The Oakwood mutiny, the Marines standoff and the Manila Peninsula siege have left a mark not only in history but also in the hearts of three young girls.

Thea Trillanes, Faye Querubin and Aika Lim have had to endure the prolonged absence of their fathers—former Navy captain and now senator Antonio Trillanes IV, Marine Col. Ariel Querubin and Army Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim—who remain in jail and are standing trial for mutiny. But they are proud of their fathers and believe that what they did was right.

Recently, the three girls, aged 11, 15 and 18, visited the places where their fathers left a footprint in history.

  1. Aika Lim is Gen. Danny Lim’s only daughter. I think she studies at a Filipino-Chinese school. If Gen. Lim is a confirmed Tsinoy, I wonder if he speaks Chinese. If he decides to run for public office, he could have the support of the Tsinoy Community.

  2. Aika is now an architecture student at UST.

  3. I saw one video where she’s at I think Chinese high school in Bicol.

Indeed, Gloria imprisoned the truth together with the Men of Honor and Courage. And that truth is ready to explode anytime now that’s why Gloria is currently window-shopping for a safe haven.

  5. chi chi

OK, girls…let’s do it! Let’s bring your fathers, BGen. Lim and Col. Ariel Querubin to the public/elected posts they’ve chosen.

    Girls Power! Rah! rah! rah!

  6. parasabayan parasabayan

Chi tama ka! These girls can really be powerful in their own way to rally for their dads! Lumaki silang walang amang kasama (except when they go and visit with their dads). No outings with dad, no dad’s shoulder to cry on, no dad to go to the movies with. Yet look at them showing the facade of normal life! They are surely a picture of strength! These girls will be stronger than ever!

  7. boyner boyner

I want to inform Aika, Faye and Thea through Ellen that your dads did the right thing, standing for the truth which is a divine attribute and the foundation of every virtue. That majority of Filipinos are behind them and their cause that is why you have all the reasons to be proud of them. Right on girls! Let your feelings be known particularly among the youth. Remind them of what our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal said about the youth and the future well-being of our country and people. They must get involved and not just be fence sitters.

  8. Gabriela Gabriela

Thea is 11 years old? She’s tall for her age.

The girls look charming. It must be a feat for their mothers to try to give them a normal family life with their fathers in detention all these years.

  10. Rose Rose

Mabuhay kayong tatlo! Start the campaign and let us get the barrel rolling girls! and we will soon have the million Filipinos behind you..

  11. To Faye, Aika, and Thea,

Your heroes are our heroes too.

Your fathers are not mutineers. Who is the lawful authority they rebelled against? Is it the one whose only claim to legitimacy is the prevention of presentation of evidences of the GMA involvement in the tampering of the 2004 presidential election results in an investigation?

Your fathers are not coup plotters. What has a coup got to do with our being continuously occupied by the Americans today since 1899 when they begun to invade us? The Americans have poured their toxic wastes in the Subic, Zambales area which resulted to rare diseases to our children there. They raped our Filipinas freely. They continue to conduct military exercises in our terrain to familiarize in an area strategically valuable to them. This makes us Filipinos, even more militarily vulnerable to the Americans. What has a coup got to do with the continued subtle invasion of the Chinese of our economic areas from the 1900s till now also as a result of that American invasion of 1899. There are Americans like Capt David Fagen, Mark Twain, Andrew Carnegie and many others who defected on our side or have fought for the rights of nations which their own nation have abused. There are Chinese or Chinese meztizos in the Philippines such as Herman Tiu Laurel, Alejandro Lichauco and Gen Danilo Lim in the Philippines who: came here with legitimate purpose; fought for the cause of our liberation as a Filipino nation– they are more Filipinos than the collaborator GMA, the congressmen for sale or Filipino mercenaries in the Armed Forces. They are either assets or added treasures of our nation. In the past, the Spanish blood in the veins of our heroes like Andrés Bonifacio and Fr. José Burgos did not deter them from confronting the Spaniards by having organized an independence movement for us and upheld our status and rights. For details and references of this information, see my post at http://jmgpatria.blogspot.com/2009/06/developmental-basis.html and http://jmgpatria.blogspot.com/2009/06/chinese-invasion-continues.html.
Thru all these invasion, GMA has been collaborating. Is this not treason? What has a coup got to do with arresting the perpetration of the acts of treason? Is this not the duty of every soldier of a nation? Is defending the nation against foreign invasion not the essence of the profession of a soldier?

In more healthy and civilized nations like France, Israel, Japan and Vietnam, their soldiers professional as they are, would have spontaneously mounted a fierce resistance against foreign invaders and their collaborators. Gen Charles de Gaulle of France is one example of having led the resistance against the German invasion and the French puppet government of the Germans, Petain. A few years after that, he had the US base in France removed.

But we Filipinos also have a tradition of warriors who resisted the American invaders of 1899. To name a few, Gen Ricarte, Gen Antonio Luna, Gen Alejandrino, Gen Tino, Gen Lukban, Gen Malvar, Gen Sakay, and Maj Torres Bugallon. They offered their lives so that we today may inherit this newly developed nation acquired in 1898. This is the fine tradition inherited by professional Filipino soldiers among us today. They are, as all of us Filipinos should be, continuing that unfinished fight for our inheritance.

Your heroes are our heroes too! Please tell this to your classmates.

  12. ofw ofw

brave girls, i agree that your fathers are a real heroes.

  13. Good exposure for the girls! At least, bata pa nahuhubog na. Hopefully, they will live up to what they are supposed to be, the hopes of the motherland .

Atta girl, Aika, Faye and Thea!

  14. JM:

Macario Sakay must be a descendant of a Japanese settler during the Spanish period. Sakai (Sakay) like Akino (Aquino) are Japanese surnames. Kaya siya matapang!!! 😛

  16. As for Gen. Ricarte, he actually escaped to Japan as a matter of fact. I met one or two of his descendants here long, long time ago.

He was from Batac and a distant relative of my grandfather, who like Ricarte, never pledged allegiance to the USA.

  17. Thanks for the information.

The Japanese in general are no longer a national security threat to the Filipino nation today. They are not in general control of our military, of our economy, nor of our culture.

Like I said, these are assets or added treasures to our patria.

grizzy, ikao ay masyado defensive kay Mon!

  18. But they are proud of their fathers and believe that what they did was right.

They were really right. Their fathers were right to refuse obeying the orders of one who has committed a crime or two to get the presidency.

In fact, all soldiers of the Philippines should have had the guts to resist the fake president, one who has admitted calling up a COMELEC commissioner to steal 1M votes for her even when it is strictly prohibited by law, calling it merely as a lapse of judgment, and kick her out, including those she gives dole outs to during some loyalty check.

  19. jose miguel, sad to say we’re still under the control of the US economically and militarily. The Americans granted us independence on paper only.

  20. habib habib

    Hapon si Macario Sakay?

    Kaya matapang?

    Tsk. tsk. tsk.

  21. Additional information for you, JM. I understand from interviews we did with the surviving members of the MAKAPILI two or three years ago, Ricarte was very much part of the original group that endorsed and promoted Japan’s Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere prior to WWII, the SAKDAL, the mother organization of the MAKAPILI.

I am actually gathering materials on this as I plan to write an article on this movement led by Benigno Ramos.

  22. chi chi

    Nawala na ako!

  23. Bakit tayo napunta kay Macario Sakay? Let’s refrain from off topic discussion.

I can give you each other’s email addresses if you want to pursue lengthy discussion on topics that interests both of you not tackled in this blog.

  24. Sakay is a Japanese name…that’s why. If it’s about Japanese, it’s a lengthy discussion…he, he.

  25. bitchevil said,”The Americans granted us independence on paper only.”

I felt much hope when I saw your choice of words. How many of us Filipinos know this today? These are not even the words used in our media in general. Nor is this the official statement. The official statement is that the Americans granted us independence, period. But what is their basis? What are the facts?

The only right the Americans have in granting independence to a sovereign entity already a nation in 1898 is, that after they invaded, occupied, raped, tortured, and herded us in concentration camps, 500,000 to 900,000 of us Filipinos died. The only right they have is that thereafter, they replaced every organic system we developed with their system for the purpose of separating us from our origins to corrupt our national genetic code, to weaken our resistance and to become perpetual worshipping dependents to our American invaders. The only right thay have is that thereafter, they granted us independence.

In fact even though it is only on paper, they do not have to. They do not have to be legalistic because as aforementioned, most of us Filipinos have already become perpetual worshipping dependents to our American invaders. We are not anymore owners of our inheritance.

It is only thru these resisting professional soldiers of our nation today, including those held prisoners of war by GMA that stimulates us Filipinos to stop and look at who we are. It is only by having all of us Filipinos be finally aware that we have yet to claim our inhertance, that we still have hope to soon be able to come back to our own patria.

It is only when Filipinas like, Faye, Aika, and Thea, disseminate these facts that we Filipinos can soon be able to come back to our own home!

  26. habib habib

Haayy! Ang buhay nga naman, parang comedy. Horror nga lang ‘yung iba!

  27. heroes, they may be, but i seriously wouldn’t vote for danny lim should he decide to run for public office.

i personally felt na nasayang ang boto ko kay trillanes who wasn’t able to perform his full duties in the senate because he is in prison.

    siyetehan,

    A bit Of-topic again:
I don’t know if you have read or heard the proposal of norbie gonzales of the infamous veneble contract?

He is proposing a revolutionary government with the following members:
    1. gloria
    2. johnny
    3. nogie and
    4, reynato puno

Geeezzz, this guy maybe is out of sync? He knows very much that his boss is not not liked by the peeps and yet he is including the bitch in the line-up. Johnny Ponce Enrile, I doubt it very much, after his experience under the cory government? tsk, tsk, tsk I doubt it. Nogie! hahahaha look at the face, you can launch a thousand ship with his face and all will sunk in the deep blue oceans and seas, nyhahahahahahaha… Puno, I don’t know much of him. But, I guarantee that he will not accept it being the fiscalizer between the evil bitch and the people? but I’m hoping he will stay true to his form.

Geezzzzz norbie gonzales? the gall, what is he going to do for the “Revolutionary” government? DUH! Your guess is as good as mine. Stupid.

  30. Liwayway-Gawgaw:

    salamat sa magandang tugon.

    1. i do not imply to compare trillanes with the “others”. kung nagkakamot lang sila ng kilikili habang natutulog (na hanggang ngayon eh iniisip ko kung paano nila nagagawa iyang sinabi mo), it should serve a lesson to the people na huwag na silang ibotong muli.

  31. Al Al

Siyetehan, re your comment “i personally felt na nasayang ang boto ko kay trillanes who wasn’t able to perform his full duties in the senate because he is in prison.”

Blame Gloria Arroyo. She ignored the mandate of 11 million people and ordered the continued detention of Trillanes because his victory was slap in her corrupt face.

The more reason that Gloria Arroyo should be ousted to allow senators that the people voted to serve them.

Hindi yata tama ang logic that you take it out on Lim the misgovernance of Arroyo.

  32. Al:

    It is this simple:

I would vote 12 good senatoriables who are out of prison rather than choose 12 good senatoriables who are in prison.

not withstanding other factors-like comparing them to the other senators, or including gma in the picture.

Now, whether 12 good senatoriables who are out of prison, indeed exists, is another story.

  33. In the media interview with Lim last Saturday before the wedding of Senator Trillanes’ brother, he was asked what if he would suffer the same fate as Sen. Trillanes who has not been allowed to fulfill the people’s mandate because he is detained.

Lim said (this is not verbatim) that his cases, just like Trillanes’ are all politically motivated and it would be resolved in their favor once gloria arroyo is out of power. he expressed confidence that they will be free soon.

  34. Ellen,

Thanks for that post, and I quote:

“Trillanes….has not been allowed to fulfill the people’s mandate because he is detained.”

    May they be freed.
And may they run after they are freed.
    Then I vote.

  35. Al Al

    Siyetehan, I respect your views.

You will get your answers here:http://senator.trillanes.org/

More than what he had accomplished despite his detention, he inspired people to make a stand against cheating, lying and stealing. That’s a major accomplishment.

  36. mabini mabini

    “May they be freed.
And may they run after they are freed.
    Then I vote.”
    ______________________________

When will GMA be out of power and when will Lim run for election?

  37. Al- maraming salamat. will sure to visit the site. it is for us all to review how our elected officials are doing. maging si trillanes man yan o si gloria, etc.

It is a pleasure to have discussed this matters with you.

  38. Al Al

    Siyetehan: “May they be freed.
And may they run after they are freed.
    Then I vote.”

That’s okay. Meanwhile, we support Trillanes and Lim who take risks in making sure that your vote and the vote of every Filipino voter is counted. Unlike what happened in the 2004 elections.

Lim at Col.

  45. siyetehan,
If only to register our indignation over the way the politicos run the country, I’m sure many here will follow me in voting for a full senatorial ticket of cashiered officers who chose to pursue the idealism they nurtured from the day they entered the service. If there will be one such ticket, that is.

These gentlemen (and lady) are true public servants, out to serve the country at the risk of their lives, in contrast with the elite politicos who only use their power to protect the interests of their kind. With these few good men, we can escape this predicament where we select our leaders only on a lesser-evil basis. TINDIGNATION!

Hehehe.

We do agree on so many things, and we are fine disagreeing on some. Di ba, Grizzy?

Going back a bit to the topic, those young ladies are fine examples of the seeds of change, that BGen. Danny Lim refers to as the imperative for a “generational change.”

Uti-uti, nabubuksan ang mata ng mga tao. The Internet, perilous as it is with disinformation, is also a treasure chest of knowledge that the younger generation can use to assess how we never had genuine sovereignty. I agree with those who call this “our aborted nationhood.”

With our local television, the struggle to enlighten the “masa” and the “cappuccino generation,” is an uphill climb. Mesmerized and “zombiesized” by what their producers and advertisers call”entertainment,” couple this with bone-tired “attempts” to put decent food on the table, or finding themselves in that vortex of “never enough, never good enough and never ‘in” enough” culture, then compound this with glitzy ads and movies, mahirap talang ipakita na maraming bagay pa at mga katangian na karapatdapat na mahalin, at igalang sa ating kalahi.

And to stay again on topic, I have my trust in those three young ladies, with fathers like they have, they are the new breed of “nationalists” without necessarily being a claustrophobic racists.

Magandang gabi sa inyong lahat 🙂

To satisfy Siyetehan, why don’t we research on how many bills Sen Trillianes has originated compared to those written by those who are free to go in and out of the senate but have not DONE anything so far kundi papogi-pogi lang!

  54. Mr. Roa, I know that Gen Lim has people reading this blog and relaying to him messages that concerns him.

What kind of Revolutionary Government she intends to lead? I’m sure it would be council of rascals, manipulators, thieves and liars. A bogus president (no peoples’ mandate) has no business to run the government affairs.

  56. thank you very much for the reactions (and the violent ones, as well). this becomes a good avenue for us all to discuss the issues objectively.

first, i repeat my previous note that my issue is not with comparing trillanes (who is in prison) with those senators who are out of prison.

my concern is with having trillanes not “fully” able to perform his duties because he is in prison. pasalamat na nga lang na kahit na nakakulong siya ay may nagagawa pa rin siya- at uulitin ko, limitado, dahil nakakulong siya.

i would go as far as parasabayan has commented: why don’t we research on how many bills has Trillanes done. but I wouldn’t take time comparing what he’s done and what the others have done.

after all- I’ve had enough of the “others”.

thank you all for your comments-this is a learning ground for all who wish to learn.

  67. Liwayway-Gawgaw:

you don’t have to capitalize that. just because other people don’t agree on your idealisms does not make you think that you’re the only one concerned with what is happening in the country.

but just the same, makaasa kang kabutihan din ng bansa ang iniisip ko.

    salamat sa malayang pakikipagtalakayan, kabayan.

    siyetehan,

  69. Ah, so, wala kang iboboto in the place of Lim.

  70. hindi pa pala tapos ito 🙂

if there is an election in 2010 and these people will run for senator, i’d vote for them:

    1. flavier
    2. osmeña (serge)
    3. drilon
    4. randy david (but i heard he’ll fight it off with gma in pampanga.
    5. bf

    11. blank until i see the official candidates’ list and i see a good one.
    12. blank until i see the official candidates’ list and i see a good one.

-you see, i entered this discussion saying i wouldn’t vote for danny lim, and what many of those who reacted against me just tried to bully and bully by saying that i don’t have the right to complain IF I DON’T VOTE.
worse, it is as if not voting for danny lim must be the greatest mistake of my life. 🙂

instead of debating people, i appreciate AL for giving the best positive feedback: and that is to suggest that we look into what trillanes has done despite his being in prison. kung ganyan ang proseso natin sa paghimok sa tao upang bumoto kay Danny Lim at sa ilan pang personalidad na sa tingin natin ay karapat-dapat na iboto, siguro ay mas magiging maayos ang kalalabasan 🙂

  71. Sino ba ang dapat nating iboto? Magandang paksa. Nakakalibang.

  72. Declaring “Failure of Election” is one of the last options.

  73. Al Al

    Thank you, Siyetehan.
