Nobody delivers the message more effectively than Trillanes

Someone had to tell Migz Zubiri the despicable thing that he is doing and Sen. Antonio Trillanes took it upon himself to do it.

We applaud Trillanes for that.

Last Friday, in an interview after his oath-taking before barangay captain Ruben Gatchalian in Caloocan City, he blasted at Zubiri for insisting on taking the last senatorial race slot when, Trillanes said, he knew very well the people did not elect him for that position. He said: “I believe Congressman Zubiri knows deep in his heart that he benefited from cheating. If he is decent enough, he wouldn’t accept it because it is something you want your kids to emulate.”

Giving Zubiri a preview of how he would be regarded if he insists on imposing himself on the nation courtesy of Lintal Bedol’s manufactured votes, Trillanes said, “I would not want a cheat to join me in the Senate.”

Trillanes’ statement, jarring to the ears of Zubiri, was what those who are sick and tired of Comelec’s blatant maneuvers in Maguindanao have been wanting to deliver to the public.

Concerns have been raised that with the proclamation of the 11 senators-elect, Koko Pimentel would be left alone to fight attempts by Zubiri, with substantial help from Malacañang, to thwart the national will for the 12th senator in this year’s election using the fraudulent votes manufactured by Bedol, the Maguindanao election supervisor.

Leaks from Malacañang say that two weeks ago, Arroyo’s advisers were debating whether to operate for Zubiri or not. Arroyo was reportedly worried of a backlash if they forced a Zubiri win. They were observing the public’s reaction.

If they felt railroading the election for Zubiri would stir up passions, they would back down. If they felt the public would be content to let go of Pimentel or are now too tired to protest, they’d push Zubiri in.

Two Fridays ago (June 22), the opposition-aligned A Peaceful Organization held a press conference at the Manila Polo Club to show that the Genuine Opposition is behind Koko Pimentel in his battle for the last senatorial slot.

A week earlier, the same organization held a presscon for Trillanes where former Army chief Raul Urgello warned of a “decapitated” armed forces if Malacañang tried to deny the detained Magdalo leader his rightful place in the Senate.

Present in the June 22 presscon aside from Koko Pimentel were Makati Mayor and GO leader Jojo Binay and GO spokesman Adel Tamano. Of the opposition’s newly elected and re-elected senators, only Ping Lacson was there. Alan Cayetano, who was in Hong Kong, sent his lawyer Leila de Lima and issued a statement of support for Koko.

From his detention cell, Trillanes sent a strongly worded statement. He said: “The whole world knows now that Attorney Koko Pimentel is the true choice of the Filipino people for the 12th place in the recent senatorial election. Both Chairman Abalos and Congressman Zubiri know that for a fact.”

He said the 12-0 results in favor of Team Unity were fraudulent. He warned, “We would definitely not take lightly, any move by Comelec to desecrate the Maguindanaoans’ sacred right of suffrage by canvassing the manufactured results from the said province.”

Media largely ignored that presscon.

The next thing we knew, Comelec was canvassing the Maguindanao election results and the Supreme Court just stood by and watched, despite the incredible results.

It was 12-0 in favor of team Unity in Maguindanao but the this time it was no longer Chavit Singson who was the topnotcher. Zubiri, who if I remember right was number five in the first version of Bedol’s production, now had enough votes to whittle down substantially Pimentel’s lead.

The new Maguindanao election result has produced jokes about Bedol’s need for high-powered firearms to protect himself: Singson is hunting him.

Trillanes, using his enviable media impact, has reminded a public grown complacent that fraud is still being foisted on us in the person of Zubiri. It’s not time to put our guard down.

The new Maguindanao election results has produced jokes about Bedol’s need for high- powered firearms to protect himself: Singson is hunting him.

This is a melodrama scenario taken out in the script of Al Pacino’s Scarface. The Mafia and the Yakusa are competing against the Don’s head. Where is Ducat when we needed him?

  2. My take on this Dayana Zubiri, Ellen, is he definitely does not have any sense of propriety and decency at all.

What Filipinos should be enraged with is that Dimasidsing would not have been murdered if this crook has conceded and not insisted on getting those tampered votes to get the 12th slot that Koko Pimentel has rightfully won.

Pwe!

I back up Senator Trillanes and the two Pimentels on getting into the root of this matter, and thereby solve even the Dimasidsing murder case and the case of the still missing whistleblowers. Hopefully, Mayor Lim will be of help mobilizing his former detectives at the NBI to help solve this case. Ganoon lang naman kasimple.

If the people entrusted to safeguard the law, are the ones violating them (bedol et al) now who will the people trust?

To discourage any more of these disregard of the rule of law, I submit that any government official breaking the law, should be punished to the fullest, without mercy and also to forfeit any asset profited in doing so. By so doing, I also guarantee that in just matter of time the country will be a haven of law abiding public servants and citizens.

  4. The Yakuzas follow some rule of professional ethics. They cut off their fingers when they are unable to do what their boss tell them to do as in what the Unano has reportedly told these crooks to do for her sake in this midterm election.

Pwe!

Trillanes message is loud and clear, Dayana is the problem for having a severe disabilities of hearing impaired. Dayana need to make an appointment with otolaryngologist to restore his hearing with an implanted hearing device, Until his problem is resolve, Trillanes need to beat the pipe hard.It is very hard to communicate to a person who is suffering vertigo, the neurologist need to open his skull to repair the damage nerve that causes ear ringing.

I read an article deploring Senator Antonio Trillanes’ arrogance when he openly announced that for this country to move on, Gloria Arroyo must be ousted first. But that writer missed the point of Sen. Trillanes steadfast stance in going against Gloria Arroyo continued stay in Malacanang. It could be that up to this moment, Gloria Arroyo and her most despised aides have failed to understand why Sen. Trillanes have shown such arrogance if we can call it that way. They still failed to understand that it’s not actually the arrogance of Sen. Trillanes but the ARROGANCE of the majority of the voters who supported the cause of the opposition who believed in its political battlecry “Isang boto lang po laban sa nakaupo (Just one vote against the incumbent).” The elections result is a clear message: Ayaw na ng mga tao kay Gloria.

Sen. Trillanes is only delivering the message that it’s high time to oust Gloria Arroyo and everything that bedeviled the government will stop. In calling a spade for a spade, Sen. Trillanes’ message is to put to stop election fraud so that the likes of Daya na Zubiri who clearly benefited from cheating will not gain a foothold in the senate.

Sen. Trillanes’ message is crystal clear-Patalsikin si Gloria Arroyo. We expect a significant domino effect after the downfall of the Arroyo regime. As long as Gloria is in power, we just going in circle. GMA allies are reviving charter change. Abalos’ Comelec is business as usual after the Hello Garci political scam. The cycle of deceit and fraud must stop. Oust Gloria!

  11. I second the motion about removing the unano sooner than 2010, and if possible before the end of this year! Filipinos deserve not to be saddled with a criminal, for that is what this creep is for violating the Electon Code in 2004 and for treason and sedition in 2001 for ousting a duly elected president with the help of her fellow crooks in the rotten Philippine government.

And the only reason why they cannot arrest her yet together with her accomplices is that the very people running the police, courts, etc. now are the same accomplices and partners in crime.

  12. As for Senator Trillanes being arrogant, I don’t think so. This long-suffering patriot just don’t want to be influenced and tainted by any crook, and there are just too many mayabang journalists in the Philippines who are as crooked as the people they write so nicely about.

I don’t read most of them. I read Ellen, Ka Mentong, Lito Banayo, Tribune’s NCO and her other columnists, and Malaya’s editor. I don’t read even those Pidal propagandists at Malaya who must be earning big money promoting Mrs. Pidal and her fellow crooks in the rotten Philippine government, past, present and future . Nakakakunsumi lang!

  16. Comelec is already in a Catch 22 situation. It proclaims Zubiri, then the people might just make good the warning they aired through Senator Trillanes. It proclaims Koko, then it gets the ire of the powers-that-be: meaning, no government positions beyond the members’ mandatory retirement-meaning, they will have a busy retirement fighting off lawsuits upon lawsuits.

Comelec is simply being punished for monumentally underestimating the people’s intellect and capacity to rage against an offense to its soul.

Now, let’s assume for awhile and serve as a fulcrum to tip the balance between the two who are dying to grab the 12th senate seat. Practically speaking if I am Abalos I will give it to Koko and redeem the tarnished reputation of the COMELEC. Make a million pinoy happy and let the country move on. On the other hand, I let my kids to go to school on old car that emit a foul odor of hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide and Nox on the tailpipe instead of a glittering new polished Mercedes Benz along Diosdado Macapagal Blvd. The Pimentel will not sue me.

Now,we reverse the situation, let’s give it to Dayana. The only person that is happy is the Queen Engkantada,it doesn’t make any big difference in the Senate anyway, they are outnumbered by the opposition.Let’s just take Dayana to dinner and see what happen.

20. From Jaime Abasalon:

Would you now agree that it was a blunder on Erap and the opposition convenors not to have put a a true-blue blood opposition slate in the last senatorial election considering that thos who ran and won under the GO ticket are now making a deal with the GMA regime?

I had this premonition when the GO slate was announced , which I considered then as ” chopsuey ” that those former allies of GMA must not be trusted by the opposition. Look what is happening now in the senate presidency race?

The truth of the matter is is that, GMA must get a very friendly senate president in order that the much feared Blue Ribbon committee will not fall into the hands of the likes of Lacson to free GMA and FG and her cohorts ending up incarcerated like Erap. Therefore, to avert this zarzuela, Nene Pimentel must not run for the post and the winning opposition majority rally behind Villar to thwart the attempts of GMA allies hijacking the senate and become the majority from obscure minority right now.

Erap and opposition convenor should have gone pure opposition in putting up the senate slate as follows:-
    1). Teofisto Guingona
    2). Panfilo Lacson
    3). Dean Raul Pangalangan
    4). Lt.sg Antonio Trillianes
    5). Sonia Roco
    6). Nikki Coseteng
    7). Brig. Gen. Francisco Gudani
    8). Rene Saguisag
    9). Francisco Tatad Jr.
    10).Adel Tamano
    11).Gilbert Remulla
12). Either Loren or Escudero (what is your view, are they for real?)

As the hatred of the people for GMA is deep to the bones, I have no doubt that the GO slate as presented above will easily get 9 or 10 winners, considering the fact that the lovely Susan Roces will campaign mightily for the entire GO slate. It is not about money, as Antonio Trillanes has proven. It is pure marketing strategy or call it product strategy that will make up to 10 if not the entire 12 GO candidates winners in the last election…..by wide wide margin,as Susan Roces will campaign aggresively.

What prevented Susan is the riding on of Mr. Noted Kiko in GO’s ticket, only to dump GO last minute and run as independent kuno!

    Ma’m Ellen

Good post there by Jaime Absalon. It’s his opinion so please allow me to venture my own opinion.

    1. His line-up without Villar and Noynoy Aquino could have spurred the forming of a third party and it could be more disastrous for the opposition ticket. It was to the credit of Erap that the third force did not materialize (please read about it at the Inquirer, July 1 issue).
    2. The third party could be formidable with Villar, Pangilinan, Noynoy Aquino, Angara, Joker Arroyo and Recto. Tito Sotto and Tessie Oreta may have themselves included there instead of jumping to TU. Also Honasan.
3.It’s my view that Loren or Escudero could have also joined the third force because of party affiliation.
    4. At most, only Lacson, Trillanes could have make it as they actually did.
    5. Guingona, Tatad and Saguisag’s fate maybe compared to what Coseteng and John Osmena suffered.
    6. Tamano doesn’t have the necessary exposure yet and Remulla although youthful was not in the league of Chiz Escudero and Alan Cayetano who’s not in the list.
    7. Dean Pagalangan don’t have the name recall and Gen. Gudani was not exciting as Trillanes at that time.
    8. Granting that Lacson, Trillanes, Loren and Escudero made it under GO, chances are, the third force could have elected 7 or 8. The story is the same as today except that nobody could question their course of action.

I don’t think there’s a blunder there. The line-up they presented was the most acceptable at that time after so many efforts to forge a strong ticket. I don’t think there was really a true blue opposition to be reckoned with during the selection except for Lacson who was for Erap since the very beginning. The final list of GO candidates including Pangilinan was finalized based on a common ground, they are all against Gloria Arroyo. If those elected will finally wind up cavorting with the administration, if their ballgame but as I posted here two times already, hindi sila patatawarin ng mga tao.

  27. martina martina

They covered all areas so that whichever party wins, they will be there to regroup.

  28. Trillanes is effective because he is not tainted and he has the trust and confidence of at least 11 million Filipinos. What he says so far are the things we want to hear from someone like him who wants to be elected to a position in the government not to be the people’s boss but their representative and public servant. He’s the real macoy as a matter of fact!

I can’t help being reminded of some horror films where some exorcist tells the demon, “Get thee hence, Satan!” as when he refused to be dictated upon by Villar, et al. Definitely that is not being arrogant.

Senator Trillanes must have been reading his Scriptures as when Isaiah thus said, “Ye shall defile also the covering of thy graven images of silver, and the ornament of thy molten images of gold: thou shalt cast them away as a menstruous cloth; thou shalt say unto it, Get thee hence.” (Isa.30:22)

  30. Filipinos should keep on being reminded that if not for Zubiri, et al, Dimasidsing would have not been assassinated and the other two whistleblower would not have been kidnapped and now missing, and they could have stood as witness to the cheatings in Maguindanao.

Dapat sa gunggong na iyan iniimbestigahan. But look pati iyong Mrs. nakikisawsaw. Dapat diyan inaaresto! Bawal iyang ginagawa nila.

  31. I oppose Villar getting the Senate Presidency.

Senator Pimentel is not voluteering himself. If his fellow senators want him to be Senate President, he will accept it, no doubt, but for him to go around asking his fellow senators to vote for him for the Senate Presidency, I think he is too proper, decent and most of all generous to lower down his self-esteem and self-respect.

It is why, we, who know him personally, admire and respect him.

“It’s a truly sad day for this country to have one senator present in the Senate, on the basis of manufactured votes, while the one installed by 11 million plus real and actual votes is not allowed to at least attend sessions.” – Armida Siguion-Reyna

  54. xanadu xanadu

    Sampot

I also read with glee Armida’s column and it sure make my day. Let me quote the first two paragraps:

    Better to be rude

Antonio Trillanes IV won a seat in the Senate in a manner close to what horse race aficionados call a photo-finish. Winning without money and without personally campaigning is a feat that’s never been done by anyone in the country, so naturally it rankles the envious, the also-rans, the has-beens and the never will be.

Especially as every time the man opens his mouth, he makes for great copy, saying what greatly needs to be said and delivering it like no other. He is his own PR machine.

  55. DoJ opposing Trillanes bid to attend Senate sessions – PDI

“…The DoJ, as the prosecuting arm of the government, its shield and sword of law and order, represents not only the 11,138,067 voters who voted for him but the People of the Philippines with all its 85-million citizens and counting,” Fadullon said.

Somebody from DoJ finally clarified where it (DoJ) stands. It happens to be the prosecuting arm of government. Ergo, it should drop the J off from its official name. Since when has Justice been synonymous to Prosecution? Dapat pala DoP (Department of Prosecution). Fadullon can forget about the 85-million citizens. If this is how his department thinks he may just reduce the figure to 84,999,999. He does not represent my sentiments.

“…Prosecutors also took note on the case involving former Zamboanga Del Norte representative Romeo Jalosjos, in which the Court ruled that “Congress continues to function well in the physical absence of one or a few of its members.”

Seriously, I no longer find this comparison between Nonong Jalosjos and Senator Trillanes too trivial to be laughed off. Nonong Jalosjos was found to be a danger to unsuspecting little girls and he got convicted for it. Senator Trillanes may prove to be dangerous to ladies, too- but only of the 60ish, lying, cheating, stealing and powergrabbing type.

This government, in offering presidential pardon to Jalosjos reminded me of the Jewish mob who, two millennia ago, chose to free a criminal and cried for the blood of a sinless Man.

  56. Though, I may agree that, at times, Senator Trillanes delivers his message in a manner tinted with arrogance, he cannot be faulted for it. This hint of arrogance comes from the bitterness of being incarcerated long enough by the very people who deserve the prison more than he does. AS an added insult to his undeserved injury, he ends up being compared to a criminal like Jalosjos.

  57. skip skip

Abalos: “It was just a chance encounter. I went there to eat because I was not feeling well,” he said.

    ————————————————————

Abalos just told us a bald-faced lie. His statement goes against human nature and what normal people would do.

When was the last time you felt unwell and preferred to eat out instead of sipping soup in the comfort of your own bed?

Huwag mo kaming gaguhin, Abalos.

I have a T-shirt that says- “I used up all my sick calls. I am calling dead tomorrow.” Yon ang isuot niya.

If the people entrusted to safeguard the law, are the ones violating them (bedol et al) now who will the people trust”
I agree with you, we can’t even trust our lawyers, all of them, to safeguard us from the law.

In Lintang Bedol’s (a lawyer) provincial certificates of canvass (CoC), for instance, it was a 12-0 win in favor of the Team Unity, and with Chavit Singson landing as topnotcher, in itself, already highly suspect. and Bedol is a lawyer!

When recanvased by a special board which the Comelec formed, and all of them lawyers, suddenly it was Juan Miguel ‘Migz’ Zubiri who was topnotcher and getting all of close to 200,000 votes, with Genuine Opposition candidates getting a zero in those towns, as pointed out by Abalos himself, was a statistical improbability.

Task Force Maguindanao, with Nicodemo Ferrer in charge, another lawyer, went to Mindanao to fetch the documents, he claimed that the second copy of the municipal CoC, which was lost for more than 30 days, was authentic, not manufactured! How he came to this conclusion without first checking this out thoroughly has to be highly suspect.

The commissioners claimed the special board, all lawyers, would be given the authority to check these documents and hire handwriting experts and allow manifestations from lawyers.
No such thing was allowed. The recanvass went forward with election officers refusing to have opposition lawyers question anything.

When the municipal CoC were submitted to the Comelec, acting as the National Board of Canvassers, all of them lawyers, they railroaded the Maguindanao count, not allowing any objections from opposition lawyers, these lawyers also knew that Zubiri would fast track to the 12th place with the fraudulent Maguindanao votes.

Worse still Abalos, a lawyer ,adjourned the canvass with a few remaining votes, saying he was not feeling well, but was at the Shangri-La Hotel shortly after, at Shang Palace seen with the Zubiris, Abalos even greeted them! and after he had already ‘accidentally met Zubiri?s mother.

Abalos seen coming out of a private room where the Zubiris were then claims he went to Shang to have soup. All the way from Intramuros to Makati, just to have soup!

These are second rate corrupt lawyers and supposed to be looking after our interest by keeping elections free and honest.
Its about time that the honest professional lawyers, if there are any, To Get Their House In Order!

    Ka Enchong,
The Jalosjos – Trillanes parallel can never be drawn straight. Gasgas na, mali pa.

One used the tools of his trade as props to make a statement, the other used his tool, period!

Of course, the more popular one is that one is a convict, the other isn’t.

(BTW, the child prostitute, with her gay pimp/stepfather, used to live here in Zamora St., 3 houses away from mine, they moved later to Burgos and latest I heard, the girl is now in the States)

    Rose:
After meeting with folks of Dayana, I’d also like see him wearing a T-shirt with: “Sick my Duck!”

    Nagpe-Flames, ha? Yuck, baduy!

  61. Geez, this Trillanes is getting better every day! Good! About time someone had balls in the Senate.

  62. luzviminda luzviminda

    From abs-cbn TV Patrol:
“Tutol ang justice department sa mga kahilingan ni Sen. Antonio Trillanes sa korte para magampanan ang trabaho bilang senador.”

Antonio Trillanes is seeking all legal remedies to perform his job as Senator of the Republic. And if the government of Gloria will continously deny his requests then there is only one way left, and that is, to get him out of jail the illegal way by means of Revolution!

Handling an envelop will not take 10 seconds, diba DAYAna?

  64. Xanadu:

Rantings by the DOJ Secretary, et al, even sourgraping journalists, are simply what they are envy!!! Apparently, they cannot do a Trillanes!!! Inggit sila to the bones!

  65. TT,

“One used the tools of his trade as props to make a statement, the other used his tool, period!”

    Nice one.

Thanks for the info regarding Jalosjos’ victim. Taga Pasay din pala. I was already out here when that happened. BTW, yung unang comfort woman na lumantad, si Lola Rosa (Henson yata family name niya) was also from Pasay. Used to see her then sa Inocencio/ Zamora.

Now, the DoJ prosecutor is crying that Senator Trillanes has broken the conditions of his media access when he spoke against the government. Anong inaasahan nila? Is the good senator allowed to talk only if he sings hossanas to Aling Gloria? He was voted into office precisely to expose whatever is immoral. If he does not deliver, he would be betraying his mandate and the 11million+ voters’ will. I say, give ’em hell, Sonny!

  66. Mrivera Mrivera

  67. Ka Enchong, Sonny Trillanes is not arrogant. He delivers his message passionately and forcefully. He is firm in his conviction. There is no arrogance in him.

  68. Ms Tordesillas,

His message comes straight from the heart. That makes delivering it all the more passionate and all the more forceful. I am in full agreement with you there.

AS to the hint of arrogance I mentioned above, you are the better judge. Seeing him only on TV and in very rare occasions, medyo nagulat lang ako sa sinabing niyang “I do not want a cheater to join me in the Senate”. He would have come across, at least to me, better if he used the plural form of “I” and “me”. I actually expected him to include “us” in this struggle to keep the perceived cheaters out of the halls of government. Medyo nadisappoint lang ako. Then again, it’s just me.

  69. Ellen,

Frankly, I believe that if there was ever any arrogance behind the words of Trillanes, it was directed against the arrogant sons of bitches in Malacanang and their beauticians there so that’s fine as far as I’m concerned.

Enough of the low key approach! There’s nothing that can be achieved by playing coy. Sen Trillanes is absolutely right to get in there blasting those bastards in Malacanang (and their beauty parlor maid/s) even with well-oiled arrogance.

Time to do away with fake niceties – the Senate and their members are not gonna get anywhere playing the Maria Clara image in the face of a wanton harlot politician like Gloria and her bunch of scalawags.

  70. In other words, Trillanes has no option but to make tirada with arrogance dahil hindi naman matitino ang nasa kabila. Sometimes, it’s important to give those loonies in Malacanang (and their favourite beauty parlor maid) a big jolt para matauhan!

  71. Mrivera Mrivera

Ang sa akin lang, we need to win as many converts to his cause as possible. I’ve been frequenting other internet fora, and in some, he does not have as many supporters as he has here. Suffice it to say that I defend him whenever I can.

My insignificant reaction may have been borne out of a strong personal identification with his cause. Never once had anybody represented my personal political beliefs as much as Senator Trillanes does now, hence, my unwarranted, imaginary sense of ownership towards his cause. I felt like a significant stakeholder in his struggle only to wake up merely standing on the sidelines. Anyways, sidelines or elsewhere, tuloy ang laban…

  74. Anna,

Senator Trillanes’ “arrogance” towards Aling Gloria’s cabals is really well deserved. I am in full agreement with you there. I also agree with dropping the niceties aside when he addresses them. Ang sa akin lang, he speaks to two galleries everytime he stands up – I expect him to give hell to our common foes without discounting us. We do not want a cheat to join him in the Senate, either. Pero, oks lang yun. That will not diminish my support for the good senator, so long as he continues to espouse a belief similar to mine/ours.

  75. Right you are Ka Enchong on the “We” and “us” in a phrase – would do Trillanes a great deal of mileage to use those first person pronouns in the plural form instead of just the first person. Totally agree with you there!
