Noong Lunes, sa interbyu kay Lorelei Fajardo, deputy presidential spokesperson tungkol sa tawag ni US President Barack Obama kay Gloria Arroyo, sinabi niya na hindi nila pinapabayaan si “Nicole” ang alias na binigay ng media kay Suzette Nicolas, ang nag-akusa ng rape kay US Marine Cpl Daniel Smith.
Sabi ni Fajardo, “We have not abandoned Nicole, we will be supporting her all the way. And I’m sure therewill be some kind of a compromise agreement between the two countries so that we can come into terms for the best, for what would be the best for Nicole. I think that should be clear enough.
Nang tanungin siya kung ano yung compromise agreement na yun, ang sagot ni Fajardo, “I think ang ibig ko lang sabihin about the compromise agreement is that we will fight for her and we will be supporting her. We have not abandoned her. Ongoing naman ang negotiation natin with the US on Nicole’s case. “
Lunes ‘yun, March 16. Kaya pala, March 12 pumirma na itong si Suzette ng affidavit na binbawi ang akusasyon na ni-rape siya ni Smith. Baka naman daw siya masyadong naging “friendly and intimate” kay Smith na nag-akalang gusto niyang makipag-carried away daw sila. At kung gusto siyang i-rape ni Smith, bakit pa siya kinarga at idinaan sa main entance, sabi na nya ngayon.
Sa maikling salita, niloko niya ang sambayanang Pilipino, kasama na ang korte.
Sabi nga sa kumakalat na text, mula sa paigigng rape victim, nagiging $2,000 na prosti si Nicole. Ang bugaw , si Gloria Arroyo.
Mula’t-mula pa, may duda ako dito kay Nicole/Suzette at marami akong narinig na hindi naman talaga siya kagalang-galang. Kaya nga maliban sa unang report tungkol sa insidenteng rape, hindi na ako sumulat tungkol sa kaso niya.
Nang mabasa ko ang kanyang bagong affidavit, gusto ko siyang batukan. Sa aking blog, ito ang mga reaksyon:

“May kanya kanya tayong way para marating ang maliit na pangarap. It just so na katawan nya ang naging paraan.Wag natin sya bitayin.”
Si Tongue-Twisted naman nag-aapela sa mga kakandidato na presidente sa 2010. Kung sino raw ang kandidato na makapag extradite o makapag-pabalik sa Pilipinas kay Nicole para sioya makasuhan ng “large scale fraud” o malakihang panloloko, ay bobotohin ng mga bloggers.
At gusto niyang patayuan ng munumento si Smith sa loob ng Subic para maibalik ang kanyang nilait-lait na magandang pangalan.

It seem that life has imitated art. The story of Nicole calls to mind an old Jodie Foster movie, The Accused.

Reminds me of a case I interpreted for in a Japanese court. Interpreter noong kano, who insisted on consensual sex. May video pa ngang piniresenta sa korte. Di ko pinanood kasi parang porno movie. I should mention that the case happened outside of the US base kaya lalong under the jurisdiction ng Japanese court. Pero dahil sa civilian iyong victim at may dual citizenship, bagsak din ng kaso sa Japanese court.
Merong legal office sa mga US bases dito pero none of their officials there will dare try to disrupt the procedure or insist that the Japanese court do it the American way.
