  2. Finally, this blog is back.

I’m in the province and I thought last night and this morning, it was my Globe visibility that was the problem. Until I got an email from Syria. Then I got calls from friends who complained that they could not access my blog.

    Thank you for your patience.

Per news reports on the G-20 meeting, China’s Hu Jintao was actually resisting the transparency measure. It was France’s Sakorsky supported by Germany’s Merkel that insisted and they won.

    Dapat naman, di ba.

  5. Focusing OFW remittances instead of the money laundered by corrupt officials. Here’s what OECD executive summary analysis of 2004.

Remittances are used to reduce household poverty and satisfy basic needs, but also to increase investment in health and education, i.e. to improve investment in human capital in the countries of origin. There is an important gender dimension to such human capital investments.

For Philippines to become a participating members, it has tofind the best strategy to maximize the impact of remittances on economic growth.

OECD recommends the implementation of sound macroeconomic policies and policies of good
governance, as well as development strategies involving all actors ( all 3 branches of government) in the economy.

Good governance, a sound banking system, respect for property rights, and an outward-oriented trade and FDI strategy, are prerequisites for enhancing the efficiency of remittances in an economic development perspective. The state has a primordial role to play in establishing these key building blocks for economic development, supported by the international community. POLICIES should support and accompany migrants who wish to engage in ENTREPRENEURIAL ACTIVITIES.

So who are the policymakers of this country?

  6. what does this mean? Remittances are neither a substitute for ODA nor for FDI flows.

Does the Philippines really need to borrow money for economic development? Is it a good strategy to provide unlimited permit to allow housing development as the focus of growth? OECD recommends entrepreneurship. What limitations should a district/region or city government do in terms of environmental safety , zoning and savings of land area from urbanization due to housing growth? For a small land area of 80 million people, what kind of housing development should our country encourage? high rise or subdivisions? Majority of OFW remittances are invested heavily to housing. Housing is an unstable investment for Philippine economy. Employment rate and interest rate can fluctuate. If an OFW loses his job overseas, what can a house do? would you recover the money you have put in ? How long does it take to sell a home in the Philippines just in case you may need some cash? baka.. babalik ka na naman sa old style.. “pautang muna hanggang ma confiscate ang bahay mo” My point: it is best to establish a business first in home country before buying your dream home, just in case you might lose your job overseas. This way, the security of employment can extend to your unemployed loved ones. If an OFWs think this way, this country may not be branded as a ” Nation of Servants”

  8. Speaker Prospero Nograles hit back at the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development for blacklisting the Philippines as a non-cooperative tax haven, saying its member countries do not have unblemished records and have caused the global financial crisis.

Nograles lamented that the Philippines was being made a “punching bag, as if we are not doing any correct things here.”

  11. I wonder why the Evil Bitch is quiet this time after Nokor launched the missile. In the past, she would be among the first to make comment about other country’s action usually in support of Uncle Sam.

My spy told me that the Bitch could be negotiating a deal with Nokor to purchase missiles to defend RP’s Spratley islands…he, he. How can RP pay for these missiles? OFWs.

  12. BE,It is not surprising if our kababayan won’t make any moved to kick the ASS of Travelling SLAVES TRADER due of many factors, one, waiting for some incentives or hand out, second they are tired been taking advantages with self motives or interest politikos,3rd nobody wanna initiates the moves unless the “uto-utorithies” would back down and joined the moves.

  13. While Pareng Barak parties it up in Europe (and gets laughed at) the world continues to spiral downward. Missles are flying, economies are failing, crime is skyrocketing…. and Pareng Barak just sits there and grins. What an utter failure we have for POTUS.

NOKOR fired it’s missiles.North Korea does whatever China let’s them do.

If China wants to let them play with Bombs and Rockets, there’s nothing anyone can do about it ; it’s their sphere of influence. Japan is the real intended recipient of the messages.
The Tri- Polar world is beginning to unfold.

  14. Barako Obama has changed Europe’s perception of America. First, he showed humility by admitting America’s past mistakes and arrogance. Second, he listened to other leaders instead of talking like what past US presidents did. Third, his popularity made up for the angry crowds who continue to hate the Americans. The mess that Bush did in the last eight years was something a new administration even in the person of Obama finds extremely difficult to solve. It’s similar to this Evil Bitch…the next RP President will be worse inheriting the Bitch’s corruption.

I feel bad for the Koreans, both North and South. The history of Korea for over 100 years has been the most tragic starting with when TR(Teddy Bear) ceded the Korean Peninsula to the Japanese as part of the settlement of the Russo-Japanese War. For 41 years the Korean People were tormented by the brutal Japanese Empire, then after WWII, Korea became a primary East Asian pawn for the Super Powers in the Cold War. The Korean People have been in a state of War since the 1950’s (the Korean War never ended). The people of North Korea have lived under the privations of a poorly run dictatorship, while the people of South Korea have lived under American Occupation “for their own good” for the same length of time.

North Korea is a miserable place left out in the cold for too long, rather then look at this singularly pitiful place as an inherent threat, we need to view it in terms of a Nation in irrational, pain wracked misery. Somehow we need to help these people, and find a way for the Korean War to end and the nation to reunify. The Koreans don’t deserve the misery they are suffering, which is inflicted upon them by third party outsiders as a matter of habit at this point.

  16. The Korean problem is the creation of the West just like Vietnam.

  17. What’s happening to America today? Just recently, four Oakland cops were gunned down. And then, another three in Pittsurgh. Then, a Vietnamese-American shot and killed 14 people including a Filipina immigrant at American Civic Association. Not long ago, a Korean student killed many students. The reason: Mainstream made fun of their English.

  18. bitchevil,

Don’t forget that North Korea would not have been able to launch any such rockets without the help of China. In fact, North Korea has been used by China as a “run boy” (a thug) to push its own agenda. Just think for a moment, where do you think N. Korea gets its rocket ‘technology’ from?

The West, Japan, and S. Korea should (if they haven’t already) realize that if they dig a little deeper, they would see Chinese fingerprints all over this and other military moves/threats made by N. Korea.

To solve the N. Korea problem is to target its root: China!

  19. The firing of NOKOR missiles called “EL KABONG” is a welcoming Hosanna song for Pareng Barak, who is finishing up a European trip following his attendance at the G-20 summit — and bring the U.S. to the bargaining table for one-on-one talks.

North Korea sees an opportunity to challenge Pareng Barak on his first trip abroad, hoping to make itself the center of international attention,North Korea said its sees its satellite as a way to send not just data but also paeans from space down to leader Kim. The state-run press agency said the satellite was going round on its routine orbit and was sending to the earth the melodies of songs heralding Kim and his late father, Kim II Sung.

Cant the OECD mind their own business and leave us alone? I am sure those left behind within the Philippine base line are a happy lot. I for one is. We have very rich natural resources that we can afford to be lazy, stubborn diseducted and poor. Our main industry is politics and it can generate excessive money stashed in banks that is not meant anymore for us.

  21. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that Nokor launched the rocket with China’s consent.

We, Christians during Lent are encouraged to repent (kahit isang lingo lang) but marami dito ang hindi Christiano kaya Lent does not mean a thing…malungkot.. but that is the way it is and we just have to live with it..Bush, Obama o sino pa!.

  27. Money Laundering in a Change world and Why is It a Problem?

Criminal and tax evading funds are idle and non-productive. Their injection, however surreptitiously, into the economy transforms them into a productive (and cheap) source of capital. It corrupts government officials, banks and their officers, contaminates legal sectors of the economy, crowds out legitimate and foreign capital, makes money supply unpredictable and uncontrollable, and increases cross-border capital movements, thereby enhancing the volatility of exchange rates.

  28. asiandelight,Truth is, the world economy needs to be rewritten in a manner that is more reflective of what money (the symbol) actually represents. I doubt that anyone can achieve this without returning to more tangible symbolism than a set of figures on a computer screen. Maybe if the whole world reverted to physical coinage that had to be manually counted cause and effect might become more obvious.

  29. Is the dollar doomed? – TIME, April 6, 2009. Will gold be the next standard? Will Obama bulldoze his ten Trillion (oneT annually) stimulus package and his socialist agenda? Americans are flummoxed; it boggles the mind.

Abante Tonight showed a picture of the photo mosaic of Gloria na ibinagsak sa Luneta Park…how insensitive could they be..wala na ngang makain ang karamihan sa mga bata sa hirap ng buhay bagsakan pa nila ng mukha ni Arroyo..they could have spent the money to feed the many hungry children..walang hiya na talaga..and garapal ang mukha..

  31. To solve the money laundering problem, why don’t we just return to the old barter trade practice?

  32. This makes me sick. What’s supposed to be a sacred and solemn occasion has again turned to something else. No wonder many are leaving the church:

MANILA, Philippines – As far as Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines spokesman Msgr. Pedro Quitorio is concerned, “rapping” the “pabasa” is okay.

Quitorio on Monday said he sees nothing wrong if the youth would use “rap” to express their faith as long as it would help them meditate on the Lord’s gospel during the week-long Catholic holiday.

“We all have our own style of expressing our faith. We should not prohibit them [youth] from doing that because that is their world, the world of rap,” he said.

“Pabasa” is traditional chanting of the Lord’s passion done during the Holy Week. Communities and families holding it are now changing its tunes to attract the youth.

  33. Rose Rose

St. Mary’s church in downtown Jersey City will have a pabasa and they have been doing this for some years now..and there will be a salubong early Sunday. This is in the Manila Avenue area and they have been sharing the way we do things in the Phil..with other groups..processions etc.
Every year a friend holds the pabasa in their house and tomorrow they will have one..While I love to participate I am not comfortable with Tagalog (nakakahiya nga!) thus tahimik lang ako..
All these things that we do here in Jerey City bring back to me memories of youth.

  34. There are also some in the Philippines who sing the old songs of the 60s and 70s for Pabasa. What’s going on? Not to be critical of the Catholic Church, the church has been changing the practices quite often to suit their convenience and not according to God’s ways. For instance, the baptism by immersion was changed to sprinkling of water.

  35. Rose Rose

BE: Malungkot nga talaga..the Catholic church seems to be bending to the whims of their flock..Ang mga pari hindi na nasusutana at ang masaklap pa (I am not against the wearing of ordinary shirts) marami ang hindi na gumagamit ng Roman collar to identify them as priests..ang mga madre naka damit lang without a sign of being a nun..wala na ang reverence sa Simbahan..aywan ko lang dian pero dito may mga tao na nagsisimba at nagcocomunion in shorts and tank tops or spaghetti tops…Convenience talaga is what many want kaya wala ng fastings, wala ng sacrifices sa Lent…

  36. cocoy,

Maybe if the whole world reverted to physical coinage that had to be manually counted cause and effect might become more obvious.

that’s not convenient. if you want to convert it to gold, Im not sure if I will carry my purse heavy. 🙂

We probably need the Senate to implement a bill that may require all banks to have capabilities for transparency purposes. Many banks in the world are using Anti Money Laundering Software by SAS or SAP. Google search it.

  37. Rose, there are even rich people and politicians who hire the services of people to chant the Pabasa for them while they’re away on vacation. In churches like Quiapo, many are offering their services to pray for those who pay them. What kind of devotion and prayers are these? You’re right. In the past, the priests wore their civilians clothes at night for obvious reason. Today, they wore modern clothes and jeans on broad daylight. The nuns are no different. I’ve seen some wearing make ups and jewelries.

  40. cocoy,

Maybe if the whole world reverted to physical coinage that had to be manually counted cause and effect might become more obvious.

that’s not convenient. if you want to convert it to gold, Im not sure if I will carry my purse heavy. 🙂 ==Asiandelight

That’s the only solution i can think of right now for these corrupt politicians in office and in power,we can only have transparent in the government if we can see how much they’ll steal, maybe only the amount they can carry.Hehehehe!

  41. nahnah, nothing is free even for a priest’s service. Wedding, baptism, death, house warming…you name it there’s a fee.

  42. Rose Rose

BE: I know here in JC there is a fee for Weddings, Baptism and Death…but for other services outside of the use of the church..it is a private and personal “gift” of whoever wishes it…ang madalas na gumagawa nitong private services ay mga Filipinos..kaya malaki ang kita ng private services ng mga pari dahil sa malakas mag lagay ang mga Filipinos..may nagsabi sa akin na Filipino priest “professional fee kuno”…karamihan ng mga Filipino priests ay may sariling kotse..thus making them available for their private services…

  43. Rose Rose

..ang alam ko rin dito sa Diocese of Newark..bawal ang magpamisa sa funeraria..services lang…pero may iilan din na nakakalusot..sa ibang ethnic groups ang misa ay sa simbahan..hindi sa bahay..I used to be the bookkeeper accountant of Holy Rosary here in JC…nabasa ko ang rulings with regard to this…

  44. florry florry

So the Philippines have been encircled and colored black by OECD. That will never surprise any Filipino anymore. In fact it took a very long in coming. What will be surprising is if Gloria and Mike and their gangs make or attempt to square the circle to have the country fit into the rules and standard of OECD. But knowing them and their ilk to be so insensitive, so shameless and so corrupt there’s no way that compliance is at hand. To them it doesn’t matter whatever dishonor they brought to the country. What matters is enriching themselves to unimaginable height.

  45. I am very thankful sa pagproduce ng malaking photomosaic ni GMA dahil therapeutic siya. I felt relieved after stepping on GMA’s face so many times!

The primary aim of the OECD and the WTO is to protect the economies of the G7 countries. Walden Belo wrote in his article the following,

Like most other developing countries, there is little subsidisation for farmers in the Philippines. In contrast, agricultural subsidies in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries rose from $182 billion at the time of the founding of the WTO in 1995 to an estimated $318 billion in 2002. Subsidies now account for 40 per cent of the value of agricultural production in the E.U. and 25 per cent in the U.S. With such support, E.U. and U.S. agricultural products will out-compete those produced by unsubsidised Filipino farmers in the Philippine market at any time.

His full article can be read on,

    http://www.asiarice.org/sections/Whatsnew/India3.html

  51. syria syria

    http://www.asiarice.org/sections/Whatsnew/India3.html

  52. The question is, how and why was the Bitch elected as Senator and Vice President that gave her the way to become the illegal President?

  53. syria,

valid naman ang assertion ni Walden Bello about the dubious motives of the G7 lalo na sa international trade and finance.

    http://www.stwr.org/imf-world-bank-trade/decommissioning-the-imf-world-bank-and-wto.html

  56. Rose Rose

oo nga ano..bakit hindi rebulto ni Gloria Macapal-gal ang linagay sa Luneta…at barilin ng canyon, pana, tirador, etc. for a peso each shot and then with the money have a party and feed the poor…enjoy shooting and have a gloria fun..

  57. Rose Rose

the positive thing I could think of re- being a tax haven for depositors is this..hindi ba we were encouraged to deposit money in the bank so the money can be loaned and used for the nation’s economic growth?…if these tax evaders deposit their money sa atin..these amounts could be used for our economic growth, hindi ba? puede din nakawin ng familia ni garapal-gal..and then bahala na maglabolabo and sa takot o sa anong mang paraan mamatay sila…at gloria ang Pilipinas.
oops..Holy Thurs. na..I better say kind words about her…mahirap at wala akong maisip so I better shut up..But Happy Easter to All..I am still 4’11 so I better practice jumping para tumaas..bukas…Sabado de Gloria…

Syria, funny that we think the same way. If indeed pandak is genuinely sad, she should have this her first ever “holy” week and genuinely change for the better and serve the people for a change and not herself and her cronies at all times.

Most of the passengers were undersecretaries. No big gun. But if this helicopter was also being used by pandak, the malfunction may have been prepared for her, not for the 8 people who perished. May this be a warning to pandak to again look deep within and do her penance and change for the better from here on. Wala ng cha cha o martial law. She should just let the people pick a legitimate president in 2010. This may be an omen for more horrible things to happen to her. This helicopter was the second one that disappeared in a week. The other helicopter, carrying 7 passengers also disappeared and maybe the passengers in that helicopter are not as VIP as these Malacanang passengers because to date, there are no big efforts to locate the first missing helicopter.

It is the pandak’s way. It is her way or NO WAY!

Too bad, walang black box yung chopper.

What was not played up was the black shoe boxes filled with money for the next day’s occasion. Your prophetic prayers, thank the Thai militants for making possible a replay, it may be the other chopper that precedes the next summit.

The Vice President has never had any role whenever the president is out of the country. He is only good on the TV programs and for low rate interests. If the president dies on a plane crash abroad or even at sea, other people has more experience to take over the duties of the president other than the vice president who has no tried and tested hands on yet if at all.

  69. Bell 412 is a version of US NAVY/MARINE,twin engine chopper used as a combat/attack aircrft which reliable for ferrying troops in and out also used in Med-evac., during 60-70s.Probably PI gov’t acquired the CHOPPER from the smokey mountain arsenal of US aircft, refitted with limited used in flying hours due its components has been wear & tear situation, main structures has been in a limitation capacities,no matter what hi-tech they mounted on the aircraft it is useless, fraction of seconds will cause fatalities.FAILURES of proper technical inspections/maintenances are main factors to be consider before to airbone an aircraft.TOO late to say SORRY,no FUNDS for maintenance parts.Wish the queen of Croco has boarded the aircraft.HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!!!!

  70. According to the US authorities, the Captain was rescued. But from other sources, he was freed or released. Being freed of course is different from being rescued. Here’s my analogy:

The US Navy said that at the time of the Captain’s rescue, a pirate was pointing his AK-47 at the hostage’s head. Then, the US Navy sniper shot the three pirates. The information from the US further said that the Captain attempted to escape for the second time and it was successful. I find the above story unbelievable.

Before the alleged rescue, the US side was holding a pirate as hostage while the Captain was being held from the other side. Three pirates were holding the Captain. It’s inconceivable that there was no shot being fired from any of the pirates while the US sharpshooters shot all the three dead not minding the safety of the Captain who had an AK-47 pointed at his head. I have my own version: There was a negotiation and the agreement was to swap the two hostages to end the crisis. The Captain was being released when the US side treacherously shot and killed the three pirates who were not able to fire back. Instead of releasing the pirate being held by the US, the US did not comply with the agreement and decided to keep him. The US was willing to kill as many enemies but would not allow one American to die. Considering the wide international media coverage, the US had to show to the world that she’s still the mightiest. During the Press Conference, reporters kept asking the Naval Spokesman how the whole rescue thing happened; but the guy was evasive explaining he did not know the specifics. That’s the end of the version of my story.
