President Arroyo has recalled the appointment of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Affairs Esteban Conejos Jr. as Philippine representative to the United Nations in Geneva after the Union of Foreign Service Officers (UNIFORS) said his appointment violated foreign service rules. The union also said the appointment was “grossly insensitive” in view of the country’s economic difficulties.
But in what foreign service officers see as a retaliatory move, Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo also relieved UNIFORS president Victoria Bataclan of her position as assistant secretary for European Affairs.
Press Secretary Cerge Remonde said Arroyo has recalled Conejos’s appointment which she signed on Sept 3. Conejos was supposed to leave for Geneva immediately in time for the Nov. 19 retirement of Ambassador Erlinda Basilio, the current representative to Geneva.

Why doesn’t Gloria Macapagal “withdraw” herself from Malacanang instead?
We wonder, what’s the hold of Conejos on Secretary Romulo that he seems to have put all decency away to insist on the former’s appointment when it is clear it violates foreign service rules and good sense.

sayang ang mga magagaling nating mga foreign service employees, gaya ng mga magigiting nating mga sundalo na hindi umaangat sa posisyon dahil hindi malapit sa mga naghaharing uri.

Lubao mayors want GMA to become their congresswoman when GMA withdraws from Malacanang next year.
Pepito, baka akala ng mga Lubao mayors ay forever na mamumudmod sa kanila ng nakaw na pera si Gloria.
Ano’ng Lubao mayors? Isa lang ang mayor ng Lubao, si Dennis Pineda – anak ng jueteng, inaanak ni Gloria. Hindi naman City ang Lubao para magkaroon ng sariling Congressman. Hindi rin niya kailangan ang pera ni Gloria, marami ang Nanay (Lilia) at Tatay (Bong) niya nun.

Isa nga lang ang meyor ng Lubao at ang Lubao ay isa lang bayan ng Pampanga. Hindi rin puwedeng isama ang Cubao dahil ‘yun ay nasa Quezon City. Pero, tama ka. Kailangan nila sa Lubao si gloria para may proteksiyon sa “negosyo” ng kanyang pamilya.
