Langkit (PMA class ’95), who is detained at Fort Bonifacio, was allowed last week by the Armed Forces of the Philippines to leave his detention cell to file his certificate of candidacy.

Langkit is facing mutiny charges for allegedly planning to withdraw support from Gloria Arroyo together with 27 other officers in February 2006 following the expose of the “Hello Garci” tapes which revealed that Arroyo used the military to tamper the results of the 2004 elections to her favor.

Thinking that they could break Langkit’s will, his custodians put him in a solitary confinement for 10 months, the longest that an officer was subjected to such harsh condition.Langkit held firm to his convictions.

The Supreme Court decision yesterday that government employees are not considered resigned filed when they file their certificate of candidacy favors Langkit. (See Govt execs need not quit after filing of COCs)

Acedillo (PMA Class ’99), meanwhile, has left the military service. He was detained for more than five years for his participation in the so-called Oakwood mutiny on July 27, 2003, when together with 300 soldiers, they took over the Oakwood Hotel in the Makati Commercial Center to make a stand against the misgovernance of Arroyo and demanded for her resignation.

Since his release, Acedillo has been involved with a governance reform institute – the Institute for Solidarity in Asia – where he oversaw the training on good governance for 25 local government units (LGUs).

He briefly rejoined government service in July of this year when he was designated Deputy Chief of Staff at the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP). He resigned at the end of October to prepare for his candidacy.

Unveiling what he hoped would be a shared vision for the city, Acedillo hopes to push for a long-term plan to convert Cebu into the “Queen City of Southeast Asia” by 2025, built on a platform of Godliness, social justice, unity, order and discipline, entrepreneurship, and concern for the less fortunate.

He also put forward a 7-point agenda to address the concerns of his local constituency, as well as the national interest. Asked what he had to offer the residents of the city’s north district, Acedillo hopes to make available: (1) livelihood, housing, medical and other emergency assistance; (2) priority funding for free elementary, high school and technical-vocational education; (3) other priority projects for the district under the Priority Development Assistance Fund; and (4) empowerment of the barangay through the Barangay Development Council.

This, while he pursues the national interest through (1) positive and enlightened legislation, (2) advocacy for a service-oriented, transparent, accountable and trustworthy governance, and (3) the continuing fight for change and reform.

Two other Magdalo officers who are running in the 2010 elections are Navy Ltsg James Layug for representative of the 2nd district of Taguig and Marine Capt. Gary Alejano for mayor of Sipalay, Negro Occidental.

Both Layug and Alejano are still in detention in Camp Crame together with Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV.

Let’s put in the Magdalo guys in all elective positions. Tapatan ang karumal-dumal na Arroyos at tulad nila hanggang makamit ang tunay na pagbabago.

    Good luck to you guys!

“hanggang makamit ang tunay na pagbabago” — chi
Amen.

I support Dante Langkit. He is one of the more decent officers I know in the service. Likewise with Layug and Acedillo. Definitely, Gen LIM is a GO for us.

Am now ready for FACTUAL discourse should anybody try to muddle issues. NO tsismis. Only facts. Verifiable facts.

Bring it on. Make my day. Just like before. hehehehe

Sa dati ka pa rin ba?

Natuloy ba ‘yung promotion ni Nognog? Sasala ang kutsara sa mangkok ng pulutan, pero hindi ang sigurado akong kasama ka rin sa mga na-promote.

    Thanks Ate Ellen.

MPR: I lost my password. Everytime I log in, di makapasok until such time I received an emailed PW 3 days ago. Ganun pala yun kadali. Maybe it has been there for awhile kaya lang di ko napapansin kasi hindi ako computer savvy. I think it has something to do with the new format of Ate Ellen. I really don’t know. Bago ang PW ko and I can’t even memorize it. Papano ba palitan balik sa dati?

    Promoted na si Nognog.
