

  79. Lozano – as Cocoy may ask the same question – would you buy a second hand car from Lozano?
I’m sure that Sonny Trillanes knows who to trust and who not to trust because his detention has given him a Masters in the subject of Truth & Justice – he will have more than enough ‘real’ witnesses to come forward to spill the beans once his inquiry gets under way.

  80. rose rose

IF Villar wins. But who will vote? The people! We are learning and we learn fast- We can play the game with their rules..The people voted for you in 2007 but they can vote against you in 2010. I have my faith in God and the people not in the politicians of today. Before 2010 things will change – there are still good people in the Phil. who will serve .. and who still sing “I Love the Phil.” and mean it. Have you not noticed that dito sa America iba iba ang pagkanta sa Nat. Anthem? Jazzy pa kung minsan, o ginagawang “blues”. I have not heard that happening in the Phil. Dito sa America some people burn the flag..hindi pa nangyari sa Pilipinas. Tunay ang pagmamahal sa bayan ng karamihan.

  81. Elvira Sahara Elvira Sahara

Yes, Sen. Trillanes shouldn’t bite that piece of bone offered by Lozano! Oh, NO…there might be poison in it! Tama si Cocoy…Bibilhin mo ba ang second-hand car from a guy named Lozano? Kahit na bigay pa! No, thank you, I better walk!

Wonder how he pass the Bar? How many times he took the exam? Lozano’s legal practice is useful to the payaso and puppet. He is the clown member of the Bar Association of the Philippines. He send most of his innocent clients in correctional facilities through forced plea bargaining. If anyone want to sue someone and want a fast conviction hire a lawyer and at the same time hire Lozano to volunteer his legal service to that person whom you accused.

Escudero and Cayetano likewise were then very young still when they began their tirades on the stench of the firm. Disillusioned?
    But where are they now?

Our hero is so disillusioned as well at a very young age. Where will he go from here? Could we stop him to fail? Or we just don’t ever learn the stark truth of politics and all. It wont be long now when we wished better if we ourselves did something earlier of what he and the others began. There’s another distressing newsbreak of Lim going aboard the bangkang papel…

It’s not what Lozano can extract from Trillanes. It’s what Lozano can extract from Malacanan.

It’s basic marketing when selling a product, you identify a need. If there isn’t a need, you create one.

By saying that he is ready to furnish Trillanes evidence of fraud, is actually informing Malacanan that “Hey, you need to buy me [again] or else you’ll have a headache”.

He is creating a need for Malacanan to buy him or his product.

  91. martina martina

  92. rose rose

Sampot: You have a point. May magka spoiler ata.

  93. Cocoy:

Lozano was not an idiot. He was brainy during his younger days. UP Law graduate iyan, scholar and passed the bar at one take. I understand that he benefitted from some scholarship given by the Marcos foundation even before Marcos became president of the Philippines, and for that he tried to show his loyalty to the Marcoses.

My siblings know him personally. And I must admit I was one of those tricked into believing that he was sincere when he submitted those petitions for the impeachment of Gloria M. Arroyo, until a journalist friend told me that he was making deals with the Pidals.

I actually wondered about the police escorts and free use of AFP cars provided him. It was only when I checked around and found out the reason why. He was a Malacanang emissary.

No wonder Imee Marcos did not want to work with him regarding the impeachment even when some Marcos Loyalists tried to persuade her to cooperate. Nasira siya tuloy.

Matalino pa naman sanang naturingan, but I guess the lure of money with everyone really being held by the neck by the Mafiosa at Malacanang could really be strong unless of course one is self-reliant and self-sufficien, and well-equipped with a conviction that God does always provide kahit na kaunti as I know it to be true.

Kawawang mga nilalang. Kawawang Pilipinas! My condolence to all!

  94. Once a friend told me that when one enters politics in the Philippines, it is more or less like entering a pig’s pen that no matter how clean one may try to be, he will end up smelling like the pigs in it!!!

Hopefully, Senator Trillanes will have an armor to keep him from getting contaminated by the stench, etc. in that pig’s pen made more smelly and stinky by the Oinky Pidals. Tulungan natin siyang maging mabuti, the kind of politicians we all want him to be, and what he says he can be!!!

  95. I hope they are not misquoting Lim, but then, who is Lim? Paagos-agos din iyan. Still, I hope and pray that he has not forgotten but emulate the examples of his former boss, Mayor Arsenio Lacson, the only Mayor of Manila, who never kowtowed to any Malacanang occupant, especially not one who had gotten there by devious means and ways!!!

I think Oliver Lozano is Ilokano. From Ilocos, Maybe. He must be smart being a UP grad. How could he corrupted himself all the way to the bottom of the drain. Ilocano’s has virtue. I think his virtue of a good citizen and intelligent man could not bind in tight under a physical density, Or maybe because the environment and the dimension that he is living right now is a ideally corrupted regime and the leprechauns make him to do their dirty works. Maybe, Lozano is still suffering from post concussion amnesia that it is his, Buddy Marcos still the occupant of Malacanang. If his brain is still intact and only lacking serotonin he can still redeem his lose luster reputation that exposed to corruption. If he is cured he is capable of choosing to be a good citizen and a brilliant man at the same time. That may require him to act differently than the good man would act and to believe things that the good man knows to be false is one of the unfortunate tragedies for him being an Ilocano.

It is my pleasure to tag along with you.As I mentioned to my Buddy Tongue you have a good putter and you are welcome on any foursome any time you choose. My friend,I know we all have a common goal and that’s love for our country. Our team is in need of good players like you, although we are facing a tremendous handicap, together we can bring the ball on a kicking position to shot for a goal.—-You are welcome my friend!

  99. Cocoy,

Yes, Lozano is from Ilocos Norte. I forgot the town but what I wrote was what I knew of the man. I don’t know who corrupted him but up until now I know he represents Imelda, who must have great influence on him.

I actually thought myself that he was for real, but it turned out he was not. I even clapped my hands when I learned about his petition for impeachment of Gloria the first time. Before that in fact he submitted a lawsuit against Gloria and her cohorts that was apparently denied by the court.

Then, a journalist friend of mine told me that he was in fact in cahoot with the Malacanang occupants that I suspected was because of some agreement not to put Imelda in jail, and to dismiss all cases against her. That I thought was foul because if Imelda is guilty, it is just right that she should be made legally responsible for her crime.

It is just too bad that there are just too many people in the Philippines like Lozano who have not learned to use the talents and intelligence God has blessed them with for good and welfare of their fellowmen. Pathetic indeed!

The issue of the 2010 Presidential elections and the presumptive contenders is definitely a fascinating topic. But we should cease being fanatics (Churchill quote) that continue beating to death the effects and potential consequences of the 2007 elections.

  101. Neonate, make your comments brief and concise. I edit out long comments because it’s ruins the flow of discussion. Nobody also reads kilometric comments.

This is not the place to post lengthy proposals.

  102. What fanaticism is this guy talking about? Nobody is being fanatical here. Just trying to put sense in the head of those who can’t have any sense at all.

You don’t generalize please. You are entitled to your opinion and we are entitled to ours. We have seen enough to try to make even those who get paid by the Pidals for trying hard to mess up discussions here or create intrigues to see sense, and try to be patriotic even for once.

What you have there in the Philippines are criminals who are breaking the laws of the land, and they need to be put in jail at least for the rest of their lives if possible.

  103. It’s good to mark down from now the names of those Filipinos should never ever vote again. There are lots many there who should be given a chance to prove their worth and what they can do for their country. But first, Filipinos should concentrate now on removing the big hindrance in Philippine progress—the criminal squatting at the palace by the murky
    river together with her cahoots.

  104. Sampot Sampot

I don’t think “forecasting” the effects and potential consequences of the 2007 elections is fanaticism. Being able to predict the outcome of any political exercise is one manifestation that indeed we have learned something from past experiences – political upheavals like EDSA 1 & 2.

IF we are not to discuss these things, what else do we want to talk about, the possible career outcome of Pinoy Big Brother winner? What’s her name, is it Saw?

TV programs like this make Filipinos bobo.

  105. 2 months, 11 days since the abduction of Jonas Burgos…

I think, I can see what neonate is trying to say regarding “being fanatics (Churchill quote) that continue beating to death the effects and potential consequences of the 2007 elections.”, and I believe, he means well.

Everybody has come to know the message behind the 2007 elections, and everybody understands the possible consequences. I think, he’s trying to point out that we should move on from the celebratory stage to protecting whatever “gains” we got from the recent polls.

This early, we are already witnessing “betrayals” from those who, we thought, were selfless enough to give priority to representing our collective voice when the 14th Congress opens. During the campaign period, we were sure where they stood. During these trying times, we must begin to cautiously observe how our leaders behave. Otherwise, we may find ourselves bitter once these betrayals are confirmed.

Sabi nga ng mga Arabo, there’s no use kicking a dead donkey.

Correct me if I am wrong, neonate…

  106. So Lim has ‘surrendered’ too?

  107. No. Arroyo just attended an official function in Manila.

In his oathtaking ceremony, Lim thanked God and Erap.

The applause when Erap’s name was mentioned was louder than when Lim thanked God.

  108. chi chi

“The applause when Erap’s name was mentioned was louder than when Lim thanked God.”

  109. chi chi

I have no doubt that Trillanes election to the Senate is only the beginning of his brilliant career as a conscientious public servant.

Fanatics we are not for we only believed on what the man can do for his country and countrymen!

  110. rose rose

Neonate: It was when Tobias Fornier was congressman of Antique and he was chairman of Appropriations Committee. Ninong ko siya and he was a good friend of my father. At vacation time whenever he went home to Antique kasama kaming mga bata sa AFP plane or Navy Boat. A mild form of corruption perhaps but it was called then as “the privilege of one in power.”

  111. re: The applause when Erap’s name was mentioned was louder than when Lim thanked God.

Wonderful! Televised ba?

I’ve never seen such a midget whose skin is thicker than an alligator’s or a hippopotamus’ hide! Walanghiya!

  112. rose rose

Is she made of steel? Maybe so, and hindi lang yon, her whole being and probably soul is made to STEAL!

  113. rose,

and you know what? her face is soooooo white because she uses geisha apog!

  114. rose rose

AdB- Kaya pala- ang hirap linisin. Sa Guimaras kaya ang manga nila ay nakakaiba kasi the soil in the land has lime or apog.
Cocoy/Neonate:You two seem to be “military oriented..puede ba ako sumali sa van/band wagon/carosa or whatever ninyo? Hindi ako military–pero ok sa akin ang “civillian upod upod”. What may I do? Thanks. Just curious neo- new nation?new hind? new buttock (that part of the body that joins the legs and the back)? Interesting…

  115. Anna:

Not Geisha Apog, Chinese Apog kasi iyong ginagamit ng mga geisha na pagpinta ng mukha, made of rice. 😛

Hindi makita iyong braso kasi pirming naka-long sleeves.

Akala ko gumagamit lang ng papaya soap!

  116. chi chi

    Hahahah! Oks na Oks Rose.

The tianak’s souls is made to STEAL!

Ka Enchong, you must be prescient. How else could you have known the next item on the discarded post was my endorsement of your move-on proposal, and added some of my own? How else could you have sensed that I was on the verge of drafting my valedictory to Ellenville and made me waver in this resolve? Thank you, I’ll stay and join your appeal.
Rose, the chances are remote that the tub (endearing term for small naval craft) that ferried your father was my ship. My nom de plume pseudonym “neonate” (newborn in English) was conceived as I was not born yesterday. And yes, my naval career was brief, but I regard the memory with nostalgia, as that period in my life buttressed my love for this country and its people. Let no one ever question my devotion to both, and the passion I could muster for the detractors, starting with the corrupt in the bureaucracy.

  118. neonate neonate

Okay, off with the kid gloves and on with the rough-and-tumble henceforth.
The Trillanes phenomenon is real, not a miracle, brought about by the ire of eleven million of our electorate. I did not vote for Trillanes for reasons I will not disclose here. But I will honor the concept that enough of the electorate selected him to symbolize their feeling of displeasure and represent their hopes and aspirations in the Senate. Now the task of supporters of Senator Trillanes has just begun, and I am including myself in the task. The foremost task is to protect him. He needs protection against those who threaten him as there are many who wield power and who would be elated to make him fail. There exist threats in the Senate, Santiago (remember Maid Miriam who eats threats for breakfast) and Enrile are potential interpellators with humongous arrogance. Jose de Venecia’s lust for Parliamentary government might make the Senate irrelevant. The Gonzales twins can conjure the simmering leftist label and contrive a link to Trillanes on a signal from Ate Glue in retaliation for the hostile anti-Gloria speech on his oath taking.. And there is his nemesis the puffed-up CoS General (watch his exaggerated chest-out chin-in posture when he observes the cameras pointing in his direction) a body language that confirms his full-of-himself attitude.

  119. neonate neonate

Senator Trillanes needs help. His past desk job in the Navy will be of little help in formulating legislation he vowed to undertake such as more benefits for veterans and active duty personnel (as a veteran, a few more pesos would be welcome). As I mentioned earlier, the offer of former Senator Leticia Shahani, sister of former Pres. Fidel Ramos, to give her advise on foreign affairs such as UNCLOS.
The Senator would also need help in blocking wastage of public funds by the Palace, such as blatant patronage gimmicks as Gloria Labandera, boondoggles like the GMA street sweeper jobs creation, and self-serving donations such as free PhilHealth insurance cards printed with the Ate Glue mug.

  120. I find neonate’s assessment is good and useful particularly where Trillanes may need help in the Senate, eg, interpellations, etc..

  121. neonate neonate

Senator Trillanes is resolute, an admirable quality in a leader. A lesser man would have buckled under the mental torture his jailors subjected him to, unlike his Magdalo comrades who did not have the stamina and fortitude; and succumbed, even finked, under the pressure. They were coerced into plea bargaining of guilty under a lesser charge of conduct unbecoming an officer and gentleman.
Trillanes could still be swayed by the inducement of being unshackled. Time will tell.
But a caveat: dangling the carrot is Apostol of Madame Wetness fame, not Gloria. But then again, even if it comes from the horse’s mouth herself, why should anyone believe a mendacious female whose infamous Rizal Day 2002 I-will-not-run-so-as-to-unite-the-Filipino-people (the rest is history, one which I surmise will not be too kind to this dumpy female).
I must confess that I voted for her, deciding on election eve after agonizing about whom to choose, as Poe had no skeletons in his closet. The precarious state of the economy, teetering on the brink of collapse, tipped the balance in her favor. Imagine my horror when the Hello Garci scandal broke.
Making fun of Apostol’s Leyte accent (Madame Wetness) rather than ‘Witness’ is impolite, uncivil to all Leytenos. That is their customary accent and have the right to its use in all its purity – not anglicized – if they so choose. (I did declare earlier that the kid gloves are off.)
And if anyone wonders why the fragmented comment, I learned that this is the ubiquitous fashion to avoid truncation.

    Rose:
Glad that you want to tag along with some experienced military men. Welcome to the Ellenville Armed Forces. Neonate is a veteran on the sea, Mrivera is on land ,I can teach you how to spread your wings and fly. Although my “glide slope” oftentimes is improper,I opposed the use of female combat pilot, downplaying the “Tailhook Scandal”, a military sexual abused. The reality, females oftentimes criticized to keep them in not competing for fighter pilot slots. There are no fighter jets open for women. I tell you it’s a lot of fun, I got my degree in Aerospace Engineering and attended naval officer candidate school in Pensacola, Florida. That’s all I can only tell you. If you want to know further, I tell you then I kill you! So, no ask! Neonate laid his resume on the table. Mrivera has an impressive combat experienced too. You are welcome to tag along with us in Land Air and Sea.
