Armida Siguion-Reyna and son Carlitos celebrate their birthdays on the same day.
Last night they had a joint celebration at the White Space in Makati. Armida was the star, beautiful at 79, in her Aawitan Kita attire. Carlitos preferred to be in the background attending to the guests with wife, Bibeth Orteza.
Members of their families were there. I can only identify Armida’s husband, Atty. Leonardo Siguion Reyna; Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile; grand daughter Monique Villonco, sister Irma Pontenciano.
Guests were a merry mix of people from different sectors of society where Armida and Carlitos have made their mark.
Jon Santos, performing as Armida de la Reyna was a joy to watch. Willy Nep added more fun as She’erap’.
Imelda Marcos was there early. Children Bongbong and wife Liza and Irene with husband Greggy Araneta came later.

I was in the table with Jun Lozada of the NBN/ZTE controversy, Inquirer columnist Conrad de Quiros, TV host Che-Che Lazaro, activists Carol Araullo and husband, and Renato Reyes, Rene Lara, National Artist Bien Lumbera.
I saw another National Artist, movie director Eddie Romero. There was also Gloria Arroyo’s national artist Pitoy Moreno (his title as well as that of five others have been stopped by the Supreme Court.)
I saw also singer Bangge Mabanta, fellow member of I- Can- Serve, our group of cancer survivors together with Bibeth. Bangge came with Bimbo Cerrudo and other Aawitan Kita alumni. I spotted soprano Rochelle Gerodias.
As expected, there were lots of movie people, mostly the production genuises like directors Jose Javier Reyes, Joel Lamangan, Gil Portes. Writer Pete Lacaba arrived late with wife Mara and son, Kris. Actress and director Gina Alajar and scriptwriter Raquel Villavicencio were with them.
Glad to see Malaya Features editor Mario Hernando, whom I haven’t seen for ages. There was also Mario Dumaual of ABS-CBN.
From the political world, aside from Senate president Juan Ponce-Enrile, I saw former Senate President Ernie Maceda and Rep. Teddy Boy Locsin.
I was told Chiz Escudero was there early but he must have left early because I didn’t see him.
Maganda talaga ang ninang Susan ni Chiz kaya crush na crush siya ni Gunggong Gonzales. Kung pagtabihin ang blown-up photos ni Susan at Gloria Arroyo, siguradong magmumukhang supermaid ang unana.

I was looking at her face, her features have changed. He lips are thicker. She probably had it fixed to imitate that of Angelina Jolie.
I got just a few pictures because my cell phone’s battery was gasping.
I didn’t see Teddy talking with Imelda.They were seated across each other, not beside each other, anyway. Teddy and wife came late and only the table where Imelda sat had available seats.
When I was taking the photo, Teddy tried to stay away from the camera screen. He was amused.
His friends, Carol Araullo and Bien Lumbera, were also amused when I showed the picture.
Bakit naman hindi yata invited si Gloria and Mike?
As always maganda pa rin si Armida. The last time I saw her up close and personal was in the early 1990s.
Ala-Angelina Jolie pala ang mukhang ambisyon ni Gretchen, pansin ko nga…kaya lang nagmukha siyang Joan Rivers, Jr. Hindi ko na makita ang ganda niya noong araw.
Armida ages gracefully.
Yung unana Gloria senior citizen na pero nagpa-doble pa ng dede at nagpa-reconstruct ng kanya, hehehe. Sobrang insecure sa sarili. Sabagay e pangit naman siya talaga sa labas pero mas pangit sa loob.
Nung presscon ni Chiz kung saan nag-announce siya ng pagresign sa NPC, Bibeth was prominently seen onstage and was giving interviews with the media.
Alam naman nating Magdalo supporters din ang asawa niyang si Carlitos at biyenan kaya pihadong Chiz campaigners din sila.

Yung kay Angelina perfect dahil natural, gaya din nung plump lips nina Scarlet Johanssen, Jessica Alba, Julia Roberts at Eva Mendes. (halata ba’ng lips fetish ko?)

Nabasa ko ang article ni Armida tungkol dyan. Yung mag-asawa ay kay Chiz pero hinding-hindi raw niya iiwan si Erap. Madali namang maintindihan kung bakit. Bilib ako kay Armida pagdating sa suporta sa kanyang mga kaibigan.

JPE’s tribute to Armida was fun. He said he used to be the escort/driver of Armida when she was going to parties. “Madaming manliligaw,” JPE said.

I like the relationship of JPE and Armida. Nagmamahalan talaga silang mag-step. Some families do not have that kind of relationship.

But take a look at what is happening now. What Cecile Alvarez did, making herself national artist trashing the law and ethics, is most indecent.

what i love with Armeda is her support to the Filipino art and music. I used to listen to her program inn the late evening which rendering kudiman song. The customs were barong taglog and barot saya. It reminisce our oldies year.
I don’t if my cousin attended that party, because he is Bibeth’s friend. I remember years ago that Bibeth called me and asking of Danton Remoto contact, which she got my no from yellow page.
I love Armida’s spunk.
