May napipintong pagkukulang sa bigas at ang kanyang solusyon ay magkaroon ng kalahati na order ng kanin sa mga fast food. Galing , no?

Nangangailangan ang Pilipinas ng 1.8 milyon na tonelada ng bigas at hirap na hirap makahanap ng mabilhan ang pamahalaang Arroyo. Nasa balita kahapon na nakabili na raw sila ng 335,000 na toneladang bigas galing sa Thailand, Vietnam at Pakistan. Kulang pa rin yun.

Detained Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV yesterday said that aside from the joint marine seismic study in the Spratly islands, the Arroyo government also entered into an oil exploration agreement with China in April 2006 that would cover the Calamian Islands in Palawan.

“The government of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is again lying to the Filipino people. Contrary to their claim, the Macapagal administration has actually entered into an oil exploration agreement with China not only involving Kalayaan Group of Islands (Spratlys), but within undisputed Philippine territory,” Trillanes said.

Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap yesterday asked fast-food outlets to offer half portions of rice to discourage wastage as government scrambles to boost rice supplies.

“We would like to exercise all efforts at ensuring the Philippines rice stocks continue to be maintained at a manageable level to ensure that the food security of the country will be maintained,” he said.

Cardinal Ricardo Vidal, archbishop of Cebu, has reportedly prohibited priests from celebrating today’s “Mass for Truth” at the University of San Carlos which ZTE star witness Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada is scheduled to attend.

Sr. Estrella Castalone, executive secretary of Association of Major Religious Superiors in the Philippines (AMRSP), in a phone interview, said Judy Adriano, their organizer in Cebu City, told her “that the priests have been prohibited from saying the mass for our group by Cardinal Vidal.”

An injustice that must be rectified

On Sept. 25, 2006, 1Lt. Artemio Raymundo Jr., was riding the LRT and he saw someone distributing DVDs of “Ang Mabuhay para sa Masa” and “At All Costs”. Since it was for free, he got six copies and upon arriving at the Marine barracks in Fort Bonifacio, he shared the extra copies with his fellow junior officers.

The two CDs are documentaries. “Ang Mabuhay para sa Masa” is a biopic of former President Estrada while “At All Costs” is about the rigging by Gloria Arroyo of the 2004 elections.

BEIJING (Reuters) – Chinese officials have declared a “people’s war” of security and propaganda against support for the Dalai Lama in Tibet after riots racked the regional capital Lhasa, and some sources claimed the turmoil killed dozens.

Sa rally na inorganisa ng mga estudyante noong Biyernes sa Liwasang Bonifacio, marami sa mga speakers ang nanawagan na sa kanilang pagbalik sa kani-kanilang probinsya ngayong bakasyon, ipagpatuloy nila ang paghanap ng katotohanan at hustisya na siyang pakay ng mga kilos protesta nitong mga nakaraang linggo at buwan laban kay Gloria Arroyo.

Sinabi rin ng mga batang mga speakers na huwag masyadong magkampante si Arroyo at ang kanyang mga opisyal na libre na sila sa kanilang krimen laban sa sambayanang Pilipino. Sa kanilang bakasyon, ipapaliwanag nila sa kanilang mga kamag-anak at kaibigan ang pinaglalaban dito sa Maynila.

A US investment fund, Ashmore, has bought Saudi Aramco’s 40 percent stake in Petron Corp. for P22.5 billion. The deal is nobody’s business but Ashmore and Aramco’s. Gloria Arroyo, however, would not leave a presumably purely commercial transaction well alone. She said the purchase validated the government’s privatization efforts and was a vote of confidence in Petron.
