Mahabaging Dios, patigilin mo na si Sen. Sotto

Tito Sotto

“Few will have the greatness to bend history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total of all those acts will be written the history of this generation.”

“It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped.”

“Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.”

si joey de leon, is he ashamed of tito sotto’s backward views on women and reproductive health? alam kong pro-gay marriage yang si joey eh, so liberal yan!

Hahahahaha!

  3. chi chi

Funny at nakakakalbo na article you got there, Ellen.

Di ba itong si Hector Villacorta ay supposed to be an ‘ancient’ newsman?

it is getting so boring listening to Senator Sotto, but somehow entertaining as he further exposes his ignorance…yet not unlike our own City Mayor who who’s job is now in the hands of the Judge for Conflict of interest, which has none of Senator Sotto Plagiarized eloquence, yet is always ready to rumble..(he is physically humongous) but during his trial, the lawwyer who filed the case on behalf of a citizen called him Ignorant of his own Law, the municipal law on conflict of interest…the issue in question is the $3100 contribution by a lobbyist to the Football Coaching foundation which was established by the Mayor long before he was elected at the time when he war running 2 years ago..the Integrity commissiner told him that it was a Conflict, but Stubborn always, he said it was for the Kids..otherwise he is a very good Mayor, did all he promised to do and even has his own radio show for loss weight contest with his also overweight brother…no dice…and here is the story from the Paper that the Mayor Blacklisted, including its reporters…

“I am so proud of Canada for being such a progressive nation — we’ve accepted divorce, abortion and same sex marriage,” Nagui Morcos wrote in his farewell letter. “It is now time for us to do the humane thing and embrace choice for the terminally ill to have medical assistance to end their life when it has become unbearable. I now pass the torch to you, my dearest family and friends, to do the right thing and change this so that you and your loved ones will have more choice than I did

The next issue on the Agenda of the Nation…Assisted Suicide…right now it is still illegal..this case was investigated by the Prosecutors and no charges were laid as it was well planned not to tresspass the law but Testing the Water…it is now being done but not yet challenged in court and every one seems shy to touch the issue…but soon it will get into the consciousness of the nation as did the Abortion rights, the same sex marriage and all its accompanying benifit same as traditional marriage and it will be discussed, debated and once again, will divide and re-unite us again…

Hindi naman daw kinopya, itrinanslate lang, he,he,he. Robert Kennedy. Ang masama pa pa kay Sen. Eskalera, mayabang pa. Namimilosopo pa at pilit na sinasabing hindi plagiarized yung speeches niya. The problem with jokers is that they get elected.

  8. Mike Mike

Don’t expect colleagues of Sen. Eskalera to censure or to reprimand him. Asa pa kayo, 😛

“Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, Sotto’s fellow reproductive health (RH) bill critic, said, “Hindi ko na papatulan ‘yon.”

    ———

“I think it’s a storm in a teacup,” Marcos told reporters on Thursday. “I don’t really think it’s an issue that should concern the Senate too much.”

Marcos also doubts if Sotto indeed committed plagiarism.

“Some phrases that have been coined by some speakers have entered the general lexicon of the English language. They no longer need to be attributed because they belong to the English language and not to one person alone,” he said.”

    ————

“Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada, meanwhile, said it’s up to Sotto to investigate the matter.

“It’s internal on their part,” he said, referring to Sotto’s office. “I have no business meddling in the affairs of other senators.”

Haysssss!!!!

Ngayon, iba na! Ipapa-sotto na! 😛

  11. Aurore de Breizh Aurore de Breizh

    HAHAHAHAH!

Ellen, I could very well imagine you na ngitngit na ngitngit as you wrote this column.

I read somewhere that he equated the RH Bill to violation of Philippines sovereignty rights. Perhaps, because the “fashion” is to uphold sovereignty rights, Sotto’s logic dictated that he follow the trend hehehe.

Hector Villacorta is being arrogant. What’s wrong with citing the authors of the passages. It would help show to voters that Mr Sotto is possibly a voracious reader…

    😀

Got this from yesterday’s breaking news

SENATE, PH. 09/06/2012 4:25pm. As a sign of humility and in upholding the spirit of fair play, Sen. Vicente C. Sotto III has moved to strike out in his RH Bill turno en contra speeches yesterday all paragraphs that contain Pilipino words..

Sen. Sotto is seen to be remorseful. However, he has declined to issue a statement as he was unable to speak with his continued face-palm gesture.

Senate staffers already have been busy removing such contents from the most talked about and maligned speeches of the senator. It turned out that the speeches now contained unintelligible English words prompting the Senate President to recommend that the Senate records in yesterday’s session be shredded and thrown away.

More on this story later as the rest of the senators have an ongoing discussion of the Unproductive Filth Bill sponsored by Sen. Sotto.

  13. saxnviolins saxnviolins

    Isa akong dunkin donut.

  14. baycas2 baycas2

    News ticker…

“There is no truth to the rumor that Xerox stocks tumbled and debts mounted due to the emergence of the Sotto trademark.”

    News Anchorperson:

“I guess it will take a lot more Sotto speeches to really make a dent on Xerox. But at the rate Sotto and Co. is moving with their fast-paced R&D (research and development), HP, Canon, Sharp and Brother will surely be having jitters right now.”

  15. saxnviolins saxnviolins

Begging to differ. Nagsalin, hindi nangopya.

So it is the software google translate that is in jeopardy.

    Overheard in The Office…

  17. Ellen, I think Sotto (can’t even call him Senator) and Villacorta are already doing this “copying” things deliberately. They had seen that by doing so, Sotto becomes controversial and tops the social media. As in show biz lingo, bad publicity is still publicity, and its free.

Whenever we stand for a belief, when we act to improve the lives of others, when we resist injustice, we create small movement. When nagkasama together the ripple moves them, they constitute a powerful force can knock even the strongest walls of oppression.

    Ito naman ang kay RFK:

Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

Note the colegiala English of google when nagkasama together as in sama-sama together. These guys are really cool. Of course, glitch lang yan.

  21. saxnviolins saxnviolins

    More fun.

Wow. Walang takot mga ripples. Walisin ang mightiest pader ng pang-aapi.

Sinong programmer niyan? Si Kris Aquino?

Kilig to the bones. Let’s make tambay in the kanto, make tusok-tusok the fishballs, and make tagay-tagay the beer.

— Baycas

Hihihi… New expression in the Tagalog dialect heh!

  24. Lurker Lurker

Ayaw pa kasing umamin sa kamalian at kayabangan niya, ayan lumulubog tuloy nang mas malalim.

What kind of staff does Sotto have? They should all be fired for incompetence.

  25. Jojo Jojo

Walang originality.

  27. You can take a stand against plagiarism (a.k.a. lying, cheating, theft and fraud) by signing the petition on change.org “1 Million Signatures in 30 Days to OUST Tito Sotto from the Philippine Senate” (see http://www.change.org/petitions/1-million-signatures-in-30-days-to-oust-tito-sotto-from-the-philippine-senate).

In 2011 and 2012, the following government officials had the integrity to resign from the high posts due to allegations of plagiarism: the president of Hungary (see http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/apr/02/hungarian-president-resigns-doctorate-plagiarism), Education Minister of Romania (see http://www.romania-insider.com/romanias-education-minister-resigns-amid-plagiarism-accusations/57337/), and defense Minister of Germany (see http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/mar/01/german-defence-minister-resigns-plagiarism).
Since Sen. Sotto doesn’t seem to have the same level of integrity (if any), we can urge him to acquire it.
