Magkasama na naman ang mga tuso

Updates: Two impeachment complaints against GMA filed.

Third Arroyo impeachment complaint to be filed soon

A minor distraction – Bunye

Raul del Mar at Rep.

“THE Philippines will get an additional $2 million in military assistance from the United States but only if the Arroyo government shows progress in addressing political killings”

The jokers are together again for the sake of political survival and therefore business as usual.

At bawat araw, katulad ngayon, may numero.

Ang grupo nila, tawagin kong mga gahaman at takaw pwesto vs the People of the Philippines.

  8. The prevailing culture of impunity gives a wrong sense of power or creates a situation conducive to the abuse of power without any legal consequences. The prevailing feeling within the GMA administration is that they “can get away with anything” by simply issuing denials, making cover-ups or creating distractions ( example: the new “Cha-Cha” move) , distortions by the usual spin doctors and ,of course, bribery attempts.

Huwag silang pakasisiguro. If there is a lopsided rule, it will not succeed.

Knives, your boss, the tiyanak is trying her best to enrage the people so she can eventually declare martial law. She is “guilty” in all counts of extrajudicial killings, bribery, corruption, stealing votes to ensure her victory and all other crimes. And you think she is not capable to stage the Glorietta massacre? Think again?

  16. PARASABAYAN:

I’m 100% convinced that Gloria will do a Musharraf and declare martial law to perpetuate herself in power for the following reasons:

1)George W. Bush will not disagree. Therefore she must do it while he still in power.(The next U.S. President may be a Democrat and may not tolerate her move).

2)The Neocons and ex-generals dominate the cabinet (Gonzalez, Puno, Ermita,Mendoza,Ebdane,Reyes,etc.).

3)The “Genuine Opposition” AND Erap have been co-opted.

4)$100/ barrel cost of oil will have very adverse economic consequences.

5)She will use the “threat of terrorism” as a pretext.

  17. parasabayan parasabayan

Martial Law is very real The Equalizer!

Knives, may 200 kang natanggap sa boss mo?

    knives,
Ang nagsasabing may ganyang report ang FBI, Aussies , etc… e PNP mismo… but the actual report of these int’l group, e wala pang inilalabas ang PNP… weird di ba?

Also last week, nag-demo sila sa TV kung paano maaring sumabog ang DIESEL sa open area and closed area…. malakas nga ang pagsabog … dahil ang siste ginamitan nang detonator ( in short, gumamit ng maliit na bomba in both cases ) …

    need we say more?

  20. piping dilat piping dilat

again… no one can violate the laws of Physics and Chemistry… and I mean no one! that includes the PNP, AFP, GMA and her cohorts!

  21. piping dilat,

Apparently GMA and company think they are above all
“laws” be it natural or constitutional, they have people like knives who can expect us to believe the poso negro explosion theory and blame the Malabanans.

  22. piping dilat piping dilat

    juggernaut,

that is the reason why i am more certain that they have something to do with that incident… they have to resort to these pathetic twisting of facts to cover up their dastardly act; “there were no evidence of bomb on site” but earlier reported the presence of RDX…haven’t you notice how very inconsistent their story was? and how much they are banking on the FBI , Aussies, etc “agreeing” with their story of the septic gas explosion incident?… and yet they can not explain the mechanics of the explosion convincingly… they should have studied their sciences well … tsk tsk tsk….

so if they have to go thru all this trouble fortifying their story in stead of simply acknowledging the simpliest explanation of it all… that a bomb was used in Glorietta 2… tells me that they are trying very hard to cover up for someone … obviously not the Jamah Islamiyah…

  23. skip skip

If it weren’t for the noise generated by the commentators, the bloggers, and all those who are speaking their mind out against the “gas” bullshit that the government is foisting on the people, then the coverup would have been a
    fait accompli.

Tapos ang boksing. Nagoyo na naman tayo.

Luckily, the collective hue and cry has forced Razon and Barias to accept that the bomb theory cannot be discounted.

Any one with a modicum of common sense would know that a gas explosion could NOT have caused such damage.

And, a methane explosion with no fire? Please.

  25. piping dilat piping dilat

So knives, after reading all the comments to your post earlier, do you still think that we don’t want to accept the PNP version of the incident because it is simply politics why we suspect that the administration has something to with this?

  28. The issue about martial is not “IF” but WHEN”.

    That’s Gloria’s last ace.

But ,unlike the Marcos declaration, the gloria version will not last as long and will eventually FAIL :

1)We are now an interconnected-global village. There is now more “connection” among concerned people of the world (not among nations).

    2)The power of blogs.(”Free Burma”)

    3)8 million OFWs abroad.

    4)It’s not a monolithic military.

    5)CNN,BBC

6)Most importantly, the power of one who will really say “NEVER AGAIN” and mean it.

    * Both have big credibility gaps with their respective people

and both might finish their terms!

Bush, as almost all indications show, will finish his term in 2008.

With Aling Gloria, however, there are three distinct possibilities:

    1. She will stick to her words this time and exit as scheduled by noon of June 30, 2010.

    2. She will be forced to step down prior to 2010, as the controversies hounding her government gets heavier by the day.

    3. She will succeed in circumventing the rules and manage to stay on beyond 2010.

If I were to rank them in order of personal preference, I’d take number two. Number one will be the minimum acceptable. I wouldn’t even imagine option number three, because, if that happens, parang nagpagago na tayo ng husto… parang pakyawan tayong kinapon.

Nelbar:Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is a pro-democracy activist and leader of the National League for Democracy in Myanmar (Burma), and a noted prisoner of conscience and advocate of nonviolent resistance. A Buddhist, Suu Kyi won the Rafto Prize and the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought in 1990 and in 1991 was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and in 1992 she was awarded the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru peace price of Government of India for her peaceful and non-violent struggle under a military dictatorship. She is currently under detention, with the Myanmar government repeatedly extending her detention. According to the results of the 1990 general election, Suu Kyi earned the right to be Prime Minister, as leader of the winning National League for Democracy party, but her detention by the military junta prevented her from assuming that role.

  49. I saw it on ABS CBN news a few nights ago, Gov. Panlilio has become marginalized in his own province, apparently the mayors are not happy with the provincial government controlling the proceeds of the quarry (millions of Php) and these mayors are in league with Mrs. Pineda (wife of bong Pineda?). Do they want a “Malacanang – like” disbursement of funds?

  50. Etnad,

I may be mistaken, forgive an OFW’s ignorance, isn’t Binay a good alternative to Gloria? I mean he’s done good things in Makati like the yellow card in OSMAK etc.? Of course, Legarda is an obvious opportunist.

  51. Etnad Etnad

    Jug,

What miraculous manifestations can we expect in the months to come? We’ve seen cold cash appearing from nowhere, people disappearing mysteriously, an unstoppable growing budget deficit, and a reverse version – vanishing loaves of bread and fish so people go hungry. Of course there’s the pera na naging bato pa NBN ZTE broadband fiasco, what else is there?

  57. Adel Tamano refused an offer from GMA? Wow, he gave up a potentially very lucrative arrangement, that good huh?

  58. JUGGS:the power of ONE ,who will NOT give up!

People have forgotten allegations about Ping Lacson

    By Ramon Tulfo
    Inquirer
Last updated 06:48am (Mla time) 04/26/2007

MANILA, Philippines — The influential Jesus Is Lord Movement of Bro. Eddie Villanueva is helping Sen. Panfilo Lacson get reelected.

How easy for people to forget the alleged atrocities Lacson did as a young officer of the defunct Philippine Constabulary and head of the armed group of the Presidential Anti-Crime Commission (PACC), also now defunct!

On Aug. 30, 2003, I came out with a special episode in my now defunct public service program, “Isumbong mo kay Tulfo,” on RPN 9 about Lacson.

    Read complete report in http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/inquirerheadlines/metro/view_article.php?article_id=62584

  70. JUGG: horrible,As I said the man is too ruthless. But I like him as a counterweight to the Palace gang. But NOT as a President.

  71. Don’t trust everything Mon Tulfo says. The man has always been for sale.

  72. Tulfo is a shit of the lowest category. He would supply inuendo after inuendo. I’d be happy if Lacson shot him in the head.

  73. Etnad Etnad

  74. Juggernaut, for articles from other publications, I would prefer to you just link it. Just provide the url.

I discourage “cut and paste” of the whole article.

  75. ana:I just voted: shall I call Garci for one million votes?

  76. Anna, Lacson is not close to Honasan.

  77. There is no dearth of alternatives to Gloria. It’s an insult to 86 million Filipinos to say that there is no better alternative to her. Anybody is better than her.

Hold an election. There will be no dearth of candidates. We choose.

But first, Gloria and Noli must step down.

  78. Looking for a future leader? I place my bet on Sen. Trillanes.

  79. Its a shame, Lacson could be the president with a “strong” presence we have always needed. Someone ala Marcos but not exactly, you know, strong political will and the personality to follow through, someone who can whip the police and military back into shape. All these allegations are incredibly horrible. Too horrible infact, that I suspect its part of a “psy war thing,” you know, the urban legends they spread about someone as sometimes fear is a good thing if you know how to wield it. I knew two of his people Cesar Mancao and John Campos, both very smart and seemingly decent guys, and Michael Ray Aquino, these were deans’ listers in their time.

  80. Sorry Ellen, I’ll follow your format re articles next time.

Trillanes is quite young to be president, he needs to mature a bit. Of course, prison can do that to a man.

  81. Trillanes is much, much mature than many of our more senior politicians.

But you are correct. He is not qualified to run for president in 2010. He would only be 39 in 2010. 40 is the minimum age to run for president.

  82. Ellen:He is headed there but not in 2010.I still want him to be “purified” in character.Mandela stayed in prison for 27 years.Ninoy stayed 8 year in prison.

I don’t want to sound cruel. But great leaders like Ninoy Aquino, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi (Burma) and Nelson Madela (South Africa) were tested and purified when they were unjustly imprisoned for a long ,long time.

11 million Filipinos voted for Trillanes as senator. They have acknowledged his potential as a true,self-sacrificing leader. So different from the other young opposition senators we elected(Escudero,Cayetano,Noynoy)

  83. But if we want somebody who is uncompromising and has not been exposed to the usual wheeling and dealing of traditional politics, Trillanes can be a very good choice. In fact, he’s being isolated now from everyone else (its bad being in prison though) will serve to shield him from being contaminated by trapos, something like being kept in a sterile environment so to speak.

  84. Come to think of it, why are our “noisy” senators like Escudero and Cayetano quiet nowadays? Are they busy making all those bills, etc. as senators are supposed to do? I really hope they are.

  85. What happened ellen? They used “to protect each other” when Gloria was running after them early on to arrest them — can’t remember why.

Anyway, if Lacson ain’t close to HOnasan, I can only guess it’s because Lacson discovered Honazan’s perfidy?

  86. Juggernaut,

Re: “Are they busy making all those bills, etc. as senators are supposed to do? ”

Busy entering into compromises perhaps with the devil?

  87. ADB,

GMA was after them due to alleged complicity in the EDSA 3 if I’m not mistaken.

  88. Right! Now I remember had something to do with their being accused of something to do with bringing down Gloria — yep and both men went into hiding. Enrile too.

    Thanks Juggernaut!

  89. Enrile slept in jail I think. And he thought because he slept in jail, he would become a romantic hero. Hehehe!

  90. The problem with Honasan and Lacson is that they were bred during the Marcos era, this is probably the start of the politisation of the military, a far cry from the “professional soldiers” in the 40’s (when PMA was Quezon’s pet project). The class of ’70s were brought up to believe being the “nations’ heroes” not all too different from “messianic complex.” The values of these two classes contrast each other very sharply, as the later class was more prone to “brutal” means of achieving objectives. Theres a study by Al Macoy (Closer Than Brothers) comparing these two classes and its very interesting, the details are “laser” accurate, even the traditions of the academy and its idiosyncracies were well documented.

  91. Jugg:was this also true during your time ?

  92. ADB,

If you’re into war stories, this book will interest you, it even narrates the battle scenes in the 2WW involving Filipino officers, how they fought together as mistahs, and their experiences in the prison camps (how they kept each other alive). Its like the experience of “shared hardships” in the academy prepared them for a life of being POWs.

  93. Perhaps, the politisation of the military started during the time of Victor Corpuz in PMA; when he allowed Joma’s friends and Joma himself to enter the grounds of the sacrosanct PMA.

This politisation was reinforced when Marcos declared martial law.

Class 71 were so young when Marcos declared martial law, they’d just graduated, so impressionable still — whatever we say, a young man in his early 20s who is given the responsibility over life and death is something very difficult.

It’s like the very young ones who went to Iraq, eg., 18, 19 or 20, terribly young and when they come out of Iraq, they either are disillusioned or they become sold to the idea that might is right.

(I know a young Brit who was only 21 when he served in Iraq, he was given the task of deciding whether another person would live or die, so terrible to give that kind of responsibility in one so young. He came out of Iraq scathed — completely disillusioned…)

  94. Thanks, Juggernaut. I’ll get myself a copy. Could also be a good present for my husband (he’s ex military.)

  95. The following are possible leaders:

    Antonio Meloto:Gawad Kalinga(RM awardee)
Mayor Jesse Robledo:Naga City (RM awardee)
    Gov Panlilio:Pampanga
    Randy David:fearless and articulate journalist
    Adel Tamano
    Senator Trillanes
    Maria Socorro Diokno:FLAG secretary general
    Ricky Carandang:Intelligent ,fearless broadcast journalist

The THREE STOOGES Strikes AGAIN. Kawawang Pinoy Tax Payer.

  97. Yes. Our time was still considered “old school” and still quite brutal, but it was a learning experience. Since then I’ve learned to channel these energies into my work and its been okay so far.
I remember, Honasan and company were hailed as heroes in the academy. I remember during beast barracks (summer camp) when the whole Borromeo field was covered by plebes doing synchronized squat thrusts, a firstie would stop us and yell “do you want to be like Gringo?!” at the top of his voice and the whole plebe battalion would yell back “yes sir!” and continue squat thrusting all through the afternoon.
Being a frustrated writer, I wrote the love letters for my upperclassmen earning me a bit of relaxed treatment, until moving on to writing poems and short stories for the Corps Magazine, and then speeches for them mostly RAM ideologues like “The Failure of this Nation is in Our Hands!” and “we can no longer tolerate incompetence and corruption within our ranks!” among other things.

  98. The Equalizer,

Begging your pardon but when Ducky Paredes brought up the idea of Antonio Meloto for the Senate (I think), I wrote to him and told him, Meloto is doing a fine job in Gawad Kalinga, why take him away from the thing he knows best?

  99. Thanks for the list Equalizer, I really appreciate it. I want to be prepared this time around.

I have to say goodnight guys, the wife is suspects I’m chatting in YM or something already…

    Good night…

  100. Juggernaut,

15 years ago, I remember having a terrible argument with someone from Class 74 about “killing” the Honasan phenomenon; I said looking up to Honasan as if he were god was bad — the man never really served in war. There was nothing he really did that spoke of wisdom and courage. I guess he was more loyal to Enrile than he was to the military.

He was pretty pissed off because he himself (and he was already a lt commander) was still very impressed by Honasan. I told him (my friend) that when he’s no longer impressionable, then he might just become a good officer and leader. (We’re still friends though… hehe!)

  101. Night everyone! Am down with the flu so will hit the sack.

    Cheers.

On Gloria perpetuating herself beyond 2010..what I see is her leaving Malacanan horizontally.

  103. florry florry

Wow! So the “Coalition of the willing” is back to form. It only proved that it’s difficult for birds of the same feather to go on their separate ways. They needed each others corrupted and wicked minds for comfort and survival. Happy days are here again.
JDV at least has his own moments to shine and gave a faint of hope to some people, to somehow make a decision to lead in the slaying of the wicked witch that is Gloria out of the stolen throne, but his true self and character made the better of him and gave in to the call of greed, power and money.
For Gloria, well, we know that she will do everything, anything even if she has to shake heaven and earth just to remain in power.
As for FVR, he is the Philippine biggest thief of all time until Gloria came in, and he was so mad that she grabbed the title from him, but now he is a goner, a pathetic and helpless man and can’t do more anything except to dance to the tune of the Pidals.
And as for Joey, nobody knew the guy until he made those noises. True, he ”terrorized” Gloria and company but the story has no ending yet and who knows he may have wanted more than what was offered. I hope I am wrong but if not then he is nothing but a chip of the old block.
Although part of me believed that Gloria will knock JDV out after killing the impeachment, I also believed that she will keep him for another reason. She loved the brain child of JDV about the cha cha and sometime in the near future they will resurrect it. She knows that this is the only way to escape from her sins against the nation and the people, and the only way to perpetuate her in power till death do her part. I’m not putting too much hope for 2010.

Of all the presidentiables being floated. I think Lacson is the man the Filipinos deserve and the one who can bring the Motherland to greater heights. While I dont know the man personally Im privy to his character through a friend who once served as his secretary when he was with the PNP. She said she was so honest and expect everybody from his office to be so too. The only thing that I think will work against him is his being too self-centered. I think he is one person who is too decisive and will not listen to someone for advise once he made up his mind to a certain issue. The good thing is, he is not a traditional politician who is prone to transactional politics. Sa 2010 kay LACSON TAYO.

  109. parasabayan parasabayan

I heard the same thing about Lacson from people who know him well and even critics at that. Inspite of his status as a Senator, his immediate family are plain simple people. Walang mga mansion or even big businesses. I also had the same feed back on how he treats money. It is all accounted for. The fact that he does not get his pork barrel says it all about this man. Some people say he may too strict being that he came from a military background. But having served in the Senate, now a second time and having been out of the military service for quite sometime now, he may now be well blended with all sorts of people. One thing I know is the fact that he was able to implement the “waist 34” for all his police during his time and he succeeded! He expected all police to be able to run after their suspect! I thought at first that it was a crazy idea but his men complied and everyone lost weight! Maybe we need someone with such discipline to put an end to the corruption that has eaten up our system. Tiyanak’s transactional politics is a product of her lose discipline. She can not impose on her underlings because she herself is the most corrupt leader. If we get someone who has some good values in dealing with money, we will be much ahead of the game. I do not know so much about Binay. All I know is he is doing a great job in running Makati which is the best city in the country. But Binay has had some unexplained acquisitions using dummy names. This disturbs me. But if Lacson runs with him, he may be okay because Lacson may not tolerate his illegal activities. It would be a good match-LACSON and BINAY!

  110. parasabayan parasabayan

Trillianes is a very promising leader but he may two or even three terms from the presidency. He still needs to learn a lot! Let us pick leaders who somehow had some proven track record of leadership!

Knives, it is true that martial law requires a concurrence of Congress. But it shall remain effective for sixty days, during which time, maraming possibilities. There is also the possibility of declaring a revolutionary government, as Cory did in 1986. She abolished the Constitution and governed with both executive and legislative powers.

But just because it had not come to pass, doesn’t mean it will not at some point in the future. We do have it on good authority that Gen. Esperon has several aces up his sleeves, including, but not limited to the killing of more known activists. And he is more desperate than Gloria to remain in power.

All these potential candidates in 2010 are all politically immoral. They are all the same breed and adapt the same motto; the politician’s motto is this: help me get elected, and I’ll help you screw everyone else! These traditional politicians have a tradition of inserting loopholes in the laws they write. The loopholes serve them, serve the big money that buys them, serve the bureaucrats, and serve the news media that sells the loophole stories.

The public pays for all of them, and loses at the end.Incumbent and opposition use anything to knock each other out.The people in our country seems to be divided diametrically between the two in the past: those who love Erap, and those who love to loathe Gloria.

mlm18_corpuz, Are you among those who believe that Erap is the man who is the champion sa masa? Erap knows what string to pull to achieve what he wants, for whom only the end matters. You can not assume that getting majority of people to agree with you, especially now, that he choose to be pardoned,he can’t convince many people to agree with him as possible. In politics is never about getting everyone on your side – it’s about getting a majority of people on your side.

The competitive nature of politics encourages politicians to appeal to the smallest majority that they need to in order to gain power. In a democracy this usually means that any percentage more than 50%; 51%,is enough. This logic in itself does not require anyone to lie.Every politician can choose a majority of supporters and a minority of non-supporters and openly promise to benefit the majority by screwing the minority. But,as it happens,we expect our politicians to be morally upright and to express moral positions that are regarded as morally correct, which means they are expected to state moral positions that are agreed with by at least majority of people in society, because if the number of people in agreement is less than majority then it isn’t a moral position. In short there are some resistance and reluctancy of what you want about people to believe in Erap.

I believe we can’t achieve anything if we keep blaming others, as the electorate we have to take some responsibility that we too are to blame. In fact, the biggest portion of the blame should fall on us, as we are the ones who choose our leaders. What remains to be done is to be intelligently vigilant so that we don’t make the same mistakes over and over again.
The rise and fall of Philippine politics is as much a part of our maturing as a democracy as anything else. We make mistakes, we try again, and again, at least we are more independent now to chart our own destiny as a nation. I think the last thing we should do is to blame ourselves, though I for one did not vote for erap,I can agree that collectively we made a mistake. Erap was the last really elected president, and therefore must carry the cross that he allowed others overtook without being elected. Indeed we must blame our elected politicians for the situation in the pinas.Anyway, it is my opinion.

  136. Estrada was unable to defend his presidency in 2001 simply because he didn’t know how to do it. He was the last duly elected president of the Republic and he didn’t give a damn about it.

I’m personally not for Binay for president thinggy, I’ve already said he should be left in Makati and do his job in Makati but while your view (or mine) of Binay whom I know personally btw (he’s shorter than me), is in stark opposition to those who hold the view that Binay is good, I shall continue to insist that voters are entirely within their right to elect (or to sanction or to reject) whoever they want to elect (or to sanction or to reject), and if by a twist of fate, Binay should become a presidential candidate and should win — provided there’s been no cheating, then so be it… the people will have spoken and their votes must be respected.
