Ang terorismo ay lumalago sa isang environment na mahina ang liderato.
Natabunan ng pagbabalik ni Hello Garci ang balita noong unang linggo nitong buwan tungkol sa dalawang militanteng Indonesian na umalis sa Jemaah Islamiyah at nagpatayo ng base sa Mindanao.
Ang dalawang Indonesian ay sina Dulmatin at Umar Patek at kasama sila sa operasyon na pagbomba sa Bali noong 2002 kung saan sobra sa 200 ka tao, karamihan Australian, ang namatay. Si Dulmatin ay isang eletronics specialist at kilala sa kanyang galing gumawa ng bomba. Si Patek naman raw ay magaling sa recruitment. May patong na $10 milyon para sa ulo ni Dulmatin at $1 milyon naman kay Patek.
Pumasok raw sa Mindanao ang dalawa sa tulong mga miyembro ng Moro Islamic Liberation Front, na nakikipagusap sa pamahalaang Arroyo. Ngunit nasa pagkukupkup sila ng Abu Sayyaf.
Mahirap kasi ipaghiwalay ang MILF at Abu Sayyaf dahil ang marami sa kanila, miyembro ng parehong grupo.
Noong isang linggo, guest sa Bulong-Pulungan sa Westin Philippine Plaza si Maria Ressa, na ngayon ay nasa ABS-CBN. Dating nasa CNN si Maria ay kinikilala siyang eksperto sa terrorism.
Sabi ni Maria, lahat raw na mga pasabog ng ginawa ng Al Qaeda ni Osama bin ladin, kasama na ang pagpasabog sa World Trade Center noong September 9, 2001 ay may links sa Pilipinas. Ang JI ay bisig ng Al Qaeda dito sa Asia.
Ang pagpatayo ng base ng dalawang militanteng Indonesian sa Mindanao ay nagpapahiwatig na sa pag-akala nila mas madali silang gumalaw rito. Isa na siguro ang sitwasyong pulitikal dito sa bayan ngayon kung saan ang liderato ay hindi ginagalang ng mga tao.
Katulad ng ng anti-terror bill na nahihirapan maipasa ng administrasyon sa Kongreso dahil ang suspetsa ay gagamitin ni Arroyo ito hindi laban sa terorismo kungdi sa kanyang mga kalaban sa pulitika. Paano naman sa kanilang definition ng terorismo, magra-rali ka lang pwede ka nang terorista.
Dahil sa wala tayong anti-terrorism law, maraming lusot ang mga terorista.
Iyan ang pakay ni John Negroponte, director for intelligence ni George Bush, sa kanyang pagbisita dito sa Pilipinas nong isang linggo. Alalang-alala na ang Amerikano sa sitwasyon.
Patuloy ang kapit ni Arroyo kahit karamihan sa mga Pilipino ay walang tiwala sa kanya.Mahina na siyang lider. Kaya, habang tumatagal si Arroyo sa pwesto, lalong sasamantalahin ng mga terorista ang pagkakataon at palalawakin ang kanilang aktibidades.

Many thanks for bringing to my attention the growing influence of the blogsphere. As I do not maintain my own blog, I am naturally not aware of the extent to which people now visit the blog sites of others. But you may be right — this is the democracy of the future.

Egos aside I believe our generation has a big say in

Hindi mo man napupuna ay nakabukana na ang Pasko. Ayaw mo sana munang isipin pero makulit at sumisiksik sa utak mo. Kasi naman ay kailangan mo na raw mamili upang maiwasan ang mataas na presyo pagdating ng Disyembre. Pero ang problema, mura man o mahal ang bilihin ay wala ka namang pambili. Idagdag mo pa ang tumaas na presyo ng gasolina at ng LPG at talagang masisira ang Pasko mo. Paano na ang Filipino? Kung ganito ang takbo ng utak mo, gusto mo pa bang matuloy ang Pasko?
Madaling sabihin na hindi ang mga ito ang tunay na diwa ng Pasko. Na ito ay wala sa mga bagay na materyal. Pero huwag mong sabihin iyan sa mga kumakalam na sikmura dahil hindi nga nasayaran ng almusal gayong eto na at noche Buena na. Kailangan pa bang bumaba ang Dios mula sa langit, dumampot ng limang tinapay at tatlong isda, paramihin ito at pakainin ang milyong-milyong nagugutom upang matuloy lamang ang Pasko? Pagbulay-bulayan natin ang apocryphal story na ito:

FPJ, behold the man!
I did not want him to run for President but when he did I was for him and voted for him. Simply because he was a man. And this is more than you can say of those in government today. No one can approximate what he is and what he has become to the Pilipino people.
He was not a General and therefore cannot be called an officer but he was definitely more of a gentleman than all of them put together. He run for President against what he thought was a lady and like a true gentleman did not go on an attack mode against her. A gentleman to the core with lots of courage but who would not want to put the lives of his people on the line for his benefit.
Compare him to Angie Reyes who abandoned Erap during the time “na pipitan na ng bay_g.” FPJ stood by his friend even when erstwhile ally Orlando Mercado and godson Bong Revilla demanded the ouster of Erap. The soldiers blinked and forgot the chain of commnand. But FPJ did not blink a bit but supported Erap.
I cannot forget what Dinky Soliman said in her testimony that they sided with Gloria in the last elections because they did not want “another actor to become President.” And look what they posted on the Filipino people – “an actress par excellance without a movie credit to her name but nevertheless deserving of the Best Actress Award.” And the man they are still putting down is not a mere actor but THE NUMBER ONE ACTOR of the land. A self-made Man who is bigger than life. But most important of all a man TRUSTED by more than 13 million voters, 2 million of them merely NOTED but not COUNTED.
Compared to him all those in government today are dwarves. FPJ, the man.
An appropriate thought, Bernie, as we remember him on his first death anniversary today.
