The November 29 movement

If Gloria Arroyo and her minions think they have crushed the passion for truth and justice of those who were at the Manila Peninsula on Nov. 29, they are very wrong.

The civilians arrested at the Manila Peninsula hotel at the end of the November 29 Makati standoff have formed a new “movement” after a court dismissed the rebellion charges filed against them.

Former University of the Philippines president Francisco Nemenzo told reporters at Camp Crame Thursday evening that they had named their new group the November 29 Movement or N29M.

Nemenzo was at the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters to meet 10 of the civilian detainees who were released from the Camp Crame Custodial Center at around 9:30 p.m.

Nemenzo, along with former vice president Teofisto Guingona Jr., Infanta bishop emeritus Julio Labayen and artist Bibeth Orteza had been released earlier on humanitarian grounds.

Four more civilians — activist priest Robert, lawyers JV Bautista and Argee Guevarra, and Julian Advincula — have chosen to remain another night in the detention facility.

One of the released civilians, Francisco Bosi, was however, fetched by a truckload of soldiers and taken into the custody of the Armed Forces Provost Marhsall.

In all, 18 civilians were arrested after authorities stormed the Manila Peninsula to end the six-hour occupation of the hotel by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and a group of rebellious military officers who sought to drum up support for the ouster of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Senior Superintendent Rodrigo de Gracias, deputy chief of the headquarters support service, said Bosi is still on the Armed Forces roster as an enlisted man. Although Bosi claimed to have filed his resignation, De Gracias said the Armed Forces has yet to acknowledge this.

The first to walk out of detention were Myrna Buendia, Francisco Peñaflor and Romeo Solis.

Buendia said she was mulling charges against the PNP for detaining her.

Peñaflor, on the other hand, said he would lead a rally in Manila Friday afternoon.

Nemenzo said the concept of their new movement cropped up during their detention.

“Nagkasama-sama kami so na-brought up ang idea [We were together, so the idea was brought up]. I don’t think it’s a coup plot,” he said.

Nemenzo described themselves as a “smooth” movement with “no leaders and no headquarters.”

He said they would work they way they did when they campaigned for Senator Antonio Trillanes IV in the May elections.

  1. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is afraid of its people. — John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Gloria is afraid of the people!

  2. chi chi

Sige, file charges against PNP for illegal detention. Make them pay for their offensive acts.

The Pinas police force has turned into Gloria’s Horror and Torture Squad!

  3. Gloria can stiffle one, perhaps two, maybe three or even a thousand people at one time or the other but she can’t always stiffle dissent in people who can judge the truth and are against falsehood.

It’s like beating her head against a brick wall. She might as well declare Martial Law but even that won’t stop the brave from dissenting.

  4. What Gloria fails to understand or refuses to accept is that as Thomas Jefferson said, “All authority belongs to the people.”

She and her police, and the members of cabinet are merely the executors of that authority but ultimate authority belongs to the people. Until she accepts that, she will commit mistakes after mistakes. And her mistakes will forment dissent.

    She is NOT the State!

  5. hawaiianguy hawaiianguy

“All authority belongs to the people.” I think GMA only thinks of power, not authority. Power is derived, or conferred, but authority is inherent in a position, or in the giver of that position.

  6. Did you know that one of the factors that hastened the French Revolution was the stiffling of dissent?

The police during the time of Louis the XVI spied and spied and spied on the population… they intimidated and intimidated, brutalised writers and teachers — result, they lost their heads under the guillotine.

Voltaire was forced to go on exile because of this so what happened? He was influenced by John Locke and the latter’s treatise on government which Voltaire wrote about prolifically — this helped set the stage for the French Revolution.

So much for intimidating writers, intellectuals and stiffling dissent!

  7. HG,

This quote by Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn best describes the situation in which Trillanes and the incarcerated officers are in:

“You can have power over people as long as you don’t take everything away from them. But when you’ve robbed a man of everything, he’s no longer in your power.”

  9. That’s beautiful, Anna.

  10. hawaiianguy hawaiianguy

Is that quote found in AS’s Gulag? Very moving indeed! Sounds like “you can have power over my body, but you can’t destroy my spirit” (forgot the source).

  11. Ellen,

Gloria has robbed those men of everything except of their dignity — and even that, this government with all its might is trying to rob them still of their dignity by humiliating them.

That cannot go on — something is bound to break. That’s human nature. Even a frightened dog bites back when cornered.

The more Gloria, Puno, Esperon, Razon, Ermita, and all those humbugs humiliate Trillanes and the military officers, the less power they have on them.

  12. HG,

I think he said it during one of his lectures delivered after he won the Nobel Prize.

This government under Gloria wants others to observe limits (on freedom of the press, assembly, etc.). Yet, it arrogantly exceeds every known limit.

Abuse of power and authority has a multiplier effect. Yesterday, the B & W movement, now the N29M. Good luck, Prof. Nemenzo. May your tribe increase!

  15. “Abuse of power and authority has a multiplier effect.”

    Absolutely HG!

However, Gloria is counting on Filipino nonchalance and general love for low level intensity democracy to get her through.

Just look at the blogs — event those who were anti-Gloria have become pigeon-head and have forgotten that the enemy is Gloria!

Esperionic egotistic policies threatens Fress Freedoms, De Venecia’s gang of legislatures and courts are also often the most ineffective avenues for defending and expanding there rights and liberties. But it would be naive to ignore the fact that Goranian governments can sometimes step over the line and pass laws that do violate fress basic rights and civil liberties. Consider the political witch-hunts of the Marcos New Society in the 1970s, the Enrile’s thugs of hippie police harassment of civil rights leaders and fress freedom and the Ramos rambutan boys spying on the movement of activist and Macoy’s enemies list run numerically after Ninoy’s name. Thousands of people were secretly detained for months without any charges against them. They were denied lawyers and the right to a trial. Some suspects were herded in unknown location so they could be tortured. Some were asked to dig their own grave and sarhento pierced their skulls with a bullet.

Now, it is the trend of Doble’s wiretapping and other forms of surveillance of citizens – often without any evidence of any wrongdoing on their part. But consider this: Who comes to the rescue when our government violates our rights in these ways? To whom do we turn to revoke or remedy these actions and to make sure that they don’t happen again? Filipinos made these long mistake of seeing their rights and civil liberties as merely the absence of some kind of governmental action. Filipinos believe that they have free speech or freedom when the government does nothing to impede those freedoms. But in reality, Their rights depend heavily on either the adamant heart of Gloria or her pusong mamon. Rights do not exist until Gloria and Esperon said SO!

The only core of opposition to Gloria is the church of Rosales kung walang manila envelope, The El Shaddai of Villarde at Ang dalawang Daang Buhay na parang life.Church has supported the demands for the restoration of civil rights, an ironic somersault considering its past money collection record. Some sections of the Church have allied with leftist groups in a common effort to resist the regime katulad ni Padir na sumama kay Trillanes and Among na ayaw tumangap ng paper bag.The Catholics, on the other hand, are predominantly against the regime on the basis of restriction of civil rights, and have been silent on the issue of supporting Trillanes and the Cha-Cha rally that turned out to be a Mass of Gloria’s Unity blessed with padded envelope.

  20. Hi Guys,

Some quotes from Henry David Thoreau (Civil Disobedience)

They plainly did not know how to treat me, but behaved like persons who are under-bred. In every threat and in every compliment there was a blunder; for they thought that my chief desire was to stand the other side of that stone wall…. I saw that the State was half-witted, that it was timid as a lone woman with her silver spoons, and that it did not know its friends from its foes, and I lost all my remaining respect for it, and pitied it.

Must the citizen ever for a moment, or in the least degree, resign his conscience to the legislator? Why has every man a conscience then? I think that we should be men first, and subjects afterward. It is not desirable to cultivate a respect for the law, so much as for the right. The only obligation which I have a right to assume is to do at any time what I think right.

Please visit this website and try to go through part 1 to 3.

  21. I remember a column from De Quiros who described Marcos as a braggart who suddenly lost an audience. Many people thought Marcos was impregnable and invincible. His more than 20 year reign rendered everyone in awe on the immense power over the people.

Yet in 1986, it only took 4 days and unarmed civilians to make him and his family scamper to safety to Honolulu. We thought he was as strong as a trojan wall yet marshmallow lang pala.

I can speak of the same thing on this present pretender. Mukhang malakas pero mamon lang pala. Take out the military and she is a goner.

  22. Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862) profoundly influenced such political giants as Mohandas Gandhi, Leo Tolstoy, and Martin Luther King Jr.

Thoreau compares government to a machine and the problems of government to “friction.” Friction is normal to a machine so that its mere presence cannot justify revolution. But open rebellion does become justified in two cases: first, when the friction comes to have its own machine, that is, when the injustice is no longer occasional but a major characteristic; and, second, when the machine demands that people cooperate with injustice.

Thoreau declared that, if the government requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then, I say, break the law. Let your life be a counter friction to stop the machine.

“Former University of the Philippines president Francisco Nemenzo told reporters at Camp Crame Thursday evening that they had named their new group the November 29 Movement or N29M.” Another new group is not going to make any different among the already list of groups. Perhaps, I’m not the one better qualified to name all the groups that’re now existed and political parties, they’re dime a dozen, just too many of them for me to name, but you can just imagine. All it takes, in my humble opinion, is just one united group, “One Million Citizens”, most willing to save the country from further destruction, with a leader or leaders most determine to go all the way to the finish line, no matter what the cost, as long as the final objective is to rid of illegal scumbags inside the whore-house (formerly Malacanang Palace). The opposition are so fragmented with all different set of ideas that come in spurt like a typhoon, once it releashes its might, then it goes away, never heard from anymmore. On the other hand, without going through details, whore Gloria Arroyo and her scumbags have a mission, to bring down anyone that gets in whore Gloria’s ambitions. It doesn’t take a scientist to realize what’s now happening, even the congress is immaterial, they pretend they’ve the power with reprimand (tap on the wrist), just to make noise to let the people know that they’re not sleeping on the job. But, we all know better. How about the judicial institution, are they still around? I don’t believe, Trillanes and Lim are such individuals to lead the country.

Over seven years of whore Gloria Arroyo in the people’s house is quite a long time, a power grabber that will live infamy (if I may borrow from FDR). It was a mistake then, it’s a mistake now to let the usurper whore Gloria to stay a minute longer, whore Gloria must be deposed. Not a question of why, but how, sooner the better for everybody and the country as a whole. Whore Gloria Arroyo must go!
A bad contagious disease that must be rid of. Whore Gloria is “Number One Enemy” of the people. Her picture must be posted all over the country, on all govt facilities, buildings, post offices especially, and wherever, as the Number One Enemy. A beginning of an all out war to rid of the whore Gloria. A war that must be won!

  29. Toney Cuevas Toney Cuevas

Whore Gloria Arroyo, “Number One Enemy”, got all the govt resources at her very disposal, no doubt, it has been proven time and time again. What she doesn’t have is the “One Million Citizens” most willing to do battle with whore Gloria has failed. It’s now stand to reason, “One Million Citizens” is necessary ingredient to make it work, to kick the hell out of whore Gloria out of the people’s house. She has been there too doggone long enough, and her welcome has been exhausted. Prostitution in the whore house and the constitution must now end. Brown bags in the house of the people, must cease. And, if I’ve my way I’ll burn Malacanang Palace (now a whore house) to the ground. The whore house is nothing but bad memories, house of the thieves at the expense of the people’s tax payers. Totally disgusting!

  30. Toney Cuevas Toney Cuevas

Sorry, I’m totally pissed. I’m utterly disgusted hearing and reading whore Gloria Arroyo’s criminal acts and her family of thieves. We do nothing, technically, while they all smiling all the way to their bank accounts, at the very our own eyes. Quite incredible! I’m beginning to wonder if we Pilipinos really deserve to have a sovereign nation when we can’t even dispose of I considered a tiny (what is it 4’6″?) problem.

I totally agree with you Tony. In fact, the “Resign Gloria” is already a joke and yet the politicians and civil society group are still harping this tune, as if they’re giving this unano a good chance of perpetuating her 4’6 height into power forever and ever. She’s still enjoying it very much, if they haven’t notice!

They are being played by Gloria and they are buying it! Waiting for Godot!

  33. Isagani Isagani

I notice that the the Gloria name calling has mellowed. Just a few months ago she got cussed every few lines. The cussing is still there, but in a calmer tone. I also miss that “I love everything Japanese” japayuki with her super long comments, often out of topic, critical of pinoy values and always hard selling Japanese virtue.

Anyway, many say that this standoff was not thought through, hastily done and all that. Well, yes! It sure looks that way, BUT, heres the big but:

It keeps the pressure on Gloria. It keeps the hope alive. It shows that there are still people who put action to words. People who are not afraid to sacrifice themselves. People who are not afraid of overwhelming brute force to fight for their beliefs. That there are still people who are prepared to pay full price to put Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to justice.

It’s reported that Fr. Robert Reyes, lawyers Jose Virgilio Bautista and Argee Guevarra and Julian Advincula held a press conference at the PNP custodial center before they left the premises, which sparked tension among their supporters and police elements deployed in the premises.

The supporters of the Reyes group surprised police authorities when they pulled out banners and streamers denouncing the Arroyo administration of involvement in graft and corruption, prompting PNP security teams to drive them out of the custodial center.

“We are proud, honored. We were at the Manila Peninsula to question the legitimacy of a government and the day after we were arrested was followed by the day that President Arroyo and more than 40 congressmen went to Europe using people’s money,” Bautista said.

“A few days thereafter she (Mrs. Arroyo) was declared as the most corrupt president, even more than Erap and Marcos (showing) unprecedented abuse of power,” he added.

We need a leader..this N29M was born when Sen. Trillanes and Gen. Lim & Co. brought to our attention once again that the Philippines #1 enemy is the corrupt Pangulo named Gloria. It may not be Gloria alone but all those who advises her, works for her but under the command responsibility theory (of which she does not seem to understand or have another definition) she has failed totally. Can we not re-group and be one under this new leadership of Gen Lim, Sen. Trillanes etc. They were there and experienced the “brutality” of the PNP. Sana mag kaisa na..at magtulugan..some cynics say that Filipinos can not be united.. I beg to disagree because we definitely can be one..Isang Puso, Isang Diwa, Isang Bayan..I know this was Imelda’s cry but despite of what we say she did..let us all put it behind us and together be one. We can do it!

can do it! Huwag natin ibenta ang ating kaluluwa sa tindahan ni Aling Gloria..at huwag bumili ng sabon sa tindahan ni Aling Gloria Labandera..let us sell a new Tide that would clean and wash the dirt. Let us clean the people’s palace called Malacanang..and remove the filth..

  48. There are groups and there are groups. While some see this as disunity, these small unions are better prepared than individuals on the final day of reckoning. It is important, therefore, that the leaders are chosen carefully by a set of values they stand for. It will be much easier to negotiate with a leader than individual souls.

There have been many attempts at gathering a mass of people to remove this tyrant but unless leaders show themselves at the forefront, no one will heed the calls.

We miss the likes of Dioknos, Tañadas, Roceses, Cervantezes who will not be cowed by fully-armed soldiers and hold their ground against truckloads of water jets. Our present crop of leaders prefer to watch TV and prepare for their grand entrance if and when the “rebels” win.

Intercon, Makati Shang and Mandarin did not only serve as hosts to transferees from Manila Pen that day. They had guests who made sure they will be the first ones to make it onstage at the first sign of victory.

We can do a better way than the Gloria Way, can we not? Atty. suggested a constitutional way..a revision of the constitution. Atty., please correct me if you suggested for a revision or an amendment..a revision would change the entire constitution while an amendment is a change of some parts and not the whole..In either case, however, it would need 2/3 votes of Congress and then the people. Or am I talking of the 1939 constitution? Atty. how can we do this effectively? Do the people have to vote for a referendum? This would however, mean a vote through the ballot. Can this be done without the Comelec? I would rather they don’t get involve..How can we do this effectively before 2010..would six months be enough time? Sorry, if I ask too many questions..it has been a while since I was in school..and I hate to admit it, I didn’t pay much attention then. I couldn’t vote yet at the time but we did have good lawmakers, governors, mayors, judges…good public servants…Where have all these good men gone? Long time passing..long time ago…

As I’ve said before, I read every, and I mean every comment posted here at Ellensville and as much as I can understand where the likes of our lawyer commentators are coming from the problem I see is that this evil woman has corrupted enough lawyers and judiciary to feel comfortable in fighting a legal battle.
The one place she is not comfortable with is when she is confronted by “the people” in large groups. People divided into small groups she can handle but this evil woman is afraid of large gatherings of people, hence the reason she bringing out the container vans to surround the Palace and red alerts etc. etc.
One Million warm bodies standing silently outside her whore house would be enough to threaten her to step down and no doubt mr arseperon would find himself another trip abroad!

  58. WWNL is right “The one place she is not comfortable with is when she is confronted by “the people” in large groups. People divided into small groups she can handle but this evil woman is afraid of large gatherings of people,”

She IS afraid of the people… If she weren’t evil, she wouldn’t be afraid of the people. If her conscience were clear, she would face the people; if she weren’t corrupt, she woudn’t have to come up with an odious invention that she doesn’t tolerate human rights abuse or that she is for the rule of law… it would have been a given.

I was, am pala, proposing an amendment. Isang maliit na pagbabago lang. Shorten the term, and have elections in 2008.

Yes you are right, a revision is a big change – may be the whole Constitution, or may be a major change, like changing to parliamentary from presidential.

You are right, the participation of Congress is needed. But the 1987 Constitution provided for a new way to amend, which is by way of a proposal from the people themselves.

And yes, it will require a referendum.

True, the Comelec has been bought. But Macoy had the Comelec too, in 86. Can we not muster the support of the people this time? Glo has the numbers with the Congressmen. We keep saying we have the numbers with the people, so why not give it a shot? Mas madali namang mangolekta ng signature kaysa tumawag ng mag-peo-people power.

I prefer to recommend this amendment, because mukhang may people power fatigue na. Besides, the muscle needed to mount a coup may have been bought already.

Erap will not move, because ayaw nang mapasok sa selda ulit. But a grassroots campaign for signatures, I’m sure sasali siya. Sasali din si Cory and the civil society, dahil walang violence.

This is the only viable alternative I see. Pati tayong nasa overseas, can add to the numbers, because, now, mayroon nang absentee balloting from overseas. We can campaign to get out the vote – whether sa Tate, Saudi, Europe, etc. Marami naman ang nasa labas.

Puro tayo tuloy ang laban. Pero papaano? I have made a proposal. Kung hindi okay, mag-propose tayo ng iba. Puro tayo vent ng galit sa keyboard. Meantime, naghihirap ang mga kababayan.

Gumunita ka ng kakilala in the US, tiyak na nagpapaaral ng pamangkin, apo, or some other relative. My mother died three months ago, at 81, nag-aalaga pa ng 84 year old, para lang may maipadala sa apo sa kuya ko. All her social security went to the Philippines, and more.

We can all wallow in our comfort here in the First World. But you and I were not brought up that way. Lumilingon pa rin tayo sa naiwanan.

  72. jay cynikho I would willing second your choice of Dodong Nemenzo, he’s what we need at this moment and time and that’s someone who has No Fear.

  73. Ellen,

I intended to disagree with you and klingon regarding your views on diversity of movements mostly due to the apparent futility of all these oust GMA movements that have been at it for years already, and the impact on the people of these failures psychologically is a “learned helplessness” or what we commonly call “apathy.” Its basically a desired response to a stimulus that is continously denied positive reinforcement, so it dies (in psychological parlance becomes an extinct behaviour). If we allow things to go their natural course we will see so many flashes in the pan – at least thats what I fear. But I may be wrong…So I tried to look for historical parallels and I found some in Thoreau. I apologize for posting the whole article, here it is…Klingon is right – we have to find a common goal…

    The problem with reformers

Thoreau specifically addresses fellow abolitionists who called for the immediate cessation of slavery. Instead of petitioning the government to dissolve the Union with slaveholders, Thoreau believed those reformers should dissolve “the union between themselves and the State,— and refuse to pay their quota into its treasury.” Petitions only strengthened the authority of the government by recognizing its authority and honoring the will of the majority. “[Any] man more right than his neighbors constitutes a majority of one already,” he observes.

The reformers who petition government for permission “love better to talk” about justice than to act on it. Thus, Thoreau concludes, “Reform keeps many scores of newspapers in its service, but not one man.” To men who prefer a safe strategy, voting becomes a substitute for action and politics becomes a sort of game, like checkers or backgammon, only with a slight moral tinge.

To Thoreau, anyone willing to leave moral decisions to the will of the majority is not really concerned that right should prevail. When resisting the poll tax, he did not consult the majority; he acted. If he had allowed the majority to decide whether or not he should pay, by his own standards he would have shown no regard for what is right.

Moreover, Thoreau considers voting to be a poor vehicle for reform because voting follows real change; it does not precede or cause it. “When the majority shall at length vote for the abolition of slavery,” he writes, “it will be because they are indifferent to slavery, or because there is but little slavery left to be abolished by their vote.” As for the other means that the state provides for changes to itself, they are extraordinarily slow. Thoreau notes, “They take too much time, and a man’s life will be gone.”

It is my sincere hope and wish for the success of the Nov 29 movement not only to deter any hidden agenda of gloria and her minions, but for her to be kicked out from the stolen throne which she continues to prostitute.

  75. Those who put forward the idea of taking the fight out of the realm of legality and into the political arena are right. All this legal talk is useless and a waste of time at this point as the administration has vast army of overpaid hacks, professional legal wrestlers…

  76. Toney Cuevas Toney Cuevas

I’m convince, it’s all about numbers” and whore Gloria Arroyo know how to play it well. The only reason Marcos vacated the office is because of the “Numbers” of people on the street most determined to kick his butt out and Imelda…Erap cowardly vacated the office of the Presidency after the people gave him the mandate to govern, yet whore Gloria saw to it differently when she was his Vice President. Whore Gloria Arroyo couldn’t wait another five years, and she couldn’t care about the constitution nor the rule of law.

So, whore Gloria planned and plotted along with others to overthrow Erap. As we all know, whore Gloria made sure she got enough “Numbers” of people to march on the street to do her dirty job. Needless to say, you all know the rest of the story, it was the “Numbers” of people on the street that did it for whore Gloria. We are now paying for the mistake of the past, the “Numbers” of people who took part on the illegal took over of the govt. We can also thanks Erap for surrendering Malacanang quite easily. And, whore Gloria didn’t have to work hard for her ambition, “Numbers” of people provided it to her.

For the past years, whore Gloria has been playing Numbers, buying off the Congressmen, Generals and many others to remain in the whore house. Most recently, once again, whore Gloria played the “Numbers Game”. How can we forget, brown bags breakfast party inside the whore house, where whore Gloria used her dogs to buy off enough “Numbers” of congressmen so she will not be impeached. How about that one million dagdag/bawas in 2004 national election, won’t you all agree it was Number One Million that gave Fernando Poe Jr the heart attacked. There is no doubt, the only way to get rid of whore Gloria is the “Numbers” of people on the street. Amen!

  77. Toney Cuevas Toney Cuevas

Rule of Law went out the window in 2001 when whore Gloria Arroyo decided she’s above the law. We can forget getting any support or assistance from the Judicial Branch nor the Congress, both has a poor records of defending or enforcing the law. Look at those Senators couldn’t even get anybody to show up in Congress to give testimony, and those witnesses are making a mockery of them. And, what the Congress has done, absolutely nothing. Oooops little tap on the wrist, perhaps. Trillanes, Lim and others has the right idea, but they don’t have the “Numbers”, they should have waited and coordinated to those willing, but they just wants to march in the middle of Makati streets instead. On the hand, whore Gloria got more than “Numbers” of soldiers and PNP to overwhelmed a measley 50 hopeless people, I believe. Next time, anybody wants to do battle with whore Gloria, I hope, at least, they have enough “Numbers.” Also, since whore Gloria no longer play with the rule of law, why should the people.

  78. Tony Cuevas,

I hope I will still be posted here when that time comes, if not I will be joining the other OFWs in whatever actions they take. Btw, strangely enough, there are some members of the military who believe FPJ’s heart attack was chemically induced, I could’ve shrugged it off as mere heresay if I didn’t hear it from a sector extrememely proximal to the palace…eventually the truth will come out though…

  79. Anyway, I have to go now, need to spend time with my family. Anyone in the powerplant mall area? I’m here in UCC, I’ll buy you coffee and breakfast if you can drop by, look for somebody with a noisy 1 year old.

  81. Hello again,

I try to spend my weekends as much as possible with the family nowadays. Children grow so fast, I realized that if you’re not careful you’ll be facing a stranger all of a sudden.

  82. Just had a talk with a friend regarding all these “Trillanes bashers” and I was advised not to get all riled up about them. Fact of the matter is, the more people castigate Trillanes, the more the “kabaro” sympathy grows, even those who were originally unsympathetic to the cause will align with it not bacause of they believe but because a part of them is being hurt. These people are all that matters not those perennial “critics.”

  83. Sen. Trillanes, Gen. Lim and Mr. Nemenzo were right, don’t wait for the majority -act as a majority of one. Those UP alumni showing disrespect for Nemenzo should be ashamed of themselves, the man knows more than we give him credit for. Even if we look at Steven Covey’s teachings, we are responsible for our OWN actions, if we want to, we can INDIVIDUALLY decide to act, the numbers will come later…

    “CONSCIENCE VS. THE COLLECTIVE –
This is the key to Thoreau’s political philosophy. The individual is the final judge of right and wrong. More than this, since only individuals act, only individuals can act unjustly.”

  88. THE LAWYERS’ INABILITY TO ACCEPT THE TRUTH

The lawyer’s truth is not Truth, but consistency or a consistent expediency…. He well deserves to be called … the Defender of the Constitution…. Still thinking of the sanction which the Constitution gives to slavery, he says, “Because it was part of the original compact,— let it stand.” [He] is unable to take a fact out of its merely political relations…. – HENRY DAVID THOREAU

The truth according to legality is based on the law, the constitution, this is a myopic view of reality and not the way to truth. Our forefathers, being of humble beginnings were not pompous and arrogant lawyers who believed that what they established was PERFECT already thats why they made a way for changes, for amendments. It will take generations upon generations of amendments to even begin to touch perfection. Sadly enough, though well versed in argument and legalese, lawyers are limited in this way…

Just thinking: It has been said by many (and certainly not all) that the Philippines is morally bankrupt..even our kagalang galang na mga pari, bishops (aywan ko lang si Bishop Villegas ay kasama dito) cardinals (aywan ko kung kasali din si Cardinal Rosales) said so. Can we call for a Unity in Prayers Week..can they start and designate a week say mid January? Hindi yong papuntahin ang mga tao sa Luneta (kasi puede nilang iharang…kailangan ang permit..) but a week when we individually can go to our respective churches to say an extra prayer or services each day ..Muslims, Christians (Catholics, Protestants..etc) Halimbawa, sa mga Catolico kung sa pagsimba sa Baclaran on Wednesday include a prayer for the removal of the root of evil..removal of the root of corruption; the conversion and change of hearts of the Executive powers, Legislative (both houses), Judiciary (from the lowest court to the Supreme Court), military, businessmen, who are involved in the corruption in our gov’t..Ipagdasal natin na maalis ang lahat ng mga sagabal sa Katarungan, Kayapaan, at Kaunlaran ng ating bayan..kung nagsisimba ka kay St. Jude ganoon din..and in churches like Sn. Miguel Cathedral, San Beda, San Beda, Quiapo, San SEbastian expose the Blessed Sacrament..because we do believe in the presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament..and let’s do nationally, sa lahat ng barrios, in all the countries where there are many Filipinos..seguro kung lahat tayo ay gumawa dito sa Manila hindi mahaharang ng PNB…hindi naman rally eh..nagsisimba sa mga simbahan..lalo na sa malapit sa Palasyo..hindi rally ito against Gloria at hindi niya puedeng ibawal..ang ipagdasal naman ay tungkol sa pagalis ng root of corruption..conversion and change of heart for those who are greedy and hungry for power…puera na lang kung sa akala niya siya yon..Let us pray for the cleaning up of corruption, greed, etc. Anong say ninyo? Bishop Labayen, Fr. Reyes, puede ba ito..prayers for the removal of evil that tribes in our country…

  104. rose rose

sorry I don’t know how to chop my thoughts…and we can also get signatures needed for atty.’s proposal…sabi niya by the end of January we have to get the signatures…we can ask those who come to pray if they want to sign for the amendment of the term of office…The primary intention of the prayers..Remove the Root of All Corruption and Evil in the Country particularly in the Government.

    rose,

we can do ask for guidance of the Highest on our own and not through the invitation of those calling themselves pious but had sold their souls to the devil.

there is no more need to ask for middlemen when we can talk to God directly.

    Maligayang Pasko!

    RE: JUST THINKING!

I have only ONE word sa mga binanggit mo, CHRISTLESS society!
