Mapayapang idinaos kahapon ng iba’t-ibang grupo ng mga manggagawa, estudyante, mga miyembro ng simbahan at ng tinatawag nating “civil society” ang protest rally sa paggunita ng Edsa Dos na naglukluk kay Gloria Arroyo sa Malacañang kahit hindi binoto ng taumbayan pitong taon na ang nakaraan.
Nagsimula ang protest rally sa talakayan sa canteen ng De la Salle University sa Greenhills mga ika-apat ng hapon, tapos nag martsa patungong Edsa Shrine mga 6:30 ng gabi. Plano sana nila ay magtirik ng kandila sa Edsa Shrine mismo bilang simbolo ng pagdadalamhati ng bayan sa mapanupil na rehimen ni Arroyo ngunit hindi sila pinayagan ng mga anti-riot police na nakapaligid sa Shrine.
Doon na lang sa sidewalk itinirik ang mga kandila. Yun talaga ang totoong simbolo ng sitwasyun ngayonsa Pilipinas. Hanggang tabi-tabi na lamang ang mga mamamayan na nasa panig ng katotohanan at hustisya. Ang namamayani ay ang mga mandaraya, sinungaling at magnanakaw.
Kasama doon sa mga nagrally ay sina dating Social Services Secretary Dinky Soliman, Education Secretary Butch Abad, at Poverty Alleviation Secretary Ging Deles. Sila ang mga pasimuno noong Edsa Dos.
Nagsalita si Patsy Abad, ang anak ni Butch Abad na siyang batang babae na humawak ng bibliya noong nanumpa si Arroyo sa Edsa Shrine. Makikita yun sa dalawang daan na pera. Dalaga na si Patsy. Ipinahayag niya ang kanyang pagka-dismaya ng mga kabataang katulad niya sa nangyayari ngayon sa bansa.
Sa pag-uusap naming mga reporter, sabi naming, di ba dapat i-celebrate ni Arroyo itong petsa dahil ito ang anibersaryo ng pag-akyat niya sa Malacañang. Bakit kaya parang ikinahihiya niya at parang gusto niya kalimutan ng taumbayan?
Kung ano-anong panakot ang sinasabi para hindi na magtipon-tipon ulit ang mga taumbayan. Pinalutang pa ang kokorokoko. Ano ngayon ang masasabi ng mga alagad ni Gloria na mapayapa ang rally kahapon?
Sabi ni (In) Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez na sa Jan. 22, Martes, raw ang alam niyang may coup plot. Yun ang araw na magra-rally ang mga magsasaka para gunitain ang mendiola massacre kung saan may mga namatay na magsasaka nang sila ay mag-rally sa tapat ng Malacañang noong panahon ni Pangulong Cory Aquino.
Ang gulo-gulo nga ng kuwento ng mga alipores ni Arroyo. Rally ng mga magsasaka yung sa Jan. 22. ngunit sabi naman ni AFP Chief Hermogenes Esperon ang nagpa-plano raw ng coup ay mga Magdalo, ang grupo ni Sen. Antonio Trillanes na nakakulong ngayon sa Camp Crame.
Alam naman ng lahat na pakulo lang ni Esperon itong kokorokoko para ma-extend siya bilang chief of staff dahil dapat magre-retire na siya sa Feb. 9. Tapos ang hinuli niyang nagku-coup plot ay limang enlisted men na Scout Rangers na may hawak raw na tatlong kinakalawang baril. Ano ba yan?
Mismo ang amo ni Esperon, si Gloria Arroyo, minaliit niya ang kokorokoko na istorya ni Esperon. “Political theatrics” o palabas politika lang.

Inutil talaga! Hindi ba nahihiya ang mga ungas na ipinamamalita na iyong mga nakakulong ay nagagawa pang magplano ng coup kuno? Hindi ba nila nababatid na ito ay pag-amin ng incompetence ng mga pulis at sundalo ng Pilipinas at nagpapakita na kung magkaroon ng terrorism na gaya ng ipinanakot ni Dubya Bush sa mga kababayan niya at iba pang mga mamamayan sa mundo ay wala silang magagawa dahil kung iyong mga nakakulong na nga hindi pa nila mapigilang magbalak ng coup kung totoo nga.
But then, of course, alam naman nating gawa-gawa lang nila ang istorya nila, at ipinapakita lang nilang hindi naman talaga sila nagtatrabaho kundi naghihintay lang ng lagay na ninakaw pa sa kaban para daw matiyak ang mga loyalty nila doon sa kapareho nilang kriminal at inutil.
Para sa akin, unbelievable talaga ito. Sanay kasi kami sa efficiency, competence, etc. ng mga alagad ng batas dito. Iyong mga sundalo naman ay hindi puedeng makialam kasi in principle, hindi kami dapat magkaroon ng sandata sa bansang ito, at lalong hindi puedeng iumang ng mga sundalo ang kanilang mga armas, baril, kanyon at iba pa sa mga mamamayan ng bansang ito.
Sa Pilipinas, kung totoo man iyong ipinalalabas sa sine, e dapat diyan binabatikos ng mga mambabatas na ibinoto ng mga pilipino. Golly, kung barilin ang mga taumbayan sa mga baryo, etc. na pinagbibintangan halimbawa na mga NPA o Abu! Injustice!!! 🙁 Nasaan na iyong democracy na ipinagyayabang noong Dorobo?

Yeah, forget about Edsa II, as Malacanang drumbeaters say. Because they know deep in their hearts that Edsa III, IV or whatever number comes between now and 2010 is, by analogy, its vindictive twin. In a way, they are inseparable entities. (Randy David said something about the Edsa episodes as “twins”.)
This time around, the history of Edsa 2 will be terminated by its own twin, reluctant though it may be. That’s when it will be forgotten. Its memory dies, not by making people forget it, but by the fact that – by its rotting and evil nature – it has dug its own graveyard. Its twin has no choice but to shove Edsa 2 to the pit. I would rather that Filipinos remember the “Cry of Balintawak” when they did it on their own without US help. It’s time Filipinos do it again on their own, and with past experiences, they may finally succeed to be free even with their crude weapons as they did in WWII.
Filipinos actually were most responsibile for weakening the Japanese so that MacArthur had time gunning down those Kamikazes. But instead of giving credit where credit was due, kawawang mga pilipino, naging second-class citizen pa sa sarili nilang bansa that must have been the psychological explanation for why majority of Filipinos would want to leave the Philippines and try to salvage their pride and dignity elsewhere.

My mother did not join the Blue Ladies of Imelda because she was pissed off with the her cousin. Herman Tiu Laurel or Ka Mentong wrote a very nice column regarding Ellen Tordesillas. In his column, Ellen has admitted to be the one who helped Capt. Faeldon. Kahanga-hanga daw ang ginawa ni Ellen at ako ang isa sa napakaraming tagahanga niya na nasa panig niya simula’t sapul.
But please forgive me if I pose this question…why she first denied she was the lady reporter. Kahit na dito sa blog natin…iisang pamilya tayo pero hindi niya inamin noong una. Marami at halos lahat sa atin ay ayaw maniwala na siya. It was because she denied it. On the other hand,
I made it clear that even if she was the one, it wouldn’t erase a bit of my respect and admiration for her. At eto nga sa column ni Ka Mentong at siguro kalat na din sa media na inamin ni Ellen na siya ang female reporter. She reasoned she would never refuse to help a good man. Iyan din ang position ko. Walang problema at hindi dapat ikahiya na aminin niya na siya. Pero hindi niya inamin noong una…Anyway Ellen, nandito pa rin kami para sa iyo.

Clarification: My sincere apology to Ellen and my fellow bloggers. Ellen neither denied nor confirmed that she helped Faeldon. Here’s the first paragraph of Ka Mentong’s most recent column…At any rate, even if it is later proven that Ellen is indeed the one being alluded or accused of, it doesn’t matter. I personally would like to see that it was Ellen who did it than any other else!
“Mabuhay” to journalist Ellen Tordesilla, for upholding truth in the PNP insinuations she was the media person who aided the escape Capt. Faeldon in the Manila Pen incident. When asked by Anthony Taverna and Gerry Baja over radio if she is the journalist being implicated Ellen said, “I would not help bad people.” Which neither a denied nor confirmed the allegation, and clearly had a sharp double entendre pun: is Faeldon a good or bad guy?. Certainly, the PNP and Esperon are not identified as “good” while Faeldon and the Magdalo is seen by a vast majority as the good guys.

If there’s no legal implication, admission is not a sign of guilt. “I would not help bad people”, Ellen said. That means she is always ready to help good people…good people like Faeldon, Trillanes…

That’s farthest from my mind and the truth. Maaaring ang mga sulat ko parang pinaaamin ko si Ellen. If you only know how hurt I was since her name was being alluded to. However, outright denying it is different from neither denying or confirming. You want me to check her statements and I did. Iyan ang sinabi niya sa interview sa DZMM. Unless I see that CCTV video that the PNP and Raul Gonzalez are talking about, I doubt if a reporter indeed helped Faeldon escape.

So, hindi natin masasabi at malalaman kung sino talaga ang tumulong…isa lang ba o maraming kasamang tumulong. Even if that alleged video is produced, we must make sure it’s not spliced or fake. Many companies and hotels now install close TV circuit cameras for security reason. Everything is recorded and it can be played upon review. Kaya maaaring nakita na lang nila ang sinasabi nila the following day o after a few days when they checked on it. Pero gaya ng sinabi ko, kahit anong camera at kuha ay kayang palitan at dayain. So, kung sino man iyon ay hindi puwedeng gawing matibay na ebidensiya sa korte maliban na lang kung mapatunayang tunay ng mga neutral expert analysts.

That info was relayed to Gen. Razon who then made insinuation about ET to the media. Kaya tama ka Balweg, bakit hindi nila diretsang banggitin kung sino at ilabas ang ebidensiya para malaman ng mga tao. As it is now, even those people who are close with one another are now arguing who this lady reporter really is. Halong tumatagal, lalo lang sumasama. In fairness to all the reporters and journalists, people demand that they reveal her identity!

The longer it is, the longer all reporters are suspects. PNP must say who she or he is. Then, show the video to the public. Kung hindi, hearsay lang iyan…haka-haka. According to them, this Gunggonzales wanted to reveal the person’s name but was prevented by his colleagues, other cabinet members for fear of creating another war between the media and Malacanang.
Well, if I had the opportunity to help Kapitan Faeldon; I wouldn’t hesitate a second.
In regards to Ma’am Ellen being accuse as a conspirator for his escape, that’s just absolute bull-crap by the PNP looking for someone to blame for their stupidity. They were too busy that day nagpapakyut sa harap ng kamera. Faeldon is a well-known face around the nation, how can they possibly not see him on the spot? They had to pick a well-known journalist as a fall-guy/girl.

Balweg, there are two reasons I could think of why GMA left the country na tinaon sa Jan. 22. First, tama ka nahihiya siya dahil walang dapat ipagdiwang ang Edsa Dos. If she celebrates it, many who participated in that Edsa 2 would not attend. mag-aattend ba sina Cory, Guingona, FVR? Kung wala ang mga ito, walang silbi ang Edsa Dos celebration. At siyempre takot din sila kay Erap ngayon na nakalaya na. The second reason could be it’s a contingency plan in case there’s a coup or revolt by the people. If she’s abroad, the Vice President Noli who she trusts could take over. Then, she could remain in exile until the situation cools down. Is this true? One thing good about other governments is that they have laws that allow ordinary citizens to file for petition for investigation of ill-gotten wealth. Provide the media with evidences and let them write about it for the proper government agencies to make the investigation. We do that in Japan. Dolina said he and his men were reviewing footage from the hotel’s closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras as well as footage taken by TV news networks and were showing them to the witness.
Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez said Friday a “lady reporter created a distraction of sorts which enabled Faeldon to make his escape.”
He added that he had seen the CCTV footage showing the reporter and Faeldon.
Gonzalez said the police chose to withhold the reporter’s identity because investigators were trying to ascertain if there were other media personalities involved in the escape, not just of Faeldon but of other missing Magdalo soldiers.
very flimsy reason….if they have the evidence, arrest the reporter… If they don’t have the evidence, they should shut up!
Our government officials seem not to get their acts and even statements together. Mr. Gonzales said, it was a woman reporter then Mr. Razon would say, no,we didn’t tell the gender of the reporter.

The writ of amparo filed by some journalists against the arrests during the siege at a hotel in Makati City last November is “moot and academic,” President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s lawyer said Monday, as he allayed their fears.
Sergio Apostol said he was even wondering why the media had to file the case when the arrested journalists had been released.
my comment: this is to teach a lesson to all government officials that they cannot just do whatever they wish. Mr. Apostol, your government days are numbered. In 2010, we will elect a new set of leaders. and we will get back at you and your minions who were part of this government.
Besides, Apostol clarified that Malacañang had nothing to do with Gonzalez’s media advisory.
“Kanya lang yung [That’s only his]. The administration is not involved. You have nothing to fear,” he said.
Apostol also said that the handcuffing of journalists “will not happen again.”
Ows, talaga. Is it not that Mr. Gonzalez is an alter ego of Mrs. Arroyo? And whatever he does will reflect the wishes of Mrs. Arroyo? If it is true that the advisory was just his, then he is acting on his own? Isn’t it weird? Why don’t Mrs. Arroyo fire the guy for destabilizing her fake presidency.

No kidding but I had a friend who had undergone such operation because she was suffering from some kind of dwarfism. First she had such operation was when she was 10 years old. Maikli rin ang mga braso kaya mukhang komang like Gloria Dorobo.
10 or 15 years after she had another operation to lengthen her leg bones, and she lived a normal life until she had that final one that resulted in some complication in her liver. Biglang patay. If she removes the mole, she has to remove all her face.
