Family fears for ex-sarge’s life

The PNP Aviation Security Group has placed SP04 Rodolfo Valeroso, a retired Army master sergeant who escorted ZTE star witness Rodolfo Noel Lozada Jr. upon his arrival from Hong Kong last Feb. 5, in a “safehouse” for his safety.
Chief Supt. Atilano Morada, head of the PNP Aviation Security Group, however, said Valeroso is “not in hiding” and will “surface in due time.”
Morada said Valeroso’s family expressed fears for his life after he was tagged as the alleged abductor of Lozada.
“Lulutang din siya sa tamang panahon, matapos niyang magpahinga,” Morada said.
Morada said Valeroso joined the ASG last December as an “action agent” but did not specify his duties.
Morada refused to elaborate on the term “action agent,” saying it is for Valeroso’s own safety.
He also refused to give details about Valeroso’s age and other personal information.
Morada said they are conducting an investigation on whether the charges of abduction against Valeroso are warranted.
Brig. Gen. (ret.) Angel Atutubo, airport assistant manager for security and emergency services, has said Valeroso told him he was tasked to secure Lozada.
Lozada testified before the Senate’s NBN-ZTE probe that Valeroso took his passport and hand-carried luggage.
Last Feb. 5, Valeroso, Atutubo and NAIA Terminal 1 manager Octavio Lina led Lozada to the departure zone to evade reporters at the arrival area.
From the third floor of the building, the group led Lozada to an elevator, which is closed to the public and used only by employees with their own keys.
The elevator went down to the tarmac, where a waiting vehicle took Lozada and sped him across the runway to the Villamor Air Base exit.
Col. Bartolome Bacarro, Armed Forces public information office chief, said: “If he (Valeroso) is already retired, then of course the Armed Forces of the Philippines has no hand in it and has no control over this person.”
Administration Sen. Joker Arroyo said Lozada appeared credible when he testified last Friday and Monday about his abduction.
Arroyo, former chair of the Blue Ribbon committee, said there are portions of Lozada’s statements that appear to be credible but majority of them lacked documentary evidence.
“In oral testimony, you look at the demeanor. From his demeanor, he seems to be a credible witness. But if you really want to get at the truth, you look at the transcripts of his testimony,” he said.
“It (Lozada testimony) was a case of his word versus those of the government,” Arroyo said.
Arroyo compared Lozada’s demeanor to that of Clarissa Ocampo, the Equitable bank executive who was the main prosecution witness in the 2000 impeachment trial of Joseph Estrada.
“When the time comes for the committee to write its report, this would be one instance where there would be so many separate dissenting and concurring opinions,” Arroyo said.
Senate President Manuel Villar said: “I am one of those who believe that Lozada was kidnapped because he had no control over the situation. He asked to be brought to Pasig but he was not allowed. These are things that happened on the night of his arrival.”
Sen. Mar Roxas said there were inconsistencies in the testimonies of airport and police officials as well as Palace officials in casting doubt on the government’s explanation on Lozada’s flight and details upon his return to the country last week.
“He (Lozada) didn’t want to defend an anomalous transaction, he didn’t want to have to say the things that he would have to say, because he would not lie,” Roxas said.
Retracing the route
Blue Ribbon chair Alan Peter Cayetano said his panel and the committees on national defense and security and on trade and commerce have scheduled an ocular inspection at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Cayetano said he would ask airport officials to retrace the route where Lozada was “whisked away” from the tube up to outside the airport.
A second hearing on the alleged abduction is set on Monday.
Cayetano said they expect to wrap up the investigation on the abduction and proceed to the “overpricing” of the NBN -ZTE project.
Stop ZTE probe
Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago called for a stop to the NBN-ZTE probe to allow the Ombudsman to take over the case.
“The Ombudsman has announced it has already created a panel to investigate this crime, if there is any; who are involved, who should be prosecuted,” she said.
“There is no more reason why the Senate should continue with its inquiry since it would also have to turn over to the Ombudsman or the Department of Justice the results of its probe,” she added.
“Ang problema natin, marami sa mga senador ang interesadong tumakbo sa 2010, kaya gusto nang sarili nilang sound byte or video byte,” she said.
Cayetano said the creation of the task force by the Ombudsman to investigate NBN-ZTE deal “is too late.”

Who would believe that those who kidnapped Lozada at the airport didn’t know one another? A security detail or group of security men picking up a VIP like Lozada should have known one another. I was watching in my television (TFC) last Monday for the whole duration of the investigation of Mr. Lozada. What caught in my attention was no body from the senators asks about the procedure of detailing of PNP personnel as VIP security.
I am a Former Police Officer of the PSPO and it’s unusual that a civilian was given outright VIP security more than required by the law except the subject give huge amount of money to the officer in charged or the latter was a political ally of the arroyo administration. There is an off the record tradition of these unit which every end of the month before you can get your salary the PNP personnel from these unit should give at least 10% of the amount received as part of the honorarium given by the VIP. I told you these so that these practice must be stop. Imagine the total strength of the PSPO personnel estimated to more or less 1,500 all these personnel can’t received their salary at the end of the month if they will not give 1000 pesos as ten percent for the honorarium received from their VIP.meaning every month they have at least 1 million and in one year they have 12 million…. I have also reservation of my expose for the PNP from Recruitment, Deployment of personnel and Promotion….
As a former member of the said unit deploying of our personnel to a civilian VIP was only granted upon the treat assessment was established or their is an eminent treat which was conducted by the Intelligence group of our unit. another thing the personnel deploy should not more than two personnel and no Senior PNCO (SPO4) or Police Officer Ranking from Police Inspector Allowed to secure the VIP.
In these case it’s really clear that these PNP personnel involved has something to do with the abduction or kidnapping of Mr. Lozada may be they’re protecting someone that’s very important people or authority from the Aroyo government rather than protecting the life of Mr. Lozada. What I most feared of, if ended the media was not learned about the arrival of the subject then may be Mr. Lozada now is 6 feet below the ground. As I know no one stand against the aroyo allies…
The usual procedure that was stated by Gen Razon and Col Mascariòas is clearly far from the truth and a cover up of the scenario…the question is, why the subject was given VIP personnel with out proper conducting of treat assessment? 2nd, why a full pledge Colonel or Senior Police Officer of the PSPO is the one who acted as Team leader during the said securing of the VIP?

Frankly, this hiding of witnesses to be interrogated is criminally offensive. Never heard of in Japan, where this kind of investigations are vigorously pursued for not just for a show but to make sure that no official of the government, whether career bureaucrat or elected politicians, gets involved in any graft and corruption nor anyone getting above the law the way these policemen, et al are told to do by a criminal calling herself “president.”
This should be stopped once and for all. The federation of bar associations in the Philippines, etc. should in fact take the initiative to assist that this is done by invoking the law and obedience to it by all means. It should be done and can be done especially considering the fact that a lot many of their members are elected to public offices as these Senators and Congressmen, who should be axed if caught accepting bribes in the form of pork barrels as is the case at present.
Something must be done to stop what the idiot has been doing since she grabbed the presidency and even perhaps before that as is the case, rumor or no rumor.Enough is enough. Hindi pa ba nagsawa ang mga pilipino?

At least, I am gald to hear that the IBP is taking the initiative to leave the protest against these abuses by showing their physical presence in the hearing of Lozada on Friday. Dapat lang. Time likewise that they take the initiative to talk with the people and represent them in court as they seek redress for the many grievances, oppressions, etc. that are being committed freely by these lawbreakers calling themselves as “enforcers of the law.” They should stop this reign of terror being perpetrated by this illegitimate regime of Gloria M. Arroyo, a.k.a. Gloria Dorobo y Pidal.

Pasalamat siya, I have resolved to say the worst of all those Philippine expletives, which is “P…..ina niya!” not just because I would not like to incur the ire of the Lord above but more because I would not like to put myself to the level of these foul-mouthed crooks like the Fatso, his piggy brother and boorish children, including the daughter who will be better off maybe cutting her belly or jumping from a high building even just to help clean their family name!
Never heard of such daughter doing the same whitewashing of her parents’ sins, not even Makiko Tanaka whose father was axed for getting involved in the Lockheed scandal in the 70’s that was no different from this ZTE bribery scandal involving even the former COMELEC Chief. Kasi dito, the more they talk and try to justify their actions, the more they are conceived to be guilty of wrongdoing. Kailangang matoto ng good manners and right conduct ang anak na ito, or better still, umako ng kasalanan especially when the public already know that what she eats, enjoys and is fed to her comes from stolen funds and monies.
