Yes, a streamer of BGen. Danny Lim. What is it doing there? I believe the place is called Plaza 15 Martires in Naga City. I know for a fact that Bgen. Lim was stationed somewhere in Bicol. I think Ragay, Camarines Sur. The Mayor then was Dr. Renato E. Aquino. BGen. Lim is well liked in that place.

  2. parasabayan parasabayan

Although his candidacy would be a welcome thing. The only thing is, we do not know yet if there will be a 2010 elections.

  3. kabute kabute

I think BGen. Lim is not campaigning. More likely he just wants to greet the Bicolanos whom he served during his stint there. Penafrancia celebration ngayon sa Naga City. A lot of devotees of the Virgin of Penafrancia or lovingly called INA (Mother) go there for a week long celebration of the Feast of the Virgin of Penafrancia. The celebration lasts from Sept. 12 to 19. Happy fiesta to all Bicolanos!

  4. jojovelas2005 jojovelas2005

I read in the article of former Sen. Maceda (tribune.net.ph) that Gen. Lim could be opposition Senatorial bet.

  5. Someone emailed to me this info:

BGEN DANNY LIM Commanded the 42nd Infantry Battalion, PA based in Bicol Region in 2000/2001. His area of responsibility covered the whole province of Camarines Sur and parts of Albay. He is well-loved and highly respected there and has many friends especially in Naga City.

  6. Gabriela Gabriela

Is Danny Lim running for senator? That’s good. We need principled people in politics. People who have proven their willingness to sacrifice for the country.

  7. chi chi

Kahit presidente pa, uuwi ako sa Pinas and physically will campaign for my favorite General Danny Lim! Sori Ping, 🙂

I think it’s not too early for the people to know that Gen. Lim will run for Senator, if true. Although, I see the streamer as just a “thank you” from the Bicolanos who love the General.

  8. chi chi

Mabuti yan at nang lalong maging passionate for our only country sina Sulbatz!

I also doubt if the current AFP will support her declaring martial law to cut corners.

  9. Al Al

Another military man in the Senate? Aren’t you worried that even our legislature is being militarized?

Aren’t there competent and honest people in the civilian sector?

  10. chi chi

Gloria’s military is different from the people’s.

  11. Tongue, I asked the staff of Sen. Lacson re your query about the P5,000 bed. He said it’s President Quirino. Both the orinola and the bed scandal did him in.

Those were the good ol’ days when the people’s moral standards were high.

  12. I’m not really worried about former military men in civilian positions because they can put to good use their organizational expertise. Much more if it’s an elected position. It’s the people who will decide anyway.

What I do not like is the situation in the executive department when it’s automatic that once you retire, you are given a civilian position sidelining many of the civilian career officers. Parang sobra na under Gloria Arroyo.

  13. bitchevil bitchevil

We welcome Gen. Lim’s plan to run as Senator as long as the Evil Bitch is out of the office after 2010. Otherwise, Lim would be like Trillanes staying in jail as Senator.

  14. bitchevil bitchevil

But in fairness to many military officials and Generals who retire, they do have impressive credentials. Some took advanced degrees abroad. Some have Master and even PHD degrees. The only Generals who are not supposed to be appointed to high civilian positions are those who took part in the election cheating…those who protected and continue to protect the Criminal in the Palace.

  15. myrna myrna

coming from a bicolana, that streamer of lim is a welcome sight, and most appropriate, especially from someone who has endeared himself to the bicolanos.

  17. Bayani Fernando must be jealous! In Naga City, for the Penafrancia celebration, the streamer of Gen.Danilo Lim is hanging in a big tree. Mass media outlets, who already seem eager — or at least their perpetual coverage of such — have taken to endlessly speculating on the potential of undeclared candidates. The Esperon “Sutil” general continues to attract attention.

Following each and every Tongressional and Senate debate featuring the dismal collection of dunces and fools assembled ,Villar would be ashamed at what has happened to his 200 insertion. A senate president who stood for strength, peace, diplomacy, courage, and bringing out the best in the country would not be able to recognize what Lacson is talking about. It is an absolute disaster. As always, the debate turned into a liberal pissing contest. Yes,Tongue Twisted most of them have a “Golden Arinola”! The best case scenario for this gaggle of depressed donkeys is for this entire sad, sorry bunch to go away.

….continuing entertainment reading on my blog….

  18. bitchevil bitchevil

Gen. Lim’s campaign manager is Bugoy. In case you don’t know who Bugoy is…he placed second in the recent PDA contest.

  19. chi:

I would prefer that B/Gen. Lim should run, not just for the Senate (AT4 has done that already), but as Vice-President to Pres. P. Lacson. Being a Commanding General of the most elite force in the AFP takes not just a bag of courage but a truckload of wits and management skills. Uncompromising loyalty to the flag, burning idealism, and resoluteness to the cause – they both have it. They believe in it.

If the two could agree on this, they could be a formidable force come 2010. And they don’t need the name ESTRADA to do that.

Gen Lim has already etched his good name into the hearts and minds of every well-meaning Filipinos who still believe that there still hope and future for the Filipinos. And that they may not have agreed to the methods being used before, but what if he’ll use the power of the ballot, not just to become a fiscalizer, but to put him right there at the doorstep of the highest office of the land.

And that’s the only way to find out if the people share his vision and passion for real meaningful change. Otherwise, Dinapinoy is right.

    Just my take.

  20. Buti pa si Charice, humahataw… world class.

    …parang korek!

‘Kala niya may makikinig sa kanya doon.

    PWEEEHHHHHH!

    KAPAL.

  21. chi chi

    SumpPit,

I’m just kidding, Ping is my man. I know that the good General respects Lacson’s wish for the presidency and perhaps doesn’t have any ambition to become VP at all. But I’d be more than pleased if the General would consider running as Ping’s VP, if asked. Magtatrabaho ako talaga. But if he decides to run for the Senate, paghihirapan ko pa rin siya, as I did for Trillanes.

  22. A friend texted me this message:

“Viva la Virgen de Peñafrancia”. Danny is a devotee of the Virgin of Peñafrancia. When Danny was a batallion commander in Camarines Sur, he often visited Ina at the basilica and always joined the traslacion incognito

  23. I believe in the enormity of the power of this blog since the day I first clicked that Submit button below, more than 3-4 years ago (in a different name).

I wrote about how I admired those who went to Oakwood one glorious evening. And look what happened to one of them.

If the likes of you Chi, among others, could send someone to the senate thru this blog, why not do it again?

Only this time, we need to aim higher.

  24. kabute kabute

I remember BGen. Lim. Met him once in the company of Mayor Aquino of Ragay, Camarines Sur and Congressman/Governor Jess Pimentel, now deceased, in Daet, Camarines Norte. I’m sure if BGen.Lim decides to run for office whether as Senator or VPresident a lot of Bicolanos will be campaigning for him. He does not even need to spend much in Bicol. Bicolanos will do the campaign spending for him. An yes Ellen, least I forget. Can you inquire from BGen. Lim if it is his family who formerly owns the Perla brand of soap? I seem to remember this was mentioned when I happen to meet him in Daet. And thanks.

Kahit saan kahit kailan. Brig. Gen. Lim is a true soldier that serve the country and We will always pray for you as well as your family. You will be honored in due time and Filipinos should be very proud because we have you as one of our dignified and brave soldier. Long Live hero of the Philippines!!!

  26. Danny Lim:
Sa Bicol, Peñafrancia, sa Aguinaldo, Fri-nameup siya.

  27. norpil norpil

i wonder if any gmas generals are aiming to be candidates, people like esperon must show courage which he was not able to show in the battlefields by entering the political battlefield. maybe some of them can win at least as kapitan del barrios, but from generals to kapitans?

  28. chi chi

    SumpPit, we can do it…

    Ellen, thanks for that info.

Norpil, loony Gloria’s general Angie Reyes would very much like to succeed her.

  30. chi chi

norpil, si Ass(pweron) yun. Binato ng itlog which was symbolic of his balls being owned by gloria and gloria alone.

  31. kabute kabute

Ellen, my apologies for using your blog to write to BGen. Danny Lim.

    BGen. Danny Lim, Sir,

You may not remember me, but we’ve met once in Daet, Camarines Norte in the company of Mayor Renato Aquino of Ragay, Camarines Sur and Congressman and former Governor Jess Pimentel (now deceased) of Camarines Norte. I cannot recall the exact date but it was an informal get together of friends or friends to be. Mayor Aquino and Cong. Pimentel being both the ninong sa binyag of my youngest son.

    That being said, the reason I’m writing you is to pose a few questions;

    1. Do you plan to run for national public office, say for Senator?
    2. If YES, and when elected, will you pursue the fight against graft and corruption by investigating and prosecuting those in government today who may be found to have committed such graft and corruption?
    3. If NO, will you consider running for national public office as senator?

You may say its too early think about such. But time is of the essence. The earlier we know, then we can mobilize our meager resources for a protracted campaign. I’m certain that a lot of people in Ellen’s blog will support your campaign if ever you decide to run for public office.

My handle here in Ellen’s blog is “kabute” (mushroom).

    Thanks.

  32. Gabriela Gabriela

Kabute pwede rin, the earlier we know, the earlier we knock you out.

  33. Sorry, off-topic. Erwin Tulfo and his publishers and tabloid owner Pichay’s guilty verdict was affirmed by the SC. The P1Million damage was upheld but the prison term was removed.

Is this a preview of more libel convictions to come? Check out the justices who decided in favor of the aggrieved customs collector. Also look at the precedent-setting arguments. Kumbaga sa billiards, preparasyon?

  34. bitchevil bitchevil

Recently, it was Macasaet…now it’s Tulfo and company. Journalists critical of the government, watch out !

  35. rose rose

    Ellen: mag andam kaw gid!

  36. kabute kabute

Gabriela, how true. But better we know early if we can stand the heat and survive. Lim.

  37. kabute kabute

TonGue and rose, libel is the new business being pushed by the justices. At the same time it will silence the critics of this administration as well as the courts. It is becoming scary, these justice system of ours. It makes rulings that contravene constitutional guarantees of free expression by making contorted justifications. It will make paupers of legitimate critics and opposition. We may wake-up one day and be ourselves a victim of mass libel in this blog. So rose, the seeds of fear is now sown. This may soften up the rather radical kind of expression we exercise here in Ellen’s blog.
