Worse than 2004?

Marichu Maceda shared with members of media a “shocking” conversation with her eight-year old grandson, Max, to underscore how Gloria Arroyo’s cheating of the 2004 elections has destroyed our concept of elections as a tool for good governance and an expression of democracy.

Manay Ichu said Max asked her how to contact “Garci”, former Comelec Commissioner Virgilio Garcillano because he wants him to transfer one million votes to his Lola Gina de Venecia, who will be running as representative for the fourth district of Pangasinan.

Aghast, Manay Ichu said she had to lecture Max on the evils of cheating and the punishment that comes with violating the law and displeasing God. Max, she said, was baffled and asked, “Why is Gloria Arroyo not punished?’

Manay Ichu said she is still looking for a satisfactory answer to Max. That’s why she was at the presscon yesterday organized by the Concerned Citizens Movement on the issues in the 2010 elections automation that has surfaced with the feud between Smartmatic and Total Information Management.

Manay Ichu detailed to the media how Arroyo tampered with the election process starting with the voters list up to elections results. But, she said, “What happened in 2004 is nothing compared to what is going to happen in 2010.”

Lawyer Harry Roque said the quarrel of Smartmatic-TIM, winners of the P7.2 billion election automation contract, has exposed the anomaly that there is no joint venture deal between them as they tried to impress the Comelec.

Roque said he doubts if the two firms would be able to solve their “irreconcilable differences.” He said Comelec should not force the two parties to push through with the joint venture,”Huwag pilitin.

There are different versions of the cause of break-up of Smartmatic and TIM before their union was even formalized. One version says TIM is asking for bigger control in the operation because in case something happens later, they would be included of those that would be held criminally liable. There are talks that TIM asked Smartmatic for additional P500 million share in the payment.

Another version is that a businessman known to be in the inner circle of the Arroyos is muzzling his way into the joint venture as a “carried partner”.

Malaya’s report said a “carried partner” is one who wants to get a piece of the action without contributing a single centavo.
Before the Smartmatic-TIM imbroglio, sources said Mike Arroyo, someone surnamed Aboitiz, and an official of Smartmatic were seen having coffee at the Renaissance Hotel in Makati.

After that meeting, TIM President Jose Mari M. Antunez reportedly got a call from a well-connected businessman for him “to cooperate” so as not to offend “powerful people.”

In yesterday’s presscon Harry Roque expressed concerned about the participation of 2Go, an Aboitiz-owned cargo forwarder, who has been given the contract to transport the 80,000 counting machines all over the country and keep on standby the 1,200 spare machines.

Roque recalled how Arroyo’s men took out the genuine 2004 election returns stored under guard in the Batasan Pambansa and changed them with manufactured ones to match the certificate of canvass they tampered in anticipation of the election protest of FPJ.

Roque said, whoever has custody of those machines determines the result of the 2010 elections. Given the branzenness of Arroyo’s operators, the 2010 elections could be worse than the fraudulent 2004 elections.

Grace Poe appealed to the public to be vigilant saying that it is not just elections that we are fighting for but the future of democracy in our country.

What a very, very BAD example this fake president has ever done to the Filipino children!!! How I wish her own grandchildren will ask similar question to her one of these days. Am sure she’ll give another BIG lie to cover up her shameful act! She has to save her face! Too bad, this kind of leader has no more conscience!!! Pwe!!!

Gina may be a good person but having been married to the tengang daga who also benefitted from the pandak’s tongpats until Joey exposed the ZTE-NBN falling out, Gina is not a picture of a clean politician either. Sorry to say this. It is very difficult to see Gina in a very different light given the fact that she is married to an “enabler”.

This evil regime has bastardized and corrupted all our institutions including many of the social elite.

  6. “…Gina is not a picture of a clean politician either.” We get the best advice from the worst persons.

  7. parasabayan parasabayan

Taxj, people are best judged by their past.

If it is the advice we need, ok lang. Less evil in our political system.

  9. Lito Banayo endorsed the Open Election System that IT expert Gus Lagman and former Comelec Chair Christian Monsod have proposed.

    Banayo:

Two, adopt the Open Election System proposed by Gus Lagman and Christian Monsod who once ran the Commission credibly and creditably, as its chair. It costs less, and all we will need are thousands of personal computers linked to the national main frame of the Comelec. Lagman estimated the cost at 4 billion pesos, with a subsidiary advantage – Comelec can donate the PC’s to the public schools after the elections. The OES means manual voting, similar to before, and manual canvassing via the ER’s, except that consolidation of the BEI-certified ER’s in each precinct is consolidated, based on those ER’s, and canvassed by computer, in full view of watchers and Comelec officials.

Hence, the canvassing, which is where the dagdag-bawas and the Garci, Bedol et al creatures thrive at manipulation, will be made faster, right after the ER’s are accomplished, also in full view of the board of election inspectors and the party and candidate watchers, in situ.

  10. Ellen, when I heard their proposal, I actually thought it was a better system. The votes are actually rigged not at the precinct level since there are local watchers and votes are guarded at that level. The actual dagdag bawas is when the results are transmitted.

I like the donation of the pcs to the schools.

To taunt TT to reveal the entire panorama of the Basque hegemony over Pinoys, my previous post is repeated:
Do I sense a bit of abhorrence by TT of the Basque mestizos? Mestizo, as in Tagalog, is mixed native and foreign ancestry. (The terms mulatto, quadroon, and octoroon originated with the racial policies of European colonizers in the Americas, especially the Spanish. Because civil rights and responsibilities were based directly on the degree of European blood that a person had, such classifications were highly elaborated, and minor distinctions in ancestry were carefully recorded. While these terms have highly precise definitions, in actual practice they were often used based on impressions of skin color rather than definite knowledge of ancestry.
In the Philippine context, a half-breed mestizo had better rights than the pug nosed dark skin Indios, and is a free pass to movie stardom even without talent. That is to me a strong argument to shun mestizos or quadroons and octoroons in the 2010 elections, if ever it transpires. TIM reinforces that argument.

“We believe elections are a good way of renewing democracy,” Ambassador Kristie Kenney said at the embassy’s Fourth of July celebrations, wherein she cited the strong ties and shared history of the Philippines and the United States. A few weeks ago, US Defense Secretary Robert Gates, in Manila for a few hours, also said Washington expected the Philippine elections to push through as scheduled in May 2010.
She mercifully omitted that one fundamental essence of democracy is not in the voting but in the counting.

  13. Makikipag-meeting daw si BO sa end of the year kay pandak per Ambassador Kenney. Ano kaya ang pag-uusapan nila? Baka yung mamanukin nilang dalawa sa elections. Lulutuin na naman nila.

    Ellen,

  17. “Why is Gloria Arroyo not punished?” asked the grandson.

“Because of your stupid Lolo”, says TonGuE-tWisTeD.

  18. Aboitiz Corp. has denied reports that the Antunez (TIM owner) family and the Aboitizes are related. Perhaps this was in response to Inquirer’s and Abante’s news where Rep. Teddy Casiño revealed that Julio Antunes, brother of Jose Mari Antunez (TIM’s President) was married into the Aboitiz family.

Casiño said, “We have to look into how TIM entered into the picture and who brokered their joint venture with Smartmatic especially since the brother of TIM’s Antunez, Julio is married into the Aboitiz who are known to be close to FG and First Family”.

I don’t know if Julio is really married into the Aboitiz clan. What I DO KNOW is that Julio Antunez is a VP of Aboitiz Corp.

This old clipping of a Column by Taby Tabaniag where it was reported that my officemate, Mars Pastor, made a hole-in-one in the Cebu Country Club leg of Johnnie Walker Classic Cup, says it all.

  19. PSB: If it is the advice we need, ok lang. Less evil in our political system.

    *****

  20. Na bulls-eye mo Tongue! Nanalo si pandak dahil kay tengang daga. Now his grandson is trying to right the wrong. If we have short memories, pwede pa. But we will never forget that the tengang daga is the biggest “enabler” of pandak!

  21. Thanks, Tongue for the info.

I know I have read Antunez’ name somewhere, at the time I was researching about Meralco vs. The Mafia. I kept the link on my folders because I saw there the name of Mars Pastor, a Cebuano who is a Branch Manager in Davao of the first company I worked with.

The Aboitizes are denying familial relationship with Antunez, which may be true, what they are silent is about their professional relationship. It won’t fly, buking natin sila.

  23. From Roderick Arenas:

In a case of Flash Drive para rin nating daladala ang balota same as Balot boxes na manggagaling sa ibat ibang province.

Bakit poh natin gawing Online or directly record counting to the server. you can used PLDT DSL, Smart Brodband and Globe Brodband for three days.

Kung IT po talaga sila maraming paraan para gawing sa maximum security ang isang PCOS nila online counting even province if vote in 10 -50 sec is counting my vote.
isa pa poh not means Online you can vote to internet nope. you can go to the precent of your brgy that have PCOS nila.

    salamat poh
