Hugas kamay ang US embassy dito.

  1. You bet, Ellen, puro kaplastikan lang. Mas gusto kong imbestigahan nila at hulihin iyong mga kurakot na nagkapera sa fake negotiation daw nila kuno doon sa mga rebels who won’t talk to any of the US puppets in the Philippines according to a contact in Basrah, Iraq.

Sana ma-kidnap iyan doon, and will see how the kurakots would try to make money out of the deal as usual para hindi siya mapugutan ng ulo kuno. Gandang istorya iyan kapag nagkataon.

    Kawawang bansa!

Pambihira talaga ang kulturang ipinaiiral sa mga pilipino ngayon—gutom as a scapegoat for the No. 1 industry ni Pandak, and that is human trafficking even to dangerous zones like Iraq and other troubled spots i the Middle East and Africa, etc.

    Nakakai-Yuck! Patalsikin na, Now na!

If you guys remember, that anomaly in Lebanon (Philippine Consulate) at the height of the Lebanon crisis has not been fully investigated. What ever happened to that. Poor OFWs in Lebanon have not yet been compensated and their problems solved by this evil administration. Now, they`re bragging about looking into the welfare of the OFWs in Iraq!

Ano???

Sen. Jingoy Estrada chairs the labor and employment committee. There’s no closure in his inquiry regarding alleged misuse of Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) trust funds at the height of Filipino evacuation in Lebanon. Money is then running out for the beleaguered OFWs with no fresh funds coming in from Malacanang. Ambassador Roy Cimatu may have benefited from chartered airlines contract at the rate of $1,200 per passenger.

  7. Emilio:

Egcel ba ang first name? Yuck!

    Bobo talaga.

When the 2010 presidential election (if it happens) approaches, watch out for Noli de Castro who would start making noise. If there are no stronger candidates in the administration, his chance of being nominated by Gloria Arroyo is great. Can anyone tell me what Noli has accomplished all these years as Vice President please?

The other day, I saw a news flash on the Filipino women coming home from Kuwait with their undocumented children. Pareho din ng mga problema ng mga problema ng mga pilipina sa Japan who have the wrong impression that if they get impregnated and bear children of nationals of their host countries, permanent resident na sila.

Lalapitan nila at kakausapin. Iyon pala ay set-up lamang.

Cimatu His mission, according to foreign affairs officials, is to verify reports that 51 Filipinos were forcibly smuggled into Iraq to work in the construction of the US Embassy in Baghdad, find them, and bring them back to the Philippines.

Kahit dito rin sa America there are Filipino women who are selling their flesh to have food for their flesh. All because of the green card. Kahit diyan sa Philippines maraming bata na naglalako ng katawan nila para may makain sila…ang babata na dapat sana ay na sa paaralan at mag aral- they become instead streetwise kids..Noong umuwi ako last year nagpunta ako sa office ng Third World Movement Against the Exploitation of Women at mayroon silang tinutulungan na bata na nakita nila sa Cubao at “prostitute na” 13 years old…sinabi ko sa Madre na founder nitong movement..Gosh ang bata bata. Ang sagot..may mas bata pa dian. Ang lungkot.

  15. rose rose

Gokusen: “forcibly smuggled to work ..” ito ba ay officially utos ng US gov’t?
kita ng butas at malaki ang bayad..dapat they should control and be strict on their policies about recruiting agencies particularly on recruitment for workers.
Goji: if you read Ellen’s regular columns in Malaya and Abante nandoon ang email address niya.

Rose, there are in fact so called mercenary groups or soldiers. Private companies that hire civilians to fight in other countries like Iraq. Guess where these companies are based? In the US. Are they really private companies or funded by the US government? That, I don’t know. So, let’s not be surprised if there are Filipinos working as civilian fighters in Iraq. I’m sure many of them are ex or active soldiers and policemen who agree to engage in such dangerous work for economic reasons.

that’s the word used by malacanang so to speak, and the 51 filipino workers were escorted by a u.s. citizen to go to iraq since filipinos are not allowed to work in iraq, right?

    goji,

Thanks Ellen. I have nothing to write you about. But for sure this December when I greet you Merry Christmas.

Gokusen, there’s one called Dog in the US who’s a popular bounty hunter. These guys make good money. Are there bounty hunters in the Philippines? Is it legal and allowed? If there is none, then maybe a lawmaker can sponsor a bill creating one. If we have bounty hunters, criminals like Garci and the others can be hunted and put to jail. Isn’t that a good idea?

  24. Emilio:

Hindi ko pa ito na-check sa mga authority dito, and I am preparing my report that I plan to submit to the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs at saka sa pulis at kaibigan ko sa Diet.

Foreigners being killed in the Philippines has indeed reached a very alarming rate. They’re not only Japanese, but also Koreans nowadays. They usually died of mysterious circumstances. Many were reported to have jumped from tall buildings and called suicide. But they could have been forcibly thrown down from the buildings.

  26. gokusen gokusen

    goji,

there are bounty hunters here , they are the hoodlums in the military as well as politicians, it is illegal to others but for them it is legal since they are the one gaining out of it.
there is such a situation cases filed against abu sayyaf and every busted abu there is a reward … so you know what happened in our place, wag mong titignan ng masama ang mga military, pulis, tao ng mga politician at kukunin ka para sabihin abu sayyaf ka…andun sa mga karsel ang mga walang kasalanan pinagkakitaan dahil daw sa abu sayyaf…at hanggang ngayon ganyan pa rin ang ginagawa…

  27. goji goji

Goji, Gpkusen: Thanks for the clarification. I have heard of the mercenary soldiers. Kung ako man ang isang marino or sundalo dian sa Phil. kung ganoon lang naman ang trato sa akin ng gobierno..maliit ang sueldo at ikaw ang ipain sa labanan.. at ang officer naman ay nagpapalaki lang ng kanilang baya..mag mercenary soldier nalang ako at malaki ang bayad..and the ban on the Filipinos to work in Iraq ay utos ni Gloria, hindi ba? Way back in the late 70’s I went on a tour of Europe and in London sa hotel, nagulat ako na marami ang Filipinos na nagtratabaho..may Ilongga akong nakausap..nurse siya kaya lang at that time mahigpit ang pagpasok sa US kaya they went via Europe. Sa Rome ganoon din..and my
friend who founded the TWMAE told me stories of how young girls from the barrios are recruited as entertainers and sent to Europe and ended as protistutes..and they ended this way kasi walang trabaho silang makukuha sa atin. They are taken advantage by the pimps at halos wala nang matira sa kanila kaya kayod ng kayod..Malungkot..Dog eats dog.

“Before he left the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) last July 31, Sec. Reyes signed a ‘midnight’ deal for the full payment of US$1.3 million to a Guam-based company engaged in a failed air pollution monitoring project. This is another case of corruption involving a high profile government official,” ayon kay Casiño.

Noong Biyernes ay ibinunyag ng Environmental watchdog Kalikasan-People’s Network for the Environment na nilagdaan ni Reyes ang Letter of Undertaking (LOU) para sa DENR Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) para bayaran ang Emissions Technology, Inc. (ETI) ng US$1.314,776.46 para sa Ambient Air Monitoring Network component ng US$6.2 million Air Monitoring Project.

Claudio latest on list of ailing Cabinet execs

    By Juliet Labog-Javellana
    Inquirer
Last updated 02:22am (Mla time) 08/07/2007

MANILA, Philippines — Add Presidential Political Adviser Gabriel Claudio to the list of Cabinet officials who have fallen ill while working under a seemingly indefatigable President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Claudio, 52, went on a one-month medical leave Monday to undergo surgery. Claudio said he has congenital scoliosis, for which he already had surgery in the 1970s.

News that Claudio had taken a medical leave coincided with a report that 76-year-old Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez was about to be discharged from an undisclosed hospital where he had been treated for bleeding ulcers.

    http://www.newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/nation/view_article.php?article_id=80991

    o, sino pupusta?

  70. rose rose

Mrivera:I have read a news item that she said nagkasakit ang mga gabinete niya ay dahil sa sobrang trabaho” napatawa ako-kasi sa akin kaya sila ng kakasakit ay dahil sa pagisip kong paano masunod ang mga utos niya. God gave us 10 commandments..The Jewish Torah contains 613 laws and rules. ang kanyang “law-ko” ay mas higit. At ang mga gabinete na pinatalsik niya gaya ni Bunag at Popo Lotilla are God fearing men at may consensya kaya nahirapan siyang mag-pasunod kaya ang sabi niya “alis diyan. get out of my way.”
Goji: thanks for making me young. Retired na ako kaya I have all the time to blog. Besides dito lang ako makalaro ng sipa at kick ball with such a small puck pero challenge ang pasipa siya..and soon it will be done.

  71. Rose:

Thanks for reminding me of my youth. I used to sing those songs that you post here, too. They remind me of my growing up years in the Philippines. I was a baby boomer, too, you know. OK naman than growing up in the Philippines now where everyone is being brainwashed to think that it is good to be super maid-techs (a word coined by Emilio_OFW) or prosties overseas!

I was born after the US granted independence to the Philippines and my father pledged his allegiance to the US flag, so I don’t know any foreign master, and my father made sure that none of his children remembered having been under foreign rule.

Boy, was I dumbfounded when a little girl I asked when I visited the Philippines what she wanted to be, and she looked at my fair and smooth skin, etc., and said, “I want to be a ‘Japayuki,’ too!” Shocking! It’s because I knew exactly what “Japayuki” meant and it was/is “prostitute.”

Tapos itong si Gloria Bugaw still insist on sending them here. Mabuti na lang, our officials at the Immigration Bureau of the Ministry of Justice are getting wiser to think of stricter measures to prevent the influx of pseudo caregivers and super maid-techs because she cannot create any other more worthwhile industries than human trafficking!

Ooops, out of topic na for this loop! Sorry, Ellen, but can’t be helped!

  72. goji goji

If I’m not mistaken, many of the bloggers here are middle-aged. I was able to guess Rose’s age not because of the fortune telling cards, but she gave the clue away. She mentioned that she toured Europe in the 70s. Assuming she was in her 20s then, she must be in her 50s now. Ystakei said she was born after the US granted independence to RP. Well, to say that she’s in her 60s would be a good guess. Congratulation Grandma ! This blog represents all walks of life. Young and old, rich and poor, educated or not so educated…we’re all here in one mind and spirit to remove this evil woman in Malacanang.

  73. cocoy cocoy

Aliping Filipino;–Do we need more further interpretation on this bondage? Many Filipinos continue to feel no alternative to misery in the Philippines except to find work abroad. In spite of repeated humiliation, hunger, brutal treatment, rape, seem incapable of learning the lesson of ignorance, refusal, or sheer bullheadedness. When they are arrested for having entered Iraq without a passport and visa, our government don’t provide them assistance in legal representation and they go to jail. Prisons and detention centers, the conditions prisoners endure are so harsh that they amount to cruel, inhuman or degrading punishment. They allows no independent organizations to visit prisons and detention centers. Their slammer is overcrowding, lack of hygiene, ill-treatment and lack of human consideration for prisoners.Torture is most frequently practice, for those in prisoners who fear they face execution, the psychological torment is extreme. Nothing Roy Cimatu can do about that.

  74. cocoy cocoy

Goji and rose; When I was a child, I remember spending a lot of time in the world of make believe, especially when it comes for me to see my barber. While waiting for my turn on the barber chair, I’ve heard those fathers many dreams for their children, as their hair was being shaped to a flat top Ross Perot cut. Listening was the first step to able recede myself in those innocent years.

There was a moment, I was listening to a conversation of two friends whose both spouses were pregnant that time discussing the gender of the unborn fetus, Mang Berto wanted his baby to be a boy. His reason was if his boy grown-up to be a man, he will joined the U.S.Navy after high school graduation at Subic Naval Base in Olongapo so that he can taste the “Spam”, his second option to his son is to become a policeman, in Manila, that time a cop in the City are big earners just blowing their whistle. Or if his son wander in different path ,he said his son will just join the rebel and earn money on extortion and intimidation. On the other chair, Mang Fidelo has too much baldness on his head even the fly will having difficulty balancing it’s glide slope landing, want her baby to be a girl. He said once her little darling start menstruation, she wanted her to get a PRO job along Magsaysay Drive,So that she can find G.I. american husband to go to america and then he can also have “Spam” and stateside “Tang”.

After so many years, I went back to that same barber shop, the son who was my H.S. classmate inherited the business from his deceased father. The conversation was bit different. Every patrons whose having a hair cut only wanted a baby girl. I asked Oscar the barber, Why they want girl? He said–The younger the more better and expensive along suburbs tourist belt, and when they gained experience next step is “Japayuki”

    Goji,
Re-Let’s hope Gokusen is not a member of MNLF. MILF or Abu Sayyaf spying on us here. I have sent my own intelligence operative to check his background. You guys would be informed of my investigation

you don’t need to send any intelligence operative to check my background if i’m an mnlf, milf or abu , you can get my email add to ms. ellen and you can email me to ask me directly, it doesnt need to be a member of mnlf, milf, or abu to experience those things, remember “in between” the conflicts of mnlf, milf and the operatives, and hunting of those abu are “we” civilians who see all what’s happening on our surroundings..we the civilians the victims of those chaotic place….
mnlf, milf, abu will not waste time blogging here leave their guns away from themselves in spying. what could they get out of this..all they want is to fight for what they believe is right..and expressing that for them is through guns and mortars…and their families are the one sacrificing most for their “beliefs” which sometimes outcasted by the society and discriminated by other..

so i will keep my stand here why i joined this blog is to let others have an idea on what’s happening in our place and let them analyze the situation…so hope you understand me..and give me spot blogging here what’s on our side..the people living in war…thanks

  76. goji goji

Hey gokusen, you know that was only a joke. Why would I send an operative to check you? Maybe all my posts were too serious that when I crack a joke once in a while you think it’s real. Please don’t be sensitive, gokusen. Of course you’re not a spy. If ever you become a spy, you would be this blog’s spy in Mindanao so that you could feed us with information. Cool ?

  85. rose rose

Goji: nabasa ko rin yong penalty ni Bedol..pero ang pagkaintindi ko he was not tried for his role in the Maquindanao election fraud.. thus this penalty is just for an administrative case. Sa tingin ko kasi malaking pera ang ibinayad sa kanya sa pagdaya…magkano kaya ang galing kay “me gal so very” magkano naman sa pang gulo..kung 6 months in jail..ok hindi ba? At seguro maraming pa siyang privileges while in jail..bale wala ang six months sa ibinayad sa kanya…ang sarap ng buhay niya ano?

  86. rose rose

Gokusen & Cocoy: areglado! But seriously speaking, I learned a lot from both of you. Keep on blogging…

  93. kevrhimar kevrhimar

Sorry but this will be out of topic. Just wondering why it seems nobody is raising the issue that, inpite of the apreciation of peso againts dollar which is almost 20%, the price of prime commodities is still the same in not going up. What’s the effect of the peso appreciation then? It’s seems that they’re just manipulating it so that those who contributed in there campaign kitty can get back their contribution at the expense of the OFW who now serves as the milkong Cow of this administration. There’s a lot of blah blah blah at the senate ang among us bloggers but I never read this topic, i’ sorry to say.

  94. gokusen gokusen

    Tita Rose,

Mother Seeks Help in Locating Missing Daughter
    Arab News

JEDDAH, 8 August 2007— Whoever knows where Christia A. Solomon is, please speak up.

This request comes from her mother and friends desperate to know whatever happened to the woman, a mother of two, who came to Riyadh in May 2002 to work as a baby sitter.

In an e-mail forwarded to the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh and to media, Susan A. Arastam, an employee of the Royal Commission Hospital in Jubail, said she used to get in touch with her daughter in Riyadh “from time to time” by cell phone until the night of Feb. 3, 2005.

Worried because Solomon’s cell phone was no longer in service, she called her daughter’s employer and was told that she woman left for the Philippines on Feb. 7, or four days after their last phone conversation.

Surprised that her daughter did not tell her she was leaving, she called up her daughter’s husband and her son in Jolo in the southern Philippines and also learned that she was not there.

Whoever has information may contact Arastan at +966-5029-33729.

  104. goji goji

While our OFWs are victims abroad and continue to suffer, foreign tourists in the Philippines are enjoying their stay to the maximum. Below is a portion of the news I quoted:

CEBU CITY, Philippines — The four Japanese tourists detained for filming a sex video on Sulpa Islet off Olango Island, Lapu-Lapu City, availed of “voluntary deportation” on Wednesday, one week after their arrest.

The four Japanese left Cebu together with 10 other Japanese nationals who were part of their tour group that arrived in Cebu on July 27, Bureau of Immigration (BI) 7 regional director Geronimo Rosas confirmed on Wednesday.

Rosas said the group left Mactan Cebu International Airport for Narita, Japan on board a 7:55 a.m. flight.

The bureau has blacklisted the four — Miyawaki Yuki, 26 (female); Yokomizo Masashi, 36; Izuno Hiwaki, 24 and Takimoto Yuichiro, 40 — because of “indecent acts” in Cebu.

  105. Thanks for the above article, Goji. I will pass it on to my friends at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department and ask them to investigate, because we have strict laws on immorality and indecent sexual acts in Japan, too. Faster action if I can have the detail of their expected departure from the Philippines and arrival in Japan. Madali naman silang ipahiya sa totoo lang, and proper action taken especially with our new law that can now prosecute Japanese even in Japan for illegal actions done overseas and they do not get penalized properly because of the incompetence and inefficiency of justice system there.

The Philippine Immigration would be doing a great service if they will notify and send a report the above matter to the Japanese Embassy in Manila where one of the ranking officers there always come from the National Police Agency of Japan.

  106. goji goji

Thanks ystakei. Quite frankly, when I posted that news item you were not in my mind just because you’re in Japan. They being Japanese was only incidental because there are much more criminal aliens in the Philippines who are of other nationalities among whom are the Chinese. I think those caught with that sex video could be from a criminal syndicate producing porno films. I’m not sure if the names listed are their real names. They must have arrived in Japan by this time. But with your connection, yes maybe you could do something about it. These kind of people not only pry on our helpless victims in the Philippines but give shame to Japan.

  107. On the contrary, Goji, this kind of information, we actually do not take for granted in Japan. That is why we now have a law that can prosecute in Japanese courts and penalize Japanese who have committed crimes overseas and escape punishment because the system overseas is corrupt. Still, I will pass on the information to my friends at the police in Tokyo and the National Police Agnecy for investigation. A ranking official there comes from the police as a matter of fact.

Iyan ang dapat na tulungan if we want our world to be a better place to live in. Hindi iyong one sided relationship with the Philippines being always the beneficiary of economic progress in other countries, pero wala namang pakinabang dahil sa kurakot.

  108. goji goji

Considering the short distance between the Philippines (Cebu) and Japan (Narita), the group have already arrived in a few hours. I don’t know how the Japanese Embassy handles their citizens who are arrested in a foreign land for criminal offense. But as far as I know, protocol and diplomatic rule dictate that the embassy is informed of the case. The embassy then can send its representative to assist especially if the suspects are in jail. This kind of policy applies to all countries with diplomatic relation meaning with embassies. Therefore, the Japanese Embassy has the list of the names; and at the very least, they would have learned it in the news. I’m sure there’s Embassy staff monitoring such matters.

I shortened that news item. The rest of the story was that the Filipino Judge slapped the lightest penalty on these suspects (no longer suspects because they were caught in the act). They were only fined a few hundred pesos and then voluntarily departed. What transpired before and during the prosecution stage and between the judge and the suspects is something worth being looked into. The Judge gave the most minimum penalty in exchange of……

Crossfire War – Lebanon Election Fortifies Political Divisions

    By Willard Payne

Crossfire War – BEIRUT – DAMASCUS – TEHRAN WATCH – West Asia Theatre: Beirut – Damascus – Riyadh – Tehran – Metn/East Beirut – Paris – Rome – Washington; Political-Militia Divisions Re-Affirmed by Lebanon Election – Dissolution of State Continues

Night Watch: METN – Divided loyalties were again revealed in Lebanon during and after the election within the Maronite Catholic community Sunday. What is extremely significant they were the dominant political power in the country ever since its creation by the French in 1920 and were used by industrial groups in Paris to begin the fifteen year civil war (1975-90) as a way of maintaining regional instability, the divide and conquest strategy of major powers to weaken areas targeted for manipulation. However, in the course of the fifteen-year war another power element entered, Tehran through Hezbollah in the early 1980s as an extension of the Islamic revolution in Iran (1979) led by the Ayatollah Khomeini. So while the war weakened the Maronite Catholic community, and political disputes and wars since then, it strengthened not only Hezbollah, but other political forces across the religious – secular spectrum, whose position became more nationalistic and no longer saw close political relations with France and the West as a benefit. Paris keeps insisting Lebanon owes them an enormous amount of debt due to the civil war and the French have played a major role in leading European units into south Lebanon through the United Nations military presence UNIFIL. The European presence is designed to support the current embattled Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, who is still surrounded by street demonstrations and under a very real direct military threat in the north, the Islamic suicide unit Fatah al-Islam trained and armed by Damascus-Tehran. It is no secret that action, which began the war in Lebanon this year May 20, is intended to prepare Lebanon for Syria’s re-entry into the country as fighting spreads south to UNIFIL and Israel’s border.

What was also so alarming to France and the West, as they discussed regime change in Syria and eventually Iran, major political leaders close to Paris have been routinely assassinated by agents of Tehran for at least the past three years the most important being former Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri (Feb. 15, 2005) and Pierre Gemayel last November. In addition, it was his father Amin Gemayel who just lost, by only 418 votes, yesterday’s election to another Maronite Catholic Kamil Khoury. Khoury was supported by one of the main Christian nationalist’s leaders supporting the demonstration against Siniora and the West, former general Michel Aoun, who will run for President next month, a position reserved for the Christian community. The English language paper Daily Star reported, as a sad commentary that during the contentious campaign there was no real discussions on policy issues and did nothing to achieve reconciliation between Lebanon’s diverse-hostile-warring political divisions. It had been mentioned by observers, ever since demonstrations began in December, Lebanese politics had descended to the base level of personality disputes and name-calling. Old hatreds, feuds and the “settling of scores” are the issues now. In the meantime, Tehran, either quietly or violently, increases its influence all over Lebanese society, a mirror of what Iran has been doing in Iraq.

  110. Goji,

What you say is true only when the system is not corrupted and bureaucrats follow the rules, but not apparently in the Philippines. Before the embassy is even informed of the case, kamag-anak pa ng mga hapon ang nagsasabi sa kanila to help the Japanese in distress. Tapos pahirapan pa ng paghanap sa nakasuhan with very limited and often wrong information as in the case of the above case with wrong names and IDs.

Parang naghanap ng karayom sa haystack! Ngitngit!

  112. Ellen,

I posted your articles on the stranded Filipino workers in Iraq in our UPAA in Japan egroup, and here’s a comment I got from on of our members:

Re: Filipinos in Iraq need help

Kumaltas ba ng atip ang peh-oh-eh-ey (as in POEA/OWWA) dyan sa mga Pinoy
workers na na-Shanghai to Iraq?
anu-anong orientation fee, membership fee at departure fee kuno.

In that case, this is POEA’s problem as well. This agency must be made to
realize that if they insist on forcibly collecting these fees, then they
have a responsibility for the welfare of their “members”. It is extremely
immoral for them to be getting money, then claim later on that they do not
have the resources to take action.

  114. Valdemar Valdemar

I think we should not worry much having our brave sons in Iraq. They send in more dollars. Looking at statistics, there are more japayukis killed in Japan than OFWs in Iraq. There are more killed in other places. The bodybags allowed in the military is 15% which the generals are trying to fill up. We have dismembered bodies splattered all around us here every other day at home as if we can do something about it. Alipin in Iraq is sweeter than the practically all aliping workers here. They live in squalor here. Just watch them in every police sona, those quarters. Watch them under those fallen walls. under bridges. Under the rampaging trucks. Even our embassy brothels in the middle east…

  115. goji goji

Valdemar, I beg to disagree with your statement that there are more Japayukis being killed in Japan. Are you advocating more OFWs or Japayukis in Japan? I don’t think the Japanese government tolerates undesirable aliens in their country. It’s not a credible comparison between those in Iraq and Japan. One is a war torn country and the other lives in peace.
