Sen. Panfilo Lacson yesterday admitted that he left the country early last month to evade what he called an “evil conspiracy” against him.
“As I had correctly suspected, the harassment by the DOJ upon the order of Malacañang will never stop. I am a victim of a conspiracy of whispers between Mrs. (Gloria) Arroyo and her stooge in the Department of Justice,” Lacson said in a statement.
Lacson said the Arroyo administration has employed “even the most tenuous of evidence to justify their own interpretation of probable cause to satisfy their political vendetta against my person.”
“From the Jose Pidal scandal, jueteng payola, Hello Garci election cheating controversy, to the ZTE and fertilizer scam, and many more abuses committed by Mr. and Mrs. Arroyo against the Filipino people, where I played the leading role in exposing, are mostly the reasons why I am being harassed no end,” he added.
“I am hoping, as I was told that the judge handling the case is one who does not easily succumb to pressure and is a stickler for rules, will remain as such and decide the case fairly and based on its merits.
“For now, my concern is my own personal safety and security. I will not allow Mrs. Arroyo and her cohorts in the DOJ the pleasure of seeing my life miserable and in danger. This is one case that I will dispute the argument – flight is an indication of guilt. I am not guilty but I cannot risk putting my life and security at the mercy of that evil conspiracy,” Lacson said.
Senate President Pro tempore Jinggoy Estrada challenged Lacson “to face the music.”
“If he has nothing to hide, I’d advise him, he should come out in the open and not to fear anything,” Estrada said.
Immigration Commissioner Marcelino Libanan told reporters that Lacson left for Hong Kong last Jan. 5 or two days before the DOJ filed double murder charges against him for the murders of publicist Salvador Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito.
“Walang watchlist, walang hold departure order that is why he was able to leave the country by that time. Ngayong may kaso na siya, nasa watchlist na siya,” Libanan said.
Justice Secretary Agnes Devanadera said Lacson is not yet considered a fugitive even though his name has been placed in the BI’s watchlist.
“Sen. Lacson has been placed under the BI’s watchlist, as soon as the case was filed, not knowing that two days before (the filing of the case), he already left. No warrant of arrest has yet been issued, but we don’t see any reason why it should not be issued (by the Manila RTC). Right now, he is not yet a fugitive, he’s still a tourist,” said Devanadera.
Devanadera said Lacson has been included in the BI’s watchlist since the filing last Jan. 7 of an information over the Dacer-Corbito murders.
The BI watchlist shall be valid for 60 days, unless sooner terminated or extended.
State prosecutors found probable cause to indict Lacson and filed charges against him before the Manila regional trial court.
Devanadera said the Manila court is likely to come out with a ruling this week if there is probable cause and to issue a warrant for Lacson’s arrest.
No bail was recommended but the DOJ panel said it is up to the court to decide whether or not to issue a warrant of arrest against Lacson. The crime is punishable by no less than six years in prison.
The murder charges were filed based on the complaint filed by the daughters of Dacer – Carina Lim, Sabina Reyes, Emily Hungerford and Amparo Henson – following the execution of the Feb. 14, 2009 affidavit of former Police Supt. Cezar Mancao II during his extradition trial in Florida.
In his affidavit, Mancao said he was present in a car when Lacson, then PNP chief and head of Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force, gave his order for another accused Michael Ray Aquino to implement “Operation Delta,” referring to Dacer, sometime in October 2000.
The Dacer children likewise sought to file an amended complaint before the DOJ to include former President Joseph Estrada as respondent. – With Evangeline de Vera

Including Erap now in the charge sheet at this time is still premature. The only link to him in the case is the mere mention of “bigote”, no direct link and pure hearsay. The missing link is Michael Ray Aquino. He was the one, I think, who mentioned “bigote” to… was it Mancao or Dumlao? Without Aquino to testify against Erap, there’s no case against him… yet.

Sa kaso ni Lacson, dahil ang mga exposes niya sa kababuyan ng mag-asawa ang nagpahiya sa kanila ng todo-todo, tanga na lang sya kung akala niya ay meron syang panalo kay Pidal ngayon. Dapat ay sumailalim ng paglilitis si Lacson kung iba na ang pangulo na bibigyan siya ng patas na laban.
Hindi rin ako naniniwala na papatay o mag-uutos pumatay ng tao si Erap, walang aura na ganyan si Asiong.
Ang tanong ay kung bakit hindi sya kasama na kinasuhan samantalang kasama sya sa kaso? Sinong makapangyarihan ang nagpasama sa kanya sa kaso in the first place? At sino rin ang biglang nag-erase ng pangalan niya sa kaso samantalang pati mga anak ni Dacer ay idinidiin sya nung una. Ang linaw na pinaglalaruan lang ng mga nasa power si Lacson at Erap. I’m sure that you will agree that Enrile is not exactly the most truthful or the most honest of politicians this country ever produced, and yet Erap who is the most honest and honourable of politicians whose only purpose in life is to serve the poor, has surprisingly associated himself with such a political thief and rascal, someone who is diametrically opposed to him, someone who enriched himself at the expense of the poor Filipino people, etc….

Maybe one of the agenda in the NSC meeting attended by Erap is how to make bawi to Ping Lacson, simple lang one of the common denominator of GMA and Erap is Ping Lacson.
Dumlao clears Sen. Lacson in the Dacer case when he was cross examined by Sen. Lacson’s counsel, he also said that Michael Ray Aquino is the one who got direct orders from Erap and Sen. Lacson has no knowledge about the so called operation.

He’s facing a very serious case (kuno), if it’s true BUT the clowns of Gluerilla, i.e. PNP, Bureau of Immigration, as well as embassy of the country he scampered to, let him out freely anyways.
The useless Honasan did the same clowny act ala Lacson, hiding out to his mistresses house, jumping fences (kuno). He got caught; what happened to him? Zilch, he is still a senator and his case? Swept under.

Takot si Lacson makulong since the crime of murder is none bailable. What’s worst, even IF he is found to be innocent, that’s a big IF. He would have already spent years in prison. Case in point, Hubert Webb of the Vizconde Massacre is still awaiting final judgement from the Supreme Court where they have appealed. Hubert has been in jail since 1995, thats 15 years already.
I feel sorry for Ping Lacson for leaving the country. Ako man kung nalagay sa katayuan niya, I’ll do the same. My first hand experience with Erap’s own DOTC exec: when Erap meddled in something (particularly something that was “recommended” by his friend Jaime Dichavez), poor Jun Rivera was the last to know about it.
Even his proposed state visit to France, Eki Cardenas who was supposed to coordinate didn’t know that Erap had sent another emissary who was tasked with a message — he wanted a “special arrangements” during the visit which, to put it quite bluntly, involved a blond and a brunette!
So not quite true that Lacson would have known everything particularly if Erap was interested in something specific.

Cory Aquino Tributes & the Edsa 2 Denial Syndrome
Actually, the Edsa 2 ousting of President Estrada described by foreign news media back then as “‘a defeat for due process,” as “mob rule,” as “a de facto coup,'” but ridiculously hailed by the traditional local media as a triumph of “democracy and “People Power,” was most conspicuously a no-mention in the Cory tribute activities, funeral and media coverage thereof. Like a scourge, a leprous part of Cory’s and the nation’s recent history. The omission of Edsa 2 in all references to the contributions of the female “democracy icon” to Philippine politics was an almost unwritten rule. Recollections and images of the 1986 Edsa 1 “People Power” bombarded the screens, pages, and programs of news/opinion media but there appeared nary a single reference to the divisive and counter-democratic 2001 Edsa coup.

If I got you right, yes, Cory’s belief in Edsa 2 as being righteous and a proper action course was probably a joke. When she publicly apologized to Erap last December 2008, some of the Edsa 2 people tried to belittle it by claiming it was a joke but, at the same time, some of them cried “Sorry Aquino, “Leche!,” etc.
The apology was no joke. Edsa 2’s so serious a blunder that even Cory didn’t have the face to say sorry without using the vehicle of humor.

Ka Balweg, I’m an advocate for human rights. I don’t dispute the goodness bigote did for the motherland in his short stint as head honcho. The Noypis embraced him as an elected President but was so inept at the helm in a blurr, he lost it. And for the life of me, to a mollie. The disappearance of Mr bentain points directly to him as the mastermind, and I seriously doubt he will admit it even in his deathbed ala O J Simpson, not admitting to the horrific demise of his ex-wife when his time comes.
