Tomorrow, at the historic Club Filipino, Sen. Mar Roxas is expected to be elected president of the Liberal Party, taking over from former Senate President Franklin Drilon.
Roxas is being groomed as the Liberal party’s bet for 2010 in its bid to recapture Malacañang which they have failed to do in the post-Marcos era.
If there would be elections in 2010, we expect the following to run for president: Loren Legarda, Noli de Castro, Manny Villar, Ping Lacson, Mar Roxas, Dick Gordon.

Huli ko siya nakita noong Christmas 2006 ngunit palagi siya nag-si share kung paano niya nilalabanan ang kanyang sakit. Kahapon ang aming I Can Serve Christmas party. Miss namin si Lani.

Yesterday, the panel hearing the court martial cases of mutiny and conduct unbecoming of an officer and gentleman against 28 officers allegedly involved in the plan to withdraw support from Gloria Arroyo in February 2006, granted the motion of the defense lawyers to adjourn the hearing because of the failure of the Trial Judge Advocate to notify all the accused officers and defense lawyers on the hearing yesterday.

Camp Capinpin,Tanay, Rizal — Several outbursts marred Friday’s mutiny hearing for 28 military officers linked to the foiled coup in February 2006, with the accused angered over the handling of the proceedings.
The accused were angered by the military court’s decision to deny First Lieutenant Homer Estolas’ petition to exercise his right to peremptory challenge.
The lead perosecutor, Lieutenant Colonel Jose Feliciano Loy, claimed that Estolas said in the last hearing that he had used his right to peremptory challenge.
After last Friday’s walkout of the officers and their lawyers at the court martial hearing (the first in military history) of those allegedly involved in the plan to withdraw support from Gloria Arroyo on Feb. 2006, I’m anxious to know what’s going to happen in today’s hearing.
Frank Chavez, counsel for Maj. Gen. Renato Miranda, the highest- ranking officer among the accused, and Maj. Jason Aquino, has filed a motion to suspend the proceedings until they are presented a copy of a pre-trial advice signed by AFP Chief of Staff Hermogenes Esperon. The PTA is the basis for the charges of mutiny and conduct unbecoming of an officer and gentleman against the 28 officers.
Judging from the decisions made by the court in past hearings, I’m willing to bet my much-devalued ten dollars that Chavez’ motion will again be denied.

Nangyari ang pagpasabog ilang minuto pasado 8 p.m. ng Martes ng gabi sa Southwing ng Batasan. Palabas ang mga kongresista, palapit sa kanilang mga kotse ng sumabog ang bomba.
Iba-iba ang theory tungkol sa pagsabog. Wala pang umaamin at wala pa ring siguradong findings ang Philippine National Police. Ang sigurado lang ay bomba ang pumutok, hindi methane gas na sinasabi nilang nangyari sa Glorietta.
Three years ago, Angelio Nayan, a young Filipino diplomat working for a United Nations agency, was kidnapped by a Taliban group in Afghanistan. The whole Filipino nation stormed heaven with prayers for his safe return.
Nayan is now safely doing his diplomatic work in a foreign posting.
Since Nayan’s kidnapping, the government has imposed a ban on the deployment of Filipinos in Afghanistan. Despite the ban, however, there are more than a thousand Filipinos there.

A bomb exploded at the House of Representatives in Quezon City Tuesday evening, killing Basilan Representative Wahab Akbar and the driver of another lawmaker.
Two other solons and five more persons were also wounded in the explosion, just minutes after the House adjourned its session a little past 8 p.m.
Aside from Akbar, the explosion also killed Marcial Tando, driver of Gabriela Representative Luz Ilagan.
