Signature campaign for snap elections

Are you sick and tired of the lies and corruption of Gloria Arroyo?

Then log on to http://www.petitiononline.com/snap08 and sign the petition for the immediate resignation of Gloria Arroyo and Noli de Castro and for the holding of a snap election within 60 days.

Next week, Sen. Antonio Trillanes, who is leading the petition, will formally launch the call for snap election. Through his representatives, of course, because he is still confined in Fort Bonifacio and is not allowed by the Arroyo administration to serve the people who voted him to the Senate.

A snap election is the only peaceful and constitutional way to end the nation’s agony caused by Arroyo’s illegal presidency.

Ellen, what will happen to the snap elections again when the tiyanak just appointed a “garci” and “bedol” like “comisyoner”? This evil woman simply has corrupted all our institutions! She just appoints and does whatever she wants without any input from the people, only from those who helped her steal the presidency. Pathetic talaga ang lagay ng bansa natin! There is not a darn thing any of the 88 million Filipinos can do! The opposition should have a strong leader! Ellen, hindi yung maraming kasalanan din na katulad ni tiyanak whose “baho” when uncovered can be the cause for him to be silenced! Magagaling ang mga alipores ni tiyanak sa “research” and they know when to push the “buttons” to shut up the enemy. She has to be beaten on her game. If there is no single rallying force, then there should be a core group who are cohesive enough to spearhead her ouster!

  2. parasabayan parasabayan

I am afraid that the impeachment efforts by the opposition will again be a collection venue for the “tongressmen” and “senatongs” to raise Christmas money for themselves! Nakakasuka na talaga! The voters should know who are the perennial tong collectors and should be exposed to the public so when they run for office again, the people will not vote for them! There should be a way to stop this madness!

  3. blackdiamond blackdiamond

If only this little lady has a sense of shame, she should now submit herself to a snap polls. She should start to re-think because a lot of people and NGOs and Civil groups are asking for her resignation.

First and foremost to have credible elctions, the Comelec needs a complete overhaul!!! Yan ang tanong, paano mangyayari yan?

  6. martina martina

Remember serial offender she is, and will always be. Wala sa vocabulary niya ang shame and scandal.

  7. If we think that Comelec needs a complete overhaul with credible appointees then is to have a “snap election” before these Comelec changes are made really boil down to “puuting the cart before the horse”.
It’s time to have a proper worthy opposition leader in place who is capabl;e of leading a team planning actions and carry these actions out step by step successfully.

  8. Planning an opposition is what successful countries do, why is it beyond us to think of our country before ourselves.

  9. Find a worthy opposition leader, let him choose his team, support them and the rest will follow.

or the alternative a la Storming of the Bastille

The time was half past three, on the famous date of July 14, 1789. A huge, bloodthirsty mob marched to the Bastille, searching for gun powder and prisoners that had been taken by the unpopular and detested King, Louis XVI. Even elements of the newly formed National Guard were present at the assault. The flying rumors of attacks from the government and the biting truth of starvation were just too much for the angry crowds. The Bastille had been prepared for over a week, anticipating about a hundred angry subjects and along the thick rock walls of the gargantuan fortress and between the towers were twelve more guns that were capable of launching 24-ounce case shots at any who dared to attack. However, the enraged Paris Commune was too defiant and too livid to submit to the starvation and seeming injustice of their government. But nothing could have prepared the defenders for what they met that now famous day.

The vicious crowds shouted for him to lower the bridges. De Launay sent a note to a mob leader named Hulin, claiming that he had 20,000 pounds of gunpowder and if the besiegers did not accept his offer, he would annihilate the entire fortress, the garrison, and everyone in it! Yet, they still refused. The bridges were finally lowered on de Launay’s command, and he and his soldiers were captured by the crowds and dragged through the filthy streets of Paris.

The mob paraded through the streets, showing off their captives, and crudely cutting off many heads. The National Guard tried to stop the crowds from looting, but it was useless. They continued marching on, maKing their way to the Hotel de Ville. Upon learning that the Bastille had been taken, King Louis XVI, who was residing at Versailles, was reported to have asked an informer: “Is this a revolt?” and La Rochefoucauld-Liancourt said, “No, Sire, it is a revolution.” Little did Louis know that the mob’s next plan was to march to Versailles, and take him away with them as well.

It’s useless us fighting by the rules when they don’w abide by them. Let’s fight fire with fire; that’s the only way we can beat this malacanang bandits…

WWNL, thanks for concurring with me that we need a strong opposition to forge a movement against this tiyanak, a rallying point.
Newphilippines, do we really have the guts like the French? Maybe the tiyanak is more cunning and calculating than King Louis XVI. She has already sold her soul to the devil to hold on to her position! Garapal talaga at walang kadelikadesa. May pinagaralan kuno, wala namang breeding.

The question is are you sick and tired of the lies and corruption of GMA? And the answer is yes. And like what I wrote in previous thread, call ako sa naayon sa batas na paraan, just to remove her.

I already signed the petition. Marami pang debate ang mangyayari dyan but let’s sign the petition first if we agree on the exercise.

In a weird sort of way, I am glad that Erap and Gloria have struck their Mephistophelian bargain. Now, my friends who view those who oppose Gloria as automatic Erap supporters are
    all eating their shoes.

  15. parasabayan Says to Newphilippines: “do we really have the guts like the French?”
I think your comment is a direct hit, you need to have guts like the French or to be Brave like the citizens of Burma to put a stop to this evil woman and regain Truth & Justice. But we look for a way where we don’t have to put ourselves out too much, certainly not Brave enough to peacefully demonstrate. No guts no glory as the saying goes.

  16. NP, thanks for that recollection of the storming of bastille episode.

That was reprised in Les Miserables and Equaliser posted here the famous song sang at the barricades.

Gloria Arroyo watched Les Miserables recently in New York.It looked like the message didn’t get through her. Kapal talaga.

Welcome Madam Ellen, and I think Gloria learned a lot after watching Les Miserables… she has reviewed and enhanced her counter measures and strategies…she is a very good student of history wherein most of the Filipinos are not.

  20. This message from, Garizaldy Cubelo , is rather long but it makes a lot of sense:

Palagi daw naggo-grocery at nagmo-mall.

    1 kilo Baboy – P155
    1 kilo Manok – P122
    1 kilo Baka – P220
    165 gram, Luncheon meat – P26
    150 gram Sardinas – P21
    170 gram, Meat loaf – P29
    1/4 kilo, Talong – P20
    1/4 kilo, Pechay – P20
    1/4 kilo, Kamatis- P10

  22. jojovelas2005 jojovelas2005

Bedol is missing…dapat linisin muna ang comelec bago magkaroon ng snap election…they will just keep on hiding.

Tignan natin yun impeachment na i-file ng opposition kung magkakaroon ng suporta and then if it will force the president to call for Snap Election. Remember during edsa 2, President Erap calls for Snap Election pero tinanggihan ng mga civil society.

Props to the OFW’s. Too bad they are being use and abused by for Gloria and company’s personal gain. I’ve been to Qatar twice this year( Jan & July) and we always have good conversations with OFW’s about the state of the Philippines. I definitely never heard any positive comments about Gloria’s leadership. They’ve been mentioning how much they often send money more than ever to their families because it won’t fit their budget anymore because of the steady price inclination of goods in the Phils. Most of them sacrifice their dayoff just to make additional money for their families. Sad but true. They have been telling me that Gloria needs to go, by hook or by crook…

  24. Excerpts from a Presidential Speech of Resignation

    Good evening my countrymen:

This is the 37th time I have spoken to you from this office, where so many decisions have been made that shaped the history of this Nation. Each time I have done so to discuss with you some matter that I believe affected the national interest.

In all the decisions I have made in my public life, I have always tried to do what was best for the Nation.

In the past few days, however, it has become evident to me that I no longer have a strong enough political base in the Congress to justify continuing that effort. As long as there was such a base, I felt strongly that it was necessary to see the constitutional process through to its conclusion, that to do otherwise would be unfaithful to the spirit of that deliberately difficult process and a dangerously destabilizing precedent for the future.

But with the disappearance of that base, I now believe that the constitutional purpose has been served, and there is no longer a need for the process to be prolonged.

I would have preferred to carry through to the finish whatever the personal agony it would have involved, and my family unanimously urged me to do so. But the interests of the Nation must always come before any personal considerations.
    .
I have never been a quitter. To leave office before my term is completed is abhorrent to every instinct in my body. But as President, I must put the interest of the country first.

The nation needs a full-time President and a full-time Congress, particularly at this time with problems we face at home and abroad.

To continue to fight through the months ahead for my personal vindication would almost totally absorb the time and attention of both the President and the Congress in a period when our entire focus should be on the great national issues of economic prosperity and political stability..

Therefore, I shall resign the Presidency effective at noon tomorrow. The Vice President will be sworn in as President at that hour in this office.

By taking this action, I hope that I will have hastened the start of that process of healing which is so desperately needed in this country.

I regret deeply any injuries that may have been done in the course of the events that led to this decision. I would say only that if some of my judgments were wrong, and some were wrong, they were made in what I believed at the time to be the best interest of the Nation.

To those who have stood with me during these past difficult months, to my family, my friends, to many others who joined in supporting my cause because they believed it was right, I will be eternally grateful for your support.

And to those who have not felt able to give me your support, let me say I leave with no bitterness toward those who have opposed me, because all of us, in the final analysis, have been concerned with the good of the country, however our judgments might differ.

To have served in this office is to have felt a very personal sense of kinship with our people. In leaving it, I do so with this prayer: May God’s grace be with you in all the days ahead.

History has vindicated this man – Richard Milhous Nixon.

He is credited with having opened communications between China and the US and the detente betweeen the Soviet bloc and the US, together with Willy Brandt of West Germany.

It was he who pulled out the US troops from the morass that was Vietnam.

  26. atty36252 atty36252

But the resignation was prompted by the following:

Investigations conducted by the FBI, Senate Watergate Committee, House Judiciary Committee and the press revealed that this burglary was just one of many illegal activities authorized and carried out by Nixon’s staff. They also revealed the immense scope of crimes and abuses, which included campaign fraud, political espionage and sabotage, illegal break-ins, wiretapping on a massive scale, including the wiretapping of the press and American citizens, and a secret slush fund laundered in Mexico to pay those who conducted these operations. This secret fund was also used as hush money to buy silence of the seven men who were indicted for the June 17 break-in. (wikipedia)

This guy was an amateur. He should have paid the congressmen to block his impeachment like some woman I know.

Garizaldy Cubelo; Let me ask you this Amigo! Do you think that the government care about the people? They don’t! Paisano! Government has a lot of ways to manipulate the economy by a doctor of economics.Judas in the governments have three options to raise the necessary cash. They can raise it through taxes; borrow it; or print it in the Central Bank.Printing money causes an increase in the money supply. While we are all complaining for high prices in goods and foods ,inflation is the main culprit of the problems.A persistent rise in the general level of prices related to an increase in the volume of money and the currency to losing value-results. When inflation rises, people try to spend money before it loses value.

These problem also associated with the mismanagement by the midget doctor of economics in Malacanang, she is very generous to her cronies and allies governors and tongressman in it’s spending. Thanks to Recto for his E-Vat; the president has a lot of extra cash! While the E-vat is a law and will often accelerate quickly in each collection, OFW’s savings diminishes and become zero in the bank book account down the road, thereby worsening the imbalance between money supply and household economic budget. Moreover, because poor people have fewer or no assets at all to shield them against economic vagaries, they tend to suffer the most from high prices of foods.

Never worry about the bag of money from the White lady, Gloria would pay its expenses by putting people to work as OFW’s and E-Vat do not necessarily precede growth and do more harm than good. The surgeon general to remove these cancer in our country is still in the process of cloning, politicians have promised they could find the magic bullet that would solve our country’s woes painlessly, but none has yet succeeded in producing one. Erap is history and Jingoy is starting to sleep with the enemy and I guess the misfortune is to be an OFW na lang,Manong!

  30. In America ,—three Presidents, George Washington,Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt are consistently ranked on top of the lists of “Great Presidents”.

In the Philippines ,Gloria Arroyo,Joseph Estrada and Ferdinand Marcos can be considered as the “Great” Presidents based on five categories (leadership qualities, accomplishments & crisis management, political skill, appointments, and most importantly CHARACTER & INTEGRITY).

  31. newphilippines newphilippines

cocoy, to be an “OFW na lang” is not a misfortune… I think you are just kidding…it would be better and not bitter to be an OFW believe me. It would be a misfortune if you are an ordinary worker or employee working here in the Philippines and still paying taxes na kukurakutin lang ng ating gobyerno!

  33. bulakenyo, I think the appointment of macarambon means we won’t have a clean election in 2010. That is if we are going to have an election.

O still believe if we don’t make Gloria Arroyo resign now, she will stay in power beyond 2005.

  34. petite petite

newphilippines, sa iyong tinuran: “cocoy, to be an “OFW na lang” is not a misfortune… I think you are just kidding…it would be better and not bitter to be an OFW believe me. It would be a misfortune if you are an ordinary worker or employee working here in the Philippines and still paying taxes na kukurakutin lang ng ating gobyerno!”

petite, I have been an OFW in the middle east (AL Khobar and covering the whole region) like you . And I understand your sentiments. I am not discounting the psychological, sociological, emotional impact in working there. Not that I am only measuring the financial impact, its because the point of discussion from cocoy’s comment is more on financial issues.

  37. parasabayan parasabayan

Ellen, are there organizations or people lobbying for the rights of the OFWs. If these oversees workers are the fuel to our ailing economy, their voices should be heard!

I just came back from a trip where I found out that over 70% of the crew were Filipinos. Young( ranging from 25 to 35 yrs old), beautiful Filipinos(men and women), college graduates and most have very young kids left behind. All of the ones I had a chance to talk to complained how their meager salaries can no longer support their families. Their other half also have to find oversees employment to augment the family’s income leaving their kids to “katiwalas” or if they are lucky to the grandparents. Over 13 million Filipinos are sacrificing a lot just to keep the country afloat and what does this tiyanak do? Squander as much money as she can to bribe everyone in her government so she can stay in power! Nakakaiyak talaga.

Sky high oil prices coupled with massive corruption could trigger people’s revolt against inept Arroyo regime. The OFW’s and expatriates are directly affected by the rising oil prices and prime commodities in the Philippines. They have to send more hard earned-dollars to their families and extended families back home. The price of crude oil in Asia is $92.78 per barrel and keeps rising. A gallon of gas cost $3.20 average in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Our strong peso should have at least soften the impact of the rising oil prices. Btw where do we buy our crude oil? Is it Dubai crude or Asia/ Singapore Crude? As far as I can remember Dubai crude is cheaper than the Asia/ Singapore Crude and it seems the oil company here is using the Asia/ Singapore Crude as their benchmark in oil price increase. Info pls.

    Petite;
I share your sentiment about the exploitation of our OFW’s that is Maid in the Philippines. Our government has no solution for these and instead it is morally justified in considering despatching our mother and sister in an oil rich country to work as maids.Against a frequent cases of abuse with high degree of atrocity inflicted against them, they face daily inhumane treatment and exploitation including raped by their abusive employers. If they become pregnant, they would be put on the next plane out.Oftentimes they are required to work all there waking hours and was not entitled to even one day off each week

They are being considered as their sex toys or slave, they are denied proper rights and protections. There is a lot of abuse, harassment and exploitation going on,and it is a misfortune to become a Maid in the Philippines to be an OFW and often a lack of empathy for these women whom the president called them her Bagong Bayani. These workers are there for the money because no jobs for them in our country and at the same time they are helping our countries with remittances to keep the economy to stay afloat and they deserve respect and acknowledgment for that, and not to squander their tax money. Many women of these Maid in the Philippines who toil away for hard work are ground into an early grave through the physical exertion of bearing and depression while struggling against squalor, disease and poverty.Newphilippines,Do you agree?

The government should really put a stop to sending maids to the Middle East. The high incident of abuse and maltreatmet of these maids is not worth the dollars they can send back home.

Also, the inutile embassy officials in the middle east cannot do anything to stop these. They may, in some instances, even abet the abuse by sending back run-away maids to their abusive employers.

  43. Allow me to compare prices of the following with prices here (where minimum wage law prescribes employers to pay 1400 Euros monthly, i.e., full time maids or houseboys.)

In Pinas vs In France approximate prices
1 kilo Baboy – P155; (in France: 5 Euros and sometimes less 4.50 Euros)
1 kilo Manok – P122; (4 Euros or less; one whole uncooked chicken which weighs an everage of 2 kilos would cost 7 to 8 Euros)
    1 kilo Baka – P220; (18 Euros)
    165 gram, Luncheon meat – P26; (1 Euro 50)
    150 gram Sardinas – P21; (1 Euro or less 89 cents)
170 gram, Meat loaf – P29 (don’t know this but if we compare it to paté de campagne which is some kind of meat loaf, price would be 25 Euros per kilo of paté)
    1/4 kilo, Talong – P20 (3 Euros)
1/4 kilo, Pechay – P20 (don’t have this but salad that looks like French pechay would cost 1.50 Euro)
    1/4 kilo, Kamatis- P10 (3 Euros)

1 litter of milk in France costs less than 1 Euro.
Imported 1st class rice from Thailand costs about 5 Euros.

How can a person working as a maid with a family of 2 children be able to feed his/her family with prices so disproportionate to the person’s income in Pinas — I was told maids earn something like 3 to 4 thousand pesos monthly? Family will be undernuorished!

  44. These are my cost estimates for these items purchased at a Carrefour supermarket. There are other supermarket chains which sell these items for less although not a lot less, maybe 10% less overall.

  45. Luncheon meat and sausages in tins are very cheap because they are not popular with consumers here. You will find them in Chinese supermarkets though. (My own children don’t eat them nor do I.)

In the U.S. food is cheaper but labor is very expensive. To hire a cleaning lady is $100. for 4 hours, to have your carpet cleaned cost $120. for 3 rooms, hallway, the rest are extra. You better have a good insurance because if the worker have an accident, they will take you to court and the judge will judge in their favor and you might loss your house. Gasoline is $3.25 a gal. So in comparison to pesos its almost the same but we don’t have the problem of an epedemic corruption of Gloria Arroyo.

Last week we had the biggest fire in the history of Southern California. The next day our Congressman called us if we were okay and offered how FEMA, American Red Cross, Salvation Army could help but our house is okay. So the next day I help in the center to help the people that needed help. We served breakfast, lunch and dinner. I only saw 2 Asians and the rest were Mexicans, some were coming from Mexico, by their plate number in their cars. These help are coming from the U.S. government. Our President came, our Governor came to the fire site, promised the help of the Federal government. In comparison to Katrina, California is better organized, better leaders.

    totoo yan dandaw.

    Nelbar,

The way I look at the 8 bills in the Senate is, the Senators try to get support from big companies like oil companies so the Tongressmen can extract money from these big businesses. That way, they can pocket some. The tongressmen then channel it thru Environmental Education so then the bill either die or the tongressmen will sleep over it until it fizzle down to nothing. meanwhile the people that suffered during the storm can not be helped. How can being so environmentally educated help in the disaster like uncontrollable storm when the immediate need of the people are shelter and food. That should be the rule of government.

There are a lot of U.S. organization that help overseas. The one notable one is the Prysbitarian church, the Methodist Church, American Red Cross, Salvation Army to name a few. I can not mention Catholic churches because they use their collection money for their own use and the rest they send it to the Pope in Rome and also build their humongous churches like State of the Art Museums. Though I must admit I like to look at stained art glass of domes and windows. That way one can be hungry but rich in art.
