Inquirer report: Neri inclined to go with President
‘The President is my superior,’ he says

Romulo Neri, ex-economic planning secretary, and a key resource person in the national broadband network contract between the government and the ZTE Corp. of China, is inclined to accept the advisory of the Department of Foreign Affairs to go with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to the United States.
“I have been advised by the DFA that I may be needed to help in the Millenium Development Challenge,” said Neri Monday, responding to Cagayan Representative Rufus Rodriguez’s question about his impending US trip.
“The President, Madame Chair, ur Your honors is my superior, and as I said I will do whatever is legally required, I don’t want to break any law, and I guess if instructed to go, and it’s a legal order, I may have to follow it,” said Neri who attended the budget hearing at the House of Representatives.
But at the same time, Neri said that he would “come back in time.” “As I’ve said I’ve promised to attend given the constraints that I have.”
Neri is scheduled to testify Wednesday before the Senate investigating the allegedly anomalous NBN agreement. He was set to attend the inquiry last week but could not make it due to health reasons.
The President, who leaves for the US Tuesday, will attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Earlier on Monday, Neri said that his trip to the US was a “possibility” when first sought for his response by Bayan Muna Representative Teodoro Casiño on reports of his impending US trip.
Before the budget hearing, Neri was even more non-committal when he told INQUIRER.net that he would still have to think about whether to accept the DFA advice.
A source, who requested anonymity, told INQUIRER.net that Neri was asked to go with the President to the US.
Opposition Senator Panfilo Lacson said he had the same information.
When asked to comment, Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye said he would still have to check the information but at the same time dismissed the reports as “probably kuryente [false].”
“This woman certainly knows how to hide the truth. Worse, she has absolutely no pretentions how she does it,” Lacson said, referring to the President.
Senate Minority Floor Leader Aquilino Pimentel Jr. urged Neri to turn down the invitation.
“If Neri lets [Arroyo] to silence him, he can’t blame anyone if he is seen as a wimp without intestinal fortitude to help Senate get truth about ZTE deal. He should be condemned and burned at the stake,” said Pimentel.
As NEDA chief, Neri rejected the loan for the ZTE Corp. proposal. He was later transferred to CHEd.
The same source said Neri has also been asked “to rest ‘indefinitely’ in California to prevent him from testifying and telling all in the Senate.”

Why would Neri need protecting from Abalos and Mendoza? If Neri is telling the truth, it’s Abalos and Mendoza who will need protecting, unless of course, Gloria has some inkling that protecting neri from abalos and Mendoza means that those two have intentions of causing Neri some bodily harm in which case, she should have Abalos and Mendoza arrested if only to prevent a possible crime.
Don’t understand Gloria’s logic at all.
Neri’s protection will come from the people – he should muster all his moral courage to say the truth and nothing but the truth and the people will protect him. The truth will protect him because the people will be behind him.
Otherwise, as I have said before, until he tells the truth, he will be putting his own personal security in jeopardy – dead men tell no tales.
Once Neri goes, reason enough to keep even his protector permanently exiled. A possibility if we still have enough braves left at large.

My prayers are with Romulo Neri. May he find enough strength to sustain the courage he had been showing these last few days.
Is there a vigil going on right now, Ms. Tordesillas? If there is, a live TV coverage (perhaps, by Ricky Carandang) will shake things up a bit. It just might encourage more people to join in. Who knows, it may even project a sense of urgency for people (particularly to senators who should feel even more aggrieved by Aling Gloria’s move, which comes as an obvious ploy to keep Neri away from their hearings)to come over to Neri’s protection.
Neri must be given options: go to the US under Aling Gloria’s “protection”, or stay where he is and be protected by Juan dela Cruz.
Can’t Neri tender an immediate irrevocable resignation? Then, he be under no obligation to “follow legal orders”.
I have this puny feeling Neri just might go to NY with Gloria and then to California for a bit of rest.

Yes, Razon was ADC to FVR. Right – they were together. But when Esperon became deputy PSG chief during the early part of Gloria’s bogus term, Razon was already out of PSG.

Report: Neri not joining Arroyo’s US trip
Chairman Romulo Neri of the Commission on Higher Education told ABS-CBN News Monday night that he will not be joining President Arroyo in her trip to the United States on Tuesday.
ABS-CBN correspondent RG Cruz said that he was able to talk with Neri on the telephone. The CHED chief clarified that his scheduled trip to the United Nations headquarters in New York with Mrs. Arroyo has been canceled.
No other details were available as of this posting.
Neri’s announcement came as several groups gathered in front of his home in Sta. Mesa Heights in Quezon City to support the official in his testimony before Senate panels investigating the national broadband network (NBN) anomaly.
“The CHED chief clarified that his scheduled trip to the United Nations headquarters in New York with Mrs. Arroyo has been canceled.”
The above statement is not quite accurate because there was no scheduled trip for him for the U.S. tomorrow. He is scheduled to appear before the Senate on Wednesday.
DFA said they included Neri’s name at the last minute upon instruction of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo, another wimp.

I don’t know about Mason but I heard members conduct themselves professionally, with discipline and moral values. Many of our past heroes like Dr. Jose Rizal were Masons. Being a Mason could have earned Razon his highest PNP position. I know his group is very powerful and influential worldwide. Yung iba umiikot-ikot naghahanap kung saan pipuesto sa First Avenue at 46th Street harap ng United Nations. At yung iba galing Canada nasa Albany na to join them. Lalong dadami ang tao pagsumama si Neri sa New York. Baka lalong mapapahiya lang kayo Mrs. President.

Kung ang mga Kano at taga NY nagpakita ng pagkamuhi sa Iranian President, much more dapat dito kay Madame Impakta. Ang hirap lang kasi sa Pinoy groups abroad, kulang sa empowerment.
