Rage against Comelec cheating

Sorry for the late posting. I have been very busy shuttling between coverage and my medical check up.

Scenes from the May 23, 2007 rally in front of the Philippine International Convention Center where the Comelec is holding the canvassing of votes for the senatorial contest.

The rains fell as we started the rally but no one left. Some 3,000 made their voices heard condemning election cheating and demanding the resignation of Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos.

I went to the rally with Soleil. I met Skip there.

There were a lot of prominent personalities who joined the rally. Aside form those in the picture were Armida Siquion-Reyna and her movie director son, Carlitos with wife, Bibeth Orteza, Satur Ocampo, Teddy Casiño, Rene Saguisag, eye doctor Minguita Padilla, Sonia Roco, Nikki Coseteng, Jess Paredes of Kapatiran.

Trillanes warns of backlash if cheats don’t stop

    BY ASHZEL HACHERO

GENUINE Opposition candidate Antonio Trillanes IV yesterday warned of a backlash against the Arroyo administration if it does nothing to stop cheating in the election.

“They can try to cheat. They can misunderstand the people’s will as they have done in the past but this time they are proven wrong and if they insist, they risk losing their power altogether,” he said.

He said he is confident of winning a slot in the Senate despite his precarious standing in the canvass.

Latest results of the National Movement for Free Election’s quick count showed Trillanes in 11th place with 7,367,629 votes. In the latest Comelec tally he is also in 11th place with 8,036,988.

He said their own survey showed him still winning even if the results in Maguindanao and Lanao del Norte, where there were reports of massive fraud, would be counted.

Proof of ARMM fraud bared in video footage

    2007/05/26

The Genuine Opposition yesterday put its money where its mouth is, as GO winning senatorial candidate Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson yesterday bared before the media incontrovertible proof of cheating actively engaged in by police and military elements, as well as the Commission on Elections (Comelec) officers through a dated and timed video footage taken from a cellphone, along with witnesses and affidavits all attesting to the poll fraud that occured in Lanao del Sur. http://www.tribune.net.ph

Thanks for sharing the pictures and all the information shown. Do take care of yourself.

  9. Ellen:

We’re planning a press conference and a rally in Japan to coincide with what people back home will plan to do in case Abalos insist on counting those fake CoCs, etc. that should have been considered null and void with all those teachers willing to stand witness against those abusers in areas where the Pandak has ordered votes to be tampered with.

Baka mapahiya si Pandak like when concerned Japanese citizens protested against her when she arrived in Tokyo, especially when the Japanese government is now willing to hear complaints re extrajudicial killings and squandering of public funds including ODA grants from Japan. Galit na galit si Pandak, but unlike in the Philippines, officials here do not and cannot ignore public outcry against these atrocities being committed against Filipinos with hired killers even paid with grants from Japan. That is why all that Pandak actually got are smiles and “Ah, so?” from people she talked with during her private visit here. this week.

Araw-arawin ang protests against the dirty elections being propagated by the Pandak through her appointees at the Comelec.

  10. chi chi

    Rose,

And I think as Yuko said in a previous thread the eyes of foreign media are quite focused on him, too.

  11. xanadu xanadu

The latest proof of election fraud as gathered by the GO-Party List Task Force are sworn statements by no less than members of the Board of Inspectors detailing what happened in their precincts in Maguindanao. Panawagan lang sa GO leadership to look after the welfare of these courageous people who risked their lives on line in coming out with their testimonies.

In another development, Sen. Trillanes was asked to comment on Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez’s remarks describing him as too “immature” to be a senator and he said: “Look who’s talking. He should undergo psychological evaluation. Our justice secretary is psychologically unstable”.

I definitely am anti-Honasan but if he truly won those votes 8 million plus of them, then I shall respect the voice of the Filipino people. He must serve as member of the Senate.

Ellen, you say RAGE against Abalaos and his incompetent Comelec election cheating team (unity)? I say they should be burned alive for STEALING, abetting and aiding the current Malacanang leadership TO STEAL THE DEMOCRATIC RIGHTS of the Filipinos, the one and only right where they are in total equality with the rest of Filipino mankind.

  14. mami_noodles mami_noodles

    What Ms. Siguion-Reyna wrote is this;

“Backtracking from his promised proclamation of “at least nine senators” today, Benjamin Abalos late Thursday night reasoned certificates of canvass that could yet possibly yield four to five million votes hadn’t been tabulated, specifically mentioning CoCs from Manila, the whole of Davao and Cebu.

The magic begins; witchcraft takes over.

Our heads still reeling from the blatant Comelec manipulation for the disqualified and unqualified Joselito Cayetano’s name on the official list of candidates, it’s all systems go for the eventual dislodging of the three lowest-scoring Genuine Opposition senators from the winning column, namely, (the qualified) Cayetano, Trillanes and Pimentel.

As of this writing, special elections are being held in 13 towns in Lanao del Sur, where 100,000 votes are at stake. The counting there will be honest for the Comelec and the administration to be able to stick tongues out at us, and say, belat. But it’s while all eyes are glued on that hotspot that the Comelec coven of warlocks and witches will weave wonders and use the much, much bigger uncounted four to five million votes and make kalabit, here and there, to push any three of Zubiri, Recto, Defensor and Pichay in.

In hindsight, we may realize the evildoers set up the 12-0 TU victory in Maguindanao for us suckers to discover and make pivot of our protest, the veritable wool over our eyes, to give them great room for large-scale babuyan never before seen by the civilized world, a template they’ll most likely use in the count of 2010.

It’s no joke, guys. You might still end up calling the vegetable senator: Itatanim siya ng Comelec sa Senado — kung papayag tayo”

    Talaga nga naman!

  15. chi chi

“Sen. Trillanes was asked to comment on Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez’s remarks describing him as too “immature” to be a senator and he said: “Look who’s talking. He should undergo psychological evaluation. Our justice secretary is psychologically unstable”.

Hahahah!

The difference, according to reports, was that “reelected Mayor of Navotas, Tobias “Toby” Tiangco, said: “Navotas delivered. The opposition candidates won without resorting to cheating.”

Except of John Osmena, pasok lahat ang GO, the 2 others are the independent candidates.

  17. xanadu xanadu

Sangayon sa Manila Standard, dalawang congressman pa ang naging spokesman ng COMELEC justifying the deferment of the proclamation of the 9 leading senatorial candidates as earlier announced.

Votes from Mindanao provinces and other thickly populated areas could spell the big difference in the canvassing of poll results, and could possibly enable three other Team Unity candidates to enter the winners’ circle. Congressmen Antonio Cerilles and Douglas Cagas cited this as reason for the Commission on Elections to defer the proclamation of the winning senatorial bets. Comelec Commissioner Benjamin Abalos had good reason to defer the proclamation since the votes from these areas could alter the standings in the senatorial race. Kitam? May niluluto talaga. Magkakakutsaba talaga ang mga hinayupak!

  18. Elvira Sahara Elvira Sahara

    Ellen,
Talagang Comelec people will try its best , its very best to insert other TU candidates! Suicide na ang TU team spearheaded by Tianak with Abalos at her side!
I’m still offering special prayers for all of you!

  19. Etnad Etnad

Puweeee walang yagbols …..

  20. cocoy cocoy

The upcoming especial election in Lanao will ensure the victory of 3 TU candidates Recto,Zubiri,Defensor or Pichay. That’s about 300,000 more thousand votes.

Cocoy: Sa 300,000 or more votes na sinsabi mo wala bang kahit isa ay boboto kay Trillanes, Pimentel or Cayetano?
ystakei: According to Malacanang- the trip to Japan was a success! At bilyon daw ang pasalubong ni GMA? The rage on Election cheating and all the rallies seems “inutil” pero kung mayroong rally dito sa East coast- sasali ako.

It’s true that there’s no peace in Mindanao Island as long as Gloria Arroyo is in power. Philippine bogus President Gloria Arroyo and her military generals want all-out war in Mindanao just to please U.S. George W. Bush and his global war on terrorism. U.S. continuous support is at stake. US Special Forces are hunting down Islamic radicals Abu Sayyaff and JI-Al Qaeda in Sulu archipelago. The military tag Zamboanga and Basilan are two of the southern areas that face the most terrorist threats from local and regional extremist groups. The U.S. military will send 1,400 troops and three warships to participate in an annual joint training exercise in the southern Philippines next week.

Are U.S. Special Operations Forces engaged in an ‘offensive war’ in the Philippines?
    http://www.pcij.org/i-report/2007/us-troops.html

  25. The whole world knows that US Special Ops Forces are engaged in offensive warfare in the Philippines.

Seems only Gloria and her cabinet are the only government people who are not in the know.

The US Special Ops Forces started building up plans concretely for deployment in Southern Philippines sometime between 1998 and 1999. By September of 2000, it was well known in Western defence circles that the 2 Boeings which landed one after the other in Cebu were carrying intel elements as well as hardware for the setting up of base operations work. More specifically, a tarmac was built in Cotbato precisely for small aircraft landing purposes. The tarmac was built by the CIA.

In June 2001, a US asst secretary of defence boasted to a group of colleagues in Europe during lunch that the US would be back in the Philippines WHEN Estrada is impeached.

One of the people at lunch asked, “You mean, IF he is impeached…”, said US DoD asst secretary smirked and said ” He WILL be impeached!”

By December of the same year, a few top European conglomerates that had initially set up joint ventures in the country started to pull out. By May of 2001, one of the world’s largest conglomerates that had invested in the country, closed down its office. Reason, when the Americans come in, there’s no real business possible for them in the country.

In other words, the US is still fiddling with the Philippines. Away from the prying eyes in the South, they engage in combat work.

As an example, in 2002, when one of the top honchos of Abu Sayyaff was captured (alive) by the Navy SWAG/Seals, the Philippine military was not alone in the endeavour. While a young Naval lieutenant (can’t remember his name) led the pack that captured the Abu Sayyaff leader, back up support, was provided by the American troops who were stationed there. American night vision goggles were loaned on the spot to the Navy attacking team while US troops were on stand by with heavy weaponry.

The Abu leader was finally brought in for questioning but died the next day apparently of heart attack.

None of these things reached the press.

  26. The Abu leader was finally brought in for questioning but died the next day DIED (apparently) of heart attack.

Note: Everything I’ve stated up there is first hand info.

  27. Diego:

This idiotic criminal calling herself as President of the Philippines should be embarrassed everywhere she goes. Talagang makapal ang mukha.

Mindanao is being sacrificed by this idiot for her ambitions. I actually never had witnessed so many Moslems in Manila when we were there, and you wonder why they are now scattered around the country, even little children being sold to slavery in northern Luzon.

A year or two ago, I translated interviews of these displaced Moslems because of what seems to be more an enforced insurgency to give credence to these foreign military operations there being tagged as exercise, something that even in Japan where the US has kept big military installations but are being reduced now and exercises limited to uninhabited islands, and no Japanese being made as guinea pigs for this kind of operation.

I thought it was inhuman and unfair to these Moslems to be driven out of their lands because of the ambition of one stupid, idiotic criminal. Yes, these Moslems are literally being driven out of their lands. Filipinos should drive out these Americans, and soon, even Australians from these rich lands in Mindanao, which when lost to these “invaders” will mean more famine and poverty that the idiot tries to burden other countries with by sending Filipino workers in countries where they are now even being refused entry.

Over here, the Americans are very careful not to offend any Japanese as a matter of rule. In fact, they have made videos for use of people being newly assigned here to make sure that they do not get hitched with the law, written and unwritten for we do have unwritten laws based on ancient customs, rules and regulations.

In the Philippines, you have an idiotic criminal for president, who would give up a convicted foreign criminal to his embassy for custody, which is a blatant disregard for the rule of law of her country in exchange for US patronage of her ambition and continuous reign even when in fact she should have been disqualified, arrested, prosecuted and convicted for breaking too many laws of the land.

Filipinos in fact should be told of these abuses. They should not wait a minute to bring these cases to court even when we know that majority of the judges there are corrupt and in cahoot with this criminal who gets bolder and bolder to ignore the rule of law each day she remains occupying the palace by the murky river illegally and illegitimately!

  28. In Manila, the TUs cannot win, “for Manila has always proved to be for the opposition” according to a Barangay Captain that I have talked to. Everywhere, at home and abroad, the trend has been 9-1-2, 8-1-3 or 8-2-2 in favor of GO, and no matter what Abaloslos and his fellow vote-riggers do, the Filipinos have decided—YES TO GO, NO TO TU, and this means NO TO GLORIA MACAPAL ARROYO!

Indeed this election is a referendum on Gloria Macapal Arroyo a.k.a. Mrs. Pidal. I never actually call this idiotic criminal “president” because, for me, she isn’t.

She actually should have been sent to jail for grabbing the presidency in 2001 that she actually bragged about she got with the help of those military guys she called “her boyfriends,” and even by people who now join the rallies demanding for her removal, people who have actually helped her remove a duly elected president but she now persecutes and have eliminated.

In 2004, she made her appointees at the Comelec steal 1M votes from her rivals, particularly FPJ and Roco. In Japan, in fact, they succeeded in adding 300 votes unnnoticed that was the difference of the combined votes for FPJ and Roco in 2004. It was a case of simple arithmetic as a matter of fact that was never justified or explained to our satisfaction.

This time, we discovered that there was an attempt to slip in more or less 700 votes in favor of the TUtas, but we just had enough pollwatchers to make sure that no cheating would be done, causing even one embassy official to develop ulcers for something that he has been told to do against his will, good heart and sense of decency and morality. GO won with Filipino voters giving 8-1-3 and 9-1-2 votes in favor of GO in Tokyo and Osaka respectively.

We encourage everyone to conduct these democratic exercise of organizing protest rallies especially against these present activities of Comelec that should be abolished for proving to be a useless agency to keep elections in the Philippines clean. Mabuhay kayo!

  29. luzviminda luzviminda

They have lost credibility and therefore should all be replaced. Sabi nga ni Mr. Rod Kapunan of The Daily Tribune: “an office that now stands as a WRECKER of our Democratic Institution.”
And all these happening proves that Gloria Macapal-(Pidal) Arroyo is NOT THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES!!!

  30. cocoy cocoy

Malinaw na dayaan talaga.According to Abalos they could not proclaim the 9 senatorial winners yet ‘coz there are still more than 2 million votes to be counted.

  31. cocoy cocoy

    Rose;

  32. luzviminda luzviminda

Ako ay hindi naniniwala na may talagang ‘command vote’ diyan sa Mindanao o saan man. Maari pa ay ‘TAKUTAN VOTE’ or ‘PWERSAHAN VOTE’.

  33. Sinabi mo pa, Luz. Sa Hong Kong, Trillanes won because of the El Shaddai, sabi ng isang kaibigan ko doon. But we all know that Mike Velarde did not even endorse Trillanes as he allegedly made a deal to promote the TU with the Pandak as bullied by a Pandak intruder in this blog. Kaya sinong may sabing may “Command Vote”? I don’t even believe that the INC can influence its members in exercising their right to vote. I have relatives in fact who are INC but they have voted for GO in this election.

When they do not want to follow their leader’s endorsement, they just don’t vote as what happened in 2004. Hindi sila bumoto! Alam naman nila ang rule on the separation of church and state.

  34. You bet, takutan lang talga.

  35. Jun Lozada is not an operator, not a warrior; he’s an analyst and a diplomat. Pity… In a setting where you face the Pidals, you have no option but sometimes, to adopt the Rambo techniques, otherwise you get overrun.

Medyo “mahinhin” kasi si Jun Lozada.

  36. Sinabi mo pa, Anna. Sayang talaga ang taong iyan who has served his country and countrymen well. Nababayaran!

  37. chi chi

Blinky Tianak definitely knows where to get fake votes for her fave TUTAS!

Hahaha! Si Vilma ang governor ng Batangas! What happened to the once proud and intelligent Batangenos?! (Oopps, na offtopic)

  38. Chi, Ralph Recto was down to number 10, I think (I’m not sure of the exact ranking but down in the Magic 12)
in Batangas. Trillanes got more votes in Batangas than recto.

Batanguenos are still proud and intelligent.

  39. Statement of Laban ng Masa headed by former UP President Francisco “Dodong” Nemenzo:

GMA’s cheating machine is trying to edge out Antonio Trillanes, Alan Peter Cayetano, Koko Pimentel, and Grongo Honasan fromthe winning circle in order to accommodate Zubiri,Pichay,Defensor and Chavit. But the ineptitude of its oeprators in Maguindanao and elsewhere is undermining the credibility of the victory tehy hope to fabricate.

Notwithstanding the violence, disorder and fraud, the last elections may yet prove a historic event for producing a non-trapo senator and more significantly, a rallying symbol for change.

Confined to his prison cell, Capt. Antonio Trillanes was denied the freedom to campaign. But all over the country people – especially the youth – took up the cudgels for him.

The Joker maligned him as “the poster boy of rebellion.” His involvement in the Oakwood mutiny was the only issue Team Unity could raise against him. Thus, his spectacular performance in the elections shows that the people are not averse to extra-constitutional action as the ultimate means to oust an illegitimate, corrupt and repressive regime.

By refusing to apologize for Oakwood, trillanes turned the elections into a referendum on the myth of the politically neutral army. By calling for fundamental reforms, he articulated the people’s will.

Japan is not ready to commit new ODA grants with complaints even coming from Japanese citizens alarmed by the extrajudicial killings in the Philippines. Kahit na anong pagtatakip ng butas ni Pandak, taas kilay lang ang mga opisyal na hapon sa mga kabulastugan niya kasi mas matimbang ang reports ng mga mismong opisyal namin who have gone to the Philippines to do their own research.

Ang daming fact-finding missions done by private and government officials on these killings as a matter of fact. Hindi lang nga napa-publish in full ang kanilang mga reports, complete with pictures and other evidences that they were all done by the AFP on order of the criminals running the Philippines like hell!

Akala niya naka-score siya ha? Manigas siya.

Tomorrow she’s off to go to Australia and New Zealand. On the other hand, may naniniwala pa ba sa sinungaling na iyan?

Guess what? I got an unsolicited mail that I suspect is the new alias of the daughter. Sus ang papuri sa nanay niya! Tangi na, ang kapal din!

    Anna and Mrivera,

Hindi kayo kasali sa mga Vilmanians ha. You 2 are brilliant guys. 🙂

    Ellen,

  43. Mrivera Mrivera

    anna,

i’ve been telling here the US badly needs the philippines because why they want to establish an OP in the southern part where it will be easy for them to monitor movements of their supposed aggressors planning to attack their installations. our country’s strategic position provides america its much needed boost in intercepting their enemies’ plans and they will do everything to win the nod of anyone who is heading any administration.

  44. Magno,

Spot on analysis! The SOC (Sea Lanes of Communications) are down there. America needs a subservient territory/friend from which to operate. The Philippines serves the purpose hugely because all the other nations are not as subservient.

They need to access the Gulf with relative ease and speed and can be done only through the straits south of the Philippines.

Besides the monitoring aspects of the Islamic nations in that part of the region – essential, nay, vital for America to have a stronghold there.

  45. Chi,

Whhhhhaaaat? Si Vilma na ang governor? Oh frigging shit! I will sell my property and immigrate. I will go to Lagawe.

  46. Ellen,

This news item says it all, i.e., there will be changes in the Senatorial slots:

    http://www.philstar.com/index.php?p=49&type=2&sec=24&aid=4758

There are more than 96,000 registered voters in Lanao del Sur but Abalos claimed he could not readily ascertain how it would affect the fate of the candidates tailing in the senatorial race.

According to Abalos, the certificates of canvass from the province would no longer be brought to Manila for the national canvassing but to Marawi City, in the presence of poll watchdogs and representatives of various political parties.

The National Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel), meanwhile, claimed their volunteers were prevented by armed men from entering the polling precincts in Lanao yesterday.

According to Namfrel secretary general Eric Alvia, several of their volunteers were prevented by armed men in fatigue uniforms from witnessing the special elections.

“We are still not sure whether the heavily armed men were government forces or members of private armies, but many of them were in fatigue uniforms,” Alvia said.

    ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤
Abalos is paving the way, softening the blow already… Damn pillock!

  47. chi chi

    Oh yeah, Anna.

Sa inis, a friend of mine actually sold her pwesto sa palengke and bought a house in Pasay City for good.

  48. rose rose

Cocoy: Thanks for the info. Now I understand what “command votes” mean. Akala ko maraming na rin Moslems ang nakapag aral and with open mind on how to live in a society of peace and order. How to live in a civilized world. Hindi pala. Nakakalungkot.

  49. zen2 zen2

    anna:

sell off your property in Batangas, what’s gonna happen to your tiller-friends ? i hope you are not serious, but in case you are, maybe i can take those farmlots from you with the agreement that you can always have them back when Ate Vi finally makes her political exit. 🙂

but seriously now, am i mistaken, as many others do, in believing that Vilma Santos is the lesser-evil/better alternative to that of Armand Sanchez (believed by many as the operator behind the Batangas’ multi-million peso daily take on illegal jueteng)?

  50. cocoy cocoy

    Rose—-I asked my Moslem friend named Nur ,whom every moslem called “Hajji” about the process of voting practice of muslim based on their religious ideologies and he gave me this answer;

In Moslem doctrine—voting in a way in giving a testimony in favor of the person or a party whom one is voting. To vote for a person that one know is not worthy will be unlawful and a major sin because it is a way of a false testimony. When the muslim is voting for a candidate, they are actually giving testimony on the fact that the person or a party is trustworthy in their beliefs. But, in the situation where there is no worthy candidates, the vote should be given to the one who is better and more trustworthy than the other person. If that’s the case why Chavit Singson who’s not trustworthy garnered the highest vote in Muslim command votes?

Muslims in Maguindanao are being herded by their leaders under the false pretext of benefits, a block muslim or a command votes is essential for their interest and that their survival is dependent how they vote. They vote for a person like Moses who promise to bring them in Promise Land. Only those who are in power are promoting these promises, convince and coax to cast their votes under the guise of benefit, The voting matter to them confused their understandings in a political matters, they vote disregarding the outcome as long as price tag is laying in front. But, when pork is consumed or when zina is committed, the muslims are quick to respond. However, when democracy is at stake or when are told to vote there approval is no confusion upon the order of Datu Kiram. These is the Malacanang stooges are boasting about, the command votes of Muslims in Mindanao.

  51. Anna, I saw Lu Antonino and Darlene at the GO headquarters last Wednesday. But I didn’t have time to talk with them because I was rushing to meet with Soleil on our way to the PICC rally.

Nakakatuwa yung mga security guards talking while looking at Darlene (Lu arrived ahead) waiting for the elevator.

Another said, “Ang liit lang pala, ano? 90 lbs lang yata. Samantalang si pacquiao, natumba si Solis.”

Nakakatuwa. Darlene was just smiling and smiling to everybody.

  52. Hi Ellen,

Thanks for the news. Am I sooooo very glad that Darlene knocked out Pacquiao! That’s a double slap for the Pidals.

When things have settled down, i.e., election brou ha ha, I will ask my sis to send Darlene flowers on my behalf to Lu’s home in New Manila.

  53. Zen2,

You’re right! I can’t do that because my bantay derives income from there and besides where will Cimmaron live (my carabao?)

I happened to talk to my bantay’s wife by phone a couple of weeks ago because her husband texted me saying that a couple had been eager to know if the owner (me) would like to sell and they’ve been pestering them for my contact numbers. The couple apparently is a Pinay with a Syrian husband and are planning to retire in Pinas. I told my bantays that I wasn’t selling and all enquiries had to be coursed to my sis and mom.

If the couple persists, to give the number of Camp Crame or Camp Aguinaldo – heheheh!

  54. Chi,
