Estrada wows Caviteños

Still the masa's idol
Still the masa's idol
CAVITE CITY.—Former President Joseph Estrada of Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) showed he has not lost his “masa “ appeal despite having been ousted from power and convicted of plunder.

About 5,000 people on Tuesday crammed the vacant lot in front of the public market here to hear Estrada, who turned 73 the day before, vow to recapture Malacañang in this year’s elections.

Estrada attributed his improved ratings in a recent survey to the masses’ unwavering faith in him. A survey commissioned by the Manila Standard showed him statistically tied with Nacionalista Party presidential candidate Manuel Villar.

It was a rally-cum-TV talk show as Strictly Politics of ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) held its fifth miting de avance live during the rally.
At exactly 7 p.m. the candidates stopped delivering speeches and people watched as host Pia Hontiveros interview Estrada, his running mate Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay and six of PMP’s senatorial candidates: former sectoral (Sanlakas) representative JV Bautista, NBN/ZTE whistleblower Joey de Venecia, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, former Negros Occidental Rep. (5th district) Apolinario Lozada, Agusan del Sur Rep. Rodolfo Plaza, and former Sen. Francisco Tatad.

Like what I mentioned on the other thread. Erap was always no. 3 in the survey, but still won the presicency by a very wide margin. Don’t count Erap out yet. Sabi nga ni Erap: “They will have the surprised of their life….”

    Re: #6..

Oops… the survey I’m talking about was that of 1998 when Erap run and won.

Hehehe 😛

My prediction, Erap will beat Manny Villarroyo. It will be Ninoy versus Erap for the presidency.

It’s only now that this blog posted something positive about Erap. Dati-dati eh bawal pa ngang pag-usapan at wala daw sa topic. Better late than never. It only shows that people including this blog have no choice but to support Erap. Surprisingly, Erap kept a low profile until recently when he exposed Villar’s PSE deal.
If El Shaddai’s Bro, Mike Velarde is still in his right mind, he should not endorse Villar because Velarde is a partner in crime. Actually, El Shaddai is just waiting for INC’s decision who to vote.

  16. Mario, re #13so you have resurrected under this name again. I have already forgotten the different indentities you have assumed in the past.

I advocate free and healthy discusssion.

But I’ll never allow falsehood. Like this allegation: Dati-dati eh bawal pa ngang pag-usapan at wala daw sa topic.

I will not bother to explain to you.

I have no patience for your distorted views.

This blog is not dedicated to Estrada nor to any personality.

If you don’t like the way I run this blog, then don’t participate here.

  17. Lurker Lurker

Ellen, I’m with you re your response to “Mario”. You’ve always run your blog equitably, allowing each of us here to let off steam, regardless of our political affiliations/favorite candidates. Congratulations!

In my opinion, SWS , Pulse Asia and other surveys cannot be relied since they may not have considered each member of the population to have an equal and known chance of being selected. When there are very large populations of voters, it is often difficult or impossible to identify every member of the population, so the pool of available subjects becomes BIASED. Philippines voter statistics can be surveyed by age group, economic sectors and campaign spending. I will not explain campaign spending here. Age group is very interesting since the youth age 18-28 comprises 50% of total voters population. Philippines has 51 million registered voters. Let me explain why using the following statistics. you all can check the facts.

age 18 to 28 = 25 million nationwide. Thats almost 50% of total voters.

    age 29 to 39 = 15.9 million voters. That’s about 30% of total voters

age 40 to 51= 6.12 million voters. That’s about 12 of total voters

age 52 and up= 4.1 million voters. That’s about 8% of total voters.

There are three factors for survey accuracy
    1. Size of samples ( it’s best to use at least 2500 or over as samples)
    2. Percentage ( 50% of the samples must come from 18-28 age bracket since they comprise 50% of the total registered voters.
    3. Population ( there are 51 million voters separated by islands)

Randomly picking 1500 samples without considering the percentage of voters in a particular age group will result to a large margin of error. CIG is by far the most reliable as it conforms to international survey standards.
Failure to disclose who were sampled, their age and the percentage of voters in a given age group is not good for Mang Juan and Pedro.

On economic sectors, survey samples must also use the percentage or equal share of a given class.

ON CIG, GIBO is now number one. There are also 21% undecided voters according to CIG. In my analysis, these undecided voters will most likely vote for the most competent in management, credibility and leadership. And who would that be? definitely not Yellow or Orange…or not even Erap..

I think SWS (as well as Pulse Asia) are credible survey firms. In fact, SWS reportedly received a second award from Gallup World Poll just recently. Here’s a portion of that news item:

“Social Weather Stations (SWS) was recognized by the Gallup World Poll for Outstanding Commitment to Methodological Rigor at its “2010 World Poll Training”, held at the Hotel Sofitel Silom, Bangkok last February 24-26, 2010.

The recognition certifies that “SWS has met the highest standards in data collection methodology across all countries surveyed in the Asia Region of the World Poll.”

  20. Well, if its Erap, its Erap, judging by the way people are responding, Pacquiao might even win too! 🙂

Somewhere in America (not sure what State) in the early 1900’s, the Suffrage Movement came about led by some determined women to amend the US Constitution by allowing women the right to vote. If I recall correctly, it was a hard fought battle and became a law in the 1920’s.

My query is directed to Sax, and other lawyers here about the possibility of amending our constitution and to repeal the voting rights of those that can’t read nor write. Unlike in the US, this is not a racist law; but I acknowledge however, it is a prejudicial.

Then again, since our motherland is clinging on the very edge of being a half-ass democratic state in the first place; and it’s almost a dictatorial type of government – what would prevent this repeal/amendment from becoming a reality. Just a thought.

Mga pro-Erap dyan, huwag kaagad mag-alburoto.

Not true mario. There were the voluminous posts of balweg with stats on Erap’s performance. There were posts of Tedanz as well. There was a tit for tat between the both, and henry90. Baka matagal ka lang absent.

There was also mine, but only in reference to a link, after I went for Erap.

  27. chi chi

    And back to Erap…

Basta malinis ang eleksyon wala akong reklamo. We can start (again) from a clean process. Kaya madalas kong sabihin dito na mas pabor ako sa labang Noynoy-Erap dahil hindi nila kailangang mandaya, hindi sila mandaraya ng boto dahil meron silang enough supporters to make one of them win in a fair election.

  28. balweg balweg

On ERAP , of course he is still appealing to the masang pinoy. ERAP’s voters are considered a decrease of votes that are supposed to be for Villar and Noynoy. GIBO is targetting a different niche. These are voters who already understand true democracy by actively participating. The result of this election will determine how educated and mature filipino voters are.

  30. asiandelight asiandelight

On Pulse Asia, it is owned by Noynoy’s cousin Rafa. SWS is in directly doing business with ABS-CBN for business purposes. The result of a a biased survey can be used to lure business entities to support a certain candidate without considering other important qualities that a President should have. Noynoy is by far the most incompetent among them all. Mabuti pa si lito Lapid, he was able to legislate one BILL. These two surveys are perfect for a popularity contest and never mind the brains, achievements, skills and leadership in management.

Any business will always work hard to achieve a certain certificate or an award for advertising, branding its product to use the certificate as a marketing advantage. It does not mean that its award is applicable to the current election. SWS was awarded according to other services but not for this election. We have yet to elect a president so that award is not applicable to this event. SWS and Pulse Asia may have used the ramdom, convenience or the snow balling type of survey? Tell them to come to CEBU and survey the Cebuanos alone , let’s see if SWS and PULse Asia will have Noynoy as the winner.

Conditioning the minds of Mang Juan and Pedro is a direct assault to human rights. Education is the best strategy to empower the people.

    hiii to all bloggers here

  32. Tell them to come to CEBU and survey the Cebuanos alone , let’s see if SWS and PULse Asia will have Noynoy as the winner.
    ————————————–

We have a song that goes “sa cebung dapita, piso ray donselya” – when it comes to Cebu, money talks, and only money talks…thats coming from a real cebuano…pastilan paita gyud…

  33. Oblak Oblak

  34. Umaasa pa ba si Gibo? Dapat yung logo ng Liberal Party – yung malaking “L” – ilagay niya sa noo niya. Loser!

He is a big joke. No one will forget the way he pushed his debut into the presidential fray. Via infomercials in Manny Pacquiao’s fight blahblah-ing on disaster preparedness. He turned out later as the most unprepared NDCC chair at the time Ondoy struck. An he blames the fucking traffic for his failure! His words are as empty as his bankrupt political machine and his appeal is as desirable as root canal drilling.

    Again, loser!
