Ang isang kaso na ginawang showcase ng Verafiles ay yung kay Aura Drew Escanlar ng Iloilo City na ginamit ang kanyang pera para sa kanyang review sa nursing board examinations noong December of 2004 sa pagpatayo ng piggery o babuyan.
Na-engganyo kasi si Escanlar sa programa ng Quedancor na nagpapautang sila ng feeds o pagkain ng baboy. Sa programa na kinuha ni Escanlar, siya ang magpapatayo ng kulungan at bibili ng piglets. Magpapalabas ng pera ang Quedancor sa isang pribadong kumpanya para sila ang magbibigay ng mga feeds.
Diyan pa lang sigurado may kikita na. Bakit ba kailangan pa idadaan sa pribadong kumpanya? Siyempre kailangan may kumitang kaibigan.
Ganoong nga ang nangyari. Nawala na parang bola ang P3 bilyon para sa Iloilo. At nandamay pa sila ng ibang tao katulad ni Escanlar.
Sabi ni Escanlar, hindi naman dumarating sa oras ang feeds na dapat ibigay sa kanya para sa kanyang 50 na piglets.Saan naman siya kukuha ng pera pangpakain sa 50 na baboy at naubos na sa pagpatayo ng kulungan. Hindi tumagal at nagkandamatay ang mga baboy.
“Naging libingan ang aking piggery,” sabi ni Escanlar.
Ano ang nangyari sa pera na nakalaan sa proyekto? Ayon sa record ini-release daw buo sa BIRKS Agri-Livestock Corp. Ayaw magbigay ng kumento ng tinatanong ng Vera Files tungkol sa isyu.

Kaya hindi nakapag-tataka na parehong-parehong istilo ng paggamit ng pera na hindi ayun sa batas sa kaso ng babuyan at ng sa abono para sa magsasaka.
Si Bolante ay inaasahang ibalik dito sa Pilipinas mula sa sa Amerika at dapat panagutan niya ang kanyang papel sa P728 million na fertilizer scam.

The last hospital I know that was built (with my expertise, ehem) is Asian Hospital. Nothing built afterwards and that was in 2000! Imagine, if we create opportunities for a few hundred nurses only every eight years, it’s not surprising we have a lot of unemployed nurses today.

But Medical City is much more efficient when it comes to service.

No one wonders about that anymore and even in all licensure examinations. Remember what that desperate wife said from her perception of us? School normally dont teach well, the graduates rely on the reviews that gives what was not taken up in that factory that will be given in the examination. For the non-passers and non-graduates, there is the fabled Recto license and diploma Mill. Malacanan should know that.

I used to go to Asian Hospital for my laboratory tests when our company health insurance card was CAP. We have shifted to Medicard and Asian Hospital is not included.
When I was undergoing chemo, I was rushed there twice when I had LBM and extreme nausea. We live in las Piñas. (My oncologist, Dr. Cecilia Llave,who is head of the PGH Cancer Institute, is accredited there.) Ang ganda nga. Their linens are warm. You are right. The rates are nakakahimatay. My abdominal CT scan was P22,000. Sa PGH less than P10,000 lang.
But I still find the service of Medical City more efficient.
Like when I had my first CT scan at Asian, the staff did not give me complete instruction for CT scan preparations. I had to be re-scheduled because I was not able to fast,

But when it comes to doctors’ expertise, PGH doctors have my trust.
Some hospitals give discount to patients who are members of some organizations. At St. Luke’s Hospital, I heard that the owner, a certain Mr. Ledesma, gives discount to Masons because Ledesma is a member of Freemasonry. Over at New Era Hospital, special discount is also given to members of INC.

Same here, I’d even take the less attractive PGH Pay Ward if only for my self-assurance about the competence of doctors and nurses because of the variety of the cases they treat there. Kaya lang medyo unsanitary na rin kung minsan, at saka very depressing ang atmosphere lalo kung makikita mo yung tambak ng emergency patients hanggang bangketa, yung mga equipment mukhang surplus sa Binondo kahit bagu-bago pa. Baka lang lalong madali ang buhay ng pasyente doon.
What you’re doing is what many are doing, too. Their PGH doctors bring them to other hospitals that are accredited by their health insurers. You get the best of both worlds. For a price, of course.

Hospitals are supposed to share 10% (or 20%?) of their income to indigents via free medical services. I have this friend who works in Asian Hosp’s maintenance and supervises landscaping there. He got a free triple bypass from the hospital. Mahaba daw ang pila, kaya lang nauna dahil empleyado nga. That also helps their fresh grad doctors to “practice” on real cases. Ngiiii.
Now, if you want a guaranteed 12% discount, tell your doctor you won’t be needing a receipt. That is, if you don’t need it to claim from Philhealth or your insurance. Adjustable ang mga PF depende sa tax, heheh.

Our doctors are really good. There are just so many patients to hone their specialties in private or public hospitals. For the experience alone, even our nurses are highly selected for it. One has only time and patience needed to get up early, get in line at any govt hospital and you get A-1 medical attention for free. But of course if you dont want your circle of amigas to see you there, go to private hospitals, you get similar A-1 medical attention. The doctor could even be the same doctor at the public hospital.
