Nang inikuwento ni Fr. Ed Panlilio, Pampanga governor, ang tungkol sa white lady sa Malacanang na nagbigay ng kalahating milyon pera na nakalagay sa paper bag, naisip ko ang maraming kwento tungkol sa white lady diyan sa palasyo.
Flashback muna tayo sa kuwento ni Fr. Ed. Sabi niya ang umabot sa kanya ng paper bag na may P500,000 ay ang kanyang assistant. Sabi naman ng kanyang assistant, yun ay galing kay Bulacan Governor Jon-jon Mendoza. Sabi naman ni Mendoza ay galing yun sa isang babaeng nakasuot ng puti. Lady in white sa English. Sa ating carabao English naging white lady. Parang gamot ng Intsik na white flower.
Nang nagku-cover ako sa Malacanang marami akong kwento naririnig tungkol sa lumalabas na babaeng nakaputi kapag hatinggabi. Minsan ang pinakitaan ay si Assistant press secretary Mallari (nakalimutan ko ang first name).
Masyado kasing masipag si Pangulong Ramos, inurder niya na 24-hours ang srbisyo sa media office apra kung may tatawag kahit anong oras, may sasagot. Kaya palaging may nakaduty na isang senior na opisyal.
Ang opisina ng press secretary noon ay sa Kalayaan building, ang maganda at lumang gusali sa tabi palasyo ng Malacanang. Kuwento ni Mallari, hatinggabi noon, lumabas siya para umihi at nakita niyang nakatayo sa hagdanan ang isang magandang babaeng nakaputi ang damit. Tapos, bigla lang nawala.
Marami pang kwento ang ibang nagtatrabaho sa Malacanang household at ang mga security guards sa mga lumalabas na bisita sa mga kwarto. Tapos, bigla na lang nawawala.Ngunit ang isang janitor na dyan na halos natutulog, wala raw nakikita. Sabi niya, kinusap raw niya na huwag siyang takutin.
Ang Malacanang ay ipinatayo noong panahon ng kastila. Naging saksi ito ng maraming malagim na bahagi ng ating kasaysayan. Kaya siguro ang mga kaluluwang nagpapakita paminsan-minsan at may mensahe na gustong ibahagi.
Si Gloria Arroyo ay nakatira mismo sa palasyo, hindi katulad ni Cory Aquino, Fidel Ramos at Joseph Estrada na tumira sa ibang building at ginawang opisina ang palasyo. Ngunit wala tayong narinig na kuwento na may nakita siyang white lady o ibang anyo ng multo doon. Baka takot ang multo sa kanya.
Ngunit ang kinatatakutan ni Arroyo ay ang multo ng “Hello Garci” o ang kanyang pandaraya noong 2004 na eleksyon. Ilang beses na nyang sinubukan patayin ngunit balik ng balik. Yan ang nagmu-multo sa kanya.
Sa narinig natin doon sa “Hello Garci” tape ginamit niya ang Commission on Election at ang military, dalawang institusyon na dapat mangalaga sa malinis at mapayapang eleksyon para mandaya. Sinira niya itong mga institutsyon na haligi ng demokrasya.
Dahil alam ng mga opisyal ang kasalanan ni Arroyo, kailangan niya palaging busugin. Ganyan ang nangyayari sa military. Ang mga matino at magagaling na opisyal at nakakakulong. Ang mga sipsip ang napu-promote.
Siyempre, mahal ang bayad kay Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos. Kaya nangyari ang P16 bilyon na anomalya ng NBN/ZTE deal. para mapagtakpan yun, kailangan gumawa ng pekeng impeachment complaint para haranging ang totoong impeachment complaint. Kailangan bayaran ang mga congressman.
Para may suporta sa ibaba sa kung ano-anong pagtatakip na gagawin pa nila katulad ng Charter Change, kailangan busugin ang mga lokal na opisyal. Siyempre pera ng bayan lahat yun. Kaya namigay ng pera ang white lady.
Buhay na buhay ang multo ng “Hello Garci.”

itself. Historical it may be, but there is nothing
good NADA about it except deprivation and victimization

Broadly speaking, there are three ways to get the Nobel Peace Prize
1. Be a famous humanitarian. This is the obvious approach. It is also the hardest. The Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to Albert Schweitzer, who built hospitals in Africa; to Norman Borlaug, who developed high-yield strains of wheat; to Muhammed Yunus, who devised a new method of giving loans to low-income entrepreneurs
2. Start an international organization. Or, if you can swing it, be an international organization. Over the years, the Nobel Peace Prize has gone to Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders, the UN’s International Labor Organization, and the Red Cross. Gore himself will share his prize with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
3. Kill a lot of people, then stop. In 1973, the Nobel Peace Prize was shared by Henry Kissinger and Le Duc Tho. Kissinger’s CV included the “secret” bombing of Cambodia and the “Christmas” bombing of North Vietnam; just a month before his prize was announced, he was complicit in the coup that installed a brutal dictatorship in Chile. So why did he win? Because he and Tho had reached a truce to end the Vietnam War.
It is in this context, that former General Jovito Palparan Jr. is respectfully proposed as another nominee for the Nobel Peace prize for 2008 from the Philippines(in addition to President Gloria Arroyo, former President Joseph Estrada and Secretary Ronaldo Puno).
Here is a brief profile of the 4th Nobel Peace Prize nominee from the Philippines:
Achievements:
1)The International Peasant Solidarity Mission found that there are “clear indications of military involvement” in the cases of human rights violations in Central Luzon and Southern Tagalog. The group’s report noted that the military seems to have become more brazen (in committing the human rights violations) under the command of MGen. Jovito Palparan, Jr.
2)In his brief stint as 8th Infantry Division commander, Gen. Palparan was credited for reducing the insurgency problem in Samar by 80 percent. Palparan however said he could have terminated insurgency in the province had he been given a two-month extension to implement his “clearing operation”.
3)President Arroyo promoted Palparan twice: from colonel to brigadier general (2003); and from brigadier general to major general after serving as commander of the Philippine contingent in Iraq (2004). His promotion to major general came within months of his previous promotion.
4)In her 2006 State of the Nation Address, President Arroyo acknowledged Palparan for his offensives against rebel terrorists. In the same breath she also said that she condemns political killings.
