Statement of Capt. Nick Faeldon

Statement of Atty Trixie Angeles, lawyer of Capt. Nick Faeldon:

Today marks the 44th day of the disappearance of Capt. Nicanor Faeldon. By the end of this day, he will have been missing for a longer period than the time when he left detention on 14 December 2005 and was returned to detention on 27 January 2006.

His family, friends and associates hope and pray that he is alive and well. Nevertheless, present or not, he has served and continues to serve as an inspiration to all to continue the fight for a credible government. The organization that he founded, Pilipino.org is doing well, it celebrated its second anniversary and membership continues to grow. Its success is due in no small part to the universality of Capt. Faeldon’s vision for a just Philippines.

We take this opportunity to express our continuing opposition to the government position that Capt. Faeldon must be hunted down like a common criminal. These unjustifiable acts are calculated to cause him harm or justify future acts of violence against his person. In turn, this amounts to an admission that he has become a symbol of continuing opposition to the personification of injustice that this administration and its co-conspirators have become.

In contrast, the Philippine National Police no less, has admitted that they can not (will not?) find (look for?) Lintang Bedol, the COMELEC official who is allegedly responsible for wholesale cheating in both the 2004 and 2007 elections. By the PNP’s admission, the hunt for Bedol is limited only to the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao and is not national in scope. There is no reward for any information leading to his capture and there are no WANTED posters out for him.

Yet both men are being “hunted down” for CONTEMPT – Capt. Faeldon for contempt of court and Bedol for contempt of the COMELEC. The only difference being that one opposes the administration and the other props it up. Enough said about the “rule of law” and equal protection under it.

  1. Political Power and the Rule of Law

The problem is that politicians are not supposed to have power over us – we’re supposed to be free. We seem to have forgotten that freedom means the absence of government coercion. So when politicians and the media celebrate political power, they really are celebrating the power of certain individuals to use coercive state force. – Ron Paul

Many police officers are for sale. Impossible to have a good police force with that attitude.

The lady of justice holding the balance is no longer blinfolded in this administration. She looks for the oppositors and destabilizers only.

  5. Ever wonder why GMA, her cohorts, and back-up singers have this habit of calling on the RULE OF LAW?

This was what the eminent constitutionalist, Claro M. Recto, had warned against in his September 25, 1958 speech, “The Paradoxes of Our Democracy.” He said that “The government seems to have discovered the secret of what we may call a ‘democratic dictatorship’.” Recto explained that under a democratic dictatorship “We are allowed to enjoy the appearances of democracy while its substance is stealthily being sucked away” xxx and “we (become) the happiest serfs because we don’t realize that we are serfs and we believe ourselves to be free.”

Very painful, but true, some are even good friends, they look forward to the envelops with cash everytime there is a meeting with a prominent government official. How can they refuse, without these, gutom pamilya nila?

    juggernaut,

  8. Mrivera,

We are living in dark days indeed.

  12. klingon klingon

Kayo naman, GMA really believes that we are all created equal, with some people more equal than others!

  13. petite,

PMA, just like UP or any other school here are just that – schools. In fact, if did not have PMA with its regimented adherence to Integrity, Courage, and Loyalty, not to mention “honor” – our officers will be a lot worst.
Not all products of PMA are rotten eggs, its only a minority, it just so happens that that minority are in power right now.
In our fight for reforms, let us preserve our institutions, otherwise the solution that we choose will be more damaging than the problem itself.

  14. On another note, I visited pilipino.org just a few minutes ago, I like it, especially the civil disobedience articles, as I have similar views.

  15. petite petite

  16. balweg balweg

Petite ang ganda ng paliwanag mo? I like it. Example: Si Tabako sa Ayala Alabang yan nakatira, how about yong maraming Heneral ang gaganda ng buhay.

Pagdi corrupt sigurado for sale! May exemption naman ito tulad nila Gen. Lim/Gen. Miranda/Col. Querobun, AT4, Capt. Faeldon at marami pang iba.

May pa rule of law pa silang nalalaman. Isama na rin si Davide at Puno.

  17. petite,

The military is probably the most conservative of all institutions. Inorder for it to function as it was designed, radical actions, or anything that disturbs the chain of command is discouraged.
To the majority of the men in uniform, protecting the constitution, adhering to the rule of law is
THE duty, now there are opportunists in their midst, but to a great extent, there are also decent ones. Like it or not, there are those who believe that if they go against their mandate, it will be more damaging to the military institution itself.
The clamor for change in government is more OUR responsibility than the military. Kung pwede lang sana huwag silang madamay. Our apathy has come to a point that kailangan pa nilang isakripisyo ang kanilang mga propesyon para sa atin, hindi pa sapat ang pagharap nila sa giyera.

  18. balweg balweg

I miss you ALL!

  19. balweg,

  20. Petite,

Siguro, iyan ang tinatawag na Nazi syndrome… maraming tao sa mundo na dangal ang prinsipyo but when there’s so much evil, people, human beings that they are get contaminated.

Pareho sa PMA, whatever one says, I’m certain PMA cadets start off with quite a noble intention, are trained in the most noble tradition and graduate with an excellent notion of nobility and our politics contaminate them. Obviously, I suspect that the moral fiber of those who get contaminated easily is weak.

At the same time, we must face the fact that military officers by training and vocation become martial, i.e., they obey. For a republic to maintin a semblance of discipline, they have to follow rules and regulations of the institution under which they function, rightly or wrongly.

I don’t completely blame the officers who did not heed the call of BGen D Lim — it is very difficult for an officer to turn around and say without a moment’s hesitation and say, “He’s right, I will heed his call and bring down this government…” In that sense, he will become no more no less like the NPA warriors that he’s fighting.

It is my belief that for as long as there is democracy or semblance of it, the military should stay put — they should be the last component of the nation to break away from the Republic.

You see, that’s precisely what happened in 2001 — the military officers DID NOT reflect on the consequences of their action, result: mayhem today.

But if this continues and if truly Gloria and her government intensifies their misrule thereby causing chaoes and indiscipline, there is no doubt in my mind that the good and honourable officers in military who have not joined Lim will come out and topple this govt.

The military cannot thrive in a vaccuum — in principle they operate well in an environment of discipline and order, without which, they themselves will seek to put things right.

Military rule is a double-edge sword. We must not and cannot toy with a military rule.

  21. ADB,

Amen. I could not have said it any better.

  22. Having said that, it is important to remember that since time immemorial, many of the world’s greatest leaders (some were the greates democratic movers) were from the military.

An officer is first and foremost trained to LEAD. Warring is but one of his functions but LEADERSHIP is his inherent vocation.

  23. In other words, do not lose hope in our military, our police, our clergy, and yes even our politicians (some). the fight for good gevernment is a MARATHON, not a 100M dash, we have to keep going, and going, and going (like the Eveready rabbit) until we reach our goal. Survive.

  24. Absolutely Jug! Winning a marathon is not all about winning the first or second leg — victory goes to those who go the distance…

juggernaut: Sang-ayon sa Act no. 3815 (Penal Laws), Art. 134, 134-A & 136: it says; Rebellion or insurrection; Coup détat; and Conspiracy and proposal to commit coup détat, rebellion or insurection.

The conspiracy and proposal to commit coup détat shall be punished by prison mayor in minimum period and a fine which shall not exceed eight thousand pesos.

The conspiracy and proposal to commit rebellion or insurrection or insurrection shall be punished respectively, by prison correcccional in its maximum period and a fine which shall not exceed five thousand pesos. and by prison correccional in its medium period and a fine not exceeding two hundred pesos.

  26. petite petite

jug/balweg: si Tabako ay West Pointer..and US trained..kaya kung malabo man damadamin niya sa Pilipinas and tainted by US idealogies…it is because he looks at the Phil. from a distance…and besides being that his family was a diplomatic family..hindi talaga niya naramdaman ang buhay Pilipino..si Goria US trained din..at kaklase pa ni Clinton..at because mayaman sila hindi siya

Integrity, Courage, Loyalty. A smart aleck pick up those words and saw it was good to emblazon a building. just like any other government offices that have those wall bumper sticker that says, No Lagayan Dito or Beware of… Those words do not necessarily reflect as those of the people in there. We must remember that no one is born that good. So all starter curricula even in the home try to teach us to be good. Look at the babies, the first words they perceive are DONTs. Dont do this, dont do that, No, No, No. Perhaps, PMA for one was not really successful in some cases. Or in all respect after all.

  37. chi chi

I don’t mind if Capt. Nick Faeldon will remain in hiding and no talk in order not to compromise his situation. I can only pray for his safety.

  38. rose rose

ito ang hindi ko maintindihan..noong araw the school children were encouraged to save their money and to deposit the money in the bank (PNB pa lang noon) to help the economy of the country..kasi magamit ang pera para pahiram sa mga businessmen sa manufacturing, etc. Ngayon ang mga mayayaman gaya nila Pidal ay sa ibang lugar dedeposit ang kanilang pera..ang nakikinabang ay ang mga lugar where their money is deposited..Hindi ba si goria ay doctor of economics…sa tingin ko dinodoktor ang economy…

    *****
This is a fallacious statement propagated by the liars who are banking on imaginary US connections to fool everybody but I understand that Clinton has already corrected this by saying that he never knew Dorobo when he was in Georgetown U. It is also impossible for him to be a classmate of Dorobo because of the two-year age difference and the fact that the Dorobo was not a regular student there according to my informant.

In fact, this is one thing that Philippine media people should check with Georgetown U. I understand a Philippine publisher in LA has a copy of a letter of denial of the allegation by the Pidals and their propagandists about his being a classmate of the Dorobo.

Frankly, I cannot understand such mentality but I know a lot many Filipinos who love to name drop even if it is not true. Di bale sana kung tunay like Rose being a cousin of Ellen. Walang masama diyan but to even claim that Clinton was her beau, susmaryosep! Lalong kahibangan na iyan!

Si Goooria, kaklase ni Clinton? For how many days?!

BTW, just bought Gorilla Glue, a super wood glue.
