Gibo promises to continue Arroyo’s “success”

Saying that the administration of Gloria Arroyo has “undeniably been successful” in fighting poverty, Lakas-Kampi-CMD presidential candidate Gilbert Teodoro, former defense secretary, vowed to continue the programs of Arroyo if he is elected president.

He assured the people that he will address the four faces of poverty: poverty of the mind, poverty of the pocket, poverty of the environment, and poverty of relationships.

Teodoro and actor Edu Manzano, former chairman of the Optical Media Board, were proclaimed as Lakas-Kampi-CMD presidential and vice-presidential candidates, respectively, in the administration party’s national convention this morning held at the Philippine International Convention Center.

Gilbert Teodoro acceptance speech

He said in confronting the poverty of the mind, “ We shall endeavor to raise our economy to a higher level of productivity and prosperity continuing what is being done by our government today and undeniably, it has been a success. “

Teodoro said his campaign will be founded, not on criticism, but on performance.

“I was told it’s hard to campaign. It’s true because the easiest way to campaign is to criticize. But we will not criticize. We will campaign while continuing to perform day in and day out for our people,” he said.
Manzano on the other hand lamented his detractors’ belittling of him because he of his showbusiness background.

“My friends, after the announcement that I’ve accepted the nomination to be the running mate of Secretary Gibo (Gilbert) Teodoro, may mga nagtaas ng mga kilay at nagsabing wala po akong ‘K’ kasi ako daw ay isa lamang aktor at entertainment personality.”

“They (critics) conveniently close their eyes and minds to the fact that I have had training and experience in the military. I have worked in banking, in shipping, and hotel industries before entering the field of entertainment and the political arena,” he said.

“But beyond that… I also offer my honest labor, my personal integrity and dedication to duty fortified by my experience in local governance and law enforcement,” Manzano added.

Speaking in Tagalog towards the end of his speech, Teodoro said a vote for himself Manzano would be a vote of confidence in their capability to deliver on their promises. “I promise that hindi kayo mabibigo!” he said.

In turning over the leadership of Lakas-Kampi-CMD to Teodoro, Gloria Arroyo said, boasted despite the reported defections in rcent days to Nactionalista party and Liberal Party, Lakas-Kampi-CMD is still the “dominant party of our generation.”

“Our party has been the largest political party for 15 of the last 17 years. Seventy-two percent of the country’s elected leaders are part of us. Think of it, almost 3 out of 4 elected leaders are party members. This overwhelming majority confirms that our party is the true party of the people,” she said.

Last Wednesday, Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita , party president, released the seven who will be in their senatorial ticket. They are: reelectionist senators and actors Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and Manuel “Lito” Lapid, secretary to the Cabinet Silvestre Bello III, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, radio anchor Reynante “Rey” Langit, businessman Jesus Arranza who is president of the Federation of Philippine Industries, and Ramon Guico Jr., mayor of Binalonan in Pangasinan and president of the League of Municipalities.

Ermita said the party is considering Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, whom he described as “competent, useful, and very…valuable political leaders” to be their guest candidates. Enrile is mentioned to be with former President Joseph Estrada while Snatiago is included in the ticket of NP’s Manny Villar.

Ermita also said there might still be changes in lineup because Duque might opt not to run. Bello had earlier been reported to be considering running for congressman of Cagayan.

They are also considering as senatorial candidates Bayani Fernando, MMDA chairman, and former Public Works Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane who are eyeing the presidency, in case they change their minds.

He said in confronting the poverty of the mind, “ We shall endeavor to raise our economy to a higher level of productivity and prosperity continuing what is being done by our government today and undeniably, it has been a success”.

    Hahahaha…
    What success?

  3. We cannot afford 6 more years of FAILED GMA Policies (“Why reinvent the wheel?” GIBO)

    We need HONEST, INCORRUPTIBLE Government.

We need THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE OF GLORIA ARROYO IN 2010!

    Did not access Gibo’s speech.

If I did, parang si goyang na rin ang binasa ko.

Puro kasinungalingan.

A male version of Gloria. High falutin sinungalings and double speaks. He can kiss Gloria’s ass till he’s blue in the face. I’d like to see him do more of that really.

  6. Phil Cruz Phil Cruz

Hillary did a little bit of Kissing Ass when she visited. She said this administration did fairly well where the economy is concerned. That’s where she lost points in my book.

She did not know or wasn’t thoroughly briefed by Kenny and company.

The economy’s growth is mostly due to the OFW’s blood, sweat and tears, because Gloria couldn’t provide work for them here.

And most of the wealth and taxes the government itself generated has not been trickling down sufficiently to the masses. It has flowed up into hers, Mike’s and her cronies’ over-sized pockets.

  7. MPRivera MPRivera

    Phil,

….most of the wealth and taxes the government itself generated has not been trickling down sufficiently to the masses?

I beg to disagree, my friend.

goyang’s administration may be giving away relief but did not come from her government but from donations all over the world.

They don’t want to share even a loose peso change.

Very bland.

Sa dami ni isinulat sa itaas, isa sa nakatawag ng aking pansin ay : Teodoro said his campaign will be founded, not on criticism, but on performance. Hindi nya yata napanood yung kanyang infomercial.

  9. Mike Mike

Phil, Hillary is just being polite to her host. I’m sure she knows a lot of things about Gloria that we already knew and some that we don’t yet know.

  10. What is the current Poverty Statistic for the Philippines? Isn’t it that three out of 10 Filipinos are surviving on less than a dollar a day?

  11. “undeniably been successful” in fighting poverty,

    Absolutely agree!

Gloria has undeniably been successful in fighting poverty so that proceeds from her “fighting poverty programs” enabled her to steal billions from state coffers, squandered treasury money, used the money she stole to ensure that corrupt govt officials got their share of the loot, ensured that her children were able to buy properties in other countries, enabled her and her piggy husband to have a lifestyle of power and greed beyond their imagination all in the name of fighting poverty.

Sonofafucking gun! This Gibo is proving as mentally, morally, physically warped and corrosive as his patroness if not more!

But who the hell does this creature think he is to even begin to believe that he can fool people!

  12. Poverty is Pilipinas, and GMA’s gift to Pilipinas is that three out of ten Pinoys now live on less than a dollar a day.

It used to be four out of ten Pinoys, with Erap.

  13. Yet if you really look at whats happening in Philippine politics, Gibo seems to be the only intelligent choice. All the opposition can come up with are meaningless motherhood statements, there are no workable platforms offered. Contrast that to the infrastructure roadmap, welfare, etc. that the current administration already has in place just waiting for someone with the political will to implement them seriously.
There are clear cut objectives, mechanisms on how to meet them, and budgets…what will the leader from the divided opposition do…start from scratch, or scratch his head?
If you really look at the political scenario from an objective point of view, no one can really claim INTEGRITY anymore…everyone has compromised for the sake of increasing their chances of winning, for funds (a less vulgar word for money). Looks to me like more of the same…its looking more and more like choosing between the devil you know or the devil you don’t know…
Fortunately I won’t be around during elections, but whatever happens, I’m still proud to be a Filipino, and I’m glad to witness another chapter of history in the making…

Yaks…anong success yon? Bigla akong kinilabutan ah!

Based on Webster online dictionary ito ang ibig sabihin:-

    Etymology: Latin successus, from succedere
    Date: 1537

2 a : degree or measure of succeeding b : favorable or desired outcome; also : the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence
    3 : one that succeeds

    a) degree or measure of succceeding – means, successful coup d’état thru EDSA DOS.

    b) favorable or desire outcome – means, hokus-pokus Hello-Garci.

    c) the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence – means, millions of Pinoys e kumakalam ang sikmura coz’ ang daming projects na pinagponduhan ng trilyong pesos like Diosdado Macapagal Blvd and many more.

d)one that succeeds – means, his Bosing succeded to become President kuno Not ONCE, but TWICE and probably mag thrice ito thru automated dagdad ng dagdag or else NO EL kasi nga sabutahihin at mag shotdown ang NAPOCOR tapos ang issue panalo na naman sila?

  16. jawo jawo

For somebody who is considered smart just because he is a graduate of Harvard (Cubao ?), Gibo Teodoro is a damn schmuck with an IQ even less than zero. The poor bastard still doesn’t get it. “You and your tandem will NEVER win the elections” ———except of course the same cheating machinery will win it for you just like your pathetic lying, cheating, stealing patroness did in 2004. If that is Gibo’s line of campaign, Edu shoudl quit now and not be a part of a losing party of fools.

  17. chi chi

Was Gibo just patronizing/kissing Gloria’s butt or a plain Harvardian idjit?!

He refused to see what Pinas has become under his putang amo, another remnant of the Dark Ages he truly is, nababalutan lang ng modernong kasuotan.

“Galing at Talino” in disguise. What good is his galing at talino if he has a mind fixated on Gloria’s drawings of accomplishments?

No wonder 40% of the PALAKA already left his sinking ship, mas magaling at mas matalino ang mga palakang ito kesa kay Gibo.

  18. Chi,

I’m sure part of Teodoro’s acceptance act is butt-kissing not because he likes Gloria’s big unsightly butt but because he wants to make sure that Gloria and her alipores will do everything and ANYTHING, i.e., election cheating, to make him win.

I don’t have any doubt that Gibo’s chance of winning a fair and clean election in this country is next to NIL…

If Teodoro comes anywhere near election victory next May, I will not believe it even if the one who announces such potential innanity swears on his mother’s head or uses the Bible to swear (lalo ng hindi ako maniniwala)…

  19. Oblak Oblak

Nani Perez was interviewed during the convention. According to him, the economy is on an upswing and in order to maintain it, there must continuity in the leadership. (to this effect)
Buhay pa pala si Nani! Naglalabasan na ang mga operators.

Sa tanong mo Madam Chit, if I were Teodoro I would rather be a plain idiot than kiss GMA’s butt.

  20. Teodoro vowed: “We will address the four faces of poverty: poverty of the mind, poverty of the pocket, poverty of the environment, and poverty of relationship.”

Gago talaga ang taong ito… why WILL address??? (future tense) why didn’t he do it while he was servant to Gloria?

For starters, as DND chief, he had the role of overseeing the welfare of a small fraction of the national population meaning the soldiers serving in the AFP and their dependents.

He couldn’t do it then so what makes him think that he can tackle it if he is given an iota of chance to replace blood-sucking Gloria?

“Poverty of the pocket”: Why is it that most foot soldiers and their dependents are still in dire financial straits and are grossly impoverished? Why is it that many foot soldiers are still neglected, they don’t have shoes, gear, etc.? Why is it that in terms of health care, these soldiers are wanting?

On “poverty of the mind:” Why is it that dependents of these soldiers, particularly their children are finding it difficult to access higher education?

Poverty of the environment: He had the resources, the power, the opportunity to prove that he could act during crisis but he failed lamentably. He was chief of the Natl Disaster Coordinating Council but he was UNABLE to do the most basic step to ensure that disaster on the environment created by the catastrophic stroms were immediately solved. He was so totally unprepared for these typhoons he couldn’t even react properly. What makes him think he won’t continue to be a weakling, that he has the intellect to prepare, a short, mid-long term plan to safeguard the environment?

“Poverty of relationship?” What the fuck does he mean by that? Teodoro, you big fart, will you kindly translate what you mean by that?

  21. He couldn’t do it then, i.e., oversee the welfare of some 100,000 foot soldiers and their dependents which is a very very minute fraction of the nation’s population, so what makes him think that he can tackle it, oversee the welfare of tens of millions of impoverished Pinoys if he is given an iota of chance to replace blood-sucking Gloria?

But who the hell does this old fart think he is to even begin to believe that he can fool people?

Kung gusto niyang magyabang, sige, magyabang siya sa kubeta niya sa bahay niya but not publicly. I can’t stand people making pronouncements that they obviously do not understand or do not mean.

Nani Perez? Buhay pa pala ‘yan? Di ba sabi nila noon ay may kanser daw?

Galing at Talino. Galing at Talino. That’s his slogan (to describe himself).

Ang galing at talino ng mga Pinoy. They put Gibo at the very bottom of the presidential survey list.

  26. Phil Cruz Phil Cruz

TV Patrol news this evening said it was Gibo’s wife who convinced her husband Gibo to take in Edu Manzano as her VP. Really? We’re glad to be getting to know you more, Madame.

  27. Ano daw MPR? economy is on an upswing daw? Saan namang bibliya niya nakuha iyang kasinungalingan nayan?

We all know that in terms of statistics, madaling doctorin ang mga numbers to impress those they need to impress.

The reality on the ground is very different and a totally different story.

  28. MPR,

Tried to dig into the recesses of my small and getting old brain, pero, talagang hindi na ka register eh… 🙂

    De nada, Ms. Brux.

Nakalimutan ko yung “be” na dapat “there must be”.

Si Nani at GMA pa, they lie and lay together.

  31. Magno,

“Pati ‘yung katulad nina Nani Perez, Edong Ermita, Leandro Mendoza, at itong huli, mag-asawang Ralph at Vilma, hindi mo na alam?”

Remember ko pa rin si bigoteng Nani Perez na magnanakaw at sinungaling, si Edong Ermita of course remember ko iyan (di ko na kinakausap nga eh, galit na ako sa kanya, si pu… Leandro Mendoza na duwag at si Ralph Recto of course, puwede bang malimutan yan?

I was introduced to Recto the when he was first termer in Congress at a night club where they have ballroom dancing without the company of his actress wife, the second time naman at a meeting with Edong Ermita. He didn’t make an impression on me — buti pa si Conrad Estrella, fellow first termer niya may character pero itong si Recto, sabi ko nga kay Edong, mukhang bland…

(Magno, eto may anecdote OT): I don’t dance pero whenever I used to visit Manila, iyong mga kaibigan kong girls, new and old matrons ba and even the young ones lalo na si Tessie Aquino, lagi akong dina-drag sa mga ballroom dancing clubs nila kahit hindi ako nag dance; first time I was dragged doon sa isang night club ballroom dancing daw, puro girls kami, maybe 10 or 12 kami, bigla kaming tinabihan sa table ng two or three young men or even more at beso beso iyong mga friends ko sa kanila, tapos, nagsayaw iyong isang matron na kasama namin with one of the young men. And instant reaction ko, who the hell are these young men? Shocked ako, akalo ko mga gigolo ang mga pobre and that my friends had lined up call boys for me — 🙂 🙂 🙂 I didn’t mince words and I told one of the girls in the group na hindi ko kailangan and absolutely didn’t want ang call boy — I didn’t know they were called dancing instructors… 🙂

Pero si Vilma, di naman Batanguena iyan ah and I never saw any of her films either so saling pusa lang siya sa usapan…

  32. Magno,

“Ay, sa atin sa Batangas ay ang mga iyan ay masahol pa sa double blade, eh.”

Nakalimutan ko na rin ang tawag natin sa doble blade ah…

Masahol talaga pa sila dahil mga duwag. Nakakhiya silang masabing Batangueno.

  33. Harvard, daw? E walang laman din ang utak niyan. Bakit ko nasabi?

Oblak, that’s what I thought so too… that The Tree acted as broker or matchmaker. Pero siguro si Mrs. Gibo ang mas may “say” to the arranged marriage? I hear she’s pretty much in the groove of things.

  36. “Kailangan mabilis kumilos, hindi teka-teka.”

Talagang sinabi niya iyan? Whaaaat?

First thing he did that I read in the papers ay nuong magmakaawa siya sa ibang bansa humihingi ng tulong.

Pipirmahan na nga lang ang order for rubber boats, ang bagal pa niya, so sino ang lolokohin niya?

  37. Anyway, if he said, hindi teka-teka, siguro he was making parinig kay Edong Ermita na pamangkin ni original teka-teka na si Rene de Villa… 🙂

  38. ooops, no pala, uncle in law ni original teka-teka na si Rene de Villa… 🙂 (the legitimate wife of Edong is the auntie of the deceased wife of Rene de Villa)

  46. Tongue,

Yep, Si Edong ang Undersec ni RdV before he ran for Congress. Si Edong was replaced by Feliciano Gacis na ubod ng teka teka. That was the time of the Teka Teka Group sa DND… talagang puro teka teka.

Pero to be fair si Edong hindi teka teka siya, kaya nga lumayas sa DND and ran for Congress and kaya nga he seized the opportunity to be servant to Gloria body and soul (his campaign platform was based on his tapang daw for having been a Vietnam veteran… hahahahah! Not once did he see action in Vietnam. Not once!!! Magkasama sila ni FVR who was the commander of the small RP contingent, Rene de Villa, at Boy Abadia.)

Bwahahaha!

yep, and i’m sure picking edu manzano as his VP is integral to him continuing Arroyo’s “success” (?). although i must admit, GMA was pretty successful at enriching herself.

i wonder how edu feels given that he was obviously the only one in the list of potential running mates of Gibo who agreed to try his luck as Gibo’s vp? to think that he was already guaranteed a slot in LP as one of their senatoriables. mahirap talaga pag balimbing. tsk, tsk..

  51. chi chi

Getsing ko na tongue. Poverty of relationship nga naman.

“Siguro naging bar topnotcher dahil mahusay mag memorise — but doesn’t mean na matalino siya, or at the very best may autistic talent siya.”

    Malamang ganun nga, Anna.

Gibo didn’t say anything sensible in his PALAKA’s maiden speech. The points he made were all incomprehensible to the ordinary pinoys.

Poverty of the mind – mahirap kang kausap. Sabi nga ni Mikhail Tal (chess), simplify, simplify.

Poverty of relationship – walang suporta galing sa kamag-anak (Danding).

Poverty of the environment – walang matalino sa kapaligiran niya (Remonde, RaulGon, etc.).

Poverty of the pocket – in fairness, wala pang issue tungkol sa tongpats ni Gibo.

But of course! There is nobody to criticize but Gloria herself. But Will Gibo do it ? NOOOOOOOOT !! Gawin niya iyan eh di wala siyang gagastusin sa kaniyang kandidatura.

Performance ? What performance is he talking about ? Since Gloria never performed anything to the betterment of the Pinoy, then Gibo is bound to do the same thing…..NOTHING !!

Pity this poor chap, Gibo Teodoro.

Pareho pala tayo. Ano ba ang madalas mong inumin ?

Sa ganda ng curiculum vitae mo with nothing to show, I suggest you get a full refund of what you spent in those schools you went to. It doesn’t do you justice.

  55. Bar topnocher ka rin ba? Pareho pala tayo. Ano ba ang madalas mong inumin ?

    Hahahaha!

  56. chi chi

I agree with Jug, si Gibo may talinong nasasabi and he can be a good leader lalo na kung titignan mo nga naman ang mga kalaban niya.

Bottom line is unless the boobuwit’s camp cheats again, Gibo will not win!

    From 2% to 4%!

Tapos hahati pa si Bayani at Ebdane.

  59. parasabayan parasabayan

Let us not underestimate the power of the Mafia gang though. With the billions of looted money flowing to their constituents, mama boobuwit can make the Gibo win. Remember that Garci, Bedol and their gang are very much in business! And Ebdame? Si Ebdame supervisor yan ni boobuwit in the guise of being a candidate. Meron nga naman siyang rason na magiikot para kunyari eh babantayan niya yung kanyang .ooooo1% na boto but in reality, niluluto na naman niya yung votes ni Gibo! Money will be flowing. The voters should be wiser this time. Kunin ang pera, iboto ang iba. Yung sa palagay nila ay may ibubuga!

  60. PSB,

Right on! That’s why every progressive Pinoy must be on their toes and keep on attacking this bonehead. No quarter!!!

  61. Asbolutely PSb! As you say, The voters should be wiser this time. Kunin ang pera, iboto ang iba.

  62. lupit nyo hahaha wala na akong masabi! pinakyaw nyo na haha

i love this: Kunin ang pera, iboto ang iba. hehe

  63. perl perl

Gibo promises to continue Arroyo’s “success”
what success? meron ba? wala kong makita eh…

    Talaga naman.

Kahit lugmok na tayo sa paghihinagpis dahil sa kabikabilang sarswelang nagaganap sa bawat partido ay hindi nawawala ang ating sense of tumor, eh, este sense of humor pala.

Kaya lalo akong naniniwala sa kasabihang “medicine is the best laughter to away the while and illness the social cure”.

    He he he heeh.

    ‘Anlulupits ninyo!

  66. MPRivera MPRivera

    jawo,

    Kosa pala tayo, ah!

    Hik!

Weyter, bigyan mo pa kami ng isang platitong beer at dalawang kahong mane!

    Hik!

  67. MPRivera MPRivera

(Magkasama sila ni FVR who was the commander of the small RP contingent, Rene de Villa, at Boy Abadia.)

PHILCAV. ‘Yang ang Philippine contingent na ipanadala sa Vietnam.

Mga tagapasan ng engineering equipment ng mga Kano. Taga-guwardiya ng kampo ng mga Kano. Taga takbo kung ano ang gustong ipabili ng mga Kano.

    Galing namang accomplishments ‘yan!

And to think they all tried to boast of their heroic exploits in VietNam?

  68. saxnviolins saxnviolins

    Continue the success of Goyang:

    stole the presidency

    raided the Treasury

    sold the National Patrimony

    coddled the MILF/Abu Sayyaf

    at marami pang iba.

  69. chi chi

Huh, kargador ng kano…”And to think they all tried to boast of their heroic exploits in VietNam?”

    Salamat sa inyong mga revelation.

accountant o abugado o inhinyero pag takbong OFW

  72. MPRivera MPRivera

    Chi,

  73. chi chi

    MPR and atty sax,

Kailangan ko na magbasa sa gera na ito (thanks for the link) naiiwan ako sa pansitan. ‘kala ko e movie lang talaga ang “Killing Fields” and was exagerated.

  74. MPRivera MPRivera

gloria’s success na gustong ipagpatuloy ni Bigo ay ‘yung success of compromising the national interest to attain her personal goal – long lasting stay in power and magkamal ng limpak limpak na salapi mula sa mga suhol, kurakot, international loans while bribing her greedy protectors and cohorts.

Wow!

  75. syrinx syrinx

    guys..

i just think we need to be contented..

i’m not saying i’m fine with them (gibo and manzano or even our president).. i’m just saying that you can’t change a country in a snap of a finger..

at least.. i can see that there is still change

we always look on their faults..
    haven’t we seen ours??

i’m just a student in cebu, but i can already see how dumb filipinos are..

don’t you guys made corruption yourselves??
i know you don’t buy original DVDs or CDs.. i know you give money to make it more convenient for you..

look in the mirror.. you make the government.. we are the government.. the officials will be needing our support and cooperation to make this work..

if you’d wan’t to have a greater leader.. choose not the best.. at least choose the better.. in every step of the way.. this country will taste its sweet change..

i hope you guys realize something..
