Pia Cayetano wages fight against cervical cancer
The biking senator,Pia Cayetano, joins Tour of Hope today to increase awareness of cervical cancer.

This year’s Tour of Hope starts at the Makati Park Garden (Assembly time is 6:00 am )at JP Rizal in front of University of Makati and will roll on to Tarlac, Dagupan, La Union and Baguio City.

Cayetano will be joined by the family of the late rap artist Francis Magalona, TV sportscaster Tricia Chiongbian, Jenna Lopez and the cyclists of Team David’s Salon, the Philippine’s first all-women multi-sport team, dedicated in promoting sports and healthy living.

The 500 kilometer-four day Tour of Hope will hold lectures at every stop. There’s no better weapon to fight cervical cancer than being informed.

Everyday, 12 Filipino women die of cervical cancer. It’s ranked as the second most common female is being armed and empowered to fight the disease which is the second most common cancer worldwide (first is breast cancer).

That’s sad because cervical cancer is preventable.

Tour of Hope is being carried out with Philippine General Hospital Cancer Institute Foundation (CIF)/ Cervical Cancer Prevention Network Program (CECAP), Team David Salon, GlaxoSmithKline, and Bravehearts, a non-government organization undertaking public information on cervical cancer prevention.

Cervical Cancer Vaccination has been implemented already to specific age group in Ontario Secondary Schools except the Catholic Schools who opted out for Religious Reasons for which the Parent were advised to bring their daughters to their Family Doctors or Public Health and will be covered by the Province Program…It is also available to all target age women and is covered by Employers extended care benefits, and those under the government drug plans. It is our Province Government’s goal to someday eliminate or lessen this type of preventable form of Cancer.
