Padaca struggles to keep faith in government

Will be away for five months
The smile vanishes as soon as soon as she hears a deafening roar across the Abuan River in Isabela province.

“I hate that sound,” former Isabela governor Grace Padaca says. “They’re really back.”

“They” are hatcheros or chainsaw operators who are indeed back in business, cutting age-old trees at the northern Sierra Madre.

It’s not only the return of the illegal loggers that worries Padaca, whose reform movement “Kaya Natin”—which includes Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo and former Pampanga Governor Ed Panlilio—supported President Benigno Aquino III in the last election. She doesn’t see the reforms promised by the President during the campaign being fulfilled.

my favorite governor! You mean well and we appreciates your effort. More power to you Mam.

One of the very few women I admire and respect, Gov. Grace Padaca. Let’s cross our fingers that after PNoy had adjusted and settled his presidential chair we would see implementation of his campaign promises as mentioned here by the lady governor.

i really feel sad kapag may nababalitaan akong nalalapastangan ang kalikasan…

  5. My sentiments exactly…although i do not pressume to strongarm the president to do what he has to do…i really pray that he steps up to the challenge of his position…if he only sees his job as black and white only, nothing in between and takes the moral high ground, be aware of the powers of his office, and wield it…
…unfortunately i can see that he is always on the defensive, when he should act like the most powerful man in the country and mount an offensive…if he doesn’t see this, they will be paralyzed to do anything because they are always going to be caught off balance, and while trying to regain it, the other forces will be free to do whatever they want…he must consider studying judo…
…i pray that he realizes that being single, with no family of his own, he should have no weak spots that anyone else can exploit…his friends, if they really are true friends, should be his shield bearers, and not the other way around…
…as a lawyer friend of mine said, “whats he afraid of, he doesn’t have to worry about popularity, he’s only there for one term?”
…we only live once, i only hope that Noynoy realizes soon enough that he’s been given this opportunity and power to make a change…he only has to learn to wield this power and make the best out of his six years…
…then again, thats the problem with being single and unattached (seriously) also…because all you need is just one woman who truely loves you – and you can move mountains…

“….Despite the many missteps of the new administration, Padaca is still hopeful that the President will be able to govern effectively and immediately address pressing issues …”

Ms. Grace Padaca is not alone there. Many of those that voted for PNoy is earnestly hoping that he will govern effectively and not saddled by the BFFs that are now surrounding him.
I just hope that Ms. Padaca will be given a chance by PNoy to serve the government again and I also hope she will not suffer the same fate as Robredo had experienced with PNoy.

The ex-governor is not alone in her campaign for the betterment of the country and the future generations. She could be a good DENR
CEO if given a chance by PNoy.

Enrile denuded the mountains of Cagayan Valley. May nagreklamo ba? That is how he bacame rich. Now, he is turning Santa Ana Cagayan into a mini-casino haven. This is how powerful people stay powerful. The Dy family is a dynasty in Isabela. Nothing different from the Enriles of Cagayan. But I heard that Padaca may also have a Dy blood. I do not know how true that is.

Certainly, I would like to see her in a cabinet position in the Aquino admin. So with Gov Panlilio. Both of them had done good as governors kaya nga lang MONEY was more powerful than the capability to govern. Both of them lost to the deep pocketed ones, a jueteng queen (Pineda) and the rich clan (Uy).

The Philippine style of politics, popularity and money seem to be the yardsticks. The capability to serve and solve the problems of the people come at the bottom of the list. So, sorry na lang muna tayo coz until we have elevated our economic conditions, we will have more voters who, at election time, would rather go for the one who can buy their votes at a higher price. So, folks, reality is, a politician will always be corrupt coz he barely sat and he will be in debt up to his eye balls coz of the vote buying. I saw this practice with my own eyes, not just in one place but in about 80 % of the places I travelled to during the campaign. Very sad…

Our leaders will always be a descendant of a rich clan or a CORRUPT clan. Until we educate the people otherwise, we will continue to have a corrupt government.

Jug, thanks, at least you are removing your blinders and can see the faults of Pnoy. I want Pnoy to succeed. But he has to have a better pick of the people surrounding him. Sa ngayon, I only see de Lima as the only qualified cabinet member and of course Robredo who is in an office without a leg and an arm. Pnoy put him in a position but Robredo can not move the way he should. Even one of his diplomatic crew (Mislang) who was so taklesa was defended by Pnoy. Sana man lang sinabi ni Pnoy that he would look into the matter rather than outrightly defending her actions in Vietnam.

A classic, classic example of someone who’s only goal is good governance in her home province…yet evil politics transcends, causing her the governorship for a third time.

sa malakanyang, Gluerilla stepped down on her…huweteng prospers.

I really feel for her griefs but godspeed and by gods grace, she lives longer than those thieves around her.

perl: for me this is not surprising…sad to say in the Phil.(kaya rin dito sa US) money talks…and travels a long long way…it is the road most taken and not less travelled..materialism is US business…
