Mar Roxas warming up to reconciliation with GMA for 2010?

Tomorrow, at the historic Club Filipino, Sen. Mar Roxas is expected to be elected president of the Liberal Party, taking over from former Senate President Franklin Drilon.

Roxas is being groomed as the Liberal party’s bet for 2010 in its bid to recapture Malacañang which they have failed to do in the post-Marcos era.

If there would be elections in 2010, we expect the following to run for president: Loren Legarda, Noli de Castro, Manny Villar, Ping Lacson, Mar Roxas, Dick Gordon.

Right now, the mood of the people is opposition. But it is also a known fact that in a presidential election, money and political organization are important factors.

The pardon of Gloria Arroyo of Erap Estrada has given rise to the scenario of an Arroyo-Estrada coalition in 2010. That means the candidate that they would be supporting would be the formidable one.

It’s a given that De Castro and Gordon are Malacanang allies but would they get Estrada’s nod? There have been talks that Legarda and Villar have been courting Gloria Arroyo’s blessing for their 2010 bid. That’s why we don’t see them aggressively hitting Malacañang in the corruption scandals of NBN/ZTE and cash gifts.

Lately, we have also been hearing that Mar Roxas, who had asked for the resignation of Gloria Arroyo in 2005, is willing to align with her to realize his presidential ambition in 2010. The following article in the Inquirer supports that scenario:

Atienza open to reunification with Roxas for 2010 polls

By Vincent Cabreza
Northern Luzon Bureau

Baquio City — Environment Secretary Lito Atienza and fellow members of his faction of the Liberal Party have begun backroom negotiations with former Senate President Franklin Drilon to unify the party behind a single standard bearer for the 2010 presidential election.

Eleazar Quinto, LP director-general, told the Inquirer that Atienza and Drilon resumed talks “only recently.” He said the possibility that the administration coalition’s bet for president may come from LP’s pool of potential candidates.

“The administration (coalition) has not made any announcement yet about their standard bearer…It’s likely they will pick a candidate from our ranks,” he said, speaking in Filipino.

Senator Manuel Roxas II visited the city recently complete with barkers, who entreated traders of the Baguio public market to fall behind a “Roxas for President” campaign.

Roxas had refused to comment about his aspirations.

Atienza and Quinto graced this year’s annual mining safety conference here but they discussed the LP’s possible unification only on Saturday, during a tree-planting event they spearheaded at Camp John Hay.

“It’s been so long since the LP had a President in office. The last President we installed was Diosdado Macapagal,” Quinto said.

The late Macapagal was the father of President Macapagal- Arroyo, who formed the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi) party, which she coalesced with administration party Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats.

Macapagal became President in 1961, after winning the campaign using an anti-graft platform.

An LP member based in Baguio said Roxas is also being eyed as opposition standard bearer because of the party fracas that split it between Atienza, who supports Arroyo, and Drilon, who has been critical of her administration.

Both Atienza and Quinto said the 2010 presidential elections have become a “good opportunity” for the LP to recover its political dominance.

Good feedback from Roxas’s provincial visits has encouraged the LP factions to talk, Quinto said.

“Our members do not want to lose this chance so they are exerting every effort…That’s why this issue of our rift should be addressed,” he said.

“In the first place, what is the LP’s position regarding this administration?…Unless we agree, we can’t unite because we have no firm foundation,” he added.

It appears all saints want a piece of the apple from the devil. Thats a naturalle in Philippine politics. Money will drown everyone next election time, snap or otherwise.

What happened to the Liberal party, Drilon Wing, that includes Mar Roxas call for GMA to resign because she cheated in the 2004 elections. Walang prinsipyo din pala itong si Mar. Walang pinagkaiba sa mga trapo.

    Arroyo-Estrada coalition in 2010? I don’t think so. That’s quite a long shot.

It’s true money and organization are important in a national election especially for presidential candidates but it was proven time and again that it’s not that undefeatable. Just think about what happened to Ramon Mitra and Joe de Venecia. The former was the standard bearer of LDP, a big party with money and a nationwide organization. Joe de Venecia the bearer of Lakas, a party of FVR just as big as the LDP. Both of them suffered crushing defeats from the hands of smaller organizations. What tilt the balance in favor of any candidate is their credibility, and the mood of the people.

I am not that surprised if Roxas, Villar and Legarda are entertaining some thoughts of reconciling with Gloria and hoping to be anointed as her candidates come 2010. They were not oppositionists in the first place and they know that they have no place in a crowded opposition slate. An endorsement from Gloria is a kiss of death, and it’s not a small wonder why some still wants to be associated and endorsed by her. Is it because of the endless flow of money and her organizations? Or is it because she still has her sidekick Assperon and her Comollect aka Commission of Cheaters who can manipulate and cheat for them ala “Hello Garci”? And thereafter, what can the people do about it?
What about Gloria fielding her Fatso as Kampi’s standard bearer in 2010? She will also tell him to roundup all the other candidates and command them to BACK-OFF, and he will be a sure winner.

    Ellen says:
If there would be elections in 2010 …
    ——–
The operative word is IF. Gloria may have to be yanked out into the streets so there will be elections in 2010. I don’t think gloria will exit the palace voluntarily. I hope I am wrong.

There’s a very real possibility that in free election in 2010, Filipino would elect Pulido and Lozano Politically, we live in a democracy that barely deserves the name. Our government lectures others on how to run elections, yet most of our own citizens don’t vote. Abdication of this basic civic responsibility may be rooted partly in the complacency that affluence can breed, but surely another cause is the alienation many Filipino feel from a political system they correctly perceive as captive to the rich and powerful.

It is also wrong if the vote goes to Noli de Castro he had traveled abroad only three times courtesy of PAL.He never shook hands with Bush and chat with Hilary. Whatever his other qualities as Arroyo’s spare tire, only 2 percent of Filipinos own house in Payatas You can all ask Noli that our country, the dominant institutions are run by elites whose views do not necessarily coincide with those of the general public. In fact, the gap between elites and its masses has been growing over as economic inequality intensifies, the wealthy and well-connected increasingly control the political process, and once Noli was proud to be a constitutional successor, and is gobbled up by giant promised whose only allegiance is to profits.

The biggest political joke in our country is that we have a midget president. It’s a joke taken seriously by a surprisingly large number of people, including the nation’s sizable right-wing minority and left-wing majority. Are we going to be entertain by another joke?

For any presidential election aspirant who will align with the tiyanak in 2010 (if she will even let go of her stolen throne) might as well kiss his/her political career goodbye! I am not seeing Mar Roxas as a very strong candidate and his reconciliation with the tiyanak will only mean one thing, “campaign money” to be flowing like honey for the tiyanak’s candidate (if there will even be anyone)!

Villar is a chameleon who takes the color of the host. Loren(too associated with the double faced Angara and may actually be a mole in the opposition’s slate)has a very dubious allegiance as well. Noli will be the next to the last candidate I would vote for(the last being the tiyanak granting she is even on my list!)!

Maybe if anyone of the above names being floated will pair off with a more decisive and credible presidential candidate, one of them may win. But running solo for the presidency, I can not see any of them winning at all! Although,it is still too early to tell. The way these prospective presidential candidates are acting so far, none of them have the guts to put an end to the tiyanak’s evil ways.

Judging from the May 2007 elections, the people are tired of the excessive corruption and lack of governance by the tiyanak. Whoever pursues the issues of making the tiyanak accountable for all her crimes while in office will win the hearts of the Filipinos and will be given the mandate- that is if there is even that “someone” who will run in 2010. With the tiyanak in control of the “kumolek”, a repeat of the 2004 election cheating is almost for certain in 2010! The 2010 elections may even be worse because now most of the “kumolek komisyoners” are the tiyanak’s appointees.

  7. Already it seems that there are plenty of opinions of whom not to vote into office (if given the chance) but with most names floated with skeletons in the closet, also access to funds seems also to be more important than the candidate credentials seeking this highest office in the land.
The country deserves someone like Sonny Trillanes (who unfortunately is too young) but for goodness sake we must find someone similar to him, honest, straightforward and determined to correct the many past mistakes.
What a breath of fresh air it would be to find someone like Trillanes to lead this country out of its nightmare.

  8. Any election that can happen within the existing framework is for the benefit of the Elite only. None of those mentioned above are for the masa, in spirit and in deed.

    The rest are far worst.

On the other hand, Trillanes must strengthened his Magdalo Party with men of integrity, vision, and know-how that are willing to run even without the so called “machinery”.

He may not be able to run today, but he can surely support somebody whom he consider worthy of our trust.

The other alternative is system change so we can put a Trillanes in the presidency.

  11. Imagine,if the presidential polls were held today, who would you vote for?(vote in the NEW poll on my blog)

(From their official resumes;in alphabethical order)

Vice President Noli De Castro:He is a “Working Vice President” , working on various tasks as: 1.) Alternate Chairman of the National Anti-Poverty Commission; 2.) Presidential Adviser for Overseas Filipino Workers; 3.) Chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC)

Senator Jinggoy Estrada : the eldest son of former President Joseph Estrada and Luisa Pimentel-Ejercito Estrada, it is not surprising that like his parents, the Filipino masses have a special place in his heart .

Senator Dick Gordon: best known for overcoming great odds in the Philippines. In the 2004 national elections when he ran as senator of the Philippines, he received the fifth highest number of votes from the electorate even without sectoral and religious command vote support.

Senator Ping Lacson:Filipinos came to know him for his sterling and “no nonsense” leadership as Chief of the Philippine National Police.

Senator Loren Legarda:She is the only woman in history who has topped the Senate race twice, once in 1998 with over 15 million votes and in 2007 with over 18 million votes.

Senator Mar Roxas: the son of the illustrious Senator Gerry Roxas, and the grandson of the venerable President Manuel Roxas whose public service careers have greatly benefited the country. He is the new President of the Liberal Party.

Senate President Manny Villar : the first post-war public official who became both Speaker of the House of Representatives and Senate President. He is the President of the Nacionalista Party.l party.

  13. mrivera:Senator Trillanes is one promising leader whose leadership character is being purified in prison(like Nelson Mandela). But in 2010,he will not be yet be qualified for age reasons.

    “Trillanes in the presidency”

In my humble opinion, the last thing the Philippines need is a delusional leader. You want Trillanes to lead maybe not because you believe he is a capable president but only a great revolutionist or propagandist and the one who can carry out revenge against the president that you hate…Ni hindi pa nga niya mapatunayan ang mga paratang niya hangang ngayun….what happened to his glorietta theory? We should not compromise the future of our country for our personal vendetta.

Sinasabi natin lahat that we hate GMA because she is a liar and unjust,..but let me introduce another scenario, I bet many of you only think that way because even before the moment she took that position, you already despised her. Your feeling of scorn and loathing may have rooted not from the fact that she is a lousy leader from the start but mostly because you have another bet in mind. Maybe you were a loyal fan of poe, of erap et al….yan ba ang may respeto sa batas?

we need a better standard in choosing our next leader.

  18. To all anti-corruption in this blog, I suggest you get a real good virus buster and internet security. You can be a victim of these crooks working for the creeps running the Philippine government now like hell!!!

Speaking of presidentiables, katulad ng nabanggit ni Ate Ellen,I think the best bet for 2010 is Dick Gordon!Kung si Erap ay naging presidente dahil sa performance niya sa San Juan and as senator pwede din natin tingnan ang performance niya as a Mayor, a senator .Wala sa kalingkingan ni Gordon ang mga nagawa niya.Look,in 1992, he led the succesful conversion of the former US naval facility in Subic Bay.He turned it into the Philippine’s primary trade zone. And as the chairman of SBMA.(Senator Richard “Dick” Gordon Bio)

Mars Roxas is Mr. Palengke? Did he really help with the control of prices that helped in the economy even just for a short time? Other than the palengkes in Metro Manila, particularly around the area of Cubao, has he visited the palengkes in the provinces? Other than being the grandson of Pres. Roxas, and the son of Sen. Gerry Roxas, what were his qualifications that made him Pres. of the Liberal party? Roxas- his press secretary at the time was my Lolo Juan C. Orendain..but at a young age it didn’t mean a thing to me.. The next thing I heard was he died…April 15 while delivering a speech..his death didn’t mean much to me then but now what I can say is “ay ay kalisud, kalisud sining binayaan”. He served for just a short time..I don’t think he finished a term of four years.

  23. rose rose

duren: what are your standards for a good leader?..pray do tell, so we may learn from you. I get the impression na malaki ang pagayaw mo sa leadership ni Trillanes…thus far he has not been allowed to serve..given the chance he probably can prove his leadership…given a chance…given a break…he might just be the good leader that we need..at sa tingin ko malaki ang inis mo sa kanya..bakit? Do you have “evidences” to prove he is not capable of being a good leader..Oakwood Mutiny? it failed because he trusted the people who negotiated…Trusted..his Chief of Staff..Cimatu was it not..Being young and a good soldier…trusted..Borrowing your words..”may ebidensiya ka ba?” Pray show us..Thank you for whatever enlihtment you can give us regarding Trillanes…

ate rose, i have mentioned my standards few times before…i think you would have not missed it if you were reading other than pro-trillanes comments…and please do not play excuse Trillanes can not serve because he is in jail, with his media friends running around him in frenzy, he has every tools in his disposal to be even more annoying and noisy….just like the glorieta theory crap he made.

duren: I suppose I missed the standards you posted. I still think though, that while Trillanes has a lot of media friends running around for him..I still believe that doing things yourself is the better way. Have you heard of the saying “if you want things to be done right you have to do it yourself?” Kasi yon ang turo sa amin..many moons ago..iba na nga seguro..high tech! pero sa high tech..may sinasabi na “garbage in, garbage out”. Having people do things for you, just what the administration seems to do, is not really the best way.. oh well…times have changed..

I totally dis-agree with ztan_47. If Gordon becomes president, corruption will continue. Look at his records, may kaso pa nga si Gordon sa PAGC due to curruption nuong chairman pa sya ng SBMA. Millions of dollars left by the americans to clean up subic bay went to his pockets.
And did he say anything about the hello garci? A simple public opinion againts the president will suffice, that what GMA did was wrong. At least malaman natin ang stand nya, na presidente ka man o hindi, basta mali ang ginawa mo, you should say something, hindi yung tahimik ka lang porke kampi ka ni GMA.

Oo, magaling sya, he is smart but he is also currupt.
Yes, vote 4 him if u want corruption 2 continue. Vote for Dick Gordon.

  29. Yup, Filipinos should look for new people to run their government. They should stop voting for these trapos, and descendants of crooks who had helped run their country like hell. No to Roxas, Gordon, et al!!!

  30. Now, two more outstanding persons have been mentioned here as possible candadates, Adel Tamano & Harry Roque who maybe capable of putting this country back on its feet with the discipline and determination required. Let us remember that Trillanes got 11M plus votes from the masa with no big funding – meaning money is not everything but mainly the personality who is honest and straightforward.
What do we know of them? except that they are honest not trapos.

Here we go again fresh from picking Senators, and now we’re starting to pick for President and Vice Pres. as if it really going to matter. It says it all “we-will-never-learn.” Thanks for the use of the name. BTW, what those elected opposition Senators are doing to make the different? Are they just wasting time and money? Most especially when bogus Gloria Arroyo is making fools of them Senators. And, bogus Gloria surely making a mockery of the Senate, so it seems. “Gov. Ed “Among” Panlilio for Vice President.” Panlilio took the brown bag (P500,000) when he attended the bogus Gloria’s umagahan, and as far as I know he still got the money in his possesion. Panlilio believe the money is not a bribe. How about that? But, he can’t explain where the money came from and what the money is for, however he’ll put it for good use. Ain’t incredible? For Vice President?

  47. tayerevo tayerevo

“I believe, at present the priorities has been misplaced, instead of picking for new President, we should find a way to jail bogus Gloria for her crimes against the people of the Philippines.” – Toney C

Agree. Jockeying for presidential nomination is a wasteful attempt to perpetuate a rotten disgusting anomaly.

  48. Toney Cuevas Toney Cuevas

If Dick Gordon as a Senator are not doing anything to prosecute bogus Gloria why would you trust him to run the highest office of the land? Why is he mute about the brown bags given out in Malacanang? As a Senator, won’t he be at least most curious if the money belong to the people being plundered by bogus Gloria. Surely, bogus is guilty of the crime since it was in Malacanang and she has the knowledge of the brown bags. Or else, she’d start prosecuting those responsible for the brown bags, and she didn’t do squat.

  49. Toney Cuevas Toney Cuevas

If the Senators are serious to find out the truth about ZTE-NBN, Hello Garci, Northrail, et al. They, the Senators should stop inviting witnesses, instead subpoena to appear in the hearings, and if they, the witness, failed to attend, they, the Senators should order a warrant to arrest those failed to attend. Let them rot in jail. It’s the only to treat those making a mockery of the institution and gain respect.

Since the Pidals own Clark Field and Subic Bay and Gordon pocketed the money that the Americans left for cleaning, Mar Roxas? that would be a dynasty all over again. Father Villanueva sounds okay as long as he does not send the money of the Filipinos to the Pope in Rome. John Bertrand- Aristead was a priest leader of Haiti before. From what I read he did not do well. One would think both countries came from the same pea pod.

  51. Toney Cuevas Toney Cuevas

It amazes me that million of pesos were given out in brown bags, in cash, (no notes of how the money going to be used) to the congressmen, governors and mayors in Malacanang, the House of the People, yet no one knows where the money came from. Ain’t amazing? And, what’s more amazing, bogus Gloria is not even accountable, most especially when the money were given out under her nose. Ain’t bogus Gloria is something else? Mayroon kang P200… dito! How can this just swept under the rug as if nothing has happened? We all know, as citizens, something criminally did happened, with undeniable evidence. But, why no one is being prosecuted?

If Roxas wins, who will be our first lady?
Toney, the problem is, the tiyanak has mastered the art of bribing and corruption. All the players are given “something” somehow so no one talks. See what happened to Fr Ed Panlilio and the others who admitted they got some “bounty”? Ombudsman (under the tuta Mercedita) slapped them will cases. See what happened to Doble( the lone witness to the wiretapping of the “Hello Garci”)? He now has a case on illegal tapping. Take the case of the World Bank issue. The bank hesitates to lend us more money. Tiyanak and her men’s defense is, “it is the fault of the World Bank because of their lending practices and guidelines”. Look at the pattern here! Tiyanak’s expertise is twisting the facts and issues so she wins! Besides she is too protected by the so-called “Executive Priviledge”! So, even if she steals all our money, sends all our people into the grave due to poverty and lawlessness, sends almost all our professionals to other countries so their $, pounds, euros etc…would be used to fuel her “enchanted kingdom”-the tongressmen and senatongs and our justices have such a tough time penetrating her “shield”. Already caught red handed several times, the tiyanak still manages to get away with her crimes. She has outsmarted everyone! I am just wondering if she already sold her soul to the devil!

  55. parasabayan parasabayan

Instead of trying to change our Constitution, maybe we should look into tthe “powers” of our president and other elected officials and amend the provisions that give them too much protection to a point that the word “accountability” is missing!

  56. parasabayan parasabayan

Dsaint, I do not think a priest with so much virtues can lead our country at this time. We have criminals and vultures in power and a meek leader will not work! We need a very strong and visual president. We need someone who sets the rules and not someone who is beholden to the rules imposed upon him/her because of so many prior indebtedness to political patrons. We need someone who has the vision to change the course of our destiny as we are now virtually at ground zero or maybe even burried under. We need a moral upright leader and not someone who is plagued with wrong doings left and right. We need a leader with resolve and not someone who will give in to the slightest pressure because of self preservation. We need a leader who analyses the problems we have and implements programs to solve them and not take advantage of these programs to pocket more money from the projects. We need a leader who is transparent in all his/her dealings and explains to the people the purpose of all his/her actions. Hiding transactions from the people only shows that there are irregularities occuring.

  57. Valdemar Valdemar

So its Ed Panlillio then. He revealed his mettle early and everyone is becoming afraid of him so they started the demolition job with the “bribe”. Trillanes cant even set foot at the senate building. The people wont want dynasties. Ed does not even have a wife or a woman to start with a dynasty. But Villanueva and family are to build one. All the rest have not only skeletons in their closets. We have 95% catholics, a few Iglesias and muslims and all will surely vote properly this time.

  58. dsaint2020 dsaint2020

    parasabayan,

I beg to disagree with your opinion about leaders with integrity and good virtues. You can check the track record of Bro. Eddie Villanueva as a servant leader of JIL. Ganoon din si Gov. Ed Panlilio.

Leaders with good virtues, character and integrity will also safeguard us and our country from dictatorship.

  59. parasabayan parasabayan

Dsaint2020, integrity and virtues certainly are needed in leadership but our country has to be rehabilitated from the ravaging of prior presidents. We almost need a superwoman and a superman to pick up the pieces. We need a president with a tougher character!

  60. parasabayan parasabayan

Did you read in the papers lately that Fr Panlilio’s mayors are not even attending the meetings called by the governor? Let us see if the Father Governor can be tough!

  71. Interesting initial results of the poll on presidentiables 2010

  72. Whatever mode he/she might assume such position, these are some of my criteria in choosing a leader. He shall move for:

    1. For Foreign Debt Payment moratorium, and trashing out automatic payment allocation thereof;
    2. Send home all foreign military forces;
    3. Total Log Ban, no exemptions;
    4. Total Ban on Oil Importation, and instead use proven WaterFuel Technologies;
    5. Full Automated Electoral System, from registration to proclamation;
    6. Free Distance Learning thru public TV networks, and Postal Service;
    6. Print Money for Domestic Reconstructions, instead of borrowing from outside sources or local banks.

Before i have read Origins of Modern Banking, i’d always laugh at someone who would say “Why not print more money?”, everytime we tried to explore for solutions to our nagging poverty in the midst of bloating foreign debt. I really thought this is not possible somehow. But don’t you know this had been done before?

This is not inflationary when applied to tangible infrastructures like air/sea ports, roads, school buildings & hospitals, etc. as these generates income.

If those criteria are not “visible” from a given candidate, I would rather stay home and eat camote while waiting for the Revolution.

    Good luck, everyone!

  73. Here’s some text from it…

Government officials met with the financiers to negotiate the loans they needed. King William was £20 million in debt and he could not pay his army. Apparently it did not occur to William or anyone that if William needed to pay his army or get the economy going, all he had to do was have the government print its own money and use that to pay the troops -something that Abraham Lincoln would do successfully during the American Civil war nearly two hundred years later!

It takes great amount of courage to confront these bankers head-on. I don’t think Roxas or any of the aforementioned presidentiables have it.

Only the likes of Butch Valdez and HTLaurel are very vocal about it, but are they popular enough to tickle your votes?

Another long shot. Don’t even know them. I have yet to watch them being interviewed in our local Mainstream Media. Why?

Self-destructive to the Elite who owns them [media outlets].

That’s why even if we give another 100 years for this system to work, I don’t think things would go any better.

  74. florry florry

Just wondering how politically correct are these people who seems not to have any qualms in bashing and faulting the people in electing their leaders. Maybe they have to be reminded that during elections the electorate has a very limited choice. They only have to choose among those who presented themselves as candidates nothing more, nothing less. They can not just vote for any Juan or Pedro or anybody even if they know how good they are. They are just exercising their right to choose, and whoever they vote for that’s whom they believe as the lesser evil.
Trillanes election as a senator, I don’t agree that it’s a waste. Proof that voters are intelligent enough than for them to give the seat to a Lozano and his ilk. Resign? That’s rediculous. He is not a cheater, he won fair and square, why not address it to Gloria? And it’s not his fault why he can’t attend to his duties. Blame Assperon, the judge, the jury and executioner.
Unseating Gloria? Maybe you can think and think of how until there’s only a hair standing on your top but unless her military withdraw support from her, we have to admit it, we needed a miracle.

  75. “Whoever controls the volume of money in any country is absolute master of all industry and commerce. And when we realize that the entire system is very easily controlled, one way or another, by a few very powerful men at the top, you will not have to be told how periods of inflation and depression originate.” – U.S. President James Garfield

A few weeks after making this statement, he was assassinated on July 12, 1818.

  78. but let me introduce another scenario, I bet many of you only think that way because even before the moment she took that position, you already despised her. – duren

At least for me, this statement does not apply.

When Aling Gloria assumed the presidency in 2001, I thought she would be, at least, a good president.

When she promised, before the national hero’s grave, that she would sacrifice her personal ambition and would not seek the presidency in 2004, I thought she would be, at least, a righteous leader worthy of the nation’s trust.

When she threw her lot in for the 2004 presidential derby, I began to doubt.

When Samuel Ong disclosed the contents of the “Hello Garci” tapes in 2005, I still gave her the benefit of the doubt.

When, through her henchmen, she denied the veracity of the scandalous tapes, my doubts grew.

When she apologized for talking to a COMELEC official, I no longer entertained doubts- for certain, she lied, and she cheated.

When, in 2006, I finally got to read Nick Joaquin’s 2001 interview with Mike Arroyo, I felt personally cheated in 2001.

When scandals started surfacing one after the other like wild mushrooms on dead tree trunks during the August rains, I have lost the capacity to doubt. I am sure, she has her hands full of them.

Aling Gloria has wronged the nation and the people who, even initially, entrusted their future to her.

I grew up thinking that patience is one of my strongest suits. I concede now, Duren. Your patience is stronger than mine.
