Armed Forces chief Gen. Hermo-genes Esperon Jr. yesterday said he hopes retired Maj. Gen. Jovito Palparan, scourge of communists and alleged mastermind of a rash of extra-judicial killings, will win if and when he runs for congressman of Misamis Oriental.
“That is a matter of personal choice and an exercise of an individual freedom that is accorded to all Filipinos. So, if he wants to enter (politics), I will wish him luck and I hope that he will succeed in what he is doing,” said Esperon. He quickly clarified, however, that he was not speaking for the AFP.
“I cannot say we are supporting him because you might accuse us of campaigning. I just want him to succeed in what he is doing in the fight against the group that wants to supplant democracy. If he is going to fight the party-lists supporting the New People’s Army (in Congress), it would be good for us,” Esperon said.
Palparan who retired as commander of the Army’s 7th Infantry Division when he reached the mandatory retirement age of 56 last Sept. 11 had earlier said his plan to run for Congress was an open option. He said a number of people have been encouraging him but he is “still thinking about it.”
The Melo Commission, which investigated the extra-judicial killings, said Palparan and his superior officers may be held responsible for hundreds of these slays.
Palparan accused the commission of not doing its job. He said the Melo Report was filled with Leftist propaganda. The military insists the communists themselves killed some of the victims as part of a purge.

If I understand the substance of the statement that he made, Congress (Congressmen and Senators of others)are New People’s Army sympathizers or supporters of illegal army in the Philippines which a treason according to the constitution. Who’s the party-list, that Assperon not so shy to mention? If he knows of them, why not charge them of treason for aiding and abetting the enemy of the Republic?
In anyway, what the hell Assperon is personally doing as chief of the Armed Forces to combat the New People’s Army as the loyal supporter of undemocratic administration? Frankly, a parliament does not have to be single-bodied. Over in Japan or UK for that that matter and elsewhere, the parliament has two chambers, the upper and lower houses. In UK, I know they have the House of the Lords and the House of Commons. Over in Japan , we have the upper and lower houses. We don’t have a House of Lords, because the old peerage was in fact abolished at the end of WWII. The Americans actually wanted the Emperor system abolished but McArthur was told that if he would strip the emperor of his title, he might commit suicide the whole of Japan would go with him. So, the emperor system was left as is, and the emperor made a symbol of Japanese sovereignty and unity.
On the other hand, what the Pandak wants is a single-housed Parliament that she can dictate upon not really as PM or President but as a queen! Hibang? You bet, she is!

I agree, Palparan has every right to run for congress or any Pilipinos. It’s their rights, as Pilipinos. However, and big if, is Palparan a butcher and criminal that he’s according to evidences, should he be prosecuted and jailed instead? Somebody should honestly investigated this guy Palparan since he was connected to many of the extra-judicial killings of over 800 activists and journalists. I don’t think we want another criminal the like of Palparan in congress, if he’s a criminal. Since, we already got enough criminals running the country and illegitimate Gloria is without the doubt is the number one criminal of the Philippines. It’s of my opinion that someone should look this guy Palparan over in and out, before we put another criminal in congress or in the executive branch or jucidicial dept. I’m sure more to it than just the outside of Palparan. All the reports about Palparan can’t all be lie, since it’s coming from credible source and not Malacanang.
if he’s guilty, let it be. we should not prejudged a person. i don’t condone killing, but we have to respect the court’s decision. our speculation is just a matter of our own hatred. we should wait.

I also agree, of what you said, that we shouldn’t prejudged a person until such person is found guilty of the crimes. But, do you think that our judicial system is fair and not bias? Since its inception it is perceived that the report on the result of its findings will absolve the military and its leadership. I challenged Doy to present the present admininistration’s achievements at sa lahat na sinasabi niya, but apparently, he’s not ready to discuss the matter point by point. Praktisado pa naman ako ngayon while in the field. Ang ginagawa namin ay hindi paninira sa kalaban, ang sinasabi namin ang kakayahan ng kandidato ng GO/UNO at mga programa para magandang pamamalakad. If, by state, we mean the Filipino people, the answer is quite obvious… he, under whose encouragement and instruction, a number of Filipinos were killed (now, it doesn’t really matter if these people are communist symphatizers, what matters most is that, these are PEOPLE). Let them praise Palaparan to the highest heavens. Barring any of the G’s (guns, goons, gold, Garci and Gloria), he will lose. The ghost of the dead will haunt the living- and cause them to write a death sentence on Palparan’s political adventures.
If, by state, we mean GMA and her cronies, then, Trillanes should be charged- let them charge Trillanes for all they care, he will win in the end. His principled stand against everything foul this administration had tried to ram down our throats will brighten up his chances in this coming election.
