Marcos Australian daughter dropped from reality show

Dennis Garcia’s Facebook wall carried this news item from today’s issue of The Daily Telegraph. A 2004 article in the Sun-Herald gave an interesting background on Analisa’s mother, Evelin, and the awesome money that Marcos gifted her. The article tells us how much money were taken away from us. Just imagine if those money were used for the Filipino people.

Ferdinand Marcos’ girl is shown the door

Take one home makeover reality show, add a contestant with serious interior designing credibility – and then apparently take it all away at the last minute because her dad was a corrupt Asian dictator.

That’s what Bondi designer Analisa Hegyesi – an Australian-based daughter of former Philippines leader Ferdinand Marcos- says she was told when production company Shine Australia rang her on Monday to say she was no longer part of its planned Renovators show.

The Channel 10 series starts filming next week, with a team of professionals locked down in an apartment block and taken to various properties to make them over.

Hegyesi told us she made it to the final cut after months of auditions and interviews – but was dumped after she mentioned who her father was to producers last week.

Nakakawindang, nakaka-iyak

Read reaction of Jan-Jan’s father to outrage over son’s humiliation and cry

CHR condemns the March 12 episode of Willing-Willie as “an exploitation of the child’s innocence and demeans his inherent dignity for entertainment’s sake. “ See complete statement in comments section.

A move to teach Willie Revillame a lesson by calling on a boycott of Willing-Willie’s advertisers is being circulated online.Details below.

TV-5 and Revillame apologize

From GMA-7 news online:

Jan-Jan’s father speaks: ‘Maraming natuwa’

Most of the criticism about boy “macho dancer” Jan-Jan was aimed at TV host Willie Revillame, but a few angry reactions referred to the child’s parents who permitted him to be laughed at and humiliated on national TV.

GMA News Online tracked down Jan-Jan’s father, Jojo Estrada, a salon owner from Quezon City, who saw nothing wrong with the spectacle that earned his son a tidy P10,000, which was spent on a new Portable Sony PlayStation and bike.

On his son’s dance:

“Talent ‘yun ng anak ko, simula nung 4 years old sinasayaw nila ‘yun, kahit sa school pa. Ako’y tuwang-tuwa. Napaluha ako sa tuwa.”

‘All I ask is a fair share of justice’ – Lacson

Statement of Sen. Panfilo Lacson at his press conference Monday, March 28, 2011:

Unang una sa lahat I’d like to thank the members of the media for allowing me a quiet weekend with my family. I thought that was the best day of my life with my family because it was a quiet weekend. We heard mass and I visited the graves of my parents. It felt like Christmas in March.

For 13 months, I was a fugitive from injustice. I have been subjected to the vitriol of arrogance and hatred by my old and new detractors. I have been humiliated, unfairly eviscerated of my dignity and personal honor, even as I am humbled by an experience so surreal I never imagined could happen.

Every single day that I was underground, the crucible stared each time I opened my eyes. For 13 months I lived the life of a prisoner outside a prison cell. The only difference from one who suffers in confinement is that I could on my own free will navigate my movements using the best of my instinctive compass. I had only one rule to follow. Do not get caught.

Since childhood, I have struggled in life. But the last struggle I had for the past year was the most challenging. The worst pain of all is that I didn’t know who my true and real friends were. I still thank God I found a few of them.

Willie, please stop humiliating the poor

Update: Social Services Secretary wrote Manny V. Pangilinan, owner of TV5

I’m in a dilemma about posting this very cruel video here because it’s like adding to the humiliation of Jan-jan. But at the same time, we cannot be talking and enjoining people to join hands in putting a stop to this deplorable practice without showing the incident.

I’m reposting here the letter of Cathy Babao-Guballa about the incident.

I captured a shot in the video. If you want to see the whole video here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YRCxh9q64w. It was too painful for me.

Jan-jan

Dearest Jan-jan,

My heart broke as I watched you cry on television. You should never have been there in the first place.

There are many people to blame for the humiliation that you went through. What took place should have never happened if people had… been doing their jobs, if people had only known better. First of all, I cannot understand how your tita would teach you to dance that way!! You are only six years old and what do you know about the world? I’m sure you are a very bright, sensitive, and talented little boy, that much I could see.

Whistleblowers welcome Lacson’s return

Lacson with the family Sunday
Not surprisingly, Sandra Cam, president of the Whistleblowers Association, is so happy that Sen. Ping Lacson is back.

Lacson arrived in Cebu from Hong Kong last Saturday. He proceeded to Manila. His media officer, Gerry de Belen, said the senator, who left the country 14 months ago to evade the warrant of arrest issued against him in connection with the murders of public relations practitioner Bubby Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito, will hold a presscon Monday (March 28) at the Senate at 11 a.m.

Cam said with the return of Lacson, members of their organization who will be called to the witness stand during the impeachment trial, feel more secure. She added that Lacson is the only one who is consistent with his help for the whistleblowers. (A whistleblower is one who exposes wrongdoing within an organization in the hope of stopping it) who testified in congressional investigation at great risk to their person and family.)

Even before the Court of Appeals came out with its final decision last March 18 saying that its earlier ruling nullifying the indictment of Regional Trial Court of Manila in connection with the Dacer-Corbito double-murder case automatically lifted the warrant of arrest issued against Lacson, the Whistleblowers Association had issued a statement giving him support warning the public that those who are protecting Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez are “hell-bent” in preventing Lacson from coming back.

Pera o preso

The Ligots. Photo by Manila Standard
