    Ms. Ellen,
I wasn’t surprised that your blog has been visited “over a million times…since it started Oct. 28, 2005” since, in my opinion, your blog is very informative and the reflects the sentiments of the majority of the Filipinos. The discussions are lively and participated by a cross section of bloggers.

I think many will agree that your blog has made “life worth living,” Ms. Ellen.

  2. Mrivera Mrivera

chabeli, i agree. one good point here is nationalism being propagated thru information. for us who are either living or working in other countries, sending comments thru ellen’s blog is one way of keeping the flame of hope burning.

    ellen, more power!

One attraction to the blog is Ate Ellen Tordesillars herself. Her simple writing style and her simple ways
endeared her to the bloggers and readers.

But adding spice is the intelligent discussion being conducted which according to Chabeli “discussions are lively and participated by a cross section of bloggers.”

In this regard, I would like to re-post what I wrote on
    December 22nd, 2006 at 12:29 pm:

Ate Ellen and her wonderful bloggers here, coming from the cross section of Filipinos in every nook and corner of the world, have one common goal, the ultimate ouster of the forked-tongue woman by the stinking river. So, we might call this forum:
    Ellen’s
    B-eautiful people
    L-inking for the
    O-uster of ugly face
    G-loring

sama ako ng sampu sa sinabi ni chabeli. your blog, ms. ellen, doesn’t just make your life worth living but ours too. and you made mine bearable. everyday, i feel like a lonesome desertfox howling in the wilderness. but at the end of the day, pag-uwi ko sa bahay, feeling ko hindi na ako nag-iisa, nandiyan kayo to whom i can reach out and share my feelings and ideas. hindi man tayo pisikal na magkadaup-palad, magkaugnay naman ang ating mga damdamin, pananaw at paninindigan.
maraming salamat at mabuhay ka, ms. ellen!

  6. Mrivera Mrivera

Congratulations, Ellen! I am not however surprised because everyday you’ve made our visits worth while! I may not have shared a lot but I never missed reading what you’ve posted everyday.

Congratulations ellen for the Million mark and may you’ll have more million visitors to celebrate the making of a better Philippines.

  10. One thing sure is that as far as I am concered, this blog is really “addictive”!

Like Chi, I blog here in between jobs/works as I can’t resist peeping through my computer (desktop and laptop or whichever is near) to this blog, and not being able to resist the temptation to express a thought or responding or adding at a great risk to what others say as I am told of the many spies, internet brigaders, et al working for the Great Switik, who has been depleting the treasury in bribing those she orders to do as she wishes, answer to her beck and call, and doing things according to her wiles and whims..

Still, I don’t consider blogging here, though threatening with some of us allegedly rumoured to be now in the blacklist and barred entry to the Philippines on order of the Great Switik, opposing and criticizing the crooks in the Philippine government and the Americans, who think and still treat Filipinos as if they are still under US occupation and rule as being undignified!!! In fact, reminding Americans that the Philippines is no longer a territory of the US of A is just the right thing to do. If the Americans threaten to discontinue the VFA for the sake of the horny US soldier who now claims innocent of raping a Filipino woman even when evidences can prove he has committed a crime.

Filipinos should say, “No way! Mabulok ka, Smith!” And saying this is for me NOT undignified but proper!!!

  11. and happy holidays ellen.

  12. John:

I sell the Erap biopic to Filipinos in Tokyo with the “Hello Garci” CD at 1,000 yen. No gimmick, just plain and simple truth! I got a copyright authorization from the producers as a matter of fact, and over in Japan, it is the only thing that counts.

Freedom of speech? You bet, we have it in real democratic Japan! Philippines? Forget it! Under the Great Switik, it is a totalitarian rule with or without the formal declaration of Martial Rule.

PATALSIKIN NA, NOW NA! ‘KAKASAWA NA ANG MUKHA NI GREAT SWITIK! ILAN PA KAYA ANG NALOLOKO NG UNGAS NA IYAN? I WONDER! 😡

    Ellen:

Congratulations! You should be proud! What made it succesful is the courage you’ve demonstrated over the year in pursuing the divine justice for all the Pilipinos, and most importantly your honesty to provide facts to the bloggers.

One Million Warm Bodies is exactly the answer to rid of the parasites occupying the House of the People, and single handly you did it in a year where many have tried for over six years. I hope you continue this blog for a long time to come, at least ’till the main objective has ended. Your country has enlisted you for it seems an impossible task. But, you’re doing your share of the burden. Again, congratulations!

A million? I could be the number one millionth member. If Ms. Tordesillas were to run for public office today, I’m sure she will win easily.

pero yung laban naman ni pacquiao morales, on the day the fight finished (sa umaga manila time) with pacman winning in 3 rounds, sa gabi on the same day, kumalat na kaagad yung pirated dvds ng pacquiao morales fight sa quiapo, fresh off the dvd copying machines there.

i know. i saw the dvds being sold immediately after the fight sa gabi, sa quiapo.

    Hi Ellen

I join the million others who congratulate you on a job well done on your blog.

A million hits can only be surpassed by millions of warm bodies in answer to the cries of a million bloggers.

  17. TonGuE-tWisTeD TonGuE-tWisTeD

Heheh.

  18. alitaptap alitaptap

Ellen, based on the numbers you provided, my calculator cranked out 102 visits per hour on any given day, 24/7. Am pretty sure dumbunye and representathieves keep coming back to read your blog, even if seared by the fiery comments of this forum. In a sense, they (dumbunye & co.) are like moths risking being burned, if only to feel the pulse of public opinion. That alone gives your blog a unique distinction as the thermometer of public opinion.

  19. Diego K. Guerrero Diego K. Guerrero

Thanks God, I’m the lucky 1,000,000th + visitors. Malacanang Propaganda chief Ignacio Bunye is allergic to numbers (random surveys). Numbers don’t lie.

  20. You are right, Tongue. It’s easy to believe that many of those recorded visits are from malacañang agents who are very efficient in monitoring what others who are not with them are saying.

I welcome them to this blog. I just hope that they learn something from what are written here.

  21. The fact that this blog is in the top 30 of the more than 1,600 (check out http://www.pinoytopblogs.com)blogs in the country shows that many of us,Filipinos, are keenly aware with what is happening in our political lives and want to do something about it.

Considering the unabashed bias of this blog, it is also an indication of the sentiments of many Filipinos.

I don’t see in the top blogs those that sing praises to Gloria Arroyo.

The more reason to keep the faith in the Filipino people.

  22. BTW, the top 20 blogs deal mostly with entertainment, cooking, eroticism, digital technology.

That also indicates our fondness for the lighter things in life. That’s why we survive amidst adversities.

  23. John:

If you need the Erap Biopic, it is being distributed by all torrent/iso sites. You will need a bittorrent client though to download it.

Otherwise, give Ellen your postal address, and I’ll send you a copy complete with the Garci tapes.

  24. It’s actually easy to spot the Great Switik bloggers. Most of the time they show the same “kababuyan” of their “amo”—the Great Switik and her Fatso!

Mabuhay ka, Ellen, for this terrific blog!!! Let us not forget though that the ChaCha is not yet over. The Great Switik is simply biding for time. She won’t give up apparently, because she wants to be a queen and to brush shoulders with the remaining royalties around the world! Kakahiya!

    PATALSIKIN NA, NOW NA!

    ang balita:

    National (as of 10:43 PM)

(2nd UPDATE) ‘No tsunami warning for RP’

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) denied reports that a tsunami is headed toward the Philippines following the earthquake that rocked southwestern Taiwan Tuesday night, ABS-CBN News reported.

Renato Solidum, PHIVOLCS director, belied Web reports that a one-meter high tsunami is on its way to Basco, Batanes.

Solidum said the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii has not released any tsunami warning.

The PHIVOLCS chief, however, advised residents in low-lying areas to move to safer ground as a precaution.

A quake with a magnitude of 5.8, meanwhile, was recorded in Basco between 8:28 p.m. and 8:34 p.m. Tuesday. The quake was too small to create a tsunami, PHIVOLCS earthquake monitoring said.

Wires reports earlier said that a tsunami was on its way to the Philippines following Taiwan’s powerful earthquake.

The US Geological Survey’s National Earthquake Information Center in Denver, Colorado, meanwhile, said the quake in Taiwan occurred at 8:26 p.m. It had a magnitude of 7.1 and a depth of 10 kilometers.

The tsunami threat after the earthquake Tuesday was reported two years after the December 26, 2004 tidal wave that struck Southeast Asia

If you are going to get married next year say October 27, 2007 sa alin mang bahagi ng UK masasabi nila kung may snow, uulan o aaraw sa araw at oras na yun.

  28. You can get copies of Erap’s biopic for free from the office of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada.

  30. Robert V. Maich Robert V. Maich

yes ellen it really looks nice and “professional” (may kunting alam)sa wordprocessing. salamat. dito pala na post yung tungkol sa tsunami.

  31. You bet, Ellen, you’re being visited by the Malacanang operators. Same case with other Philippine fora, especially those that are advocating strongly the removal of the Great Switik, and being monitored I am told by the daughter herself, who blogs in various aliases!

On my part, I have installed some programs recommended by my provider and my friends in the police to clean up my PC and for filing these intruders for some experiment being conducted by authorities in Japan for a better implementation of the new Internet Law of Japan to protect my PC.

It’s what the Great Switik has been doing in fact. Serves her for cheating and stealing votes. If she has not done such crooked things, she would not be too worried about people who would want her out and sent to jail.

In due time, they will pay for their crimes. Sabi nga, “Crime does not pay!”

    PATALSIKIN NA, NOW NA!

    Wish ko lang. Heheh.

Really? Too bad we still have to wait till Oct 27, 2007 to verify. Dito rin naman ah, look at calendars. Napre-predict nga kung high tide or low tide, in advance.

(im not saying that weather forecasting here is the best and the most accurate in the world)

Tsk tsk tsk. Colonial mentality of Pinoys. More American than Americans. More British than the British.

Quake off Taiwan disrupts communications —-Yahoo!® News

By STEPHAN GRAUWELS, Associated Press Writer Wed Dec 27, 2:20 AM ET

    The Associated Press

TAIPEI, Taiwan – A strong earthquake off Taiwan’s southern coast damaged undersea cables, disrupting phone and Internet service Wednesday in much of Taiwan, China and Japan.

Repairing the cables could take three weeks, but the situation will improve daily, said Lin Jen-hung, vice general manager of Chunghwa Telecom Co., Taiwan’s largest phone company.

The earthquake jolted Taiwan late Tuesday, prompting a tsunami alert on the second anniversary of the Dec. 26, 2004, waves and quake that killed 230,000 in south Asia. No large waves materialized but two people were killed when their home collapsed.

The quake damaged two of the seven undersea cables near Taiwan used by several countries to route calls and Internet traffic, Chunghwa said. Crews fixing the cables would have to pull them up and transfer them to a ship for repair, the company said.

The damage to the two lines, located in the south, cut off 50 percent to 60 percent of Chunghwa’s overall telephone capacity, the company said. Most severely affected were connections to China, Japan and Southeast Asian countries, it said.

The company also lost 60 percent of its telephone service to the U.S.

Chunghwa said 98 percent of Taiwan’s communications capacity with Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong was disrupted.

Hong Kong telephone company PCCW Ltd., which also provides Internet service, said the quake cut its data capacity in half. Many Internet users were unable to access Web sites in parts of America, Taiwan and South Korea. Calls to Taiwan were not going through.

In China, Internet access was cut or had become extremely slow, said an official from China Netcom, the country’s No. 2 phone company. The official, who would not give his name, said the cause was thought to be the earthquake.

Businesses in various parts of the city also said they were experiencing Internet access problems.

CCTV, the state-run television network, said China Telecom Corp., China’s biggest phone company, was contacting counterparts in the U.S. and Europe about using satellites to make up for the shortfall.

KDDI Corp., Japan’s major carrier for international calls, said Thursday that its fixed-line telephone service was affected.

KDDI spokesman Haruhiko Maeda said customers were having trouble making calls to India and the Middle East, which are usually routed through cables near Taiwan. Maeda said the company was rerouting calls to go through the U.S. and Europe; the company did not know how long it will take to repair the cables.

Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said that international roaming service provided by Japan’s major three telecommunications companies — NTT DoCoMO, KDDI, and Softbank, has been affected. Ministry official Akira Yamanaka said that some customers were unable to make calls using their cell phones in countries including Taiwan.

South Korea’s largest telecom company, KT, said that lines it uses were damaged, affecting dozens of companies and institutions, including South Korea’s Foreign Ministry.

The quake was felt throughout Taiwan. The U.S. Geological Survey estimated its magnitude at 7.1, while Taiwan’s Central Weather Bureau measured it at 6.7. It was followed eight minutes later by 7.0 magnitude aftershock, the USGS said. A 5.9-magnitude aftershock struck early Wednesday, the Central Weather Bureau said.

Two members of one family were killed when their four-story home collapsed in the southern Pingtung County township of Hengchun. Six other members of the family were rescued from the rubble early Wednesday, the National Fire Agency said. Forty-two people were injured.

High-rise hotels swayed violently in the southern city of Kahosiung, the CTI Cable News reported.

Quakes frequently shake Taiwan, which is part of the Pacific’s “Ring of Fire,” an arc of volcanos and fault lines encircling the Pacific Basin. Most are minor and cause little or no damage. However, a 7.6-magnitude earthquake in central Taiwan in September 1999 killed more than 2,300 people.

One never knows when a big one hits.

More than a million hits, ha!

  40. Mandirigma:

I have experienced the slight jolts thrice since I came here at the Bay Area. The epicenter is said to be somewhere in Berkeley which is about 30 minutes from my Mother’s. But as far as I am concerned, it is nothing compared to the tremors we experience almost daily in Japan.

As admonished by leaders of our church, I have in fact stored food good for the three of us in my immediate family in Japan to last us for at least 3 months complete with sleeping bags, thermals, helmet and headgears made of quilts.

I have volunteered a lot of times helping distribute relief goods to victims of natural calamities in Japan. At least, over in Japan, each local government has a storage of relief goods to be distributed to the needy immediately after a disaster strucks. Our government does not depend on outside help because its policy is self-sufficiency and self-reliance.

These natural disasters and calamities in fact are oftentimes God’s way of telling people of His displeasure as in the story of the great flood during the time of Noah.

  41. Nelbar:

I just called up my son. He said, there was nothing wrong with our Internet access despite the Taiwan quake. At least, as far as our connection is concerned, we are not affected by the Taiwan earthquake.

Be careful about false claims by communication thieves in the Philippines who are taking advantage of this earthquake to cover up for their inefficiency.

  42. mandirigma mandirigma

I can just imagine how uncertain the residents of Japan are since the country is also earthquake prone. However, I know that countries like Japan have contingency plans and are prepared for such eventuality.
