Ang nasa top 15 ay sina Loren Legarda, Francis Pangilinan, Ping Lacson, Manny Villar, Ralph Recto, Vicente Sotto, Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III (anak ni Sen. Nene Pimentel);

Alan Peter Cayetano, Gringo Honasan, JV Ejercito-Estrada, Imee Marcos, John Henry Osmeña, Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, Loi Estrada, Joker Arroyo.

Unang-una, may eleksyon ba?

Tessie Aquino-Oreta, Sen. Serge Osmeña, Sen. Aquilino Pimentel at Rep.

You bet, he should be held legally responsible too for the cheating in the 2004 election canvassing when the right time comes.

Godspeed to you Ellen. May God bless and preserve you!

  2. Oops, this should read: I second the motion sa lahat ng sinabi MO tungkol kay Kiko.

Sen. Francis Pangilinan has lots of explanation to do in his role in railroading Gloria Arroyo’s presidential proclamation. I remember his arrogant and bias handling of minority’s objections in canvassing of the votes by the joint congressional committee at the House of Representatives. The minority had not given a chance to present their electoral fraud evidence. All objections were then just NOTED. The legitimacy of the final election resulted doubt in the eyes of many Filipinos. Kumita ba si Mr. Noted Sharon Pangilinan? Majority of the Filipino people believes Gloria Arroyo, election official operators and the military manipulated election results in favor of Gloria Arroyo. I suspect Sen. Francis Pangilinan is a Malacanang Palace spy in the opposition. He is a Trojan horse and cannot be trusted. He owes a public apology to FPJ’s widow Susan Roces and the Filipino people for his direct participation in robbing their civil right to vote.
Talsik sigurado.

Ano ba kayo? Mababaw iyan. He is one of the insrumentalities why Glue is in Malacanan Palace. Managot siya. Kung patatawarin ninyo siya, eh, patawarin na natin lahat, pati na ang mga kriminal at iyong mother of all I AM SORRY. Kaya ninyo?

  6. artsee artsee

Tama! Anong sorry? Anong patawad?

Unprincipled, go where the wind blows, I found this to be the common traits of most politicians. And it’s contagious. Pretty soon, we can hardly find a single one of them worth the trust. And we are always the victims.

  8. Yung cook namin, kapag lasing na…mag-i-Ingles at pagagalitan yung ibang kasambahay: “If you are there, you are there…If you are heree, you are here…”

  9. Mali! SenaTONG pala! Nagkamali ang computer ko; hindi na-process agad! I was thinking of the Congressman in my district! pfffttt!

  10. Cory by the Sea,

Kiko is a Senator. I think he is in for a reelection next year unless he agrees to a ministerial position in case the Pandak with Abueva et al succeeds in hoodwinking Filipinos to agree to a parliamentary government prior to creating a monarchy even in principle dapat una ang monarchy kesa sa parliamentary! Bobo nga kasi ambisyosa lang nga iyong magnanakaw na gustong maging Ali Boba, the Queen of the Thieves! 😛

Kasi ang plano ng mga taratando, parliamentary kuno na unicameral while in most places bicameral kahit na parliamentary gaya ng sa Japan para wala nang upper house at lower house na lang daw made up of fellow robbers and thieves!

Tangna, ang tayog talaga ng mga ambisyon. I wonder what kind of title the Pandak has promised Kiko and Abueva that this UP guys would be willing to kiss the ass of this queen of thieves, Duke, Earl or Baron?

Otherwise, forget it.

“During the last 2004 Congressional Canvassing, Kiko displayed patience, sobriety and calm to usher a smooth canvassing process.”

    pwe!

    ITO ang isa sa kampon na nagtatago sa saya ni glue;
    kabalen din pala ang kumag?!

    Kiko for president?
    Patawarin!

Mula pa nuong napabalitang ikakasal yan kay sharon, i knew he is just a free rider….tama nga! may political ambitions ang tutang yan.

Kaya remember, next elelction: whoever can pay the grand manipulator of the right numbers, bibigyan din ng right numbers….

“During the last 2004 Congressional Canvassing, Kiko displayed patience, sobriety and calm to usher a smooth canvassing process.”

    pwe!”

Talagang PWE!

  15. Elvira Sahara Elvira Sahara

I think every sane Filipino knew that Kiko Pangilinan only became a Senator because of his wife’s influence. It was such a dismay when he sided with Arroyo and even helped her cheat during the last election. Mr. Noted is again going to used his wife to be reelcted and to be sure of his victory, he pretends to be an Opposition. Will the voters allow it this time? To be quiet and act like a deaf and dumb senator amidst all the accusations against Arroyo? Sorry, but there should be a proof …and a complete change of heart! Magawa naman kaya? Mga Kababayan, better watch out!

    Salmond issues challenge to Blair

SNP leader Alex Salmond has challenged the prime minister to a debate about the future of Scotland.

It follows attacks on the Nationalists from Tony Blair in Edinburgh on Friday.

Mr Blair said he wanted to go “head to head” with the SNP on independence and the future of Scotland in the run up to the 2007 Holyrood elections.

Mr Salmond said: “If Mr Blair wants a head to head debate then I am more than happy to have one.” He called on Mr Blair to name the time and place.

“Then we can give the people of Scotland an opportunity to see exactly why the SNP is the only party that puts the interests of Scotland first,” he said.

  18. Marami dyan. What’s important is that the elections must be clean and honest.

  20. Emilio_OFW Emilio_OFW

Kiko Pangilinan is one of the Pandak’s machinery during the May 2004 national election. If it’s not for his infamous “NOTED” remarks, the whole nation is not in this quandry.

Good for his co-conspirator, Raul Gonzales, he was able to get a juicer job.

  21. Cory by the Sea:

Not being Filipino by nationality I could not insist further. I posted the complaint in an egroup supposedly for the OAV in Japan, pero iyong moderator doon sipsip, kaya ayaw mag-protest dahil ayaw mapagalitan ng mga sipsip sa embassy. Sabi ko na lang, anyway, it does not have any effect on me or any members of my immediate family, even my family in the USA. Nakakabuwisit lang na marinig ang mga injustice na nangyari especially kay FPJ who proved in fact that election should not be too costly!

I heard a lot about the reception given to the opposition in majority of the cities they went to except in the stalwarts of the Pandak and the Fatso that were in fact not many. Sobra lang ang matapobre ng mga pilipino who were actually influenced by highly paid publicity that the actor was “bobo” even when in fact he was not or he would not be able to redeem his father’s business, etc., for intelligence in fact is not something you earn in school but a gift from God as intelligence is the glory of God.

Ask Ellen her impression of FPJ. If fact, it was her article on FPJ that pacified me about accepting the decision of the United Opposition to have him as their flag bearer. It is not God’s will that he did not win. That we know, but the man must have taken it to heart that when he did not win, he felt so disgusted that deep within his heart he had lost the will to live, and God spared him from further heartaches and pains. Magbabayad din ang mga walanghiya in time. Mas malakas ang dagok, I bet.

  22. Ellen:

Wala akong tiwala kasi ang turo sa akin ng mga parents ko tignan mo raw ng diretso ang kausap mo and you will be able to read and see his inner soul. Naniniwala ako diyan.

Iyong asawa mayabang din. Pag walang make-up pangit din.

  23. Sayang nga si FPJ. He could have proved that (1) elections need not be expensive, (2) everybody is equal under the law, may college diploma o wala, (3) to be a good leader is to be honest, sincere, commitment and dedication, (4) one can learn from experience (experience is a good teacher, remember?), (5) hindi puede ang palakasan.

Kasi adultery is a great No-No in the rule of law of the Lord above. Countries with adulterous leaders are actually not blessed by God!!!

“I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.” (Jer. 23: 14) Remember what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah.

  24. Mrivera Mrivera

    FROM THE INQUIRER:
    ——————–
PRESIDENT Gloria Macapagal Arroyo appreciates her being named by Forbes Magazine as one of the world’s most powerful women.

“[She] considers [it] more an acknowledgement of the gains being made by the Filipino people on the road to political stability and economic progress,” Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye said.

“The President is but an instrument of the sovereign people and any accolade extended to her is an accolade for the entire Philippines,” Bunye said.

Arroyo ranked 45th in Forbes Magazine’s list of 100 most powerful women in the world. She outranked England’s Queen Elizabeth II by a notch.

In 2005, Arroyo ranked fourth on the list.

    PWE, PWE, PWE AT PWE!

  27. Chabeli Chabeli

It has been said on several occasions that “Filipinos get the government they deserve.” Looking at it on the surface, it may sound true; however, if one where to look deeper, those words are false. I believe that Filipinos trust too easily and place their hopes on political wanna-be’s, believing that they will do as they promise, only to be let down and fooled. The “President” did that, and so did many of her minions! One of them is Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan. On the surface, he speaks well and seems to know his law, however, what’s he really all about?

On a stand alone, he wasn’t an exceptional law student, he was not amongst the top notchers in the bar exam; he wasn’t an astute lawyer either. His 1st claim to fame was marrying the “Mega Star”. His 2nd claim to fame was during the counting of ballots in the 2004 election where he over-used the now-infamous word, “NOTED”.

The man simply has NO SUBSTANCE whatsoever and lacks the INTEGRITY to be voted into office. Where would a “NOTED MEGA STAR” bring him? Definitely not on my ballot!

  28. cvj cvj

I remember watching the ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’ Episode when Sharon Cuneta won 1 million pesos. At one point, she called on Kiko to be her ‘lifeline’ on a multiple choice question with three choices. He offered an answer but you can sense that Sharon was not convinced. Good thing she did not follow her husband’s advice and offered her own answer instead. Goes to show who is the smarter between the two.

  29. Chabeli Chabeli

    lakay,
What’s interesting in the article regarding Gloria “being named by Forbes Magazine as one of the world’s most powerful women” is that the said magazine says that “the storm is not over” for Gloria and that she “faces continuous calls to step down before her term ends in 2010; plans for impeachment proceedings seem to perennially loom.” I guess they see it, too. Pekeng Pangulo kasi.

Here’s the article taken from the website of Forbes.com

    The 100 Most Powerful Women
    #45 Gloria Arroyo

It’s been a tumultuous tenure for President Arroyo. Last year, she fended off an impeachment attempt stemming from allegations that she cheated to win her country’s May 2004 elections. The storm is not over. The scandal-plagued Arroyo, 59, who became president in 2001, faces continuous calls to step down before her term ends in 2010; plans for impeachment proceedings seem to perennially loom. The controversy overshadows Arroyo’s successful lowering of the budget deficit and her work increasing Philippine electronics exports. —Tatiana Serafin

Does being powerful makes her less of a liar, a cheat and a thief that she is?

  32. You should have asked as to how much Pandak paid to the advertiser to be included in the list at all!

Kiko, before elected as a senator, ran for a congressional seat in Quezon City and lost miserably. Despite his loss, he learned a lesson and was inspired by the political success of Marcos in having Imelda as his secret weapon in his political battles; he pursued the then very popular Sharon Cuneta who was then separated from her husband. The only difference between him and Marcos in so far as to their love life is concerned, Marcos loved Imelda, while Kiko, we really don’t know if he ever did loved Sharon. Everybody knows and maybe with the exception of Sharon, that Kiko used her as his stepping stone to the political limelight.
He is an opportunist, not an oppositionist.

But just thinking, kung oposisyon na siya, when election campaign starts (if there will be one), walang magbro-brought out or attack him from either political party about his ‘NOTED’ acts for obvious reason. I agree with you na hindi dapat maihalal ulit si Kiko Pangilinan sa pagiging Senador dahil sa kanyang “Noted, Noted” remarks during the May 2004 election canvassing. Of of all these people in the top 15, mas may karapatan si Chiz Escudero na mapasama.

  50. anthony scalia anthony scalia

Ano ba kayo? You judged the capabilities of Kiko just on the way he handled the congressional canvassing of votes? Why, have you checked his legislative record? You are already blinded by your anti-pandak stance.

But on any day I’d choose any of the Batasan 5 over Kiko and Escudero. Dapat nang matanggal sa Senado sina Loi, Jinggoy at Jamby, and the old old man Pimentel. Satur Ocampo et al deserve to be in the Senate.

SIGURADO AKO NA FOR SATUR OCAMPO et al, TALAGANG BAYAN MUNA ANG UNA. EH THE REST OF THE “UNITED OPPOSITION”? ANG TALAGANG SLOGAN NILA AY “ALIS DIYAN PARA KAMI NAMAN!”

Wake up people. Being anti-pandak should just be one of the qualifications, BUT NOT THE NO. 1 INDISPENSABLE QUALIFICATION

(ang pinag-uusapan natin dito ay ang suitability to be a senatorial candidate of several prospects at present. so please limit comments, if any, to the issue at hand. and no ad hominems please)

  51. npongco npongco

Anthony, sometimes it feels good to be different from the rest. But this time, I think you’re out of this planet. If Senator Pangilinan could use his power and position to prevent the presentation of evidences during canvass of votes in Congress last year, just imagine what he would do if he gets re-elected for the last time as senator. He only needs our votes just for this time. And you can also imagine what he would do when he’s in higher office comes 2010. To end all arguments about Pangilinan, the best thing to do is to dump him next election. Let’s see how many songs his wife Sharon would sing on stage for him or cry like she does in the movies. Why not Sharon Cuneta run for Senator instead? She has less objection from people. Kiko? NAH!

  52. npongco npongco

Speaking of the name Kiko, Japan’s Princess Kiko has given birth to a boy. Otherwise, debate would have continued if it’s time a woman is next in throne. How about calling Sharon’s husband Prince Kiko?

  53. norpil norpil

anthony, ano ba ang ad hominems. mahina talaga ako sa language. in a way, i think you are talking sense here. i donot know all these would be candidates anyway, so if i will vote i will consult their track records if it is consistent with their party platform. but maybe this does not exist in the pinas, then maybe their personal ideology, i.e., what is driving them as politicians.

  54. anthony scalia anthony scalia

    To npongco:

“But this time, I think you’re out of this planet”

Oh no, you have succumbed to the use of “ad hominems”!! Am I out of this planet? Remember, it takes one to know one.

You haven’t really responded to what I floated – are you dissing Kiko just because of the way he handled the congressional canvass? Are you overlooking his legislative record from 2001 up to the present? Would you solely base his worth on the 2004 congressional canvass? Then you are no different from the rest of the voters WHO ARE PERSONALITY-ORIENTED RATHER THAN ISSUE-ORIENTED.

For everybody’s information. Kiko and Raul Gonzales then were just joint chairs. They cannot rule on their own. Its the whole body (reps from House-Senate) who decides. The joint chairs can be overruled by the members of the joint canvassing body. GMA allies were a majority in that joint body, so we know the body’s leaning.

Presentation of evidences? The canvassing body was not the proper venue.

And the actual canvassing of presidential votes is done by both houses of Congress. STRICTLY SPEAKING, WHAT THE BODY CHAIRED BY KIKO AND RAUL GONZALES DID WAS EXAMINE THE INTEGRITY OF THE CERTIFICATES OF CANVASS (COCs); DECIDING WHICH COCs SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE FINAL AND ACTUAL CANVASSING TO BE DONE BY BOTH HOUSES OF CONGRESS.

“To end all arguments about Pangilinan, the best thing to do is to dump him next election”

What do you mean by “all arguments”? YOUR ONLY ARGUMENT AGAINST KIKO IS THE WAY HE HANDLED THE EXAMINATION OF THE COCs.

    To norpil:

“ad hominems” is a short cut to “argumentum ad hominem” literally meaning attacking the person. Its a fallacy in argumentation, resorting to attacking the person rather than his ideas. Attacking the person does not contribute to the discussion of issues.

If you can recall all comments to my posts, commenters were generous in calling me names, adjectives, before dissecting my ideas. A more recent example of ad hominems is npongco’s comment that “I am out of this planet” without rebutting my idea of not judging the worth of Kiko solely on how he handled the examination of COCs.

How about you, sir norpil? Will you reject Kiko just on what he did in the examination of COCs?

  55. norpil norpil

to anthony:i thought i answered the question more politely by generalising so that i will not antagonize unnecessarily, i.e., examine the person’s track record. actually i donot believe in a single act thing, i am looking for the story/ideology- a conglomeration of actions by which we can judge the candidates. living in sin and committing a sin are two different things, even god forgive those who just have gone wayward.. as to the other’s comments which are ad hominems (ty : i learned something again), i think i am too old to take it seriously but still try to digest what they say.. i visited ruffy biazons homepage and i learned also something about arguments which i have noticed here, i.e., the abas argument which meant actually, ah basta ako ang tama, which actually end all other arguments but is in a way better than ad hominem.

  56. anthony scalia anthony scalia

    To norpil:

Yes, I acknowledge that you indeed answered the question politely. Sorry about that. The tenor of my last sentence is more like “are you joining npongco and the rest who will base Kiko’s worth on an isolated incident?” Dala ng frustration ko sa post ni npongco who I thought could do better than that.

Thanks for sharing the “abas argument.” I learned something. Though better than ad hominems in that it does not attack the person, the “abas argument” should be avoided as well, as it is indicative of a lack of openness, a lack of a healthy degree of tolerance, a lack of humility that one could be wrong (and the other guy, right)

People who always use ad hominems and “abas arguments” (like most posters here) do not deserve to participate in the free market of ideas. But alas, we are in a democracy, so we just have to put up with those people, and hope that there are still people out there who can discuss issues without resort to ad hominems and “abas arguments”

We can always disagree, sir norpil, but we need not be disagreeable

  57. norpil norpil

well sir anthony: i may soon be disagreeable when people call me sir. actually the sir fits your name better. i have seen a play wherein somebody called the other one lord anthony. but as i said before if name calling is not done with malice, it is still ok.

  58. anthony scalia anthony scalia

    To norpil:

You said you are 64. So the “sir” is more of out of respect. If I have colleague who is much older I’m uncomfortable not calling him/her “sir” or “ma’am”. But since we are in the blogosphere where everyone is on a first-name basis, then its back to norpil.

  59. Jun Jun

  60. norpil norpil

ty anthony.well, i feel much older with a sir.
