  6. Diego K. Guerrero Diego K. Guerrero

Kahit sa aming barangay walang Gloria pandesal. Imported ang arina at bigas kaya mahal. Matagal ng super-tipid ang Pinoy.

  7. Elvira Elvira

  8. Told you so.

  9. DPhil (PhD), my ass!

Pwe!

  10. chi chi

    Yuko,

DPhil ba o real PhD ang bruha! Masyadong malaki ang deprensya niyan a.

  11. Chi,

Sa UK, ang tawag DPhil. Sa Tate PhD. Mas gusto ko ang tawag sa UK! Pero iyong doctorate degree ng dorobong pandak binili lang daw when Angara or Abueva was president of UP. Kung sa Tate siguro iyan, hindi nakapasa!

There is no true organizational discipline in our country. We have legislators holding the purse strings on projects, government doing direct marketing, and so on. Gusto lahat magkakwarta agad and big. I have mentioned in earlier postings that the idea of dole outs and access cards is bereft of common sense. It breeds laziness while religion provides the omnipotent courage to live on others’ sweat. We can correct all of these if only our leaders and those with phds direct their efforts to what they are supposed to do properly.

walang bigas? huwag na lang kumain..

  18. Diba sabi kosa previous thread, we have been teleported back to the 19th century?

Progressive faculty members, graduating militant students and non-academic personnel of the University made a series of symbolic actions at the UP Centennial Graduation ceremonies last April 27, 2008.

Amidst the tight security of the University authorities, various groups creatively made bold statements on the country’s deteriorating political and economic situation reiterating the position of the Diliman University Council that GMA must go!

The food shortage apparently is all part of the publicity stunt to deviate attention from the graft and corruption perpetrated by the criminals running the country like hell, and to try to whitewash the bad image of the Unano, and see if her photo-ops giving rice and noodles or the food send-offs kuno can help improve her ratings!

Sarap murahin ng hinayupak sa totoo lang. For publicity sake’s, gugutumin lahat. Imbes na sila ang maging bibig ng mga hinaing ng mga mahihirap ay kinukunsinti pa nila ang mga kawalanghiyang ginagawa ng mga Pidal na walang ginawa kundi maganakaw at babuyin ang Pilipinas. there is quite a difference between the titles dphil and phd. phd was started to reinvigorate the old dphil programme which consist of a thesis based on one’s previous published research work and an oral exam. in fact there is no time span for this. the phd programme however has limited time, i.e., normally three years, one year for courses and two years for research. in some universities, if one could not finish the programme in the allotted time, one has to repeat the courses. what i donot understand is why gma took the title dphil when very few universities are offering this unless of course it is just a quick fix.

  24. chi chi

    norpil,

That’s what I know. Two Hongkonese friends of mine took dphil in England but were not allowed to pursue PhD because they failed the oral exam. A Malaysian friend, however, who also took dphil in the same univ. is now a PhD.

In Europe, the minimum PhD is 3 yrs, maximum 7 depends on the circumstances. I know, hubby got his PhD in Europe. In the US, PhD extends up to 10 years.

A dphil is not a phd. Gloria is not a dphil because she did not study in Europe and there’s no dphil in the US (also, she only studied in the US for 6 months). She got her PhD at UP (at least that’s what I read in the newspapers).
Everyone is welcome to correct me if I’m wrong.

    friends, let us compare notes:

for February-March period, my household electricity bill, for a 897 kWh consumption, amounted to PhP 7,934.75.

for March-April period, corresponding a 318 kWh consumption, the bill amounted to PhP 2,987.18.

    (conversion rates: JPY 103: 1 US$, PhP 40: 1 US$)

yun nasa Pinas, magkano ang binabayaran?

  26. zen2 zen2

gusto ko ma-confirm ang suspetsa: Philippines, has one of the highest power rates in the world.

  27. Over at Oxford U, Chi, they say DPhil and it means Doctor of Philosophy. The first time I heard it mentioned was when I was introduced to my foster father, who had a DPhil in Economics from the same college that I attended.

You bet, Gloria did not get her doctorate from any European university. If she did, she would probably use “DPhil” not “PhD.” She got her doctorate from UP by paying someone there to get it according to some people there.

What a bitch! Due to the Supreme Court’s wittingly or unwittingly delaying of the ZTE deal on Neri petition, the Senate has decided to terminate the investigation and hearing.
Once again, the culprits in Malacanang have gotten away!

Who is Lucio? Add Lucio Yan to the ranks of Lucio Tan and Lucio Co, super wealthy Chinoys. Lucio Yan bought two mansions at Wack Wack Subdivision. The house at 970 Stanford sold by former Central Bank official Cesar Lomotan was sold to Lucio Tan and now undergoing major renovation. The maids of Cesar Lomotan told their neighbors, they are moving out because Chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr. is moving in.

Two blocks away is the house of Ruben Reyes, prominently mentioned in the ZTE-NBN deal negotiations. Ruben Reyes just bought a neighboring vacant lot of about 3,000 square meters which Mrs. Reyes told her neighbors belongs to Ben Abalos. BIR will not dare look into these transactions for now. We have to wait for 2010.

  31. bitchevil bitchevil

Remember that gay who was ridiculed in a Cebu hospital that has become the hot topic of the media. The doctors and nurses are being investigated and charged. What if that happens to Neri? What if his lover Tom puts a bottle in Neri’s ass? Only then might Neri testify against GMA…

  32. Valdemar Valdemar

    zen2,
Increasing power rates is no problem here if you know how. Aside from a siphoned source on a wire that passed our huge tree, I had registered 8 meters, keeping 7 on the threshold of discounted rate while supplying my aircons and freezers. also save on my cable TV tapped from an innocent neighbor’s coaxial. Will you ask also on water rates?
from a friend who failed his Phd but happy to remain as a DOM, doctor of madecine.

  33. chi chi

    Valdemar,

Natawa ako pero marami siguradong gumagawa niyan. Well, in these times of pahirap ni Gloria, everyone must be resourceful.

  34. Chi/Valdemar:
That’s one of the issues I’ve been very vocal against in these electricity billings.

Napocor and the IPPs produce power in KVA (Kilo Volt x Amperes), they sell it (technically, it’s called “demand”) in KVAh (KVA x hrs.) to distributors like Meralco.

Meralco in turn, sells it to us in KWh (Kilo Watt x hrs.) which is actual consumption. KVAh x Power Factor (which is always a decimal value) is reflected in our bills as KWh. It looks good initially, doesn’t it? We’re paying the LOWER amount of “consumed power”.

But here’s the catch. The “sytems losses” which is comprised of energy distributed but not billed is summed up and distributed to all PAYING customers only. Systems losses include losses from equipment (i.e., distribution transformers’ core losses, copper conductor losses, low-Power Factor loads, etc.) and THOSE LOST THROUGH PILFERAGE. Including that example of Valdemar’s electricity-siphoning “jumper” under the tree.

What Valdemar has “cheated” out of his utility company, the others are paying for. No economic loss for the distributor.

Multiply that practice with those who tap into the power lines which is very rampant in many squatter colonies.

We, the fair buyers, are actually paying more to cover the amount lost to power theft, and for subsidizing those consuming less than 100KWh a month, which you can achieve, according to Valdemar’s practice, by dividing your loads and applying a meter to each freezer, aircon, or whathaveyou.

The systems loss charges, steady at about 10% of the total bill per month, frees Meralco from the responsibility to run after power thieves, while on the other hand, it punishes those who are lawfully-abiding consumers. It only perpetuates – no, encourages – stealing and it does not pressure both distributor and consumer into using machinery and other loads which are more power efficient since someone else is paying for another person’s indifference.

  35. Zen2, there is no fixed factor for any given KWh consumption after the EPIRA Law’s “unbundling” of the charges but you can estimate it to be about P9.50/KWh.

When I was in Grade 5 (a little more than 30 yrs ago, I’m sure you are computing, heheh), our teacher taught us how to compute our electricity bills, I remember, at 25 cents per KWh. Today, it’s about forty times that!

  36. parasabayan parasabayan

Our pathetic conditions today are a product of decades of neglect! Our politicians learned how to milk the country instead of serving. Lately, leaders like the evil bitch learned a new trade to get more dough! Taking advantage of China’s economic boom, the evil bitch learned so fast that Chinese funded projects would be the quickest and the highest yielding business there is for those in power! If we think that this is the worst state the country will be in, think again. Tomorrow when it is time to pay off all our debts, when the global economy would have increased the interest rates, restrict the exportation of our products, the population growth is much higher than any economic growth and the effects of neglect in all the sectors of our economy would be more pronounced, only then will we be cursing this evil bitch the more! She has been given almost eight years now to impact changes in our country but all she did and continues to do is loot our country of its resources and mismanage our government to her heart’s content!

Each time I see her face on the television, I feel like breaking the TV! I immediately turn it off and wait for a few seconds until she is off! This is how much hatred I have for this bogus president!

  38. zen2 zen2

    valdemar, tongue;

    bingo!

just like what i have suspected, household power rates per kWh in the Philippines, is maybe NOW the highest in the world!

based on personal raw data provided above, here’s how i reckon by simple ‘rithmetic: for Feb.-March, per kWh rate is a little over 24 yen.

for March-April, having consumed considerably lower than the previous month, per kWh rate stood at 22 yen.

or, the average for a 2-month period is 23 yen, which in
in PhP is 8.93 per kWh.

and this is in Japan: where a 350 ml. can of cola costs 120 yen (US$ 1.17), where everyone agrees is one of the most expensive.

point is, if Meralco—-with a government-approved rate of PhP 9.50 per kWh, charges its consumers far more than its counterpart in Japan, i cannot imagine how ordinary Filipino people survive when DAILY minimum legal wage is PhP 250! (US$ 6.25)

  39. Valdemar Valdemar

    zen2,
Everyone here can manage to survive even those not receiving wages. Try tracing out where the OFW remittances are going. It goes a long way even branching out to other very dependent beings, you know who. If you look at the news on the paper and over the radio, snatching is a way of our life. Even drug pushing. What about begging and syndcatons. And the abundant funds from the government that unbundling is no longer necessary. Dont be surprised if a neighbor is kidnapped for ransom or his kidney is sold. For as long as the church dont fold up, that means the poorest has still money to spare. They can even go on extended rallies.

By the way, I have not heard anything more about the ZTE and other corruption issues against the Arroyos; is there anything being done to continue this? I think the crisis (kuno) of the rice shortage was a man-made one to cover that corruption issues. Talagang magaling mag-manipulate ang malacanang sa pamumuno no “Gloria Labandera” malinis maglaba. 43. chi chi

Gloria is again blaming the Meralco for the abot-sky taas kuryente. Blame dito, blame doon except her evilness.

  44. dandaw dandaw

The last time I bought rice cost $10.00 for 10 lbs. Yesterday, I paid $45.00 for 10 lbs. Electricity, our last bill was $120.00/mo. WATER $600.00/mo. On water the water Co. alloted us 102 (I don’t know what measure) I talked to our Senators and Congressman, they can’t do anything because we have no rain. But the State is going to built a desalinization plant coming from the Ocean. Action for the betterment of lives of Society is always the priority of our Government but our problem is the Democrats in Congress that is always blocking the good bill to pass and also the environmentalists that opposes everything but for the conservation of the Kangaroo rats. So, life in this country not easy but it is a democracy.
