Stoking the fire in the AFP

Genuine Opposition senatorial candidate Antonio Trillanes IV has a good answer to the denial of AFP chief Hermogenes Esperon of reports attributing to him an order for military personnel to vote 12-0 in favor of Team Unity senatorial bets.

Speaking by phone at the Kapihan sa Maynila last Monday, Trillanes said: “Esperon will automatically deny that in the same way that he denied having participated in the Hello Garci operation.”

Esperon was one of the ranking military officers mentioned by Comelec Commissioner Virgilio Garcillano in his several conversations with Gloria Arroyo helping them in their operations to tamper with the results of the 2004 elections in Mindanao. At that time, Esperon, who was then AFP deputy chief for operations, was deputy chief of the military’s Task Force HOPE (Honest, Orderly and Peaceful Elections).

Retired generals warn of plot to hijack 14M votes

Say cheating plan covers 4 regions, 12 provinces

Esperon’s reply: a concoction

By Victor Reyes

AN umbrella organization composed of retired military and police generals and military-based groups said the Arroyo administration plans to cheat in 16 provinces and regions involving 14.7 million votes.

“Intelligence reports reveal the existence of Oplan Mercury Rising. The operational plan has identified specific areas where massive election fraud will be committed,” said a Bantay Boto document, read by Commodore (ret.) Ismael Appari.

Desperado

Interview with Trillanes

detention-center.jpgAntonio Trillanes IV, senatorial candidate of the Genuine Opposition, has admitted that four years of detention has sharpened his understanding of the political crisis confronting the country today.

In an interview in his detention cell in Camp Bonifacio, Trillanes offers no apology to what he and some 300 members of the Magdalo group did last July 27, 2003, which was to declare a withdrawal of support from a president who they believe betrayed the trust of the people.

Who’s next?

Makati Mayor Jojo Binay joined last Friday’s march for Jayjay Burgos, who was abducted more than a week ago.

We noticed that during the hike from Pioneer st. in Mandaluyong to the Edsa Shrine in Quezon City, Binay was constantly on the phone. Little did we know that a few hours later, we would be called to rally for him as the devious tentacles of Gloria and Mike Arroyo tried again to grab power in Makati.

Binay was at the march for Jayjay as a member of the Movement of Attorneys for Brotherhood, Integrity and Nationalism, Inc. (MABINI), a lawyers group that gave free legal assistance for victims of Marcos’ dictatorship. Other Mabini members at the march that we recognized were former Sen. Rene Saguisag, former Environment Secretary Fulgencio Factoran, and Ed Araullo.

Eddie Villanueva ng Jesus is Lord Movement.

Independent senatorial candidate Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan said he had a 15-minute meeting with President Macapagal-Arroyo in Malacañang Thursday night where he sought to “clear the air” about his cases at the justice department.

The President responded by saying: “If you think you are innocent, then go through due process,” Honasan said, quoting Ms Arroyo.
