  2. chi chi

Rigodon de Pwechay! Go ahead, implement the rigodon. At least the unano knows how few are her loyals na kailangan pang korapin!

  3. balweg balweg

    Hi Luz & Chi,

  4. balweg balweg

Were you joking, Balweg! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Puputi ang uwak, iitim ang tagak but Gloria won’t make a sacrifice of stepping down for the sake of Pinas and pinoys. E di mapa-plunder s’ya!

    Hi Chi,

Kaya kapit-sa-patalim?

  8. balweg balweg

    Hi Hawaiianguy,

Di ba may foot and mouth disease yang pigs na tinutukoy mo, kaya pala grabe kung makahawa.

Sang-ayon sa wikipedia eh, “is a highly contagious and sometimes fatal viral disease of cattle and pigs. Humans can be infected with foot-and-mouth disease through contact with infected pigs.”

I like this phrase better: “Rigodon ng mga BABOY, BUWITRE, BUWAYA at iba pang salot sa Lipunang Pinoy.”

Bakit di na lang gawing presidential special adviser on retirement?

  11. balweg balweg

    hawwaiianguy,

We need the best medicine to exterminate all these salot ng lipunan as you mentioned above.

N29 is available now in the pharmacy. How about Ellenville ampoules? I think this is one of the best antidote now available in the IT media. Available globally and it is easy to react and response.

    Good day to you.

  12. hawaiianguy hawaiianguy

Good idea.

Balweg: “We need the best medicine to exterminate all these salot.” We’d better give them a dose of their own medicine. Ipakain sa tulad nlang baboy at buwaya.

  15. balweg balweg

    hawaiianguy,

Another David vs. Goliath match – P100M copyright infringement suit filed by Southeastern College vs. Microsoft

The old, virtually nondescript school down our street has taken to court the behemoth Microsoft for reproducing the school’s copyrighted teaching manual for Windows XP and distributing CDs bearing Microsoft’s copyright and trade mark to provincial schools without Southeastern College’s approval.

This will test Microsoft’s corporate credibility in its all-out fight against software piracy, which it now violates.

I hope justice will be done for this small and barely surviving institution that is now a victim of a bully who does not practice what he preaches.

Good luck to my friends at SEC.

A certain mr. jojo rosales, losing candidate as councillor or its equivalent in his home province, is now working at the office of the vice president since june or july months after the election. according to information, mr. rosales’ wife is the one employed (if officially employed) by noli boy, but it is mr. rosales who is doing the job supposedly for the wife of mr. rosales, information is that the wife of mr. rosales is not even seen at OVP. if that is not a violation, then I dont know how it is called.

Ms. ellen, dont you think its worth loking at???

If you think that violations are being done only at the stinking placce, then better take a look at this violation being done also by noli boy.

another thing, maybe its about time that you can have someone check the violation by the people at HUDCC and other housing agencies. some low cost housing is being rented to people by unscrupulous people at these housing agencies.

Very consistent and kanyang position at banat sa GMA administration.

One thing good if you’re a loyal dog of GMA. She will reward you with anything as long as you continue to kiss her ass. Isa pa iyan si dating Cong. Putsay. On risk to journalists, at least there seems to be a slight improvement from RP’s 2nd rank (next to Afghanistan). From another independent source, the Committee to Protect Journalists, RP also ranks 5th in the world, with Iraq on the topmost list.

I like the CPJ report, it’s more detailed and looks more accurate than other databases. CPJ is a global watchdog based in New York. (http://www.cpj.org/deadly/)

What worries me is, that the Philippines’s record (32 journalists confirmed killed since 1992) is worse than those countries which are somewhat less democratic (if not completely authoritarian), such as India (22), Somalia (20), Bosnia (19), Turkey (19), Rwanda (16), Sierra Leone (16), Tajikistan (16), Afghanistan (16).

Yes, we beat Afghanistan, Bosnia, India and many African countries whose human rights records are known to be dismal. We should not be proclaiming to the world that ours is a democratic country. What a contradiction in terms!

  50. hawaiianguy hawaiianguy

(cont’d) In 2006, RP ranked second to Iraq (RP tied with Afghanistan) and outsmarted authoritarian regimes like Russia, Pakistan and Colombia.

“Although the Philippines has one of the freest presses in Asia, the country was the deadliest in the region for journalists for the second consecutive year. Eight journalists—primarily rural radio broadcasters—were gunned down in retaliation for their work in 2004. (Five reporters died in the line of duty in 2003, according to CPJ research.) Worldwide, the media casualty rate in the Philippines was second only to Iraq.” CPJ (2004 report)

“Although the Philippines has one of the freest presses in Asia, the country was the deadliest in the region for journalists for the second consecutive year.” – hawaiianguy
    —————–
Freest press – anybody can criticize the President from pandak to baboy and still live the next day.

Deadliest – try to criticize the local politicians and see what happens. Let us see samples in 2004.
    —————–
Rowell Endrinal in the eastern Albay Province hosted a political commentary program on DZRC radio, published the regional newspaper Bicol Metro News, and was known for his criticism of corrupt local officials. He was killed by gunmen on his way to work in February 2004.
    —————–
Elpidio Binoya, another radio commentator who frequently delivered pointed political commentaries on Radyo Natin, was ambushed on the southern island of Mindanao in June 2004. Binoya had been beaten a week before the murder, and a local police chief told The Associated Press that the journalist had enemies among local politicians. Two suspects in Binoya’s murder surrendered to police in August; one was a political leader suspected of masterminding the killing.
    —————–
Roger Mariano, a radio commentator from the northern Ilocos Norte Province, was shot in the head while driving home on July 31, 2004. Local journalists said Mariano’s murder came in retaliation for his aggressive journalism, and that he had denounced illegal gambling in his final broadcast.
    —————–
Five days later, Arnnel Manalo—a correspondent for the Manila-based tabloid Bulgar and the local radio station DZRH—was killed on his way home by gunmen allegedly hired by a local politician in Batangas Province, 60 miles (96 kilometers) south of the capital, Manila. Two suspects were identified in the Manalo slaying; a local politician was implicated in that case, too
    —————–
Tabloid correspondent Romeo, or Romy, Binungcal was killed by gunmen who fired five shots at him at close range in Bataan Province on September 29, 2004. He was known for his reporting on local corrupt officials.
    —————–
A radio commentator who frequently spoke out against illegal gambling and the local drug trade, Eldy Sablas, was shot dead October 19, 2004.
    —————–
An unidentified gunman shot photographer Gene Boyd Lumawag, of the MindaNews news service, in the head while he was on assignment in Jolo, the capital of the southern Sulu Province, on November 12, 2004.
    —————–
The next day, radio commentator Herson Hinolan was gunned down in the restroom of a local store in Kalibo, in the central Panay Island.

    Breaking News!!!
    Betsy Powell
    Staff Reporter, Toronto Star
Police have arrested a labourer from Ecuador in the killing of a Mississauga housekeeper this fall.
Cristian Figueroa, 35, appeared in a Brampton court today charged with first-degree murder. He was remanded in custody until Jan. 23.

Jocelyn Dulnuan was found dead in her living quarters at a mansion on Doulton Place on Oct. 1.

Dulnuan, 27, came to Canada in November 2006, seeking work to support her fiancé and child in the Philippines.

She had told friends that she feared for her safety at the large estate, where she’d worked since June.

Peel police Insp. Norm English said Dulnuan had been forcibly confined during a robbery, in which cash and jewelry were taken from the home.

Police have never revealed exactly how she died.
English said he called Dulnuan’s mother in Hong Kong last night to tell her about the arrest, “and my only regret is that I was not able to deliver that message in person.”

Figueroa is originally from Ecuador but had been living in Toronto. He was planning to leave for South America in a few days, English said.

    More arrests are expected.

    Rhetorics, lies, and more lies!

No wonder the Philippines is at the center of global watch for extrajudicial killings (of journalists and activists). Read this:

“Executive Director Joel Simon announced CPJ’s global campaign against impunity, which seeks to bring the killers of journalists to justice. Ellen, I tried posting twice – both were “moderated.” Sorry for the installment…

  58. hawaiianguy hawaiianguy

Dodong, thanks for the 2004 data on local journalists killed.

Only confirms that Gloria is very good at saying her favorite line: “I’m DETERMINED to punish the killers of these journalists…. We are the MOST DEMOCRATIC country in Asia.”

    Rhetorics, lies, and more lies!

  59. hawaiianguy hawaiianguy

No wonder the Philippines is at the center of global watch for extrajudicial killings (of journalists and activists). Read this:

“Executive Director Joel Simon announced CPJ’s global campaign against impunity, which seeks to bring the killers of journalists to justice. The effort will focus initially on the Philippines and Russia…” Nov 20, 2007, International Press Freedom Awards, of Committee to Protect Journalists, NY. (http://www.cpj.org/deadly/killed07.html)

A leader who is helpless doing good for the country but is in full command helping herself and her cabals in doing good for themselves, has no reason to stay in office. Not even for a minute.

“I’m DETERMINED to punish the killers of these journalists”

Only if there is evidence in court. Since the killings were done by local policemen paid by local politicians, there is little or no evidence at all.

Here is what late Sen Blas Ople said regarding the noisy media in a November 1997 column for the Manila Bulletin

“that journalists in Metro Manila are exposed to fewer risks because the capital region enjoys the “modern infrastructure of law and order consisting of courts, civic associations, an alert public and otherwise, a critical mass of support groups for the exercise of civil liberties that POLITICAL WARLORDS, however powerful, may not trifle with.”

That most of the journalist victims come from the provinces—and provincial broadcast stations. The enforcement of law is weakest in the provinces where the policemen are under control of local politicians.

  63. hawaiianguy hawaiianguy

Dodong, “Only if there is evidence in court…” That’s the problem with being legalistic. It doesn’t mean that no crime was committed because of lack of evidence.

Same thing with “there’s evidence, but planted” – courtesy of the police.

“The enforcement of law is weakest in the provinces where the policemen are under control of local politicians.”

I agree with you. In any case, a leader who cannot enforce the law at the local level is inutile.

  65. d0d0ng d0d0ng

Even back in 1997, Ople ruminated on the irony of Asia’s “FREE-EST” press topping the murders list.

“This is certainly puzzling unless we examine the phenomenon against the broader backdrop of a DEEPLY ENTRENCHED FEUDAL POLITCIAL CULTURE in the countryside where political warlords affect the styles and the beliefs of a regional or local royalty who perceive criticisms of their policies, actions or shortcomings as ‘lese majeste’.”

“The late senator pointed out that in ancient times “lese majeste” or crimes against the ruling royal brought punishment or death.”

“He said the high casualty rate of Filipino journalists “simply means that the modernizing culture of democracy, centered in the freedom of speech and of the press, clashes in a mortal battle against the ENTRENCHED RULE OF WARLORDS who fancy themselves as kings of their own domains and, therefore, above criticism.” -BLAS OPLE

“I agree with you. In any case, a leader who cannot enforce the law at the local level is inutile.”

That has been the case since Marcos up to Gloria if you take note of Sen Blas Ople opinion. After Gloria, that still will be the case in the provinces with ENTRENCHED RULE OF WARLORDS.

Hawaiianguy, can you tell us from what province are you and how the local political family dominated the politics in your the province? What is the influence of the president in rule of law in your province?

no eyewitness, took the Peel Region Police 11 weeks to make an arrest, with sometimes 24 homocides detectives working around the clock, vacations and leave cancelled and a promised by the Homicide Inspector to the victim’s mothter the her case will be look like any other just as important, the case of Murdered Filipina Housemaid Jocelyn Dulnuan today comes closer to resolution with the arrest of a 35 year old suspect for First Degree Murder and more arrests are expected.. my post above under moderation will give more details or you can go to torstar.com

“It doesn’t mean that no crime was committed because of lack of evidence.” – Hawaiianguy.

With a dead journalist, crime is already committed. But since justice has the primacy of innocence (instead of guilty) then the wheel of justice is frustratingly slow to bring the guilty party.

  69. d0d0ng d0d0ng

“the reason GMA is unfazed by all this negative publicity about her is that she is not running in 2010” -juggernaut.

That is correct. You change the person but the political infrastructure is the same. Certainly, the country will have the same political ills. Wika ni Rizal, cancer.

  70. vic vic

thanks Ellen, my comments up is already out of moderation and there are appropriate links for details and updates to those who maybe interested in the case of Jocelyn Dulnuan and how the Canadian Police dedicates their efforts and some sacrificed their personal time such as vacation leave to look after a case that shocked not only the Filipino Community, but the whole city of Mississauga. And how the Media cooperated with the Police by refraining from speculations in order not to give the suspects some hints that they may know and escape before the police can gather enough evidence through their painstaking investigation. That even now, the police would not reveal the details of cause of death so as not to compromise further arrests and investigation…

“the wheel of justice is frustratingly slow to bring the guilty party”.

Yes, it’s the real world-the rotten justice system in the Philippines. Kapag nasa kapangyarihan at may pera walang kaso. May nakulong bang kaalyado ni Gloria Arroyo?

  72. d0d0ng d0d0ng

“May nakulong bang kaalyado ni Gloria Arroyo?”- Diego K

Not even Marcoses….same breed…. nobody is saint…. After Gloria, welcome the next one…..

  73. Vic:
I’m interested to know if that Peel Region Police is named after Sir Robert Peel the founder of the London Police..

    Hi d0d0ng,

RE: “I’m DETERMINED to punish the killers of these journalists”?

  75. vic vic

    wwnl,
the Peel Region Probably. Actually the Peel Region(hence the Peel Region Police Force) is a group of Municipalities southwest of Toronto who group themselves to have a common services like Fire, Police and Other municipal services as one Municipal is too small to afford one of its own. the Bigger cities that compose the Peel Region are Mississauga, Brampton, oakville and there are few other smaller towns. Toronto used to be a Region of Six Cities, but decided to merge into one (formerly known as Metro Toronto region) and now only known as Toronto, but most residents of those cities retained the name like mine, Scarborough..and most names are from Notable British Personalities…

  76. d0d0ng d0d0ng

The court is not the problem. The police under the local government who is tasked to pursue evidence for the fiscal to prosecute the case simply stalled the wheel of justice. Walang ebidensya.

– balweg

Who is giving control of police under local government (warlords)or who designed the local government code? It is the family dynasties (entrenched local politicians) that control congress giving Arroyo or any president the protection from impeachment.

  77. hawaiianguy hawaiianguy

Dodong, to say that local governments/local police have been doing all these venalities is to admit that things have become natural and that no president can do something about them.

These ills become more rampant, if a president is only concerned with her own turf. Just to survive crisis after crisis that hounds her decadent administration. I don’t see any justification whatsoever for Gloria’s glaring inaction, as if abetting all these extrajudicial killings and brazen corruption.

She’d better stop saying all the rhetorics about “strong republic” if she can’t control the local (except for delivering manufactured votes and helping her perpetuate herself in power).

  78. d0d0ng d0d0ng

“Dodong, to say that local governments/local police have been doing all these venalities is to admit that things have become natural and that no president can do something about them.” – hawaiianguy.

Exactly the point. Let us pick up Cory Aquino who is perceived the least corrupt President. The lopsided CARP law started during her term favoring the landowners and family dynasties who controlled Congress. There were 18 journalists killed during the watch of Cory Aquino from 1986 to 1992.

  79. d0d0ng d0d0ng

Hawaiianguy, Filipinos are by nature personality driven. Today the cancer is Gloria. Fine. Only to wake up later on that the next president is another cancer.

As far as the farmers are concerned from Marcos, Aquino, Ramos, Estrada to Arroyo today, nothing has changed in lip service agricultural reform.

  80. hawaiianguy hawaiianguy

Dodong: “There were 18 journalists killed during the watch of Cory Aquino from 1986 to 1992.”

And under Gloria? The number is 25 (confirmed and verified deaths of journalists) since 2001, according to PCJ. (www.cpj.org/deadly/)

One journalist killed is bad enough, but more is worst, esp. if the perpetrator is still at large. I don’t like to see RP as becoming another Iraq.

Cancer? I would say Cory’s govt is benign, but under Gloria it is without doubt MALIGNANT. No more hope to survive. I am optimistic that we can we have a better president next time around, who is not as cancerous as Gloria.

  81. hawaiianguy hawaiianguy

CPJ. Oopps, sorry for the typo.

“…from Marcos, Aquino, Ramos, Estrada to Arroyo today, nothing has changed in lip service..” Something has changed, in other things (a lot). Under Gloria’s watch, the government is most corrupt, most heinous, most brazen, most rhetorical, most lying.

Sad to say, the democratic gains put up by Cory are destroyed very easily by another woman president. Gloria is incarnating as another Marcos.

  82. hawaiianguy hawaiianguy

From another source, the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ)lists 42 killings of journalists under Gloria’s watch since 2001. (www.ifj.org/default.asp?index=3930&Language=EN)

If these figures were true, extrajudicial killings that target journalists were more alarming.

And what is the govt doing to solve this problem? The creation of Task Force Usig in 2006 seems true to its name. Also, the local honchos (or warlords) who keep those dynasties are totally spared.

As I see it, this glaring imbalance in justice is directly correlated with the “kapit-tuko” syndrome. The more Gloria and her cohorts struggle to survive and perpetuate themselves in power, the more cases of unresolved extrajudicial killings will occur.

If there’s anything good that GMA has managed to perfect is to make her Generals and dogs happy. She knows how to reward them with money and position. Magaling. Pero kanino naman niya natuto ito? Kanino pa kundi kay Imelda Marcos. Imelda could be GMA’s current secret adviser. Hindi ba magkaibigan na sila?
