Tiger’s world is crashing down; dropped as Accenture spokesman

When it rains, it pours.

From US Magazine

We know what it takes to be a Tiger
We know what it takes to be a Tiger
Two days after announcing he’ll take an indefinite break from the sport of golf to focus on his marriage, Tiger Woods has lost his first major endorsement deal as a result of his alleged infidelities.

Global consulting firm Accenture announced they were cutting all ties with Woods Sunday, confirming he is “no longer the right representative” after the “circumstances of the last two weeks.” Woods served as pitchman for the last six years, appearing in the company’s “Go ahead, be a Tiger” ad campaign.

However, another of Woods’ major backers, Nike, is willing to retain him as a spokesman.

“Tiger has been part of Nike for more than a decade. He is the best golfer in the world and one of the greatest athletes of his era. We look forward to his return to golf,” the sportswear and equipment supplier tells Usmagazine.com in a statement. “He and his family have Nike’s full support.”

On Friday, Woods stunned the sports world by announcing he would be taking a break from golf to save his marriage to Swedish supermodel Elin Nordegren. Over the past two weeks, no fewer than 13 women have alleged affairs with Woods, dad to daughter Sam, 2, and son Charlie, 10 months.

“I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children,” Woods said in the statement posted on his Web site.

“I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and person,” he said. “It may not be possible to repair the damage I’ve done, but I want to do my best to try.”

Woods’ status with consumers has dropped from sixth to 24th on a list of celebrity endorsers, according to Bloomberg.

On Saturday, one of Woods’ other major sponsors, Gillette, announced they will phase the golfer out of its advertising. The Procter & Gamble company was the first to distance themselves from Woods, who last appeared in a primetime TV ad for Gillette on Nov. 29.

“As Tiger takes a break from the public eye, we will support his desire for privacy by limiting his role in our marketing programs,” a company spokesman said.

Woods earns around $110 million a year from endorsements and tournaments, with Nike, Gillette and Pepsi among the top endorsers.

Tiger needs professional help. His is a sex addiction case. .Kapareho ng bidang lalaki doon sa X-Files. . .

  3. An oversexed black athlete who got himself in trouble ‘cuz he doesn’t know how to cover his tracks. Why does Pilipinas even care?

I hope u won’t mind. It’s Mam Ellen’s own blog. She can post whatever topic for discussion she deems fit. . .If you don’t like it, just don’t post. Thanks. . .

  6. henry90: You are playing “Mr boy scout Knight-in-shining-armor”. Your action, of course, is A-okay, but allow me to point out that Ellen has never really said that the only comments she wants to see posted on her blogsite are those comments from yes-boys and yes-girls who sing paean high praises to Ellen’s insights. Come on! Ellen is a journalist she says so. Live real-action journalism needs people of grit who can mix it up with others who take irritating, aggravating, non-agreeing positions. Like Ellen will (in my opinion) accept a blog-comment entry from, say, Manny Villar or even one of the Arroyo children.

Lastly, there is “owner’s privilege”. Ellen can always delete or make changes to any and all comments posted on her blogsite.

A manager of an escort agency was interviewed last night at a cable news and she said that Tiger has been ordering girls, not one but usually in group, on weekends costing him around $60K per/week. It’s been Tiger’s “hobby’ even before she met the wife, the manager said. The agency has records and tapes of Tiger’s orders, she added.

May nagtrigger, and one by one, they are coming out in the open.

    Mam Ellen,

Sorry for out of topic..but next time in your blog can you elaborate this news:

Detained military officers figure in scuffle…between Queribun and Major. Aquino. Nakakalungkot ito!

  14. Kay Tiger pa rin ako sa golf – Chi

Me, too. While I remained a TW fan, I truly feel bad for Tiger’s wife and both of their families having to put up with the media frenzy. Ganyan din ang nangyari kay Manny Pacquiao. His historic triumph in boxing was dimmed by news of his liaison with Krista.

My hope is that everyone involved will get past this and that Tiger can go back to what he does best, GOLF.

The price of fame and fortune.

TW is golf. Bigger than golf and the biggest draw on weekends when he is in contention. A big draw like Pakyaw.

He’s got four months to think this over and by then he should be ready for the Masters in April 2010. Once he starts winning, everything will be forgotten and forgiven by many (there’s always remnants of antagonists that will make his womanizing an issue).

Sponsors dumping him will be the losers when he comes back rejuvenated especially when he gets close to breaking the Golden Bear’s record.

Btw, I never liked TW but I loved for him to beat the crap of most of them in every tournament he is in.

  21. Buick is Pissed That Tiger Crashed a Cadillac.TW won the Buick Invititional so many times and they’re wondering why the Tiger was driving a Cadillac. It should have been a Buick that bounced off the hydrant and hit the tree.Buick could have shown how sturdy the car is and what a mess it made of the hydrant. Now, TW PR manager is ironing a deal with the Buick that TW will drive a “Car Crash” test.

  22. In reference to number 3 Tingog Boss “Why does Pilipinas even care?”

Tiger Woods is no perfect guy and he made billions out of being such a role model. You have no idea how big of a name he is here in the US and how kids look up to him. It’s called BOGUS. And it’s not right.

Now. Why does Pilipinas even care? He’s bogus. I said. Getz?! Bogus people should be rejected.

  23. Oblak Oblak

These celebrities/sport persons as role models are creations of PR and media. They extol the sport persons in every triumph as if winning is the only virtue needed to become a role model. In my generation and to a lesser extent, it was Magic Johnson.

  25. Golf in Shock as Tiger takes indefinite leave

LONDON (AP)—Tiger Woods’ decision to take “an indefinite break” to repair his marriage was greeted with surprise, bemusement and even relief Saturday as golfers, fans and commentators contemplated the immediate future of a sport without its biggest draw.

  26. All those holes and Tiger’s killer birdie! Golf is a stupid game. It’s the only sport where you wash your balls after a round.

  27. Tongue T

With 18 holes to contend with in every round, you just don’t practice and focus in one hole. Has to go from one hole to another to enhance your game.

GENEVA (AP)—Swiss watch maker Tag Heuer said Monday it will continue its association with Tiger Woods despite the golfer’s alleged infidelities.

Company spokeswoman Mariam Sylla said the sponsorship is unchanged because Woods remains the world’s best golfer and Tag Heuer does not care about his private life.

  28. A blogger’s comment in another site:

We keep confusing Tiger Woods as a golfer with Tiger Woods as a person, much less a so-called role model. Tiger is a golfer, a very good golfer, and that’s it. He never expects people to look up to him as a role model for their kids. At the end of the day, all he cares about are his fame and money.

For that matter, athletes are to be admired only for their sporting excellence, and not at all for their behavior outside sports. We should not pass our responsibility of being role models to our kids onto others. We are just creating an illusion for ourselves and our kids. Let’s wake up to this fact of life – there are no role models to be created more than what we imagine or what media keep on creating from mere mortals such as athletes and celebrities.

The Trio are also “barat” when it comes to facing up to their transgressions. Kobe Bryant wanted “it” free; he could just dropped 50grand in that room and who knows, his image would be still clean. Pakyaw needs to support his bastards if proven it’s his; just be a man like a boxer. TW is well known in the gambling world of his refusal not to tip, I don’t blame him – talagang may taong barat in some ways, that’s why they’re super rich.
