The national police chief on Saturday admitted that Senior Police Officer 4 Roger Valeroso, who was initially identified as one of Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada’s escorts at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport upon his arrival, is a former member of the Philippine National Police (PNP), ABS-CBN News learned.
PNP chief Director General Avelino Razon Jr. explained that on Wednesday morning, when reports of Lozada’s alleged abduction surfaced, they checked on their list of active personnel but did not find Valeroso in their roster.
A further search, however, revealed that Valeroso is a retired policeman and is working at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
Razon also said it was Valeroso who introduced members of the Police Security and Protection Office (PSPO) to Lozada when they escorted him from the airport.
Meanwhile, Razon said he is willing to testify at a Senate hearing on the national broadband network controversy on Monday.
Razon, speaking on radio dzMM, said he wants to set the record straight and dispute allegations Lozada was kidnapped at the airport.
“Well, ako sisipot para maliwanag [ang] isyung yan. ‘Pag di sumipot, talo tayo. ‘Di humarap na lang tayo (Well, I will go there to clarify this issue. If I don’t go, it’s our loss. Better that we face them),” Razon said.
Razon called Lozada’s accusations “unfair,” insisting that he sought their help and protection because the witness feared for his life.
Razon added that members of the PSPO who escorted Lozada can also attend the Senate hearing.
Aside from Razon, the Senate also invited other personalities mentioned by Lozada in his testimony Friday, including Environment Secretary Lito Atienza.
It was retired Brig. Gen. Angel Atutubo, airport assistant general manager for Security and Emergency Services, who said that it was Valeroso who escorted Lozada from the airport after the latter arrived from Hong Kong.
Lozada when grilled by senators at Friday’s hearing on the scrapped NBN deal disputed police reports that he asked for security upon his arrival. He also said that he was not able to move freely when he was fetched by unidentified men from the airport and even when he was still at the dormitory of La Salle Greenhills in Mandaluyong City.

Para sa akin, imagine nasa kalagayan ka ni Lozada. Naka sakay ka nga sa Toyota Altis pero hindi lang naman kayong tatlo ang bumibyahe. Siguradong meron pang nakasunod na sasakyan. Kung magtangka man syang lumaban wala syang panano, tiyak armado ang mga yon. Kung tomakbo man siya tiyak babarilin sya. Anong sasabihin nila na napagkamalan si Losado na carnaper, holdaper, snatcher, at kung ano ano pa. Katulad din na sinabi nya na he is affraid for his life. Base sa findings ko about kidnapping. They never use one car alone, its always two or more. Just in case you got car trouble or change vehicle para di mahuli. Kung iisa lang pano kung masira? or mawalan ng gasolina maglalakad silang tatlo. Baka nga kasama pa si Atienza sa mga kumuha kay Lozada. Di lang napansin dahil nag drive thru na lang.

just the same – why take the risk of Jun Lozada jumping out of the vehicle and creating a commotion?
mind you – i do not base my questions on movies alone. i have friends in the security services at Iraq – its an SOP for “prisoners” never to be left alone at the back of the vehicle for the following reasons :
a) the prisoner can easily open the door and jump out.
b) the prisoner can assault the driver / front passenger from behind, using an improvised weapon (yes, a ballpen is a weapon – it can be stuck into the neck or the ear of the front passengers)
C) the prisoner can disrupt the driver and cause the vehicle to crash – enabling him to escape.
D) the prisoner is not allowed to have any form of active communication on him as the signal can be traced. although Lozada was warned about texting, the agents never did confiscate his cel. why?
that is why it is essential to secure the prisoner in the back by having additional agents to his left and to his right to make sure the prisoner doesnt make a move.
to i pose my question again honorable bloggers:
if the intention was to kill Lozada –
why did they not bother to agents to his left and to his right in the back seat?
(mind you – seasoned police / military agents ang kumuha kay Lozada. those kind of people intent on killing him would not make this kind of oversight.)

why entail the risk of his jumping out of the vehicle and create a commotion?
why was he allowed to keep his cel open?

3) he cut his unofficial HK trip short, and by omission, canceled his previously agreed upon official committment in Europe.
4) his decision to plane back to ‘Pinas was unilaterally, his own, STUNNING and DISPLEASING his political handlers.
as you try to downplay, or reject outright the victim’s claim of being abducted, maybe it would help your cause if you get to check its legal meaning—and NOT forgetting he was taken from the airport against his will.

so ASSUMING that prevented Lozada from jumping out,
pls do enlighten us on the following :
Lozada – considered by many as a “prisoner” was allowed to keep his cel open (though he was warned about texting, his cel unit was never confiscated).
If the motive was to kill Lozada, then it is very important that nobody be able to trace his location?why was Lozada’s cel unit not confiscated? having an active cel is a top security concern, any agent knows that its signal can be traced.
If the motive was to kill Lozada – why was he taken to OUTBACK, a PUBLIC RESTAURANT? If he was to be killed – di na pakakainin yan. also OUTBACK is a PUBLIC RESTAURANT. If Lozada is indeed in dire straits – he could have easily created a scene and got the attention of the resto management, left a note in the CR that he was being abducted – ANYTHING. But he did NOTHING. Had it been you that was about to be killed – would you just SIT THERE and wait for the end to come? it doesnt make sense.
Thirdly – LOZADA was brought to the very place he requested to brought to – La Salle Greenhills. why? do hitment usually ask their victims where they want to go? To my knowledge- hitmen usually send their victims straight to hell. why this inconsistency?
