Another flip-flop: Arroyo will push through with US trip

From GMNANews online:

Two weeks after announcing the cancellation of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s trip to the United States later this month, Malacañang on Wednesday confirmed that the US trip will push through after all.

In an interview, Press Secretary Jesus Dureza said Arroyo will leave for the US to address the United Nations Millenium Development Goals review on September 23. In the review, the Philippines is expected to report its compliance to the eight international development objectives.

Dureza said President Arroyo will also hold bilateral meetings in New York and meet with the Organization of Islamic Conference to express her gratitude for its support for the peace process in Mindanao.

He also said President Arroyo will also relay to the OIC her government’s new peace strategy, following the stalling of talks with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

The Philippines will also take part a special ministerial meeting with the Non-Aligned Movement on inter-faith dialogue.

As part of her US visit, President Arroyo will also campaign for Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago’s candidacy to the International Court of Justice.

Two weeks ago, Dureza announced that President Arroyo’s US trip will not push through, but did not cite reasons for the cancellation.

In the interview, Dureza said decision to push through with the US trip was made following recommendations from both Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo and Philippine representative to the UN Hilario Davide Jr.

Aside from attending the UN MGD Review, President Arroyo’s original schedule for her US visit state that she was supposed to meet with the Filipino community and some businessmen in Seattle, address the Clinton Global Initiative which would hold its Fourth Annual Meeting on September 23 to 26 in New York City.

President Arroyo was a member of the panel members in the 7th CGI Annual meeting in 2007 that was organized by former US president Bill Clinton. – GMANews.TV

It’s her last card. The trip is urgent. It can mean her survival or inevitable ouster. Uncle Sam is losing patience on her. Uncle Sam is about to dump her like what he did to Marcos and Erap. She is going there to beg. When she returns and remains as strong as she is right now, you bet lots of concessions were made. God…Please have mercy on the Philippines!

Malungkot! Who is she going to campaign for US Presidebt? Bill Clinton (her classmate and friend) roots for Obama at I am sure doon siya sasama…God Save the Phil.!

She has to beg for her survival! You are absolutely right BE!

US aid, ano pa?

None in America cares!–Gloria Macapagal Arroyo,Who?

The cold hug of Bush towards her is a resounding loss may well signal the beginning of the end for her evil regime,it is becoming clear that she gave the least amount of attention to the people who most matter.

This time around Bush will not read to Gloria a fairy tales on her bed about her Filipina chef.Bush will narrate a long story about Sarah Palin; her expertise in handling shotgun and hunt deer,a Christian and Pro-Life.A generous woman who gave oil rebates to every Eskimos. She invested $5 billion in state savings,—While Arroyo’s Department of Agriculture were giving fake fertilizers, rotten seeds to farmers and building bridges to nowhere.

The tide of American sentiment now beginning to ebb away from Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Americans are not illiterate, they know and more worried about the Filipinos in regards to crime, inflation, employment and other considerations that affect their personal security, and their ability to put food on the table and pay the bills.

What will the pandak talk about again? Ano na naman ang ipagmamayabang niya? Na ang employment figures niya ay tumaas? She will lie through her teeth again and again!

Uncle Sam watches all her moves. So no matter how she projects herself as a good president, the US knows that she is a stealing, lying and killing bitch! Nine years of corruption in all agencies of the government has virtually destroyed the Philippines. Isinusuka na siya ni Uncle Sam kaya ngayon may “urgency” siya to go to the US para magpabango kay Bush (what good will it do eh mapapalitan na naman si Bush?) o sa incoming US president. Oobra kaya?

  11. Diego K. Guerrero Diego K. Guerrero

Panibagong sip-sip buto uli.

Almost if not all of gloria’s travel overseas are junkets in the guise of being official business. Actually they are junkets with private business behind the scene such as those of the NBN-ZTE deal, defensor’s mining deal, visiting her investments and private properties, and making more deals at the expense of taxpayers money. And when she returns from her junkets her barkers (dureza, golez, fajardo, ermita, bunye, etc) sing paeans extolling the achievements of her travels. Napaka-suwerte nila. Tayo ang pumapasan ng gastos. What deals are they going to make this time? We may never know. Walang konsensya ang mga ito.

From your mouth to God’s ears Diego. Magdilang anghel ka sana. Anything that will make the evil bitch disappear is considered a miracle!

  14. Who does the bitch think she is? Nobody is inviting her, not even with her false credentials as an economics expert. Nobody is asking the idiot for her opinion that she definitely thinks she is an expert to give to the presently economically troubled Americans.

The truth: Gloria desperately wants to hobnob with Sarah Palin, the ‘shooting’ star of the Republican’ in the halls of the UN. McCain will introduce her to world leaders in the course of the events there!

Of course, Gloria is all eyes and ears as to the current polls and she wants to be ahead of everybody when the Reps takes the White House, just in case.

    Very Gloria!

  18. chi chi

Gloria owns a very sharp tililing!

I heard the Evil Bitch was invited by Sarah Palin for some political and economic advice. Palin especially wants to learn how to stay in power for several years despite being very unpopular.

    Tongue,

Korek if if I’m wrong.

O baka kaya bumagsak ang US financial sector ay nailipat na ni Pidal sa ibang bansa ang nakaw na yaman nila away from the US. heheh!

Kanino siya hihingi ng tulong?..malaki ang problema ng US gov’t sa AIG and Lehman Bros..AIG I am quite sure has investments in the Phil..in the insurance industry we have what we call reinsurance…ang mga malalaking insurance on catastrophes, etc. are reinsured with other insurance companies not only in Lloyds, Swiss Re, Munich Re, etc. but also with AIG..AIG has the Translantic Reinsurance Co. Kahit anong sabihin niya na RP could survive and (will survive?). Baka naman pauutangin niya ang US..or kaya mag donate siya sa campaign funds..ni Obama? (who raised 66 millions in Aug..McCain campaigns for change in the political corruption of the gov’t..Or could it be too that she has investments in the US kaya takot rin siya na mawala ang investments niya? kawawang bata..maglupasay na lang siya sa harap ng kaibigan niya..hindi pa magkaklase sila?

..tumawag sa akin kahapon ang dati kong boss sa FGU-Insurance Grp. na nandito..He was VP then and became the top guy of the FGU Insurance Co. I asked him about the adm. of GMA who he defends to high heavens..ang sabi niya malaki rin daw ang kasalanan ni JDV..so I asked him was JDV not a student of yours at De La Salle? Before joining FGU, he taught at De La Salle..What did you teach your students at DLS? Alam kong math..one plus one equals ten? His response to me was ” Bulilit I will talk to you when I see you in NJ”.

  24. BE: I heard the Evil Bitch was invited by Sarah Palin for some political and economic advice.

I don’t think so. Not Palin asking a little brown girl for an opinion on how to run her campaign. I would believe the news if it says she has asked Maggie Thatcher for an advice especially with Gloria’s reputation.

  25. Rose: Alam kong math..one plus one equals ten?

Wrong Rose. 1+1=11! 🙂

Very ang truth na sinabi, chi. Gloria does not get any attention from kings and princes and prime ministers, so she invites herself to hobnob with them, even at the cost of peoples money. Gloria is very KSP (kulang sa pansin) ang TH (trying hard) to be what she is not. Very interesting also ang connection to Cayman Islands!!

  27. chi chi

    Laski,

Talaga naman, di ba? Gloria will order her sekyus to post themselves in all corners of the UN building and alert her once Palin breeze the halls of the UN. Aabangan baga! hahahaha!!!

HOWELL, Mich. (Sept. 17) – The U.S. Secret Service is investigating two letters threatening Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.
Douglas Zloto, resident agent in charge of the federal agency’s Saginaw office, said authorities are trying to determine the nature and extent of the threats. One letter was sent to the Livingston County Democratic Party and another to a local business.

The Secret Service takes every threat extremely seriously,” Zloto told The Ann Arbor News. “We will be using every resource to investigate this threat … and to determine how it was made.”

The letter sent to the party office reportedly expresses a wish that Obama “gets a bullet.” The second to the unidentified Howell business owner includes racial slurs — preceded by a warning that the owner should “think hard about who you are trying to elect.”

Michigan State Police said they are investigating racial slurs spray-painted on an Obama campaign billboard along U.S. 23 near Ann Arbor. Officers believe the graffiti, which includes swastikas and Ku Klux Klan symbols, were painted late Tuesday or early Wednesday.

Obama state campaign spokesman Brent Colburn said he believed it was the first large-scale act of vandalism on Obama campaign material to include such slurs in Michigan.
“Whoever did it should be embarrassed and ashamed, but unfortunately, (racism) is a reality in our world,” he said. “It in no way is a reflection of the reception we’ve gotten in the Ann Arbor area, or anywhere in Michigan.”

….I wish the Evil Bitch gets three bullets when she arrives in US. Let the Presidential Security Group investigate it.

The only Filipino who sat in the ICJ was CJ Cesar Bengzon. He was undersecretary of justice in the governor-generalship of Frank Murphy (later SC justice – one of the liberal four comprised of Hugo Black, William Douglas and Wiley Rutledge). Bengzon later served for nine years in the Court of Appeals, and twenty two years in the Supreme Court, six as Chief Justice. He was appointed after his retirement in the SC.

A candidate who did not make it was JBL Reyes, one of two Filipinos rated as outstanding civilists (civil law) in Spain (the other must have been Turing Tolentino). The other candidate was Claro Mayo Recto.

Bengzon, aside from his unquestioned credentials, must have gotten the nod of the US, because he was noticed while serving the US government (colonial gov).

Ihahanay mo sa tatlong ito si Alona? The woman who was the laughing stock of practitioners in the RTC, under a Macoy appointment? And you expect to get a confirmatory vote?

Is the Filipino still worth fighting or dying for?

2008 will go into history as the worst year for the Philippines when it comes to corruption. From the executive branch, we had the ZTE-NBN bribe attempt… then there’s the scandal of the Comprehensive Land Reform Program (CARP) that triggered the shortage of rice and other food commodities. Just this week, government auditors uncovered another P218.7-million rice scam by the Department of Agriculture (DA) and I’m sure that there is more into this.

Then there’s that infamous Court of Appeals (CA) attempted bribery scandal that caused the dismissal of Justice Vicente Roxas for writing a decision favoring the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), the suspension of whistle-blower Justice Jose Sabio Jr. and the reprimand of Justices Bienvenido Reyes and Presiding Justice Conrado Vasquez by the Supreme Court. As if on cue, the justices of the Court of Appeals suddenly forged a “covenant” to show their commitment to restoring public trust and faith in the judiciary. Call it the ultimate in sipsip or the greatest “motherhood statement” from the CA, but we want action, not talk!

To restore the confidence of the Filipino people, the Supreme Court must weed out all the misfits in the entire judiciary, not just in the CA. I suggest that they create a committee to look into bank accounts (without necessarily publicizing them) and remove the suspicious judges from the roster. It’s common knowledge that there is somebody in the Cebu-based CA who has long been rumored to be on the take, yet no action has been taken against this person. If the SC truly wants reforms in the judiciary, now is the right time to crack the whip!

Finally, the corruption scandal has hit the Senate floor when the Commission on Audit (COA) uncovered some P4 billion in “insertions.” We would be accused of naiveté if we didn’t have any hint that this exposé by Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson against Senate President Manuel “Manny” Villar wasn’t the first salvo fired to start the 2010 presidential race.

Sen. Lacson questioned Sen. Villar over the alleged budget insertion for the funding of the C-5 Road Extension Project in the 2008 national budget. Call this the Senate scam! In the past, Sen. Lacson would come up with some kind of harebrained scam, often a figment of his imagination. But this time, he seems to be right on the money; after all figures do not lie!

Of course, Sen. Villar and his cohorts vehemently deny this accusation, saying this was not for one, but two flyovers on the same road. Hopefully someday, the truth will surface. However, as Senate President, Sen. Villar presided over the approval of the 2008 national budget and if it’s true that there was indeed an insertion, the least we can expect from him is to resign as Senate President. But this is the Philippines where no one resigns, but clings to power. Shame on those who cling to power! Today, let me just say that I’m no longer proud to be a Filipino. That’s the truth!
