Kawawang bansa!

Imagine sampung pisong coins, peke???

Ellen must be describing also the ‘united opposition’ with the title of this thread, “Nag-iisahan ang mga tuso”

susmaryosep, di na bago yan. Recall the days of FPJ’s presidential candidacy – yung mga backers nya mismo ay nag-iisahan

  6. goldenlion goldenlion

  7. anthony scalia anthony scalia

    To goldenlion:

…The More They Stay the Same

Back in the early 1930’s, when Mob Boss Dutch Schultz suspected a key lieutenant of disloyalty, he personally encased the man’s legs in cement, and then dumped him, while still alive, in the Hudson River.

Well, remember the Marine arrested at the White House for spying recently? Feeding classified material to politicians in the Philippines? The politicians were Abramoff’s clients…

The Marine passed classified documents to a Filipino politician named Michael Aquino, who’d been sent to the U.S. to chill out until he was no longer “hot” in Manila. Why was Aquino laying low?

Because he’d killed a man who’d released an embarrassing video clip during the Filipino Presidential campaign showing Philippine Vice President Joseph Estrada playing high-stakes baccarat at a casino with a notorious gambler.

Edgar Bentain disappeared without a trace, until someone confessed that they’d seen him…in a drum. Bentain was encased alive in cement. Philippine NBI agents were later said to be searching for a metal drum near the bridge.

“We were brought to a bridge near Bacolor, where we saw Bentain inside a drum. We could still see his head but the rest of his body was already buried under cement,” said the man’s statement to police. “Bentain was crying and begging for his life.”

In Tagalong, Aquino told him, “You deserve this because you mind other people’s business too much!”

Ellen, sorry for the post office fiasco. I have sent similar posts in the Philippines, and they all went through smoothly when sent via EMS. I was a bit apprehensive though about the mail to you, because I sent a similar package to someone at UP. You bet, pinahirapan din because he is a well-known anti-establishment. Nakalimutan ko but you are not a subversive kaya akala ko OK naman. Will send it via tao na para sigurado!!!

BTW, there is now a worldwide movement versus the extrajudicial killings in the Philippines. For all you know, diplomats in the Philippines themselves are sending reports to their home governments and reporting the lukewarm response and action of the Bansot government. Panay lang daw ang palusot! Nakakahiya! Lalo pa’t trying hard to give an image that she is respected overseas!!!

Edgar Bentain’s Mysterious Disappearance “Evil thrives because good men do nothing” -Touch by an Angel An Open Letter of Appeal to All Peace Loving Filipinos

It was Saturday morning, January 16, 1999 when armed men abducted my older brother Edgar Bentain outside the Casino Filipino of former Silahis Hotel along Roxas Boulevard in Manila. It will be the 6th year of his mysterious disappearance on Sunday. My family still remains in the dark as to any clues of Edgar’s whereabouts, nor real condition. We are asking the government, what now?

Years have passed since the CIDG and NBI conducted their own inquiries and investigations– only for us to learn and find out that all of these were mere moro-moro. I remember CIDG Chief Lucas Managuelod himself revealed that Edgar is still alive making us to believe therefore that they made a crucial discovery on their investigation but were afraid to reveal what they truly know or are being made to keep silent precisely by those behind the abduction as well to the whereabouts of my brother?

As I see it, my brother Edgar’s case is considered one of the most publicized cases in the country. It was an eye opener to every Juan Dela Cruz to question the safety of the lives of every Filipino which consequently provoked national interests regarding the true state of the nation under the presidency of Mr. Joseph Estrada. Perhaps it was one of the reasons that led to his ouster from the highest position in the land a few days following pro-impeachment senators walked of the Senate Hearing out in protest in January 16, 2001—exactly 2 years after Edgar Bentain’s abduction! A mere coincidence, wasn\’t it?

I recall it was also in the year 2001 alone when 3 NBI groups were tasked one after another by the Bureau Chief to follow up/investigate Edgar’s case. Up to this very moment, there is no single report made or was submitted to us when we requested for a full report. Such then no more re-investigation was organized by any of our police and government agency.

We find it too outrageous and hard to believe how our current administration’s enormous influence and power which includes full media coverage has not yield any result. Much more try to help ease up our suffering, by joining our quest to unveil the truth and put behind bars all those behind Edgar’s mysterious disappearance. We regret to say nevertheless, that our hearts can no longer put our hopes with the police or any other government investigating institution. Only a creation of an autonomous body like a taskforce to investigate Edgar mysterious disappearance could help solve my brother’s case. Otherwise, any efforts made by our government to project a good image for such actions are again political in nature.

We have stated our fears 6 years ago; there was already a stench of an obvious cover-up with the way our government agencies handled the investigations. Up to now, our family has all the reasons to believe and suspect that there is still a startling stench, not to cover-up but instead, forget totally Edgar’s case. More so, we strongly believe that most of those people who took part of the gruesome crime against my brother are still roaming free to go anywhere, still visibly active in PAGCOR’s Casino Filipino branches and inside the Philippine political arena. It is very apparent, that there are very important personalities involved in this case. Our country’s leaders in the government obvious display of apathy only proves that these people are indeed are real untouchables and above the law.

In spite of these, my family is asking the same questions again and again: Will there ever be a principled leader in our government? One who has the political will to attend seriously to the appeal of ordinary Filipino families’ sorry quests to give justice to all victims of involuntary disappearances i.e. the Edgar Bentain’s case? Are there leaders with such concerns? One who could seriously resolve such quests for justice and firmly impose security and safety to all Filipinos? If none, what help we could really expect from our government and its leaders?

In lieu of the circumstances, the Bentain family therefore appeals again to every peace loving Filipinos to please join our prayers in our desperate hopes and to find and recover Edgar, and that all those behind the January 16, 1999 abduction of Edgar be brought to justice once and for all. Let us also pray for our government leaders and its agencies concerned that Filipinos want assurances that these people or their kind shall not have chance to repeat such hideous act against their fellow man ever again.

    JUSTICE FOR EDGAR BENTAIN!
    JUSTICE FOR ALL DESAPARASIDOS!

  13. I should add, mas maganda pa ang image ni Cory Aquino. Now is the chance to prove her worth sa totoo lang. The Bansot is trying to blame Cory for the ills of her governmnent as a matter of fact, so Cory may just as well lead the Opposition so she will remain the symbol of the Filipino people’s power revolution and prove to be real this time, hindi iyong made in the USA of 1986.

Huwag mawalan ng loob. Inot-inot may paroroonan din. Bakit ba iyong pagong nakarating rin!!! Tiyaga iyan ang dapat na payamanin!!!

  14. Alam mo, Hindinapinoy, mahirap mamintang. A member of our church was assassinated too in December 2000, less than a month before the Bansot was placed in Malacanang. He was a radio broadcaster ala-Rafael Yabut who was attacking the environmental secretary of Erap based in Zamboanga. At first, everyone thought he was assassinated on order of the said secretary with or without the knowledge of Estrada. Now, we have more reason to believe that he was the collateral damage in the Oplan to remove Estrada.

Members of our church worldwide in fact wrote to Estrada to order a thorough investgation of that murder case. Like this Bentain case, it remains to be solved.

Mahirap mamintang.

  15. Sorry, this should read: Hangga’t hindi nagbabago ang sistema sa Pilipinas na puede naman gawin kung bakit hindi ginagawa ay ipasa-Diyos na lang ng mga pamilya ng napaslang ang PAGHINGI ng hustisya sa mga krimeng ito bagama’t puedeng ipasagot doon sa mga mahihilig umupo sa Malacanang!!! Gustong maging presidente, wala namang ibubuga.

  16. The Grand Diversion

I agree with Ellen about Arroyo using Cha Cha to get JDV and FVR’s support.

GMA doesn’t really care about CHA CHA. It it passes, then it gives her and her trapo allies more power. If not, fine. Nasa pwesto pa rin si Arroyo. The status quo remains.

I don’t know if magkakaroon ng kaguluhan kung naipasa ang bulok na P.I. ni Arroyo, it might happen or it might not. basta ang alam ko ang CBCP ay kontra sa People’s Initiative (but not the Constitutional Convention method).

But the fact that we’ve used up much of our energies on fighting Arroyo’s Grand Diversion aka CHA CHA instead of focusing on the real issue of Arroyo’s Grand Dagdag bawas operation of 2004, the anti-Arroyo groups may be lulled into a false sense of victory over something that was meant to distract both the anti-GMA groups and ate glo’s allies in the House.

By the time we’ve finished fighting off Arroyo’s CHA CHA diversion, we may be too tired to bring Arroyo and her COMELEC and military cohorts to justice.

Btw, I also believe Arroyo will step down in 2010. And by that time, all 15 members of the SC will become Arroyo appointees.

Palace: There was no flip-flop on initiative

    BY JOCELYN MONTEMAYOR

GABRIEL Claudio, presidential adviser for political affairs, yesterday dismissed as mere intrigue reports that President Arroyo secretly sent word to the Supreme Court that she would not be averse to the junking of the people’s initiative after learning of a provision allowing the impeachment of the President during the transition period to 2010.

A Palace source on Sunday said the President was wary that the “impeachment clause” in the proposed charter amendments could be used by Speaker Jose de Venecia, who was confident of becoming the interim prime minister, to grab power and shorten her term.

The source said it was Mike Arroyo who first became suspicious of the “impeachment clause.”

The President has survived two impeachment attempts.

De Venecia’s Cha-cha blueprint provides that the senators who have up to 2010 will serve the remainder of their term as automatic members of the interim parliament.

The same provision applies to President Arroyo who will continue to serve as President until 2010 “unless impeached by the parliament.”

The source said when the President failed to get a firm assurance from De Venecia and people’s initiative proponents that the “impeach clause” would not apply to her, she ordered a discrete pull-out of support for the people’s initiative.

“This is when the First Gentleman went to work,” the source said.

Claudio said the administration in fact supports the filing of a motion for reconsideration by PI proponents Sigaw ng Bayan and the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP).

He said they had expected that there would be a tight voting in the Supreme Court.

“Nobody can say it would be easy. Kaya wala naman talagang paninisi at wala naman talagang napakataas na expectation because mahirap ang sitwasyon ng PI,” he said.

He reiterated that there are no efforts to remove Defense Secretary Avelino Cruz Jr. because of his opposition to the people’s initiative.

A Palace source has said there is a brewing Cabinet war between the “De Venecia boys,” namely Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez, national security adviser Norberto Gonzales and presidential political adviser Gabriel Claudio on one side and Cruz and presidential chief of staff Michael Defensor on the other.

Defensor said Cruz is effective in his position and his opposing stand on the PI should not be a reason to remove him.

Defensor said the Cabinet has agreed not to make any further comment on the charter issue.

“Wala munang pulitika, mas importante problema sa bagyo lalo na iyung apketado ng malakas na ulan at hangin,” he said referring to super typhoon “Paeng.”

Cabinet Secretary Ricardo Saludo said he sees no problem in the Cabinet.

“In fact the DND secretary as NDCC (National Disaster Coordinating Council) chairman would be working with several Cabinet members on the Paeng relief operation and that’s proceeding well,” he said.

Rep. Constantino Jaraula (Lakas, Cagayan de Oro), a De Venecia ally, described as preposterous the report of a supposed rift between Arroyo and De Venecia.

Jaraula said Arroyo even visited De Venecia’s residence before leaving for China last week.

Jaraula, author of Resolution 1230 convening Congress into a constituent assembly to craft changes to the 1987 Constitution, declined to disclose the result of the meeting but said it was enough proof that there is no truth to the reports.

He said it would be best if De Venecia would disclose results of his talk with Arroyo.

De Venecia was not immediately available for comment.

Love-hate relationship of GMA, JDV unfolds

    BY AMADO P. MACASAET

ON the evening of Oct. 24, a day before the Supreme ruled on the controversial Sigaw ng Bayan petition for people’s initiative, there was merrymaking in Malacañang.

Supporters of the petition expected a 9-6 decision in their favor. Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno, mastermind of the signature campaign for the initiative, was adored like a hero. He began to act like a hero.

Palace officials or those who were for the petition believed Associate Justices Consuelo Ynares Santiago and Adolf Azcuna were on their side. The petition had it.

There was reasonable expectation that Santiago would support the petition because her brother, Rizal Gov. Casimiro “Ito” Ynares, would be one of many beneficiaries.

If the petition had been approved, he would remain governor with the cancellation of next year’s elections.

About a week before the Supreme Court sat en banc to vote on the petition, Azcuna is said to have allowed a friend in Malacañang to read a draft of his decision. He was voting for the petition.

On Wednesday, Oct. 25, they got the surprise of their lives. The voting was 8-7 against the petition.

    BETRAYAL?

Why did Azuna “betray” them? Because, according to his friends, he was so embarrassed when Speaker Jose V. de Venecia openly campaigned for the approval of the initiative during the Global Forum on Liberty and Prosperity sponsored by the Supreme Court.

Up to the last minute, Santiago gave no hint on what her vote would be. But supporters of the initiative were confident she was with them. They knew that a powerful man allegedly offered her governor-brother P1 billion in public works projects for Rizal.

They thought that Ynares accepted the offer. He did not. He left his sister to her own designs.

The evening of the fateful day turned out to be the start of finger pointing in Malacañang. But President Arroyo was eerily quiet. She went to the home of the Speaker to console him. She went on to say that she would go for his proposed constituent assembly.

The finger pointing never stopped. Victory has a thousand fathers but defeat is always an orphan.

The search for who to blame continued. In a meeting Friday in Malacañang, political adviser Gabriel Claudio, Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez ganged up on Puno for failing them in the petition.

    PUNO DISOWNS PI

Puno, in exasperation, was reported to have declared that he was not for the initiative in the first place.

We earlier observed what we thought was fishy. Arroyo never consulted the legal minds of The Firm, principally Pancho Villaraza and Defense Secretary Avelino J. Cruz Jr.

On the contrary, Villaraza openly campaigned for rejection. Arroyo was not pissed off. Which means she was not that interested in seeing the Court support the initiative.

Suspicious minds in Malacañang and in legal circles are now saying that the President did not commission Villaraza for the campaign for approval precisely because he might succeed.

He succeeded in having it rejected instead.

The deeper meaning of Villaraza’s successful move is that it might have started the downfall of Lakas party.

    KAMPI LIVES

So some minds in Malacañang might have successfully started the resuscitation of the Kampi party of Arroyo.

Now the war between Arroyo and De Venecia is in the open. The President had always appeared as supporting the petition and, thus, led the Speaker to believe that with the Chief Executive in his pocket, he could not lose the Supreme Court ruling.

She never showed De Venecia that she felt betrayed when a provision was inserted in the draft constitution drawn up hastily by the group of De Venecia stating that she shall serve her full term until 2010 unless she is impeached by the interim parliament.

So, there was a plan to impeach her in spite of the help she was showing to De Venecia.

Little did De Venecia wonder why Villazara openly campaigned for rejection. Cruz also never lifted a finger. His friends say he continues to believe that the most democratic way of amending the charter is through a constitutional convention.

If the President is not a fan of De Venecia, believing that she had been betrayed, it would be reasonable for her to try and oust the Speaker.

    PLAYING GAMES

It can break the back of either of them. De Venecia believes that he has the support of the majority of the House so he cannot be ousted.

On the other hand, it would be good to remember that it is Arroyo herself who dispenses with favors to congressmen.

The public perception is Mrs. Arroyo is beholden to De Venecia for aborting the impeachment cases against her. The President makes herself look happy with that support.

After the Supreme Court junked the petition, it turned out that they were using each other for motives they do not tell.

    BENEFICIARY

On the surface, it is clear that De Venecia would the biggest beneficiary of the initiative. He would be the country’s first prime minister

Gloria is perceived as having no choice but to go all out for De Venecia to abort any impeachment effort next year by not having an election. In fact, the Speaker is known to have sent word to the President that if the election would push through, she could be impeached because the opposition could dominate the House.

Since the rift between the Speaker and the President is now of public record, it turned out that from Day One, they were playing games but they were keeping aces close to their chests.

In a manner of speaking, the Speaker did not have an ace. They were all in the hands of Arroyo.

The blame for the defeat is laid on the door of many, particularly Puno and the rest of the Cabinet. Everybody, except Villaraza who might have played a big hand in insuring the rejection of the people’s initiative.

  23. Ellen,

Off topic but would greatly appreciate it if you could tell me your opinion on the anti-terrorism law being proposed in the 13th Congress.

    Thanks.

Pwe! 😡

Ang ganda ng usapan sa Diet kahapon. Anna, kumusta ang parliament sa Belgium? Mukhang babatikosin ang palpak na Melo Commission.

  25. Getting rid of witnesses cuts both ways. I could be that those who used the witness has outlived his purpose. If the administration is keen on pinning down Erap et al, they should have followed up the Bentain case.

I love seeing Glueria and JDV getting at each other’s throats. While they do these, they expose more of their evil plot to the attentive Filipino. What’s next is the final countdown to the administration’s crumbling wall.

  26. Tuso talaga itong si Gloria:

“Labor Secretary Arturo Brion last week announced that apart from doubling the salaries of Filipino domestic helpers, the POEA would also prohibit recruitment agencies from collecting placement fees from them.

“POEA administrator Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz had said that the new policy, was part of a package of policy reforms that would “professionalize and empower” the hundreds of thousands of Filipino domestic helpers leaving each year to work overseas.

The “SuperMaid” program includes requiring domestic helpers to undergo skills assessment and upgrading as well as culture, language and emergency management training with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.”

I’m all for giving the maids, supermaids especially, the high salaries that they can get but what is really the purpose of Gloria for exporting Filipino human beings to be the beasts of burdens around the world?

  28. Mrivera Mrivera

Mike, Chavit pressure Ang to testify vs Erap

    2006/10/31

Apparently unsure of the Sandiganbayan justices’ verdict on the plunder charges against detained President Joseph Estrada and his co-accused, his son, Sen. Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada and lawyer Edward Serapio, presidential spouse Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo and Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson have allegedly been moving heaven and earth in their attempts to convince Charlie “Atong” Ang, also a co-accused in the Estrada plunder trial, to testify against the detained leader, allegedly to ensure Estrada’s conviction at the Sandiganbayan.

This was bared yesterday by Estrada’s senator-son to Senate reporters through a phone-patch interview.

  29. Mrivera,

Di ba may kasabihan, birds of the same feather flock together?

  34. chi chi

    Anna,
“Labor Secretary Arturo Brion last week announced that apart from doubling the salaries of Filipino domestic helpers, the POEA would also prohibit recruitment agencies from collecting placement fees from them.

Hahahaha!!! Will never happen, only in the Fantasy World of Glue. FDH has lots of competition from other nationals bringing down salaries of them all. Extreme propaganda, sabagay sumusunod lang si Brion (do I know him?).

Baldoz, Baldoz, Baldoz… you’ve gone a long way dancing with every tune. Recruitment agencies are born to collect placement fees from any overseas applicants, alam mo ‘yan.

That’s a good one Mrivera, MPC and Phd in eco manipulation.

“Love-hate relationship of GMA, JDV unfolds”

Federal Republic of Luzon in the offing

    Northern Luzon for JDV

Pampanga Corridor-Greater Metro Manila for GMA

    Batangasia for Ermita

    Bicolandia for Villafuerte

  37. chi chi

Signs of spooked Glue.

  38. Chi,

Walang hiya talaga iyang babaeng iyang.

    Hudas talaga iyang mag-asawang iyan!

    Hi Anna!
Kasi ba naman you’ve enumerated all the “tuso and ganid” ng bayan led by the “maitim na Gilagid, at dilaw na mga ngipin, ba kamo?”
Eh, si DOJ Gonzalez…where do you classify him?

French shun Halloween ‘gimmicks’ —-BBC News

Last Updated: Tuesday, 31 October 2006, 17:52 GMT

Halloween is said to be dying in France after a short-lived bonanza, according to media reports.

It seems the festival, which came to prominence in the late 1990s, is in decline because it is perceived as “too American”.

An association called No to Halloween – which was set up to combat the trend – has now wound down as a result of the festival’s waning appeal.

It said Halloween was artificially inflated to serve commercial interests.

“There was no need for the group to exist any more,” former president Arnaud Guyot-Jeannin told Reuters news agency.

“Halloween was a marketing gimmick aimed mainly at children. It’s a big festival of consumption selling outfits, masks, gadgets and it couldn’t last forever,” he added.

As a result, supermarkets are reported have lost interest in the festival this year.

“Apart from a few local celebrations, Halloween is no longer taken into account by our stores,” Thierry Desouches of Systeme U supermarket told Catholic newspaper La Croix.

“This lack of interest is real in all big-name supermarkets,” he added.

“Our Halloween sales have been falling by half every year since 2002,” Franck Mathais of toy retailer La Grande Recre told Le Monde newspaper.

    ‘Anti-Americanism’

Benoit Pousset, head of costume company Cesar, attributed the festival’s demise to “a cultural reaction linked to the rise of anti-Americanism”.

The company itself is thriving in the US where – through its division Disguise – it provides one-third of all the Halloween costumes sold in the country.

Opposition to the festival is especially strong in French religious quarters, with the Catholic church seeking to promote All Saints’ Day as the celebration of choice at this time of year.

Halloween grew alongside other “Anglo-Saxon” imports such as Valentine’s Day or the stag or hen party which have become increasingly popular in recent years, correspondents say.

  45. Gloria, fan ni JdV? Sinong may sabi? I doubt it, because this crook is a fan of ONLY herself! Akala niya mas mataas siya kahit kanino, kahit siguro Poong nasa langit! May tupak nga kasi sa ulo!

Basta puede ba, PATALSIKIN NA, NOW NA!

  46. Anna,

I’m told that those taking up training as caregiver, Super atsay/atsoy are made to serve without salary at some institution owned by amigas and amigos of the Bansot and/or people at the DoLE. Racket everywhere. Why don’t they stop this gimmick? Talamak na talaga.

    PATALSIKIN NA, NOW NA!

  47. nelbar nelbar

    ystakei,

  48. chi chi

Sabi ng isang kilalang Filipino economist noon (I don’t want to wake up the dead by naming), “Hindi lang Jones Bridge and ibebenta ni Joe de Venecia, pati ang buong Pilipinas para makuha ang gusto.”
Glue and JDV have a very strong karmic link! Kailan kaya maniningil ang “kuya Satanas”?
